Good spot for a quick lunch in Union City. The lunch specials come with soup, fried wonton crackers (very old school), and white rice. My Mongolian beef was decent, but the chow fun was on the bland side and lacked wok hei. Service was friendly and prompt.

I was ready to give Hong Kong Restaurant a raving review up until the end of our meal. To preface- my family used to frequent this place a lot when we lived here back in the day, but over the years since moving away, kinda forgot about it. My fiance and I were in the area and craving hot and sour soup. I told him about how I used to come to HKR as a kid and how it's been around for decades, etc etc. The inside still looked the same (with that classic 90s green marble lol) and the nostalgia really hit me! We ordered the Family Style Complete Dinner in package B "Szechwan Dinner" for 2 ($24.95/pp) which included: - Hot and sour soup - Fried won tons & shrimp - Mongolian beef - Garlic chicken - House fried rice Good sized portions, solid food. We were enjoying everything up until we were trying to get their attention for our check and to-go boxes. My fiance would wave them down and they'd acknowledge him with a "1 moment" hand gesture, but then go to other tables and never come back. This happened a few more times before he went up to the front to ask for the check and boxes himself. They gave him the check and he paid right there, tipping 15%. The total came out to about $63 and some change including tip. When he got back to the table he mentioned how much the lady was staring at him while he was writing out the total to see how much he was tipping. I thought he was just over-exaggerating until the same lady came over while we were boxing up our food to accuse him of tipping low. She started collecting the dirty plates, and asked in an accusatory tone, "why you tip so low??" I was like wtf, did she really just say that? He was confused too because he tipped 15% (the standard. Could've tipped nothing tbh!) and told her to look again. She did just that. We were appalled. She came back and said "oh yeah, sorry." Loud and wrong. Totally unprofessional and tainted our dining experience. Sadly won't be coming back.

Average spot for lunch rush. I had a sweet and sour chicken lunch and was provided a hearty serving along with corn soup. So much food it was enough for lunch the next day. Quick service.

There's no way I haven't yelped this place before! My husband has been coming here since our 10yo was a new born babe. This hidden gem is always busy with phone orders or walk in customers. We like to do both in person and over the phone orders. Some of our favorites: Walnut shrimp- AMAZING it's always sweet with the perfect crunch. I wish we got more but that's just bc it's so good. They give you plenty with the to go order. Walnuts are delicious as well. Garlic sauce chicken, shrimp and beef- the sauce is delicious but I do wish there was more shrimp in this order. They definitely give you enough chicken but not enough beef and shrimp. Comes with plenty veggies as well. Mongolian beef- the sauce is always great, wish it was a little spicier but my family loves it. Too much onion for us but still delicious. Orange chicken- our kids love this one and it comes with real slices of orange. Really adds to the tanginess. The chicken is a little too breaded but still delicious. Woe wonton soup- one of my personal favorites. When I order it to go I usually get a small and an order of rice and it's the PERFECT combo. It comes with chicken, shrimp, veggies, and of course wontons. One of the best broths I've had. Broccoli beef- one of my husbands favorite but this last time we went it did not hit the spot. Usually great tho. Pork fried rice- this is the reason they will never lose my husband as a customer. He dreams about this rice. Personally I love the shrimp fried rice but the pork is a close second. The pork is always crunchy and plenty of it. I am sure we've tried others but these are the top of our list. The ONLY reason why it's not a 5 star review is the service. Service is not always the best and now the new guy is always pushing more food on us. We order plenty but he won't take no for an answer. It's frustrating to be honest. The ladies are great and have been there a long time but the new guy not my favorite.

One thing about me- I always order the same things at Hong Kong Restaurant. It almost feels like they are an extension of my own kitchen. It's Beef with bean curd and tomato or if I feel like noodles, it'd be Tomato Beef Chow Mein. I also always get their Chinese Chicken Salad which is crunchy with the sweet dressing. They have a $10 minimum on cards.

Ordered 5 orders of various wonton soups to go and a large hot and sour soup. Each wonton soup only had 2 wontons each. They were big meatball size, but i would've preferred smaller wontons but more of them. Flavor wise, they were fine. Nothing amazing, but standard takeout. Hot and sour soup had shrimp and possibly chicken? maybe pork? Not vegetarian. Standard take out quality. 3 stars, but giving the 4th as a they were nice and had the food ready in less than 15 minutes.

I have been coming here for over 30 years and it still has the best Chinese food in the area! My waiter was very attentive and provides the best information about all the dishes. They kept the same vintage ambiance and I wouldn't have it any other way. An oldie but goodie

Looking for a fancy restaurant with affordable prices? This is your place! We were seated right away since we came at opening. Came here with 5 other people and ordered House Combo C which is about $20/per person. You can substitute food, but only if it's similar in price. We switched our soup and wanted the seafood fish maw, but was told we couldn't do it since it costs more. If we wanted the soup, it would just be an additional meal. We switched to hot & sour soup with is probably the best I've ever had! There are about 5-6 different entrees plus the house rice and soup. It wasn't busy, but the food took a while to come out. Every time they brought a plate over, they would comment that it's a lot of food. Every single time. Yes, we understand it's a lot of food and we took the leftovers afterward. The food was delicious and everything was cooked nicely. The veggies and seafood were our favorite. The sauce for the entrees were full of flavor. The chicken and spare ribs we didn't care for because it was a bit hard to chew. We'd come back, but only for the fish and seafood!

We usually go for the pork and crab XLB, which are flavorful, juicy, and explode in your mouth with soup. I also tried the pork belly burger this time. The pork belly itself was good, but it didn't really stand out to me and probably isn't something I'd order again when there are so many other things to get. Service is decent and gets the job done. Nothing particularly memorable, but our needs were taken care of, and I appreciated that they consistently kept my water filled. Overall, solid place for XLB

Several months ago, I visited Fong Kee Clay Pot with a different friend who gave it rave reviews. The food isn't gross, but it's something I can make myself. Cook some meat and rice, and throw it in a clay pot. Although I didn't want to come here, the rest of my friends were excited to try this place. I kept my mouth shut and didn't express my opinion. Maybe I should have spoken up because everyone was underwhelmed by what we ordered. My food was bland and needed more flavor, but I wasn't sure what to add to make it more flavorful. What I shared with my husband: Preserved egg and chicken porridge with a Chinese donut Chinese sausage w/ salted fish I was disappointed by the amount of salted fish in my bowl. I found a few sheer pieces of basically nonexistent fish in my fish. It takes less than two dollars to make this dish, so I have no idea why a bowl of rice costs $17. I love preserved egg and chicken porridge, but this one lacked sodium and preserved duck egg flavor. My guess is that they made plain porridge and dumped chicken and preserved egg into it instead of cooking it on a slow simmer. My friend had to send her dish back because she found a hair in her food. Cons: Bland dishes Expensive dishes for what you actually get Pros: Prompt and good service for a party of 7. The next time a friend suggests Clay Pot, I will suggest a better alternative and spare us disappointment.

When I arrived to pick up my order, the woman working there was extremely rude and her customer service was terrible. I politely asked for some hot sauce, and in front of everyone she responded, "Your soup is already spicy. You want more hot sauce?" I explained that the wonton soup wasn't spicy and I wanted hot sauce for that. She then told me that the hot sauce is only for people who order dumplings, which was honestly ridiculous and came across as extremely cheap. She eventually handed me two tiny containers of hot sauce with an attitude. When I got home, I opened the beef noodle soup and there were literally only three tiny pieces of beef in the entire order. I called the restaurant to ask about it, and instead of trying to resolve the issue, she became even more rude. She told me, "How many pieces do you expect me to put in there? You got a good deal, buy one get one free." She then said her boss told her to only put three pieces of beef in the soup and that the soup they make is "not just for you." The fact that I received a promotion through DoorDash should not mean the quality or portion of my food should be reduced. If you're offering a buy-one-get-one-free promotion, customers should still receive a proper order. Between the horrible customer service, extremely small portions, poor-tasting food, dirty-looking restaurant, and unpleasant atmosphere, I will never come back here again and would not recommend this place to anyone.

The fish was super crispy, and the sweet, garlicky skin was incredibly addictive. I would 100% order this every time I come back. We also had the Shredded Cabbage with Sliced Pork (8/10), which was nice and tangy. The cabbage soaked up all the sauce, making every bite packed with flavor, while the pork provided a great contrast to the vegetables. The House Special Fried Rice with Pickle & Beef (7/10) wasn't anything extraordinary, but it served as a great base alongside the other dishes. The pickles were an interesting addition, as I've never had fried rice prepared that way before, but I definitely enjoyed it. Finally, we decided to try the House Special Spicy Frog in Stone Pot (6.5/10) since most of us had never had frog before. The flavor was outstanding, with a great umami depth and just the right amount of spice. The frog itself was a little difficult to eat because of the large number of bones, but the meat was tender and juicy. Replacing the frog with another protein probably would have made it more favorable, but I still enjoyed trying something new and didn't regret ordering it. Overall, Ping's Bistro is a great spot for outstanding Chinese food. Every dish we tried was enjoyable, and there are still so many items on the menu I'd love to come back and explore. The prices are on the higher side, but the quality and flavor make up for it. I'll definitely be back.
