    Lots of ice cream

If you are looking for ice cream, they have plenty of different Perry's flavors. What they don't have is specialty coffees or any desserts as advertised. Literally there is nothing in their refrigerators. I don't know if they are close to closing for the season? We have been looking for a new dessert place but this will not be it. $4 for one scoop of ice cream seems crazy. I was really looking forward to a nice latte or cappuccino since their sign advertises for fancy coffees and the only thing we seen resembling coffee was a sign that said "freshly ground coffee for $1.79"... Highly disappointed.

I want to start by saying that this is a solid "A-OK" 3 stars, with the potential for 4 - 5 stars as it comes into its own. Sweet Emilia's resides in the space once occupied by a local fro-yo place (Yo Betty's) that had a fierce neighborhood following. Despite the friendliest passing of the torch ever witnessed on Facebook, it is hard not to notice the ghost of the former establishment when you enter. That, coupled with a name that sounds a little bit like another "sweet" local ice cream favorite, means we need to give them the opportunity to establish its own sweet identity. And I am fairly confident it will. Sweet Emilia's is owned and operated by the same folks who run the Andiamo Takeout next door. Emilia, I assume, is the beautiful baby on a lot of pictures that greet you as you enter. In fact, my kids think they may have spotted the actual Emilia enjoying a baby sized ice cream in a high chair while we were there. If that wasn't (and frankly even if it was) the baby of note, sorry my kids stared so much. It's not often we see a famous ice cream lovin' baby! The ice cream parlor itself gives me Jersey Shore (the real one, not the show) vibes in a good way. The staff was attentive and fairly quick, especially since they just recently opened. The room flow isn't quite there yet- the TV is in the old place, as is a freezer. But the counter itself has flipped to the other side of the room, so the bare tables feel minimalist and awkward in between. Sweet Emilia's is needed in the sea of frozen yogurt establishments because hard packed ice cream sets it apart from a bucket of vanilla yogurt with 76 gummy frogs and whipped cream piled on top (Wait, just my kid? No?) Which is why, in my opinion, their use of soft serve in all of the sundaes unless you pay more is a hit and a miss. Embrace the Perry's! And if you are selling a sundae that's over $6, don't tack on an additional charge for it. I also have a thing about root beer floats (which is what I ordered)... I want the rest of the root beer from the can or bottle (20 oz, not 2 liter... I am not a monster) because half of the float is usually foam and i need back up. But alas, my root beer disappeared behind the counter with its little Barq's fingers crossed that someone else would order a float later that evening. I think Sweet Emilia's will continue to improve with time. I also think that the warmer weather will bring the masses and will help it move beyond "the place that used to be..." I look forward to checking it out again soon!

Decent prices. Quick service. They have some cool specialty menu items. Cannoli sundae was great.

Nice selection of ice cream and sundae combinations. Nice outdoor areas to eat with the kids.

Very dirty. Floor, counters...everything. The teenagers that were working were drinking beer while scooping ice cream. Would not recommend.

Please do a deep cleaning. It's sweet you have toys for the kids but things just feel dirty and like you sort of gave up.

They had six flavors: sangria - fruity, wine; honey whiskey - topped with a Biscoff; piña colada - not pictured because I skipped that one; mojito - lime and rum; black forest - chocolate cupcake with boozy cherry; peanut butter whiskey - also a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Presentation and toppings were all really lovely and looked delicious. Super creative concept all around. Most of the cupcakes were yellow or white cake, the rum, whiskey, and wine were noticeable but not strong. So you knew they were there, but not overwhelmed. Some people might actually want them to be stronger! The flavors in general were subtle but clear. The frostings were all pretty light and pleasant, which is nice. I know there's a lot of people who really like dense buttercream and cream cheese frostings and for whom cupcakes are a frosting delivery vehicle. These are not those. Plenty of rich and delicious frosting for the cupcake but not too much. The cupcakes are not following the super sized trend; they're a nice cupcake sized cupcake. This makes it easy to rationalize eating two at a time because, um, you wanted to compare flavors. Yep, that's totally why. I liked all the flavors I tried, but was surprised that my favorite was the chocolate peanut butter and my second favorite was the mojito. Only comments would be there's some variability as to the moistness or dryness of the cake part, and the filled ones could use more filling. The people at the pop-up (I forgot to ask if they were the bakers/ owners) are really nice and happy to answer any questions or customize an order. As you can tell by my substituting an extra black forest for the piña colada. They'll be back at the Broadway Market for Dyngus Day!

Cuccidati Inc. had a booth at the event ... and they had me at the word "cuccidati". :-D LOVE these cookies! If you are unfamiliar, cuccidati are iced-and-sprinkled fig-filled Italian cookies. They're like a soft, delectable, gourmet, top-shelf, high-class, prettier Fig Newton, but way better, haha. Whenever I see an Italian cookie spread at a gathering, I always b-line for dibbs on the cuccidati. And Cuccidati Inc.'s cuccidati did not disappoint! These were a bit different from cuccidati I've had before. They weren't quite as sweet, not as thick-white of an icing as usual. And the filling seemed more natural, like more purely fig, as opposed to the more artificial extract flavor of some cuccidati. I do like the creamier cuccidati filling I'm used to, with more of a jam consistency. But these were good too, you could feel chewy bits of real fig fruit in each bite. If you prefer a cookie that isn't too rattle-your-teeth-sweet, you will probably enjoy Cuccidati Inc.'s cookies very much. We spoke with the owners when we were at the fresh-air market, and they were very sweet and friendly. They of course bake their namesake, but also bake many other cookies too. They don't have their own storefront, they sell by order, or at local venues and events. They are on the shelves at Buffalo Artisan Food Traders (https://www.yelp.com/biz/buffalo-artisan-food-traders-buffalo), so if you have a hankering for some delicious cuccidati, stop by there to grab a pack. Or check Cuccidati Inc.'s Facebook page for other upcoming local appearances - https://www.facebook.com/cuccidati.org - and mangia! :-D
