We met Haven the actual baker!!! My wife wanted his carrot cake which was TDF!!! Omgosh she was in dessert heaven. We had the pleasure of meeting him at the Old Sacramento 916 Vegan Street Faire. We were very fortunate to get one of his big & heavy carrot cake slices before they sold out. So reasonably priced too! Haven's nickname is Hayvy. Hence the name Hayvy Bayky! Catchy right? but cute! To tell you the truth we were clueless about Haven! My wife was expecting a lady baker (I know so stereotypic) so when his dad introduced him to us & she checked his social media & read his background she was blown away! A side note: Thank you 916 vegan for arranging this Vegan street faire. We need more of these pop ups even indoors if possible. That morning wind created havoc on someone's table. My wife heard something crash & break! Oh NO! So sad when Burlys couldn't get their electricity at all as that's the reason why my wife came. But she was happy nonetheless bc she was able to shop at some local small vegan businesses! Woohoo! She was joyous! My wallet. Oh dear! LOL My wife noticed on Hayvy's recent IG page that he almost sold out of his delicious baked goodies at last Sunday's vegan popup event! Don't pass up this vegan baker especially if you have a serious sweet tooth like my wife. You will thank me later. He also had different kinds of delicious cupcakes, mouthwatering cookies & other desserts but my wife refrained. Next time! This guy is so talented that my wife is returning soon...she saw he also sells his baked goods at Temple coffee on 2200 K street. Wow this 17 year old teenager is so smart, talented & exceptional! Sweet Haven Bakery has become one of our favorite places to stop for a little treat. We love how it's conveniently located near two of our favorite stores, target and Barnes and noble so it makes for a fun putting walking around the birdcage shopping center for a treat day. Just the right amount of crisp to the cookies of cookie sandwiches. The flavors rotate monthly with frequent promotions. There's also monthly sticker designs made by the baker as well. I got the chai cupcake since chai is my favorite and red velvet for my husband! My husband loves red velvet cake and I was looking to get him something for his birthday before we went out to dinner. I found this place on yelp and I was so thankful it was close by. I decided to take a chance and stopped in since it was almost closing time. I was so happy to see they had red velvet cupcakes as well as so many amazing other flavors. (This was back in December, so red velvet was a winter seasonal flavor). If I'm not mistaken, the baker's father was the person running the front of the shop and he was incredibly friendly and helpful. He told me about the business and that his 19-year-old son is the baker, which is so admirable! I was able to grab a box with an assortment of the flavors and surprised my husband and his friends. I tried the almond cookie sandwich and it was amazing! The cookies were soft but with a light outer crisp and the buttercream is exactly the kind I like, thick and sweet. However, I really wish the prices were better because I went in there with my family and we most definitely would have gotten more than one item if it had not been for every cupcake and cookie sandwich being $7 each! I really wanted to try the red velvet cupcake too but I just didn't expect the pricing to be so high. This was my first visit. Sweet Haven is a lovely boutique bakery with a small but diverse and carefully curated selection of absolutely scrumptious baked goods. An interesting variety of cookies, cookie "sandwiches" with delicious, uniquely flavored buttercream frosting in between, cupcakes, and more. The level of attention to detail in every item is clearly on display, and the results are delicious. I'm a bit of a "cookie snob" and have missed having a place with truly well-balanced cookie recipes since Cookie Connection failed a few years ago. Sweet Haven is clearly following in those footsteps, but adding interesting flavor and presentation twists that make it a topnotch choice. They take special orders, and appear to bake in relatively small batches, which really shows up in the quality, but might make it difficult if you drop in needing a dozen or two at the last minute, so I'd recommend calling a day ahead. The day I was there, I was told they are booked out for cakes until mid-November, so clearly there is strong demand for their products. I highly recommend visiting them. It's tucked away in the shopping center across from Sunrise, but well worth the trip. read more

Haven is an extremely talented baker. I too love to bake but baking non-dairy stuff has always given me a headache trying to source ingredients and ultimately not loving the results. Havens treats are still so moist and delicious despite being non-dairy. No shade to them, but he does vegan cupcakes much better than Pushkin's does!
