Since we had 4 people eating and I wanted to try a bunch of things, I went a little crazy on the order. I went with a pound of sausage, a pound of brisket, a pound of pulled pork and a rack of ribs. I also ordered baked beans, mashed potatoes and green beans as sides. I could have ordered half of that and still had leftovers. Nothing necessarily stood out as great. The green beans were pretty subpar - they tasted like they were straight out of a can. The baked beans were unimpressive. I think everything else ranged from decent to pretty tasty. But the best thing about this place was that a mountain of food was had for $102. We all could have eaten at least two full meals from this amount of food. Would it have been much more delicious if it had come from Killen's? Absolutely. It also would have cost twice as much. This is an incredibly small and humble operation, so I was glad to support them. If you're looking for bang for you buck in Montgomery, this is a good choice.

Unfortunately, they were out of lemonade and no other juice options available for my grandson so he had to go with water. We didn't order any extra sauces for the crawfish to be tossed into as we wanted to try them as they were intended. My daughter and son-in-law's order seem to be more medium and smalls while ours was strictly smalls pill was easy. Taste was good. My daughter also ordered a half pound of boiled shrimp. They were very tasty and buttery easy peel and decent size the potatoes were tasty without being overly seasoned. The Thai sauce is a good addition to add a little more flavor. We are looking forward to coming back when the season gets a little more stable and trying different Crawfish varieties this is a great outdoor spot in our little town.

And to make matters worse for my appetite, I also ate more than half of the Southbound, making it 13 slices in one sitting for me. I didn't have to include these embarrassing details in my review, but here I am, outing myself. I thought the southbound was fine, but would probably go for something else on the menu next time. Lastly, we finished with a mother fudger brownie. When I ordered it (to-go), he asked if we wanted everything on top: ice cream, whip cream, etc. I said yes, because I assumed it would be kept separate. But unfortunately, it was all packed into one box, so by the time I got home, it was virtually all melted. Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious, but I'd probably only order this if you plan on eating it as soon as it's made. Tried The Meating Place and it did not disappoint . The brisket was super tender, juicy, and packed with smoky flavor. You could tell it was cooked low and slow the right way. The sides were great too, and the service was friendly and welcoming. Definitely one of those spots you leave already thinking about your next visit. We got the sample platter, 3 sides and a key lime pie. Everything was fantastic! This place was clearly run by an extended family. At several points different members of the family checked on us and asked if we needed anything. I loved the ambiance and the small town vibe. What a great introduction to Texas BBQ.
