Today I had the opportunity to visit the Sweet Red Peach bakery located in Pasadena. During my visit, I spoke with the owner, who recommended that I try their Deluxe Carrot Cake. I recommend getting there early to ensure you have a good selection to choose from. By the time I arrived, there were only a few items left, which was a bit disappointing. As someone who's a big fan of bakeries that sell simple but delicious desserts, sweet red peach really hits the spot in every way I could ask for. I came here once thinking I'd just try it, and I've now been three separate times because I can't stop craving their cake slices! I dream about their German chocolate cake, and as much as I wanna try different slices, I can't help but choose that flavor every single time. The couple of other items I've tried were also delicious, so I'm excited to try more of their items in the future once I can pry myself away from the German chocolate slices. A friend got admitted to Huntington and we brought her a sweet treat after they cleared her for solid foods. This was the best surprise for her. I went to Sweet Red Peach this afternoon. I could smell cookies and cinnamon rolls baking. I took a hot cinnamon roll to go. It was too wonderfully gooey on top to eat in the car and no longer hot an hour later when I got home but it was still delicious; tender, gooey, fresh. Next time I'm out in Pasadena I will go by to try something else and likely pick up some sweets for the office. It seems you can't go wrong with what you order here--we tried the toffee chocolate chip cookie, a slice of red velvet cake, and peach cobbler, and were impressed by all 3! Toffee chocolate chip cookie: gooey (perfect for cookie dough lovers!) and loaded with chocolate, toffee, and nuts. Very sweet, best with a glass of milk. Red velvet cake: the cream cheese frosting, though delicious, was too sweet for me but the sponge was perfect, super moist and with slight cocoa flavor. Peach cobbler: perfection. Juicy slices of peach spiced with cinnamon (and none of the gloopy syrup you'd find in a grocery store pie) covered with buttery, flaky, and crisp pie crust. Highly recommend heating it up at home! I guess I've been spoiled by too many excellent Black cooks, because the two items I tried here were mediocre at best. The banana pudding's puddling was grainy and off-putting (I've only experienced silky smooth vanilla pudding in BP); the sweet potato pie was OK but they added cinnamon to the filling when I was told nutmeg & vanilla (maybe bourbon) were the only flavorings that should be used in sweet potato pie (it's not pumpkin pie). I gave it two chances. The first time I tried the 7 up cake and there wasn't a lemon lime flavor to be found! The glaze they used was "different" Im glad they skimped on it cause it wasn't great. The bread of the of cake didn't give pound cake at least not all butter pound cake it was crumbly and an eye blink from they dry side but hey everyone has an off day. I gave it a second chance with yellow chocolate and butter pecan pound cake and again I don't care for the texture of their cake. The hype surrounding this place is just that. I went to the Pasadena location a few weeks ago. I had tried the Inglewood location years ago and loved the yellow cake with chocolate frosting. My legal secretary was leaving our office and I wanted to bring some slices of cake to her departure lunch but didn't need a whole cake. They were out of the yellow cake when I showed up but they gave excellent customer service and I was able to arrange to get slices for the next day's lunch. I also got a slice of German chocolate in case someone preferred that flavor. Sure enough the cake was a huge hit. My colleague brought the slice of German chocolate to his wife and reported to me the next day that she said it was the best she had ever had. I also tried their butter pecan soft serve while I was there and it was delicious. This cute shop is so welcome to Pasadena and everyone should try it. read more

I've been a fan of the German chocolate cake at the original SRP in Inglewood and was interested in trying this franchise location because it's close to home. It did not disappoint. Same moist chocolate cake! Same creamy buttery coconut pecan frosting! Same gigantic slice (easily two servings)! I went mid-day on a Friday, parking was easy and service was fast and pleasant. I got there right in time because the guy after me ordered a ton of slices! Ok, I've now tried both their cinnamon role and another very popular one in the city (Pasadena). The other place has great coffees and cookies and other things, but Sweet Red Peach hands down best cinnamon role out there, no contest. Best cinnamon role in Pasadena! In fact, I think they just won a contest, a real one! All of their cakes looked so good, I can't wait to go back and pick up a few (red velvet, German chocolate, coconut!). I have always recommended sweet red peach but this location is horrible. I have been several times around opening and there is always only 7 items out ???? Why do you open at 11 if nothing is ready until 12-1:00pm. You typically don't wait at a bakery unless they run out and are making more. You wait a pizza parlor or even fine dining but not a bakery. I have never in my life experienced this and is very frustrating I always come out of my way for nothing to be ready. I purchased my wedding cake from the one in Inglewood and it was amazing. Even the Menifee location has items ready on time. The Inglewood location opens at 11:00 with so much ready. They need better preparation here it is ridiculous. read more

The cake slices were really good. I purchased several different slices because I could not decide which one to get. There was a pineapple/cheesecake type of cake, and it was SO good! Devoured it! And the carrot cake!!!!.....oh my goodness! YUM! My only issue was a lemon pound cake; the cake was very hard, almost like it was really old. There was not any moisture and it crumbling apart. I think something was maybe missing, and that was freshness. I grabbed a few of these so I was really disappointed. Other than that, everything was very good! We eagerly anticipated trying the peach cobbler nachos after seeing the article come out in Eater but after getting off work at 6:30pm to our dismay there were only 3 cakes left in the window and that the peach cobbler "sold out hours ago." There was nothing left. We drove from Monrovia hoping to try their highly anticipated desserts, but left disappointed. Definitely should advertise that they are sold out or should close up earlier instead of staying open for customers that drive from a ways away. This Sweet Red Peach does not meet the quality of the original Sweet Red Peach in Inglewood. I would travel to Inglewood from Pasadena because the desserts were AMAZING and you couldn't go wrong. Sadly to say the Pasadena location does not meet the same quality standards. I purchased a Yellow cake with chocolate frosting, that crumbled with the touch of a fork. I've visited this location 4 times since opening and tried the German chocolate, Carrot cake, Butter pecan pound cake, and the White cake with strawberry's. There was something wrong with each cake, from dryness to minimal toppings or frosting. This is not what I'm used to receiving when I visit a Sweet Red Peach. With this said, I can honestly say it's a "no" for me, and I don't plan on visiting it again no time soon. read more
