DoorDash delivered crispy fish and Pork Crispy Egg Rolls

Brought a group of 13 ladies celebrating September and October birthdays. One of the gals celebrating is Laotian, so she did yes let's go for it. I was the only one who had been here, and I love it. It was everyone else's first time. We all live about 20 minutes away so it's not bad at all. The service was amazing, Michael did a great job taking our orders, with no stress, he was actually pretty calm with having such a large group during lunch. Everyone loved what they ordered. Thank you Aileen for the complimentary chicken skins...mmm!!! Now that all my friends know where this place, I have to take my own family. Next time I want to try other items in the menu. The only reason I even heard of Sweet Rice is because as an Elite Yelp All Star I was invited to check out this place months ago. Thank you Yelp for introducing me to this place, and now my friends know about it Thanks Aileen!!

Went here for lunch with my husband during his lunch break. And it was great service very friendly and the food was good. We ordered a shrimp pad kee mao, Laos style papaya salad with shrimp, chicken wings, and a crab meat fried rice. Let's start off with the pad kee mao, it was full of flavor and I got it in 2 stars and it was a good spice lol. Second item was the crab meat fried rice with no spice for my kids to eat. And it was filled with crab meat, I would say it could use a tiny more season to it other than that it is good. The other dish we got was the Laos papaya salad and it's good! Very authentic flavors and we got that with shrimp and 1 star. And let me tell you that 1 star was pretty spicy but a good spicy. Next item was the chicken wings and it was good. Very crispy and good flavor to it I would definitely order that again. And lastly we got a few Thai tea drinks.

With all the construction and freeway closures, getting to Sweet Rice in Auburn from Shoreline was not bad at all on a Sunday. Traffic flowed smoothly each way and we didn't run into any issues. We arrived at 11 am opening and were immediately greeted and took a seat at a booth. Our server was attentive and made great recommendations. We ordered the Sweet Rice Mix Plate, which includes 3 meats: Lao Spicy Sausage, Crispy Pork Riblet & Beef Jerky and dipping sauce accompanied by sticky rice. Our meal also came with complimentary crispy chicken skin with 2 dipping sauces and sticky rice. We also ordered the recommended combo fried rice. All were delicious and flavorful! 3 stars was plenty spicy for us. I opted to try the Lao Papaya Salad, which was made with crab paste giving it a savory component. Not my favorite as I prefer the Thai papaya salad better, but I'm always up for trying something new.

This was our second visit and we are so glad we returned. Everything was great the first time and everything was great the second time. Located in a smallish shopping center about 2 miles from the Auburn Outlet Collection (a Starbucks in the same parking lot btw). Free parking. Plenty of seating inside and a very congenial staff. Delicious savory food plus iced tea and coffee. Do watch out for the spice level - they are not kidding! Cute decor. Clean bathrooms.

I want to give a full four star for this place but was disappointed in the crispy rice and not to mention that the entire place was freezing cold!! I could not get warm at all in this establishment. Last time I was here, the crispy rice was full of the pickled pork and full of flavor but when I came in yesterday I was digging through the rice for any signs of meat but they were so tiny and lacking. The Tom Kha soup was great, very flavorful and portion size was just right.

Food here was delicious! We got one appetizer and was given an appetizer that is not yet on the menu. Split between two people, we still had leftovers! Sweet Rice Mix Plate $24.99 There's sweet rice mix plate comes with three different types of meat, fried pork, riblets beef jerky, and a Lap spicy sausage. The beef jerky was a tad sweet, very well marinated, but does have that jerky texture which we were unsuspecting at first because the menu it just labels it as heavenly beef, but I didn't mind it as a lover of beef jerky . The fried pork riblets were so juicy. They were not greasy at all, and they had so much flavor with a pepper forward taste. The Lao spicy sausage was filled with lemon grass flavor that was herbal and really helped cut through the meanness of every item on this plate. It is spicy. It is not a fake mild spicy. It is definitely spicy but not an uncomfortable spicy instead, it is more like a nice kick. Thai Tea $4.99 Their Thai tea was very strong and you could tell that it was seeped in the leaves for a long time or at least uses a very strong mix to make the Thai tea. I did think this was a little too sweet but I am the type of person that likes my milk teas at 0% sweetness. Fried Chicken Skin not yet on the menu, but if they do put it on their menu, I would highly suggest you get it. It is so crispy not oily and although it is labeled as fried chicken skin, it does come with substantial chicken still attached to it. Seating is in booths which are spacious. We went on a weekday afternoon and it wasn't busy. We sat ourselves at any open booth and was given the menu at a later time.

We went with a big group of 8 people around 2 pm on a Sunday. It was still busy and I only saw two servers, but they managed to arrange a table for all of us, which I really appreciated given how small the restaurant is. I also liked that they have a self-ordering system on a screen, which made things quicker. The food leans on the sweeter side, but we still really enjoyed most dishes. My favorites were the Crispy Fried Pork Riblets, Lao Spicy Sausage, Somtam Thai, Laos Fried Rice, and Nam Khao. The Pad Thai was too sweet for my taste, the Beef Jerky was too hard and chewy, and the Fried Chicken Wings came out too dry. Still, overall it was a good experience and I'd come back if I'm in the area.

The Lao Platter alone is worth the visit! Served with papaya salad, rice noodles, cabbage, and pork rinds, it also includes other savory bites like hard boiled eggs, Vietnamese ham, cured pork sausage, egg rolls, chicken wings, crispy pork riblets, Lao beef jerky, Lao sausage, and sticky rice. The other dishes we ordered were full of flavor as well! I absolutely recommend the duck fat fried rice and the crispy fish, but you honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Service is friendly and fast! Dine-in or take it to go.

New favorite Thai restaurant !! I went here Sunday for a Yelp event, and got an order to go. I had excellent service and even better food. The restaurant was very clean and bright, they had lots of business which is always a good sign! I ordered my 2 favorites, crispy garlic chicken and pineapple chicken fried rice. The vibe at this place is more casual similar to a fast food diner. You order at a kiosk, and then the staff brings the food to your table. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken. Unfortunately, it was overly sweet. I understand Pad Thai tends to be on the sweeter side, but this was much sweeter than expected, especially compared to versions I've had at other places. I also ordered it with a highest spice level, but there was no heat at all. Beyond that, the dish lacked flavor overall, which made it a disappointment for me. I noticed the place was very crowded, which surprised me, given the experience. Maybe it works for others, but it just wasn't for me. Some of the staff seemed new and unsure about few processes, but the service was otherwise okay.

Sweet Rice - Where the Food is Fire and the Vibes are Friendlier Than Your Aunt at a Family BBQ If you've never had the pleasure of having your taste buds serenaded by Lao food, Sweet Rice is the place to begin your delicious descent into obsession. The food? Phenomenal. I'm talking "dream about it later" levels of good. Their laab had me questioning every salad I've ever eaten. The service? Friendlier than someone who offers you gum and a compliment. Staff treated us like regulars, even though it was our first time, and after that meal, it definitely won't be our last. Now, why 4 stars and not 5? Well, I reserve 5 stars for experiences where angels sing and my hair looks better afterward. There was a slight delay with one dish, but honestly, I didn't mind because I was too busy eavesdropping on a couple having a very intense debate. We also ordered everything family style so there was plenty to keep up content. We also struggled a bit to get waters refilled but I totally understand as the restaurant was busy. In short: Sweet Rice is sweet indeed. Come for the food, stay for the friendly faces--and maybe wear stretchy pants. You'll thank me later.

The service was amazing! Food was delicious! My friend and I ate family style so we could each try everything. Recommend the Crispy Garlic Fish, definitely the Duck Fat Fried Rice.& the Papaya Salad. The Crispy Garlic Shrimp had a savory sweet garlic sauce. The fish was coated in a light crispy batter. The fish was soft and tender. Duck Fat Fried Rice was my favorite. Well seasoned not too salty, with chicken, shrimp and beef. Of course with egg mixed in and green onions on top to give it that last perfect touch. The Papaya salad was tangy and spicy. The papaya was crunchy perfect on a hot day......or any day really. This was a place is a gem and I can't wait to come back again for my next meal.

Giselle was our server (sorry if I spelled that wrong) She was so sweet!!! We had their fried chicken skins (seriously guys put these on the menu or make them part of a secret menu. I'd order these. Soooo good. we also have their beef pad Thai. It was delish. Sweet but not too sweet and all the veggies that went with it were super Fresh. Chicken skins 5/5 delish Beef pad Thai 5/5 so dang good. Huge portions. Service 10/5 she was so friendly We will be back!!! If you're in the area stop! You won't be sorry.

We really wanted to like this place as we are huge fans of the Thai and Laos cuisines and we love supporting newer, smaller establishments. But it was disappointing. The decor and ambiance were nice. We ordered the chicken larb, pad see ew, Lao spicy basil, and pepper steak. We expected to have leftovers and take it home to eat later on since it was just the two of us and we ordered four dinner dishes totaling $54 First of all, this has to be one of the most non environmentally friendly restaurants. Everything they use is plastic and disposable. Your food comes in those plastic to go containers even when you're dining in and then they give you paper plates on top of it. If patrons are sitting down to eat, why serve it all in to go containers? They also give you water in to go cups with lids. Secondly, the food was disappointing... almost as disappointing as the portions. The Lao spicy basil was the only saving grace. That had a real authentic and flavorful taste. The other dishes were not Thai or Laos flavors. The pad see ew was pad Thai with pad see ew noodles... I didn't order pad Thai for a reason, but ended up getting pad Thai with thicker noodles, the pepper steak was way too thick and sweet. So the biggest issue I had was how much you pay for what little you get. The Lao spicy basil and pepper steak came in those two compartment plastic to go containers. One half of is filled with rice, the other half was filled with the entree. Every other Thai restaurant I've been to that comes with rice, they serve it on the side... and is not a part of the actual entree itself. So essentially $10.50-$11 dishes were for portions less than that of lunch specials at other restaurants. These containers are those meal prep containers so you get an idea of the size of it. Anyway, the container for the larb was filled halfway with a wedge of iceberg lettuce. For $11... and I've always had larb served with cabbage... Disappointing to say the least. We at least wanted to take our containers home so they could be put to use and not wasted... so I went and asked for a bag to put them in so the juices wouldn't leak in our car.. and the older lady was so rude about it. There is no service here... you pick up your own food and bus your own table. There are other Thai restaurants within a few miles that are way better. Maybe they'll improve with time, but I'd rather not waste my money here again. read more

Today is their grand opening day (4/5/2019). I'm a sucker for visiting restaurants on the first day they open, especially hitting up a ma and pop's store, it's a must!! The ladies behind the counter are nice and personable, you can tell it's a family run business, and not just someone working minimum wage for a large corporation. The interior's decoration is very minimal, which is nice. Simplicity is key!! However, it was a tad bit chilly inside. I was wearing a thick coat and still feel cold. Either they were blasting the AC on a 55 degrees weather or they don't have enough insulation. I was going to dine in but decided to get it to go, yes it was that chilly! Well, at least for me. On to the food!! Well, don't let this small, simple, low key restaurant deter you from trying out what could possibly be the best Kee Mao you've ever had! Again, I ordered it to go. And my food was still piping hot by the time I got home. I ordered mine with fried tofu. Their tofu is mini bite size, not used to it but it didn't bother me much. Same goes for the mango on the sticky rice, they're like the size of the toppings you get at a frozen yogurt shop. Give this place a try for yourself and you won't be disappointed. We have eaten here since it open and the last two visits have not been great. Tonight was the worst, zero greeting, food was not correct, and when approached that onions were on our food the employee said she would let them know. We waited and no new food came out. This dish was meant to be shared but due to my onion allergy, my kids just ate it. The employee a girl with long nails was less than friendly and honestly quite rude by rolling her eyes when I let her know about the food. This will be the last time we will come here and the place was dirty. $50 spent on food that I would have rather paid of fast food. read more

Fuck this place. If I can give it negative stars, I would. Fuck their customer service too. They fucking suck at putting people's orders together. They keep fucking forgetting shit. The first time it happened, I let it slide. The second time, I was pissed but not as pissed to leave a review. This time, I'm fucking done with them. The food used to be good but since they have new staff or something, the whole fucking place went to shit. If you're gonna order here and eat this shit, make sure all the shit that you ordered is in the bag before you leave. They just lost a customer, but I'm sure they don't give a fuck and it shows. THE PAD SA EEW IS SO GOOD! I could've just been extremely hungry but the pad sa eew was a highlight of my day. It's sweet but savory and I got the beef which is a go to when I get pad sa eew. The service was mediocre, but it's not like they could've done anything more. I'm not sure if they give chopsticks when you order, but if you want any utensils, you have to ask, which isn't really a bother. The pad thai was ok, I've had a lot better. I think when I come here again in the future I'd stick to the pad sa eew or one of the fried rice, because the pad thai just wasn't hitting. I would come here again because it's close to my church, but I probably won't go out of my way to get it unless I'm craving it extremely. read more

BEST THAI FOOD EVER! We got takeout earlier tonight from Sweet Rice in Auburn. I honestly wasn't expecting much, seems like I'm striking out during covid in terms of tasty, freshly prepared food. Man, was I wrong! Sweet Rice is now my "go to" for Thai food. The staff are super friendly, and our order was correct (I regularly end up with takeout that is burned, dried out, or cold. The food was still very warm, the veggies and meat were perfectly cooked, and the spice level was perfect. I found Sweet Rice here on Yelp and I agree with other reviewers, it is an excellent place for Thai food!! read more

Nice and clean inside. Chicken wings needed sauce or something to make them less dry. Crab fried rice had too much sauce and smelled like it had syrup in it. Larb chicken salad was a bit bland. Pork spring rolls are great! Perfectly cooked and good flavor, beef broccoli had good flavor. Although, I was disappointed mostly with the fried rice - I am curious how some other dishes would be and willing to try it again. read more

This place is doing to-go orders and delivery only. Their food is phenomenal and very reasonably priced. I ordered a papaya salad, fried chicken skin, and garlic rib tips. The food came out about 15 minutes after ordering. All of them tasted excellent. The fried chicken skin would be more appropriately named fried chicken pieces with skin. Also, the sauce accompanying the entrees all tasted very similar, which results in a lack of variety in terms of flavor. With that said, I still very much enjoyed this place. read more

First time ordering from them and the food was okay. Maybe I had high expectations since seeing the reviews but it wasn't amazing. I ordered Larb chicken (Laos style) 5 star and Laos spicy sausage with a Thai tea. The Larb wasn't spicy at all, it didn't have no flavor. It was very bland and very dry! The spicy sausage wasn't spicy either it was a little more on the sweet side. Maybe I'll order again and try something different but tonight's dinner wasn't amazing. It was just a waste of money tbh. read more

Decent food but there are some serious problems: The young lady working the front counter is the definition of not caring about customer service. She mumbles on the phone, doesn't give you an actual time when your food will be done if they are late, and just doesn't really care about customer service. Food is always spicy even if you order mild. They always take longer than they quote you. read more

I came here during my lunch for work and was starving! I ordered a Kao Piek and vegetarian egg roll to go. When I arrived everyone was so nice and the place was clean. I got to my car and decided to take a bite out of my egg roll (which was a big portion) and realized it has pork in it. The staff exchanged my egg roll with a vegetarian one and I ended up eating my Kao Piek at the restaurant. I REALLY enjoyed my soup... nice for the weather and I love the tofu in it. The two young ladies were nice about it and kindly comped my egg rolls. I like the level of attentiveness and apologetic demeanor. I would just add to relay to the cook to cook the egg rolls a little longer to taste the taro. All in all, I would definitely return! read more

Tucked away in a strip mall, you have to know it's there to find it or just use google maps. Found this place in an email from Yelp talking about places near me. What caught my eye was the crab fried rice. How you ask could fried rice with crab in every bite be bad, it can't and it was good. The pad Thai was some of the best that I've had and would absolutely order it again. The cashew chicken was just so so and not something I'd get again. You can pick the heat when you order which is nice. It's a small place and you can eat in but I recommend ordering on line and then picking up. We live 15 minutes away and the food was still hot when we got home. Some folks were just walking in and ordering and I overhead the person taking the order that it would be an hour. read more

Man I really wish this didn't happen to me because I really want to like this place. I don't know if there is any relation to the Tacoma location but this place seems to run off a totally separate crew. Every time I come here, the staff seemed disconnected. I know it's work but it reflects well on the place when you say hi, smile, and say thank you. Like I said, Tacoma is on-point but I will not order from this location again. I was excited to try this Lao & Thai place with my friends. The place looks nice and clean when we walked in, which was a plus. We ordered nam khao, mixed plate, pud see ew, and papaya salad. The food was good, pud see ew was more oily than I've had it... There was a piece of plastic in the papaya salad but we just shrugged and said it's a small mistake....... I also ordered a pud see ew & papaya salad to go.. My papaya salad also had plastic in it... hmmm...? Good thing I looked at my food closely before eating. Oh, it just happened to us that their ice machine wasn't working, as well as their soda machine.... And they ran out of fried ice cream.. ‍ Overall, food was ok... And disappointed with the plastic that were in both the papaya salad we ordered.. Maybe it was their off day.. read more

Excellent food that did not disappoint. Tried the pepper steak at three on the heat index and it was just perfect. The vegetables were done right and not overcooked. We will definitely be back as this is the best Thai in Auburn hands down. read more

This spot usually has good food but I was unhappy when I got home and found such tiny amounts of food. I ordered mixed vegetables and combo fried rice. I paid $30 for 2 very small portions. Seems a bit much! read more

First of all, the staff is great. The restaurant is clean and they are good at Covid precautions. Secondly the food we have eaten is fresh and delicious. Won Ton Soup- my friend loved it Chef Salad have had this several times Satay- another yum by a friend Pad se ew- my friend loved it. I can't wait to try the Pad Thai and other dishes. Sweet Rice: This review is from July, we ordered the Phad Thai, Fried Rice with chicken, a beef dish and the chicken soup. I was very excited to try the chicken soup. The broth with some hot sauce and spices added was pretty good. But the noodles were just very mushy. I know that texture of noodles they can get like that, but these were not good at all. The Phad Thai was very weak in flavor, normally it's over flavored in this case very under whelming. The fried rice was fine. The beef dish was just okay, it wasn't anything special at all and little more pricey than the other dishes. The place is very nice and clean and packaging is nice aesthetically. Overall food was just okay, I'll give the place another go and try some of there sausages and other dishes which look good. read more

The atmosphere was very modern and nice, the staff was very friendly. They even brought my daughter desert. They of course asked first, she loved the mango ice cream...thank you! The larb was good and the Nam was bomb!!! Wings and sauce delish. I will be back can't wait to come back and try more things. Also I noticed complaints about dishes were not environmentally friendly, well look here (I posted I photo)compostable dishes which is extremely environmentally friendly. Being generous with 2 stars. I was excited to have Laos food close to home but was quickly disappointed. -Mixed plate: super dry and overcook I couldn't even eat the riblets. Lao sausage has a very mushy nasty texture. -Tom yum: looked like scrap veggies and meat just thrown into a soup. Both dishes were pretty good. For the spice was level I got a 2 and 3 for the beef. Which were on point with the level. The duck fat fried rice was tasteful with a good amount of beef, chicken and shrimp. (I never had duck so I thought it'd give this dish a try, but with that, I can't truly say whether there is a duck fat flavor.) If you want real authentic Lao/Thai food, go here!!!! We ordered Nam Kao and chicken wings. You know it's 100% traditional when there's Nam Kao! The chicken wings were perfectly crispy, just how we like it! The Thai Tea has just the right amount of sweetness. I love that they have a kids menu for those parents that have picky kids (hence the nuggets and fries for our son- see pic below). Not only is their food flavorful and delicious, but the portions are generous and are reasonable priced. The food came out quickly and service was on point. The staff really gave us that welcoming family vibe! My family used to own a Thai/Lao restaurant in AK for 20 years, so my review is pretty damn credible. I love Thai and really enjoyed the subtle differences that Lao brings. The Lao Papaya salad, which is more sour than the Thai version was really good. Same with the Tom Yum soup, many different vegetables than I'm used to in the traditional Thai version but also very satisfying! Kudos, will be back ! read more

Our family down in Dallas, Texas (Sticky Rice, Sabaidee, Sweet Rice, and Zaap) started a Lao food movement. We are excited to be apart of the movement here in the Pacific Northwest. This is the third Sweet Rice location.

They have probably…read moreone of the most chaotic and confusing menus I've ever seen, but they serve some really excellent food. Walking in for a Saturday lunch into this establishment, the entire restaurant smelled like sizzling meat and aromatic herbs. This was a little past noon and most of the staff were in the back taking their lunch break. There was only a single guy in front managing everything. We placed our order at the counter and were given an estimate of 20 minutes for the food. It took exactly 20 minutes, and he even gave us a 2 minute warning when it was almost ready. #4 Combo ($28.99) - This is a huge portion, easily enough for two people. In fact, this was the only thing we ordered (they had run out of the other item we wanted) and we finished only around 75% of the meal. The plate includes an entire mound of rice under all the meat. The photos of this dish are deceptive - the meat on top hides what's underneath. It's actually an appropriate amount given all the protein, a far cry from other places that only give a small bowl of rice. The rice is fried until dry and leathery, sticking together into larger chewy structures. It's actually an excellent texture for this dish. And the flavor is phenomenal, giving the fragrance of herbs, ginger, garlic, and other spices. In terms of meat, the dish includes two Kroeung meatball that taste of lemongrass and aromatic herbs. There's crunchy garlic stuck to the outside and everything is pan fried until a crust develops from the great sear and char. The inside is so meaty, with lots of whole pieces of meat rather than ground. It gives a burst of fragrant umami. There's a chicken wing, stuffed with vermicelli and shredded chicken meat. Again, it has a very fragrant and lemongrassy flavor. The chicken skin pulled along the stuffing gives an extra oomph of texture. Finally, there's an entire chicken leg/thigh quarter. It's so good, one of the best chicken quarters I've ever eaten. I especially love the scoring on the skin of the thigh that allows the pan sear to really develop an extra crusty layer from the additional surface area. The chicken meat interior is so tender and juicy and gives such an amazing coconut enhanced flavor, full of umami. The chicken fat and skin gives that crispy fattiness that enhances the chicken to the max. Now that's how to cook chicken! On the side are some spicy and crunchy daikon pickles mixed with some mint. Also, a fragrant and really spicy minced pepper mixture that gives an instant fresh burn. It's not smoky at all. (5/5) Everything Theary Cambodian Foods serves is a flavor bomb right to the gullet. Delicious, delicious, delicious food. Too bad it's so far away from me, otherwise I'd be a regular.

The breaded oysters are fantastic, especially drizzled in the chili sauce on the side. Their dinner bread is so freaking amazing--I actually dream about it, and the bacon appetizer is to die for! I had some fancy strawberry mocktail. It was delish! The only letdown was the ribeye steak, which was super unfortunate since that's exactly what we went for. I took my sister there for her birthday, and the staff was incredibly kind. They walked us through the menu, gave her a customized birthday card, and brought out a complimentary dessert. It was a very sweet gesture, and all of our side dishes were completely delicious. The only issue--and it's a huge one--was the steak. We wanted to share a steak because we were ordering so many sides and appetizers. My sister hates pink meat because it looks like blood to her, whereas I love medium-rare. I was totally willing to take one for the team for her birthday, so we explicitly explained to our server that we needed it cooked somewhere between medium-well and well-done (light brown all the way through). The server also talked us out of the dry-aged option, and I convinced my sister to get a ribeye instead of a New York strip for the rich, marbled flavor. When the steak arrived, it looked pink from the melted butter on top, so I tried to hide it from her. But once we cut it open, the entire thing was a perfect medium-rare. Great for me, but definitely not what we ordered! My sister didn't want to complain because the staff was so sweet, but this is a steakhouse--getting the temperature right is a big deal. It's like ordering an iced coffee and getting it steaming hot; it's just wrong. I showed the server that it was completely pink in the middle, and she offered to cook it more. We all know sending a cut steak back ruins the meat, but I hoped my sister could at least eat some of it. When it came back, it was in a weird state--gray on the inside with a bright red skin on the outside, likely from being nuked in a microwave or thrown under a broiler. Worse yet, the center of both halves was *still* raw and pink and kind of gray... I pointed it out again, but nothing came of it. We didn't even get a discount or an offer to try again another time, which sucked for our first visit. In hindsight, the kitchen didn't let the steak rest because all the juices immediately pooled on the table when we first cut it. I love a juicy ribeye, but this was the exact thing that grosses my sister out. She took a leap of faith trusting me and the steakhouse, and now she'll probably never let me pick the meat options again, lol. While our server took great care of us, the free birthday dessert is standard policy for anyone celebrating-- They didn't give us any sort of accommodation for the inedible $100 steak. Which was super disappointing because it would have made our experience easier to digest. The bread was fabulous, the bacon was to die for, the sides were amazing, and the mocktails were as fancy as ever! I might give them one more shot to see if the kitchen was just having an off night. If the steak still fails, I'll just go back strictly for the dinner rolls! It was just disappointing because everything else, including my mocktail, was absolutely fabulous. You'd think if they mastered all of that, they could handle a classic ribeye.‍ I haven't been back yet. I tried to go recently with my husband while staying at the hotel, but he wasn't feeling well. Sadly, this is the second time we've had the same experience.

Tried something new, never had Lao food before, read the reviews and tried some new things, and got a safe dish too. Ordered the sweet rice mix plate (had a few kinds of meat on it), papaya salad Lao style (bit of an acquired taste), nam khao-crispy fried rice lettuce wrap cured pork( was my favorite) and got a safe dish pad thai chicken. My kids loved the meat on the mix plate was a hit with them, everyone tried the papaya salad no one wanted seconds on that dish (first time we tried this type of food, was a cold salad and tasted very tangy not anyone from my house pallet preference). The nam khao had a fun texture and we wrapped it in the lettuce was a fun tasty dish, I cant eat a whole meal of.just that but it was good paired with the other dishes. The pad thai was our safe dish cause we know our kids like that so at least they would eat something we got, but they preferred the meat and sweet rice. Next time I go I will get the pork from the mix plate, and the nam Khao and look for other new dishes to try some other dishes out. read more

I recently visited the establishment with my wife and daughter for the first time, having seen it featured on TikTok. Upon entering, we noticed a photo shoot taking place, utilizing large lights that partially obstructed our path to the ordering area and restroom. It would have been more convenient if this had been scheduled for a Sunday, when the establishment is closed. Nevertheless, we proceeded to place our order via a touchscreen system, which prompted us for a tip before any service had been rendered. We ordered the platter, kao piak, Lao Crunchy Fried Rice (Nam khao), and Lao coffee. Unfortunately, the only aspects that we genuinely enjoyed were the spicy level of the Lao sausages, albeit lacking in flavor, and the papaya salad. The kao piak was overly sweet, and the nam khao was soggy and failed to resemble the traditional dish. I came into Sweet Rice to check out their new Lao platter and let me tell you, it was insanely GOOD! The flavors were spicy, aromatic & bold. It's clear they're honoring tradition while keeping it fresh. Every element felt thoughtfully put together, with flavors that hit home for anyone who knows real Lao food. The sticky rice was soft but held together perfectly, just how it should be. The jeow som & jeow mak len had a spicy, umami kick that ties everything together. You could tell they didn't hold back on the traditional flavors. The papaya salad was fresh and funky in all the best ways--crunchy, sour, spicy, with that classic fermented fish sauce that was authentically Lao. Not toned down, watered down, it was perfect! I love their Lao platter! Surprisingly, it's not listed on the menu, so here's a heads-up -- it's $60 per tray. It's meant to serve three people, and we were absolutely stuffed with just two of us sharing it. My favorite items were the pork ribs and the nam khao -- both were incredibly flavorful! To top it off, they gave us a complimentary mango sticky rice dessert. It was delicious -- the sticky rice had a lovely pandan flavor. Major points for the service! I'll definitely be coming back. Next time, if it's just the two of us, I'll stick with the pork ribs and nam khao -- the full platter is a bit too much for two. If you're coming with a group, though, the platter is a fantastic option. It's super satisfying and lets you sample everything, like you're at an Asian street food festival. So apparently Yelp decided to delete my previous review... but I came back again for their most recent soft opening and ordered their tofu pad see ew, kao piak sen and pandan coconut sweet rice with mango. Their pad see ew is the best I've had in a long time. I actually went a year and a half without eating Thai food because I got food poisoning from another restaurant in the area and was scarred for a little bit lol. There is not a lot of authentic Laos cuisine around but this place has the spiciest papaya salad. If you can handle spicy, I recommend trying. Customer service was also a plus!
