This place was highly recommended by a couple of my friends. It's right down the road, so I figured I would give it a shot. I was told the green curry is the best. We got the spring rolls, pad thai, red curry, and the pepper garlic chicken. I took a bite of my husband's curry, and that was good. Not the best, but good. The food was decent. Wanting to try something different from our usual in Carrollton, so we came here. There are 2 items on the menu that you don't normally see in thai/lao restaurants around here. Thats: Tom - Zap Pork - Rib Spicy and Sour Soup and Gaeng Nor Mai Sai Yanang. Gaeng Nor Mai Sai Yanang is Spicy lao bamboo soup fresh thinly slice bamboo shoot yanang juice mix veggies and mushrooms. The Tom - Zap pork is Galangal chili pork short ribs with soup. We wanted to try. I got the bamboo soup and husband got the rib soup. She was of course like I don't think you'll like it. Husband reassured her that our palates aren't white. She was like are you sure? White people can't handle! Haha and so our spicy bowls of goodness arrived. I must say it was definitely spicy. A uncomfortable spicy. However, both of the dishes were good. The rib soup was spicy and you also got a hit of sourness. I liked it. The bamboo was very earthy and very spicy. Alot of green. It was good. She told me after I was eating it, that is what lao people eat to make them "go"..lol well, thanks for telling me now. They were sweet people and kept our waters filled. Definitely enjoyed my visit. I went after work and ordered to go when I arrived. My wait was only about 15 mins and they offered to bring it out to my car. Inside was spacious and clean. They have a high top area that seems like it's underway to be something else soon. I ordered the pepper steak with a 2 spice level. It was so good, but it was a bit spicy for me. I ordered some food via delivery tonight and there was a booger in my rice and ants on my black rice pudding container. So f***ing disgusting. This place needs a visit from a health/food inspector ASAP please!!!! Edit/Response to the manager/owner: I still have the rice and I know what scorched rice versus something wet and slimy and completely different texture/look. Stopped in last night to pick up. I didn't even realize this place was in Carrollton and just saw it driving by. Was so happy with the fresh spotlessly clean interior. Very modern and tasteful decor. The owner was extremely nice. We found out that if you eat in it's a BYOB which is always nice. The menu is great. Features, Asian Fusion and leaning a little more to Thai and Vietnamese which are my favorites. We got a variety of things. Fresh Spring Rolls which were very good. Riblets were great but I did feel like the portion was very small for the price. Pork Skewers also very good with a delicious marinade The Star was the massuman Curry. Literally the best we have ever had. Rich and delicious. Full of peanuts. It was so so good. My favorite was the nam khao (crispy fried rice) & thum mak huong spice level 3 was just right. Enough kick for us! We had the Lao beef jerky, crispy chicken wings & sticky rice. Everything was pretty good. 4 stars just because of the $1.99 dipping sauces. I think the prices are too steep but nonetheless, they were good. The jeow som isn't your traditional jeow som, it reminds me of egg roll sweet and sour sauce with fish sauce. Can't wait to come back and try to traditional Laos soups!!!!! read more

Food was done fast but there really was no flavor to them... 1. Beef pad thai- extra spicy Huge portion but the flavor wasn't quite there... I asked for extra spicy and this had no spice at all. I did get a lot, but it didn't taste like pad Thai at all. 2. Side of fried rice It was fried rice. Nothing special. A little on the dry side. 3. Fried riblets Probably the best thing we ordered here. Would get this again if we ever decide to come back. 4. Papaya salad- extra thai spicy Not spicy at all. Tasted like 0 spice. The flavor was terrible. I could barely even eat it. I've order Laos papaya salad from so many places and love it. The taste of the papaya salad here was missing something. Would NOT order this. Nice little Thai/Laotian restaurant - mostly Thai. Great appetizers. I loved the crispy rice lettuce wraps with tofu. I can never find vegetarian lettuce wraps. And these were good. The Pad Thai fries were a good appetizer too. We had Pad Bamee which was really good and green tofu curry which was not bad. But the hit of the night was the black rice pudding for dessert. Attentive service is always appreciated. I ordered the pad Kee mow with chicken at a level 4 spice. I could have done with much spicier but the flavor was well developed. My bell peppers were sautéed yet still crisp. The noodles were made in house and very wide just how I like them. The chicken breast was juicy and tender and a great vehicle for the sauce. Everytime I'm in there, the hostess/servers are very kind, and if my order isn't quite ready yet they'll bring me a water without me asking. I cannot recommend the Duck Fat Fried Rice and Spicy Sausage enough! I've tried other dishes there but so far those two are my favorite. The Duck fat rice is super flavorful and a great portion. The spicy sausage blew me away the first time I had it. I've never tasted sausage like that in my life. It's sweet and spicy and sour and savory all at the same time.
