Came here on a Sunday afternoon specifically for their fluffy pancakes. I recommend making a reservation if you don't want to run the risk of waiting for a table as there is very limited seating. With that being said, the cafe is in a quieter area so there wasn't much people when I was there. I visited with three other friends and we got sweet somethings' fluffy pancakes (one order has two pancakes, ~$16.50), sandwich with soup combos (~$13), and avocado toast (~$10). While their food was not bad, I wouldn't say it was the best either given its price point. The pancake was slightly deflated when we got it and more dense than expected - the lemon flavour was a bit strong for my personal taste but my friends enjoyed it. With that being said, my friends did like their sandwiches and I liked my avocado toast as well. Overall, I likely wouldn't return to this cafe again as it is out of the way for me. If you want to make the trip for their fluffy pancakes, whether you like it or not will depend on your taste/texture preference. Sweet Somethings is a cute local neighbourhood cafe with good service and I'll give this place a 3.5 stars (rounded up to a 4) for that. I was really excited to try this place and ordered a cake for my mom's birthday. I wanted to love this place and the cake was beautiful, but overall not very good (I'll get to why in a moment). I emailed them the feedback afterwards in good faith but I never got a response, which was actually quite disappointing. The cake wasn't horrible, but I don't think I'll be going back especially since they didn't both to reply to me about the issues afterwards. I ordered a three layer chocolate cake but ended up getting a 5 layer cake that was just way too big for us; it wouldn't even fit in the box they provided me and since I went to pick it up alone, I had to drive with the (extremely tall) cake in an open box (no lid) on the floor of the front seat. Those are just minor annoyances, but it is an expensive cake and I didn't feel I received what I ordered. It wouldn't have been the end of the world if the cake tasted amazing but it didn't and unfortunately more than half of it went into the garbage which felt like such a waste. I wasn't angry about any of this though as I figured, shit happens and maybe someone made a mistake? So I emailed them just to provide the feedback but it irked me that they never responded to me. read more

Got the Cupid's Coffee (rose milk latte) This was a limited time thing. It came in a waffle cone lined with dark chocolate. My friend and I went when I was a bit sick, so my sense of taste and smell was a bit off, but from what I did taste I did like this. It had a very faint rose flavour (again, that was probably due to me being sick). I got the avocado toast with an egg ($10.25) From what I was able to taste, I really did like it. I found that everything tasted really fresh! Would recommend. My friend got the grilled cheese to which I had a bite. There was a LOT of cheese! Again, from what I could taste, it was really good! This Quaint little English Style Coffee/Tea shop is colourful, cozy, welcoming and the staff are just lovely. I usually meet friends here for a salad lunch but my kids love the pancakes so I'm often stopping by for sweet treats. The coffee is my favourite but my husband is a true Brit and loves his Tea so thankfully we are both catered for. I've bought many cakes here for special occasions and they're very accommodating with my families' dietary needs. The owners are local and have done a fantastic job staying open and making customers feel safe. You can clearly see they've put their heart and soul into this business and it's become a long-time favourite of mine and many of my friends. read more

Came in for brunch with wife and daughter, drove from Deep Cove with a lot of anticipation. Reservation required and made, got here and only one of the five tables occupied. Ordered coffee, told no filter coffee, only Americano...130 pm at a brunch restaurant on a lazy Sunday and no filter coffee. Daughter ordered Fluffy Pancakes, drove across town for this and got two pancakes, 2.5 cm thick and 10 cm across with strawberries and whipped cream. Eggs and greens (mixed salad with one poached egg) disappointed, title implies at least two eggs, you can have any style as long as it's poached, asked for soft poached and that got screwed up, my egg could have been used on a clay court. Asked where washroom was, told that they don't have one for the public because it would mean having customers walk through kitchen, directed to Shoppers Drug Mart across the street. Strange to find a 'restaurant' serving sit down food and drink without being required to provide on site restroom. All in all, I regret the trip and the disappointment for my shut-in daughter. I stumbled across this place when I was looking for an escape from Vancouver's typical grey and rainy winters day. Sweet Somethings was the perfect getaway, providing warmth and comfort combined with traditional decor and a huge variety of delicious looking sweets. I was here yesterday to try the fluffy pancakes. I had a reservation and was shown our table. The restaurant is very small and cramped. Someone from the table beside me had to ask me to refill their water glass because there is no space to walk to do it yourself. Me and my date sat down waiting for a menu then realized you had to walk up and order. It would have been nice if the girl who had shown us our table had told us that we had to walk up to order because we were at our table looking at the servers waiting for them to give us a menu. So I walked up and ordered and paid at the same time where I also tipped before eating. Anyways I was okay with all of this knowing it was a new small business but when the table who had ordered the same pancakes after me and recieved it before us was when I got upset. The waitress had clearly noticed she had made a mistake after giving the table after us their pancakes first but did not acknowledge and apologize for her mistake. Another server came out and brought our avacado toast and said their was a mix up with our order. I told her we were still waiting for our pancakes which the table after us had already received. My date and I were going to get a cupcake for the road but after the bad service we don't plan to go here again. I have been here many times since it opened as I live locally. Overall we need this type of sweet independent cafe in Dunbar. They pastries and cakes are very good and well priced fresh with a huge selection and the atmosphere and decor cute and quaint. The food is hit or miss , so I think their strength is really coffee with a piece of cake or pastry. I appreciate their efforts to have a huge menu but do not feel they really need that and could whittle it down to a few key staples like grilled cheese, avocado toast , etc. They also have ice cream which is a big hit with neighbourhood kids. This seems like a family run place and there are indeed teenagers often behind the cashier. This is not Starbucks where you can mobile order and run in and out and demand immediate and perfect service. This is the kind of neighbourhood place where one pops in to savour a nice treat slowly. My family has been to this bakery often to get coffee and pastries. The service is so slow as there is one girl waitressing, serving and making coffee and tending to the front counter. We waited almost twenty minutes to get our coffee and then decided to just leave. There were six girls in the back sitting around talking. We won't return. read more
