We LOVE sweet stuff! While growing up in Floyd Knobs my family used Sweet Stuff all the time. My husband and I used to live down the street from the bakery and always got their double layer cakes for birthdays and anniversaries and we still use them even though we moved across the river. Come with your sweet tooth! And your self control or your going to leave with a lot treats and an empty wallet, but you won't regret it. Before I talk about the quality of the product I've got to write about the owners. There is just something special about people who really care about their customers and see every person who walks through the door as a good friend, even if it's your first time. You may not even realize that your talking to the owners, their Mom (or Grandma as the kids work here too) because there is no pretense, just great service. If you need hand holding and have a lot of questions they take the time to help you out. This is the kind of bakery where you go to order something special for an event or drop in when you just need a treat. And if you have a minute to hang out and talk they will try to make the time to say hello and you can tell they are honestly glad your there. I can't count how many businesses I've been in including some that I have left negative feedback on Yelp where they have no clue how to treat people. No customer service, no appreciation for your business or respect for your time. This is not the case at Sweet Stuff. You will find all the design books you would expect from a better bakery, a tasting room for wedding planning, and a great show case up front. As for the display case it's filled with salivate inducing treats to eat there or take back to the office or home. If your planning a special event they take the time to help you design a cake or other treat that matches your theme perfectly. Have a special invitation and design, they know how to match it, they probably even know where you got it and can match the design perfectly. I've gone to bakeries who make pretty, even amazingly artistic deserts that taste like junk. You know when you eat it and no matter how pretty it was your left regretting having eaten it. Perhaps even annoyed that you wasted the calories on a tasteless uninspired treat that makes you feel sick, this is not the case here. Everything is amazing, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, cheese cakes, danishes everything. These are the kind of treats you might say to yourself "I don't need those extra calories, but it was worth it"! It's that good! After spending some time picking the perfect deserts for two parties my wife was planning. And after one of the owners had spent a significant amount of time helping us locate the invitations my wife had sent to ensure she could match the design I started asking questions about other products. Some of you may know I like to cook and I also strive to avoid a lot of sugar. I had questions about how certain things were made and they were perfectly happy to answer all my questions. We ended up buying cookies, a pumpkin spiced cheese cake, and two pints of cakes that we wanted to share with our daughter and her husband to sample. The pints were not packed to be pretty, they were packed to be generous! These were not the kind of thing you'd display, this was the kind of treat you'd want to grab 3-4 other people and a bunch of spoons so everyone could share. Packed with flavor, creamy frosting that was not too sweet and just the right balance of tart/sour that must have come from cream cheese or sour cream. Blended in to balance out the sweetness and spices that were obvious and well represented, but not over powering. We tried the orange and the pumpkin cakes and the pumpkin cheese cake to take home for later. One callout was the frosted sugar cookie; My wife loves these but can be picky if not done right. She felt they were a little dry and not buttery enough and rather uninspired, just ordinary. Surprising compared to how awesome everything else was, but cookies are not their main thing, it's cakes and cheese cakes. Just one more great reason to drop into New Albany, along with the many other worthwhile restaurants without all the traffic and stress of the Highlands. read more

Thank goodness this bakery is not located in Louisville!! And that to get here requires a car. And a toll. Cause otherwise I'd be there everyday. Ive been eating their cakes and cupcakes and pies for a number of years and you simply can't go wrong. You can only go right because their cakes and cupcakes have flavor. And they are soft. And delicious. Two of our fav is chocolate, strawberry and orange dream. Oh my goodness that's three but they are amazing. I can't tell you how awesome the orange cupcakes are w cream cheese frosting. They burst w flavor and are amazing. The best I've had. They are simple. Sweet. Fresh. And must be ordered because they don't have them to sell in the fridge or cooler for walk-ins. Just typing this makes my mouth water. It's a short drive to New Albany and now that Market is two way street it's so easy to get there. Look for the purple trimmed building. You can't miss it. You don't want to. I had never heard of this bakery, but I was desperate before an event, and was calling everywhere! This is the only place that said they could take my order, and I am so happy they did! The cake was delicious, and it looked exactly like the photo that I sent them! Like, exactly. And seriously, it was delicious. Way better than some of the top rated Louisville bakeries that I usually would have gone to. And their turnaround time was so fast, with nothing but pleasant customer service. They have it right! The cupcakes are great and their customer service is exceptional. Seems like a really great business. Highly recommend this place! We had a situation with a two year old who had been promised a cupcake, but we were delayed in the restaurant and the bakery due to close - we called ahead and asked if they would give us 10 mins to get there and they waited for us. I needed a sweet treat and wanted something different from the cookies that I will pick up from a Louisville bakery down the road from me. Enter Sweet Stuff. I always get something from them during Harvest Homecoming, so I figured I could swing by here and pick something up from the shop. They have a small parking lot next to it, which is nice since I hate parallel parking. You can get slices of cake, cookies, doughnuts, pie, lots of stuff that you would expect to find at a bakery. However, I highly recommend my favorite item: the BUCKET OF CAKE. It is cake scraps, like from when they need to cut down or shape their cakes and form whatever else, in little bucket with gobs of frosting. My favorite is the chocolate cake with white frosting. My family was traveling through the area for a special birthday so I was unfamiliar with the area and relied on google to find options for me. It's been our tradition to do a special birthday cake, relevant to the year. I called without much notice to ask for a 30th birthday idea I had and they were right on it. Sweet Stuff is a great bakery with especially tasty german chocolate cake. It's one of the bigger bakeries I've seen, with half-a-dozen cake decorating stations; they definitely do a lot of wedding cakes, as evidenced by their reputation. Of all the places we tasted cake, they were the least expensive, so if you're looking for a budget baker, don't count Sweet Stuff out. I removed a star because I purchased a cake from them recently with bleeding icing on the top.There was a lot of condensation on the top of both of the cakes I bought and the blue birthday message had marbled the top of the cake because of it. Honestly, I was in a huge rush even if I was the kind of person to make a complaint (I'm not), but I also noticed that the worker who showed me the cake didn't say a word either. I don't know if he was just hoping I wouldn't notice (it was definitely obvious so he saw it) or if this is just a common issue for them. Looking back, I should have asked for a discount, but hindsight is 20/20. The cake is still tasty, so even though I won't be treasuring any photos of the cake, I get to eat something delish. read more

Sweet Stuff was the first place I visited when looking for a place to get my wedding cake and after our meeting I said "I AM DONE". THe owner is so nice and helpful. She did her best to save us money, like encouraging us to get less cupcakes than we initially thought. (She was right, by the way. If we had ordered what we had initially thought we would have had SO MANY to take home). Our cupcakes were delicious and the taste testing was great. The cake topper was so pretty, everyone raved about the delicious cupcakes, my groom loved his cake, and close to the wedding I ordered a cake for our photographer since it was her 30th birthday. She loved it and it was so pretty! I cannot recommend this place enough! I'll definitely be back when buying pastries and cakes for other events. read more

YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM. The company for which I work commonly uses Sweet Stuff for employees' birthday treats, and I'm pretty sure I could eat their cheesecake every.single.day.of.my.life. They knock "local business" out of the park, and are there for you in a pinch. We even used them for our rehearsal dinner cake, and we couldn't get enough of it! It is rare to find a bakery these days that offers breakfast pastries, desserts, and cakes all in one location. Thus I was excited to walk into Sweet Stuff and find an array of cookies, pies, brownies, cakes, donuts, and kuchen. While their offerings are varied, cakes are clearly their main business. They had several gorgeous wedding cakes on display and had a table stacked with binders full of sample cake photos. I purchased a single serving of red velvet cake and it was moist and rich. The next time I need a cake I wouldn't hesitate to order it from Sweet Stuff. However, I also picked up some sugar cookies that were dryer and more crumbly than I prefer. The cake was moist with small chunks of chocolate interspersed. The frosting was sweet but not too sweet. I also picked up a single cookie to try. My personal experiences with this bakery have been amazing. My first encounter was for a friends birthday three years ago, a simple order of chocolate cupcakes. The staff is kind and willing to help with any order and the time constraints of when you need it. I chose this bakery for my 21st birthday cake, my sister in laws bridal shower and baby shower, and any event that requires "sweet stuff". They have so many options and can really work with ideas that you may have for any occasion. The products are so well prepared. They make each item a work of art but don't leave out anything else. Extremely rude staff every time I've gone in, not to mention that the bakery uses all pre-ordered or boxed pastries. The boss tries to hide it from customers but if she were to be that concerned about this secret, she wouldn't treat employees poorly. Not to mention not giving employees their full paychecks. The boss here speaks poorly of employees to others as soon as said employees leave the room. All their donuts, pies, icings, etc. come from bagged/premade shipments and all the cakes are Duncan Hines, Betty Crocker, or whatever cheap boxed mixed they can order that week. Sanitation requirements are in no way met, from no glove wearing, proper food safety, or dishwashing. The tables that are used to prepare/decorate cakes are never properly sanitized, often with raw eggs still rubbed into the surface. Cakes are frozen for months before used and extremely poor quality. Don't waste your money on a "high-end" bakery that doesn't care for employees or customers. read more

The peanut butter pie is to DIE FOR. I honestly haven't had better pie anywhere else in the area. The key lime is fantastic and their basic chocolate cream pie is also very tasty. I used this bakery for my wedding, had cupcakes of all different flavors, and there were absolutely none left by the end of the reception because they were so good. I also got a small cake for my husband and I to cut, yellow with raspberry filling, and it was AMAZING. We were very sad when it as all gone! I am addicted to their sugar cookies. Yesterday, I was really craving these delicious treats, but it was a little after 6 o'clock and they were closed. I had called to see if they were open, but they were closed. The ladies stayed a bit and let me come in to get some cookies. I'm so appreciative! My ratings for three stars are specifically directed toward the taste. I chose to use this bakery based on reviews and the awards they have been given. We just celebrated my husbands 30th birthday. I had two cakes made. The taste of the cakes are phenomenal and I will definitely recommend this bakery based on taste. I wasn't very satisfied as far as decoration and their cakes aren't cheap so I was expecting some art work. The cakes were not decorated the way that I described and I used pictures and email as well as verbally expressing my wishes. When I arrived to pick up the cakes I had to wait for the writing to be put on the cake. They brought me a cake with an image in the middle with a bunch of blank white space. I wasn't very pleased. What I had asked to be written on the cake I then had to wait for them to write it out. I believe the cake decorating could have been as phenomenal as the taste. read more
