This is good pizza. I drive 15 minutes to get here, which means there are at least 10 closer places to me where I can get pizza. I like the thin crust, but not too thin. It isn't crispy or even burnt like so many brick oven places. A good balance of cheese and sauce. The large is pricey, but bigger than most large pizzas. My favorite is the pesto splash, most excellent. Today I got the pesto splash and added sausage. That was a brilliant combo. It is my new favorite. We moved to Acton in the fall and this is our favorite local pizza by far. We love a thin crust and the sauce is delicious. They also serve by the slice which is great to grab if you don't need a whole pie. They have some great specialty pizzas but you can't go wrong with their cheese or pepperoni if you're a traditionalist. An easy four stars! read more

I'm looking for the best pizza around Concord and I'm happy to see Sweet Tomatoes bringing some decent pizza to the area. Sweet Tomatoes took over the former Papa Gino's location by the Acton/Concord line. Although they call it neopolitan pizza, it's what I consider traditional pizza with a thin, crispy crust. The crust is somewhere between a New Haven and New York style pizza. The crust has a good taste like the dough has been given a slow ferment. The sauce is good. They scatter small chunks of canned tomatoes around the edge of the crust. A small 14 inch sausage pizza cost $16 including tax. If I lived in West Concord and wanted some good pizza, in my opinion, the two best choices are Sweet Tomatoes in Acton, or New London Pizza in Concord Center. Here's my current (sausage) pizza ranking around the Concord, MA area. I'm going to rank these pizzas using the one-bite pizza review scoring 1-10. For that scoring: 9's are best in class pizza anywhere, 8's are worth driving to, 7's are very good local pizza, 6's are okay because they're convenient, but they're not my favorites. 6's will be Yelp 3 stars, 7's will be Yelp 4 stars, and 8's will be Yelp 5 stars. In my opinion, I haven't had a pizza in the Boston area that I would rate a 9. This review is based on two visits, both times I purchased individual slices. I've now tried four different styles of pizza from them. I have been seriously disappointed with the pizza in this area of metrowest since moving here around four years ago. I grew up outside of New Haven, CT and am very strongly opinionated about pizza. That being said, Max & Leo's was a very welcome addition to an otherwise barren wasteland. Sweet Tomatoes is 100% solid. The toppings are flavorful and quality. The texture of the crust is good and I appreciate the generous slice portions as well! I'm very happy to have this place nearby and hope they gain some traction. read more

I got some food here, never tried it before but upon walking and I was greeted by very nice employees. They were willing to explain the menu. I ordered a sandwich, chips, a margarita pie. I expected to wait since I walked in and ordered in person but I didn't wait fort food to be ready within (less than 15 min) but this isn't crapDonalds, it's made to order food, with fresh ingredients, with positive vibes. I love the pizza here especially the chicken bacon ranch. Tonight's pizza was really bad. I know no one is working but this pizza's crust was totally raw. They told us it would be 35-40 minutes for order to be ready. We showed up and they messed the order up and had to re-do the pie. I have no problem with that but when you re-do the order make sure it is cooked!!! So disappointing. $23 for a pizza is fine but it needs to be done properly . read more

I've been hung up on about 10 times. I'm hung up at the rink next door and only have a small window to pickup. I understand it's hard to hear, but whoever answers the phone was able to hear I wanted a large cheese pizza, yet can't hear that I needed it ready by 2:10. Please make online orders possible because this is absolutely ridiculous. I'm over here starving and the least you guys could do is have an alternative method to ordering other than over the phone. I ordered some slices of Pepperoni slices and Cheese slices in Acton Massachusetts and it was because it said Neapolitan pizza. When I went to pay for it she asked if I wanted it warmed up or now from the rack. I never had cold pizza but no one ever gave me the choices before. I took the cold slices and it was good, very good. Just like the name of the pizza store, sweet tomatoes. I really liked the nice tasting chunks of fresh tomatoes on the slices. Very flavorful. I took the last slice and placed it in toaster oven and 5 minutes later I ate it and it was great. The place was glove white clean and staff friendly. They noticed my veteran hat and thanked me for my service. Nice to be recognized . It compared with other Italian pizza shops with North end style pies. Again the sauce was like the name. I will be going there every month as I go to Maynard once a month for I am from Dracut. I will be ordering a large pie next time with even more cheese and sausage and pepperoni. read more

We've ordered from Sweet Tomatoes four times so far and each time has been wonderful. Their "truffle" pizza is our favorite and one of our all-time favorites for the area. This recent order also had the meat lovers and pesto splash and both were exceptional. The large pizzas are expensive but they're actually larger than most, if not all, large pizzas in the area. The quality ingredients, super thin crust, and bold flavors make this a strong value. read more

I was surprised to see all the positive reviews of this restaurant which leads me to think we got them on an off night. For this reason I will give two stars. We did not feel like driving so we ordered 3 pizzas and a salad from door dash. The delivery took forever but that may be on door dash. The orders arrived and we we initially thought we got the wrong order. One of the pizzas was completely wrong and actually burned. The salad we ordered was a handful of lettuce and a little Parmesan cheese sprinkled on it. It definitely was not an $8 salad. The other two pizzas were undercooked and doughy in the middle. It was actually pretty gross. We called the store to try to figure out the salad and wrong pizza. They said that they would replace the pizza but we would have to pick it up which totally defeated the purpose of door dash. They also said that they wouldn't be able to make it for 2 hours because the store was busy. So, the food sucked as much as the customer service. We will not be eating here again. read more

The general vibe is "low effort for high prices." Pizza are a little inconsistent, seems like they haven't got a feel for their ovens yet (kinda undercooked), but they're also forgettable... Bland sauce, simple crust, but decent toppings. They're fine. What isn't fine is their prices which are absurdly expensive. Service is slow and disorganized, but friendly. Atmosphere of the restaurant is really a weak spot. They took the 1980s Papa Gino's interior, painted white over the murals, put contact paper over the tabletops, added vinyl flooring, and pulled the cushions off the benches (a particular issue because the unfinished wood frames have sharp edges and a rough finish that's very uncomfortable). Lots of overly bright exposed light bulbs and empty cans on the tables. Can still see a lot of the stained (possibly moldy?) woodwork around the dining room. Not great. A lot of this is forgivable in a new restaurant, but premium prices demand a premium product/experience. They don't have it. read more

First time trying this place. We ordered a large white Greek pizza and a Greek salad. The pizza was undercooked and the only thing you could taste was garlic. We gave Sweet Tomatoes a try when we moved across town and were very pleasantly surprised. It doesn't look like much from the outside but boy do they make really good pizza! Nice, thin crust with just the right amount of cheese and toppings plus a nice offering "flavors". The pesto feta is out of this world as is the margherita with caramelized onions. BBQ chicken is good for a change too. It's our new Fri. night pizza place and they're consistently good. read more

Oh my lord. I tried it again, and it was a huge mistake. Each time I've ordered on a Friday, the pizza has been so badly undercooked that everything just falls apart when you try to lift a slice out of the box. In the past, I've chalked it up to them being overly busy, and since our family really likes the pizza when it's cooked well, we've kept ordering. Today, though -- a Sunday at 2pm -- I called and ordered a couple of pizzas, making a point to explain the undercooking problem and asking that they please make sure the pizzas were fully cooked. No dice. One pie was perfect. The other was an undercooked, sloppy mess. At $23 each, there's no excuse for this nonsense. I'm so done with them. read more

After being on hold for 7 minutes at Max & Leo's in Sudbury we decided to try the new Sweet Tomatoes in Acton. We were very disappointed. The pizza was soggy, the tomato sauce was just chunks of tomatoes, the sausage was tasteless and the "caramelized onions" were anything but. Next time if we have to wait on hold for a long time at Max and Leo's we'll go to Rossini's in Concord. It's a very close second. read more

Sweet Tomatoes is a welcome addition to Acton. The thin crusts are delicious, the ingredients are extremely fresh and flavorful (i.e. plum tomatoes cooked directly in the oven), the options are numerous and very creative; in addition to all the standard varieties, the Veggie Pesto, Dates and Blue Cheese, Meat Lovers, and Tuna are addicting. The salads are very large and the Caesar's dressing is excellent. I have experienced this restaurant many times, and I don't agree with the previous negative reviews; the new make-over is much brighter and inviting, and the servers are all friendly and efficient.
