Great breakfast buffet, especially the biscuits and gravy. Friendly staff and kid-friendly.

We're trying hard to be good eaters- eat what's fresh and in season, staying away from anything fried. Eating out has it's challenges, so finding a superior salad bar, at a great price, is just the ticket! First a shout out to my fellow Yelper's for directing me to this restaurant-really a good find! Reading through the reviews tells me that this is the place to come for a good meal- of your own choosing! That plus the good value makes it a very good choice for us. The complaints I saw are from people who are only looking for a snack and object to paying for a full meal- sorry, that's not how a buffet pricing works. And to the folks who find fault with noisy kids underfoot- isn't that the parents responsibility? I don't like disruption either, but how this becomes the restaurants problem is beyond me, after all, this is a good choice for a family meal as well. We came for lunch and the place was hopping! We were acknowledged as soon as we walked in for lunch. Several people behind the counter were busy restocking and sprucing up the enormous salad bar-almost 60 feet long!. There seemed to be an endless choice of things to try- way more than I would find in my own frig, and probably fresher too. I made myself an awesome salad, trying lots of items that I just don't often buy- then got to the dressing station where I had a choice of at least 8 different dressings! I understand that they are fresh made on site, and after tasting 2 of them, I believe it! Try the Avocado Ranch-a simple twist to a classic dressing! The cashier is at the end of the line and takes care of the drinks too. Melanie, was so nice- and efficient, giving us directions and freshly chipped ice in our glasses so that we would be good to go at the beverage station. Within a few minutes, we were seated at a clean table and our busy server, Celestina, quickly came over to say hello, see what she could do for us and take away the trays. Whenever our glasses emptied she was there to get our refills. The "big" salad was perfect, everything I like in a salad, none of the stuff I dislike because I made it exactly to my personal taste. I had to try the focaccia bread- you could easily make a meal on this fresh from the oven deliciousness! The baker, Alfredo, takes his work seriously and maintains a great number of pizza type choices. Had to try the chicken noodle soup, just a little, because I wanted to try a little tapioca too. Never got to the pasta, potatoes, chili, or soft serve ice cream- just no room left! To sum it up, huge value compared to a deli or fast food restaurant- and much healthier too. Beautifully fresh produce, homemade dressings, just made focaccia right from the oven, dessert and drinks, plus any number of other items - you can't beat the price for a complete meal, find a coupon for an even better deal! The restaurant is large and obviously well managed. The employees are motivated and polite, always ready to help. I found the produce clean, crisp and in fresh condition and all surfaces clean. It was a very good choice and I'll certainly be a repeat customer next time I'm in Tucson. read more

Sweet place for vegetarians! The selection of vegetables is plenty and plenty tasty! The veggies taste fresh and are crispy! Pile it on baby!! But If you're a carnivore you might not enjoy their selection of "okay" soups that almost taste like something from a can. With the little bits of meat in the soup I wonder why th restaurant just isn't a full vegetarian place. It might as well be. If you're vegetarian you might be a little disappointed that they like to sneak in bacon bits on some of the prepared salads :( If you can snag a coupon(In the mail hint hint) then it's a great deal and I'll be returning every month as long as the staff continues to treat me like family!! yay :) read more

Service is always great here, especially the cashiers! They always have a positive attitude and always willing to help you get the best deals when a customer is digging through their coupons. Like all restaurants, it can get busy, but the flow is even. The line has never been out the door, at least whenever I went there, which is a great sign. Wish they had more fruits though, its mainly what you put on your salad, soups, desert, and carbs. The only fruits they had were apples, oranges and banana, which we thought wasn't great for the amount we pay. Basically we pay $10 for salad, soup and carbs. Other than that, it's great. read more

This is my go to place for a fast salad. Ingredients are always fresh and staff continuously wiping down counters,bins,etc. Establishment is always clean and staff is attentive and friendly. I usually build my own salad but the pre-made Wonton Happiness and Caesar salad are both tasty as well. Please note, this is a meatless salad bar except for limited time specialty items such as turkey taco salad. The salad toppings include beets, zucchini, sunflower seeds, radishes, black olives, hard boiled eggs and all the other usual suspects. Their soup selection is vast and they always have at least 1 vegan option. The only con: women's bathroom has been nice and clean on my visits and hand soap has a pleasant smell but the stalls have big gaps making privacy a little bit of an issue. read more

I really enjoy their salads and the variety they offer but the rest is lacking in flavor. I know they have to make food that appeals to everybody's taste buds but when all the soup options are bland with no salt or pepper and you get the garlic bread with not even the slightest taste of garlic come on. I was disappointed in the soups and pasta but the salad and muffins are good. The price is pretty high for families when all you will eat is salad. read more

The service is really decent for a place like this. The cashiers are fast, efficient, and really reasonable. The variety of foods could do with some improvement, for example there could be more fruit types at the dessert stand, and more varied salads at the main area. The pastas are also too oily. My family enjoyed coming to sweet tomatoes, but prices has gone up and no changes on the menu, my kid wanted some fresh fruit but all they had where apples. What happen to the pineapple or the melon they had before. I guess I was very disappointed with the food I got for the price, I did notice a good deal for senior citizens, but not for young families. read more

This used to be one of my families favorite restaurants. Today that changed. The cooks behind the pasta counter were whispering and laughing, and even pointing at my two disabled young siblings who were simply getting their food. We confronted a manager about it who talked to the cooks and offered us our money back. It is highly unlikely that the cooks will be fired, or that anything more will come of this, but it scarred my young siblings and no amount of money back will fix that. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you want to be around and support bullying, of kids! Disgusting and shameful. read more

Sweet Tomatoes is a great value, vegan friendly, healthy restaurant chain, and my favorite location is 6202 E. Broadway, Tucson AZ. I purchased my house needing to be very close to Sweet Tomatoes, (4 miles away) Costco (2 miles away), and Sabino Canyon Recreation area (6 miles away). The Sweet Tomatoes is very easy to get to from my house, the staff is friendly and helpful, and care about the customers and the well being of Sweet Tomatoes East location and the chain of restaurants. The restaurants boast a large over 40 foot salad bar, hot bar area, and desserts. The staff does make sure that my Vegan questions are answered both the labels on the serving areas and staff knowledge. Moreover, the Sweet Tomatoes is close to the Park Place Mall, Cinemark Movie theater, shops and stores. The restaurant offers coupons mailed, and the club which is easy to join on the Souplantation web site. I especially like that the restaurant offers items served all of the time as well as holiday and seasonal infused special menus *for interesting change. Come into Sweet Tomatoes hungry, leave full; yet healthy, and NOT BROKE!!!!! Sweet Tomatoes is a sweet deal, EVERY SINGLE TIME. That is a fact. read more

I hate to write a poor review for this place since my wife and i have been coming here a few years now and have usually enjoyed the fare. However we had lunch here on Tuesday and for 2 days my stomach paid the price. I cant say for sure it was the food here but often buffet places put things on the salad to keep them from wilting so it might have been that. My wife had no ill effects but i dont want to go through 2 days of discomfort for average salad fare. The tip we left for our "server" was more out of charity than for service-after introducing herself she became very scarce and we wound up bussing our own plates.Not a big deal but unlike previous visits. We love Sweet Tomatoes. Everything is fresh, clean, and without the grease of every other place in town. Guilt free...almost. People with different diets can choose what they want. They have some amazing soups to choose from too. Items rotate every month so you won't get bored either. read more

This is one of our favorite buffets ever !!! But...Upper Management needs to find out what the top favorite soups are in their restaurants so that they are available every month. They have a good staff and they try their best. They have a really nice staff. But the food has been going downhill for a long time. When they got rid of the toffee for the icecream it started the spiral. The Mac and cheese is less rich. The salad bar is pretty good but not as good as it once was. They just got a new ice cream machine and the ice cream tastes like ice just really bland. It's not worth the price. And the dining room is to small. We had a party of 6 and of course we had to squeeze but they put us in a corner by a pillar with extra tables off it so the people at the table had to stand up to let out the side of the booth by the pillar and the other side was all squished so they had to all slide out to let everyone out at all different times because it's a buffet and everyone wants food at different times. If they have money for new worse icecream machines they should expand the dining room. But it's worse than it once was. The club veg used to have this $30 ish dollar family meal with drinks and all that but they took it away so it's very expensive and everything you have to buy drinks on top of it. It's kinda ridiculous. I don't think we will be going back for a while. read more

Food was delicious! I love the variety of salads and LOVE the blueberry muffins! Everything I had was delicious and fresh. My only complaint was getting a small rock in my salad....unfortunately I found it by biting it while chewing (UGH!). No damage to my teeth or anything, so I am still giving this place a good rating because it is so yummy! I will definitely go back next time I am in Tucson, but will be more careful about chewing my salads in case of more rocks (I will actually be more careful about rocks in salads ANYWHERE I go now! ha ha!)!!! read more

Called in April on the 25th to see about a graduation party. Was told by a man who identified himself as a manager, that I would be able to have reservation just to call back closer to the day with a solid head count. Sent out invitations and got RSVP back for 30 people. Called today told by GM that they could not accomodate my party and could come but wouldn't be able to sit together. She said Sundays are busy, especially at 1. I explained I understood which is why I had called so far in advance. She did not sound concerned about my issue or the situation. She didn't appear to care and didn't even ask my name to know when I came in. I called Golden Corral and they were more than willing to accommodate me and my party even with short notice. I called Sweet Tomatoes back and got another manager who at least sounded apologetic although she too was unwilling to assist. So we will be celebrating my son and nephew's graduation at Golden Corral where they appear to care about customer service and guest satisfaction. Sweet tomatoes must be very busy to not care about their customers. I will be spending more money to have my celebration at Golden Corral but being treated well is worth the extra money. So thankful that I have not purchased gift cards for Sweet Tomatoes yet to pay for my party, would have been stuck with $350 to a restaurant that I will never go to again. read more

Great if you're real hungry. All the soups and pastas tastes processed like it was made in a factory. Clean and the service is good. Only worth going if you have a coupon though, which is easy to get online from them. Salad is good, but nothing special. They use to have chicken for the salad, but did away with that. My family of 4 loves this place. Salad ingredients are always fresh, pasta and other hot food offerings are consistent in flavor. I've never cared much for the soups but enjoy the chili over the mac and cheese every now and again. Beverages are whacko expensive. If you want to dine here frequently join the Veg Club. One of my favorite places for what is fast food for me! I can't eat gluten so that takes most hamburger, chicken and sandwich places out of the equation. Sweet tomatoes has a wonderful salad buffet engorged with all those yummy things we don't want to chop up at home. Pile it high people because it's all good! You get your veggies in and they are fresh and yummy!! Being gluten free I love that there is always a gluten free muffin and YES THEY ARE SUPER! It's great the rest of us get to indulge on a yummy!!! We are noticing too!!! This last time there were two gluten free soups and their chili, which they always have, is also gluten free. Their soups are homemade and wonderful and I love having a few choices. My husband isn't gluten free and he loves all the soups. They have pizza and pasta but we don't eat that so I have no idea how it is. Prices aren't cheap but I feel good about eating there and I would rather have good clean food than fast food junk.
