I've been coming to Beyond Bread for over 25 years, since I lived in Tucson. Although I used to stop in for a sandwich now and then, I particularly loved that I could stop by on the way home and pick up a loaf of freshly-baked bread. The quality hasn't changed in all these years. This visit I ordered Bart's Bag, which consists of a healthy portion of roasted turkey, brie, lettuce, tomato and red onion, all on a housemade baguette. Super yummy! Service was super fast and friendly, at all levels: ordering, delivering food to my table, even when requesting a to-go container for the half of the sandwich I couldn't finish. I attended a Meetup here on Sunday morning. This is a counter-service restaurant. There wasn't a long wait to order, though it did take some time for me to get my food. I had a Morgan's Merger Sandwich ($9.75) and a Cappuccino ($5). I also got a loaf of rye bread ($5) and a creme brulee ($6.25) to take home. The sandwich had ham, egg, and Swiss cheese; I recommend it. The creme brulee was amazing. The cappuccino was OK. The bread (now in my freezer) is pretty good, dense and chewy. So I stopped today and I was not disappointed in that sandwich! I've gone here twice now and am very happy I decided to try it. Their service has been top notch. One of the most appealing things is their menus vegan options. I've been having the salama shawarma. I think that's how you spell it anyway. It's amazing! Here you have a place that doesn't specialize in vegan foods and yet is more appealing to me than places that do. I am so impressed with this place. They offer so much variety, fresh-baked bread, and the friendliest service. I was caught off guard by the enormous size of my sandwich (Avi's Avo) and ended up eating half of it for another meal, so order accordingly. Wow! I was completely blown away!!!! I came here on a whim wanting their holiday specialty bread. It's a super soft spiced loaf with cranberries, walnuts and pumpkin seeds . I had it at a fundraiser and it was AWESOME. They have it as a muffin so I grabbed one $2.75. I saw they had a special today (Wednesday) Pete's pepperoni which was pepperoni, provolone, garlic mayo, roasted red peppers on pretzel bread. It came with a side all for $12. I knew it would be heavy but figured why not since it was my only meal of the day. BOY OH BOY this monstrosity was absolutely mind blowing. Everything was perfect. The perfect amount of pepperoni, the delicious soft toasted pretzel bread...the high quality provolone..and that garlic mayo was INSANE. I came here years ago and was disappointed so this is quite the redemption arc. This is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It was like eating a hot grinder pepperoni pretzel pizza. It's even big enough to share and I didn't need the side (I chose baby carrots) My cashier was Freddy who was very kind and patient answering all of my questions. Great customer service!!! We have been coming here for years -- since they first opened, in fact. While I feel that the pastries were better "back in the day," they're still good (the old "cheese pockets" were better than the reimagined "cheese crowns," in my opinion. I also like their coffee and the sandwiches are big. What keeps us coming back, however, is their ciabatta. It is fantastic. We buy a loaf and freeze half while we finish the first half within a few days or a week. (I like most of their breads, but this one is exceptional!) It has a thick crust and a tender center that is perfect, sliced and fresh out of a toaster with a little butter on it. You can really enjoy the crunch of the toasted crust and flavor of the dough. I haven't eaten in the restaurant for several years, but they donated lunches to a volunteer activity I participated in and those sandwiches hit the spot. The food is really good. This place is a great bakery/ restaurant. The only reason I'm giving 4 vs 5 stars is simply that there was a long wait. Apparently there was a situation with them switching to a new batch of soup which I enjoyed but it created a 20 minute wait because they forgot to check on it. I had to go check on the order to see what happened because I could see the orders placed after ours were coming out pretty quickly. They were very nice about it and threw in a free cookie but the delay did make a difference in our travel plans since we were just passing through on the way to New Mexico so 4 stars for this time, if I come back I'm sure it will be spot on and I'll update my review. The Gordo's Gorgonzola sando was awesome, basil tomato soup and macaroni salad both were tasty. Cookie and iced cold brew with caramel and cream were all delicious. read more

This is a decent place to have a sandwich. My first visit to this chain. I had a chicken sandwich on the multigrain bread. Overall, a pretty decent sandwich, but the bacon was way over cooked for my tastes. The bread was ok, but the ends were very tough. My MIL had a 1/2 sandwich and soup. The soup was a lemon chicken thing, not to our tastes. Her sandwich was so tall, that it was impossible to take a bite. The cookies were good. You can buy loaves of bread and have them sliced. Service was fairly quick. A bit loud in there. While I don't have this chain where I live, I'd go back and try something else for sure and I love bread, so I'm sure I'd buy some to take home. read more
