Not a good experience. Place had a weird smell, like kitty litter. Nothing tasted right. Everyone in our party of 5 pushed theirs plates aside and said it tastes off. The tea tasted off, the oatmeal, the French toast and coffee. Not sure if it is the water they are using or what. In a word , yuck. read more

The service is slow, but the waitstaff is friendly. The food is very much what you would expect to receive at a diner with a few hidden gems. My boyfriend and I love to split the Ultimate Skillet. It's way too much for just one person; and it is always served piping hot with the choice of pancakes, biscuit, or toast. Let me start by saying that I haven't been disappointed with my order the 2 times I've visited this establishment. But, both times the service has been slow, slower last time than the first time. On our last visit, the smell of burnt food filled the restaurant. (Thankfully, my meal was not burnt but it could have been involved in the fire since it took so long to get my order.) Solid omelette, pancakes were pretty good too. Large portions of food and attentive service. The sweet berry sauce is delicious. My wife had the ultimate skillet, it was good not great. Sweetberries is great! We served a breakfast buffet from Sweetberries at our wedding and our guests were so excited and left really full! Even though they don't "officially" cater - the owner Mike was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely do business with him again! Great product and great price. read more

cute little cafe. went for breakfast with my boyfriend, he was slightly deterred by the outdoor furniture being tethered to the fence with bike locks, but i'm very glad we still went inside. the food was great, the drinks were pretty good too. my only complaint and the reason i'm only leaving 4 stars was the speed with which the food came. he ordered biscuits and gravy with hash browns, and our waitress was the sweetest lady, but when our food arrived (after 25-30 mins) he had no biscuits on his plate. the lady who brought our food out was not our server, which would have been fine if she wasn't honestly a little rude. he pointed out that he got no biscuit, a main part of the dish we were paying for, and she just kind of rolled her eyes and said she'd have it out in a minute. 10 minutes go by and we finally see her again, flag her over, and she just goes "did you need something?" she had completely forgotten. after that we had really did have a good time, we just made sure to give the tip to our original waitress personally to make sure it got to who it needed to. read more

My girlfriend and I used to like to go here. Today when we were there she got the turkey burger and onion rings and they both were dripping with grease. I might say I am not that picky of an eater. But omg, when it comes to breakfast, I like it simple and fresh. So I have always heard not that great comments about Sweetberries and never decided to check it out. But this weekend, I gave it a shot. My bf, couple of my other friends and I went there to eat breakfast. I ordered just simple 3 scrambled eggs, fresh fruit cup, and pancakes. The service was pretty good and the place was full, which I was surprised about. I got my order and when I tasted my eggs, they were very greasy. I took couple bites and did not even finish because it did not taste good. Then I decided to eat my fruit, and it was warm and tasted sour. I just could not eat my pancakes anymore, because I lost my appetite, so I got a togo box. So it was all on Saturday. That entire day I did not eat anything else. Next, Sunday morning I woke up feeling sick, with the worst nausea and (my apologies) diarrhea. Went to the doctor and found out I got food poisoning. One of my other friends had some of the symptoms of upset stomach too. I don`t think I need to say anything more. Just simply will never go to this place again! read more

We went to breakfast on a rainy Saturday with a half filled restaurant. Read some good reviews, so were expecting a super breakfast, but were somewhat disappointed. Food was ok, nothing special. I got the Maverick breakfast, which was 2 eggs, bacon, and 2 regular pancakes. Hubby ordered eggs & meat, which was 2 eggs, bacon, a biscuit, and sausage gravy. Even though it was a light crowd, we still ended up waiting nearly 15 minutes for our meals. When the plates came, he was expecting some hash browns on his plate as well, which is a pretty standard way to serve breakfast in this region. When he asked about it, she offered to bring some, and he said OK. We didn't know we would be charged more than $3 for a small plate of half burned potatoes. The famous pancakes were very heavy and doughy in the center, and they offered only one syrup, which was a thin homemade syrup with an unpleasant aftertaste. I should have ordered the sweetberry cakes, I guess. Anyway, long story short, just an average eatery, would not make the trip from the lake just to eat there again. read more

The eggs, bacon, and sausage, were all good. The waitress that I had was rude, and never came back to see if I wanted a refill on my ice tea, or anything. It looks like that is her disposition. We have tried this restraunt twice, both times I would say food was average. But, the bigger issue was the wait time for our meal to arrive and service on our last. It took aprox 45 minutes to get our food...our waitress kept coming by to apologize and tell us it was "next up", "just waiting on one plate" etc... unlikely we will return. read more

As a fellow restaurant employee I don't usually write bad reviews! But it was horrible !! Don't waste your time or money!! My daughter order a taco salad I know that unusual for Sunday brunch but you know teenagers; she ordered Ranch dressing the 1 st one we didn't look at she put on her salad then she opened the 2 nd one it had fuzzy green mold growing in it. I called our waitress over she brought out new ranch! No let me take the salad. I asked for a new salad and the manager. about 5 mintues later what appeared to be another server showed up with a new taco salad. She apologized and tried to tell me she made that fresh this morning. I told her always Fiof and she should have understood that. It means use day dots first in first out basic kitchen knowledge. Our drinks never got refilled our table never got prebussed and ticket showed never showed up so I had to go to cashier and ask for it then they even charged us full price on the taco salad never going back!!!!! read more

I tried twice! 1st experience was a burger for lunch. It wasn't a little rare, it was raw! So bloody the bun had blood on it. I tried again today with breakfast. Menu says all toast orders served with fresh homemade strawberry preserves. I order a simple 2 egg breakfast with a small milk. I am the ONLY customer! I had to get up and go ask another waitress for the milk, the strawberry preserves & some ketchup. These "fresh homemade strawberry preserves" arrived in a very small souffle cup frozen! If it is kept frozen, is that considered fresh? It wasn't worth $10.58! Over priced, less than average food, bad service! I will not return. read more

After driving 15 min from Van Alstyne because apparantly no restaurants are open on Monday's, myself and my daughter and her boyfriend decided to go to Sherman in hopes of finding a good home cooked restaurant that served breakfast. We thought about going to Ihop, but really wanted to find a place that looked to be family owned. I remembered that I had always seen this place when going down Texoma Pkwy, and though it looked to have been there awhile, I decided by the crowded parking lot, that it would be pretty good, well,my opinion soon changed.. after tasting the coffee that tasted as if it had been sitting on the burner since they opened that morning, it should have been a clue as how the food would taste. The patrons were all retirees and I really wonder if they didn't notice the taste of the food or had just been coming there for so many years, that they didn't notice, I don't know, but after finally getting our order placed, it seemed to take forever to get our food, I mean, really, it's breakfast, not that hard, right? Well, after apologizing for the long wait due to what I guess was busier than they normally are, we got our food. I ordered scrambled eggs that looked and tasted very dry with no flavor at all, the hash browns tasted very bland and almost chalky, I even tried pouring alot of ketchup to help make them more edible, but didn't do much, and then ordered the biscuit with gravy, and when I got them, the plate I received had a used butter packet on the plate which made me wonder if it had been someone else's that wasn't eaten and they just gave it to me! The biscuit didn't even look like a regular biscuit at all, looked almost like a roll of some sort, my daughter and her boyfriend ordered eggs with hashbrowns, bacon and french toast, and they were very disappointed by the taste as well. We were unfortunately very hungry and ate it anyhow, but we swore that we would never ever go back here, they're food is aweful aweful aweful!!!! Please don't waste your time by going there unless you have no tastebuds or like bland food, McDonald's makes better food than this place!!!! I really don't know how this place stays in business!
