My son did like his kids meal so we won't include that! Oh one more great thing they had cornbread! Last time I went to one in Dallas they didn't have it so I was happy! The meatloaf was burnt around edges. The brown gravy has changed and yuck and my turnip greens didn't taste clean. I've been eating at Cracker Barrel since 2002. This location was horrible at best. We were seated and my husband said that went okay. When me and the rest of my party came in we got no love or like from our server Beth. She was dry and not accommodating at all. We did see her interacting with some regulars seated close to us so we know somewhere down deep she has a personality, just not for us. Let's go on to the cinnamon roll skillet which was fresh and hot like the coffee but baby that was the first and last thing remotely warm to hit that table. Well other than my attitude. Ijk... it took well over 30 minutes to get some biscuits pancakes and eggs for three. Mind you no steak no chicken fried steak no none of that but more then 30 minutes. Then waiting for it to come out cold. I don't mean warm I mean like the "ac been blowing in it while it sat there under the heating lamp getting hard and stale." My sister asked Beth to take it back but the attitudish look made her tell her "naw girl leave it at the table" my husband who is never mad about food was so taken aback by his air hockey puck pancakes that he went to speak to the manager. The manger stated is there "is there anything he could do" but when told he brought back lukewarm food still and then disappeared into the abyss never to be seen again. Per the person that ordered; it tasted like the potato was backed days ago and reheated. 2) chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and carrots with half and half tea. The chicken fried steak is a frozen fried steak of very poor quality. The carrots were good. The potatoes are skin on but I was wondering what this was circled in the photo. As I could tell the skins but this was a great big chunk and hard. They were fair and appeared to be old and not fresh. I initially ordered the cream gravy. I had a couple of bites of it with the cfs. Requested brown gravy which was a little better. Over all this meal was awful and was not fully eaten except for the carrots. The manager did take it off the bill. I will get to that later 3) meatloaf (requested brown gravy), mashed potatoes and pintos with 1/2 n 1/2 tea. Requested brown gravy and ketchup. The server forgot. But brought once we requested again and she apologized. Now, we have been to this CB many times. The last we ate here the food was poor which was months and months ago. We tried here again and again it's poor. I feel awful for the servers as I'm sure their tips reflect this unfortunately. Not sure if quality of food is corporate or this particular establishment. Again, the manager did remove the CFS and we appreciate that but unfortunately we probably won't go to another CB. read more

Not a good lunch experience. Stopped with my elderly mother for a leisurely lunch before a nearby doctor's appointment. There was no one waiting for a table but it still took the unfriendly hostess forever to seat us. The table had the tip from the last patron which is always uncomfortable. Server was efficient and pleasant, so that was good. My sparking wine was actually decent, except the glass was broken. Lunch special cheddar broccoli chicken was inedible, cold and coagulated. Fried okra was the worst I have ever ordered. Baked potato was good, but beef noodle soup was tasteless. Did enjoy killing time in the gift store with lots of great seasonal products. It's been years since I've stepped foot in a Cracker Barrel. It was late Friday afternoon and I was hungry for some Southern cuisine. Traffic in the Dallas area was quite busy on Memorial day weekend so I wanted to avoid going south for food. Instead I decided to venture north and see what things would await for me. Sure enough there was no wait and we were seated right away. Our server recommended getting the lemon pepper grilled rainbow trout platter which came with two sides and a small salad. I had the southern fried chicken with corn and mac n' cheese. The portions here are really large so I suggest that you come with a big appetite or share because you'll end up with left overs. I had 4 pieces of crispy fried chicken that was seasoned really well. Their hot sauce was great on the fried chicken. I had a strawberry lemonade which came with free refills. All entrees are served with cornbread or biscuits. Service wise it was pretty slow. Our server apologized because he forgot to bring out the salad and cornbread first. They are a little short staffed after 1pm apparently when the customer base thins out in this area. read more

I like my eggs over easy, but know you have to order over medium or you get raw eggs. My eggs were so over cooked, I could not chew the whites. The yolks were solid. The hash-brown casserole, was barely warm. Yes I should of sent the plate back, but I was in a hurry and "hangry" at this point. The only reason they get 2 stars, and not one, is because the steak was edible. My mother got the meat loaf plate. Was not the lunch special. Paid over 10 bucks for it. The slice of meatloaf was so small and thin she ate it in 4 bites. Had about 8 pieces of okra and barely warm mashed potatoes. We both ordered white gravy. Was brought one small bowl of gravy. I have recently had breakfast here - twice during August 2024. Simple 2 eggs, scant bacon once, equally scant link sausage.on the 2nd visit. I prefer my eggs poached medium -- but long ago I learned that even breakfast destination places cannot poach an egg; this place is no exception. "Over medium" should be easily obtainable but is often not - which results in a re-do while the pancakes cool to room temp. The pancakes are served with a couple of small bottles of 'real' maple syrup - but even genuinely delicious syrup cannot save a pancake that is over-cooked -- so much so that it takes fork AND knife to extract a bite. As anyone who has ever griddled a pancake, flipping the pancake as soon as bubbles appear on the edge. This step ensures a fluffy, browned cake on both sides BUT only if the pancake is plated as soon as side 2 is "done". Leaving the cake on the griddle longer than necessary results in a rubbery, deep brown finish - perhaps because the cook is busy mishandling the eggs or because someone more senior taught the cook that the essence of a pancake is a nutty brown finish. My belief is that because I am an early riser, the griddle has not warmed to its optimal temperature, 'brown' can only be achieved through leaving the pancake on the coolish griddle long enough for it to be browned. My suggestion: go for an omelette instead. It, too, will be over-cooked but it matters less since most people have never eaten a properly cooked omelette. read more

First off.. I DO NOT Appreciate getting hung up on by a manager when calling back. I had ordered chicken fried steak at 8pm, took about 15 minutes standing at the server station before being acknowledged, once sat and ordered.. Waitress comes out and rudely said, we are out of gravy pick something else. she has to go get another menu.. At that I walked out..with water and coffee on the table. I go somewhere else, call back, ask the first person at the desk, once simple question. "What time do you close." then wanted a number or email to a General Manager, I proceed to get Nothing But A run around / avoidance and then a manager named Dee on the line, who snaps at that point, saying, i'm making gravy. and hang up. No explanation or anything. I was Perfectly willing to wait for more to be made and would have used all that was made but... NO, Nothing from anyone other than rude hangups and comments. District Manager seems to be someone that has no customer service experience at all and doesn't follow up with issues at all. I am 10 years clear of stage 4 throat cancer and MUST eat things with Gravy, I drove an hour passing the Gainesville location because I was going to other stores in the area also. I have not had a coke, dr pepper or fast food in 10 years, I eat VERY LIMITED LOCATIONS. The Sherman WAS one i went to often, probably not for a while until Better Training is done for that location. This location has been going downhill for a while and GETTING ZERO response or reply or anything from upper management is getting ridiculous. I'm waiting on a phone call from Someone Higher than a GM or District at this point. read more

Dinner with the family is always a great time. We met at Cracker Barrel for dinner and were greeted right away. Had about a 10 minuet wait (but I think that's on purpose so you look around the store). After being seated we were greeted by our waitress named Mattie, very professional and really knew her stuff. Food was good and had a southern feel, they brought biscuits and cornbread out to the table and the sweet tea and coffee were good. Some had breakfast and some of us had dinner food all in all was good. It's one of those places that's always ok or good but never great. The quality of the food has gone down tremendously to the point that we will not be going there until I hear the quality of the food has returned. I ordered the Grandpa's breakfast with the chicken fried steak. It seemed that the steak was prepackaged and it was terrible. In Texas we cannot have prepackaged chicken fried steak.
