You can clearly tell that management has changed. Food portions are smaller, host to seat us had a bad attitude, waiter was terrible and instead of charging me for the waffle and berries charged me for waffle, berries and glaze separately which created an overcharge. His name is Alejandro C. He was then forcing a 20% tip on us individually as he split our payment up. He felt it necessary to compare sweet diner to Elsa's on the Park and restaurants in Miami stating they take advantage of patrons. He expressed how 5% is taken from him and the tips are split between all to convince us to pay more after already being overcharged. Some food came out late and cold. The plate was also dirty underneath when he finally brought it after being reminded. Bad service, bad food for prices. Terrible change to what used to be a great place. We will not be back and will spread the word. read more

Beautiful place with nice staff. The cocktails were weak and you couldn't taste the layering of the flavors, they were just watery. All the food was phenomenal. The grilled cheese came with the thickest slices of bacon and the chili was very flavorful. The chicken in the Benedict was so juicy. The dessert was also a great way to try their signature French toast for half the price and it came with ice cream. read more

Came for Saturday morning brunch. Checked in on Yelp ahead of time so we got our table quickly but there were a lot of people waiting to get seated. Immediately was impressed by the decor and the spaciousness of the place. Very modern bright feel. However it was LOUD. Difficult to have a conversation at a small table just because we couldn't hear each other. The service was okay-- a couple mix ups with the the food and bill. Because it was so busy the food took a long time to come but when it arrived it was pretty good. Wouldn't necessarily deal with the wait and the noise for it again. read more

WONT BE GOING BACK. We waited for 30 minutes on the waitlist after being told 15 minutes. Then when I went to check with the hostess she said we had been taken off 5 minutes ago and we should've gotten a text or call. I showed her my phone with NO text or call and she said there was nothing she could do except put us back at the end of the line on the waitlist, which would've taken 30+ more minutes. Very unprofessional. I've been here before, but service like this ruins a restaurant. Will not be going back since this restaurant can't train their workers basic customer service and problem solving in food service. read more

Sweet Diner was gigantic inside! It had lots of seating that was very well spaced out. It had a clean, minimalist feel that I thoroughly enjoyed. Our server, Daniel (?), was wonderful and excellent at his job. The food was delicious and my skillet left me with easily another full meal. My partner got the Wisconsin Omlette which had cheese curds in it and he really liked it! I can't wait to go back! read more

SweetDiner was a really great brunch experience in the Third Ward. I was visiting my mom and grandma in Milwaukee and we decided to check out SweetDiner based on what we saw on Yelp. It was super convenient as we were able to join the waitlist from Yelp and walk around the Third Ward in the meantime. I'd really recommend taking advantage of the waitlist feature based on the approximately 20 people loitering outside. The service was also great! We were told that the food might be delayed since there was a sweet sixteen party being served as well. I explained that I had to make a train and our server, whose name I can't remember, was super accommodating and got us our food in time and I made my train. I'm not from Milwaukee and rarely come to the Third Ward, but SweetDiner was a really great place with great service! read more

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing location! What else can I say about this place, except it's a must try. The Wisconsin omelette with cheese curds is definitely something to get at least once. Everything on the menu looks great. No matter what you get, have them bring you a chive biscuit to go with it. The best around! This was my first time eating from here. The inside is beautiful and cleanly, BUT I struggled to find something affordable and healthy to grab for breakfast. I went for the oatmeal expecting it to be well worth its price of $7 but was honestly very disappointed. It was apple cinnamon, I didn't taste any apple nor cinnamon and was given a cup of brown sugar to pour into it? The consistency was so gross I couldn't eat more than a few bites so I was pretty disappointed. Overall while waiting for my food to go the rest of the food I saw being served looked very good. Wish I would've been able to be reimbursed or something but didn't have time to go back and ask for something different or my money back . Long story short Just don't go with the oatmeal! read more

To start off, Sweet Diner has the feel of a New York or Chicago style brunch spot. For me, this was very cool to walk in and feel like you were no longer in downtown Milwaukee. The restaurant is very big with a ton of tables as well as a small bar area with stools to sit at as well. The staff here are all very nice and super attentive to keeping drinks full. My coffee and water never seemed to be empty while I was sitting there for brunch. Their drip coffee was very good! I had probably 3 cups of it with how good it was. If I remember correctly, I think it might have been Colectivo Coffee, but don't quote me on that. For my main course I had the Southern Eggs Benedict. If you are a fan of biscuits and gravy, I HIGHLY recommend this dish. It was so good and is so much food that I was able to make 2 meals out of it. The chive biscuits in it are made fresh in their kitchen are out of this world good. I also added avocado to this dish (because go big or go home am I right?) and it was definitely the right move in my opinion. To note I have also had their Cornbread Waffles with Spicy Chicken to go. This dish was also very good and probably would have even tasted better fresh. The spicy Memphis style chicken in this dish is not overly spicy in my opinion. If you are in the Third Ward area or downtown Milwaukee, I would definitely stop in here for a delicious brunch! read more

This was my 2nd time at Sweet Diner and I've loved it both times. The servers are very friendly and attentive, the ambiance was great and the food was delicious! They follow strict Covid protocols...hand sanitizer at the door, guests are spaced appropriately, the employees all wear masks and guests are required to wear masks when not seated at their table. It is a great place for brunch with friends and I will definitely be back soon! read more

Great brunch spot. Expect a long wait, but they have a great area to wait that includes a bar where you can get a stellar Bloody Mary. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal, chicken and waffles and chocolate chip pancakes were standouts. This was my first time going, i am so happy I came here. The service here is impeccable!!! The restaurant is large and very open. We were seated against the windows and had plenty of space around us. The menu is big with a ton of different choices. We all started with a mimosa which was very good. I went with a veggie scramble. The veggies were cooked very well and the dish was put together well. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable but I wouldn't say she was overtly friendly. A bit more robotic but I still would consider our service good. I actually love this place. My husband and I were in search of a good breakfast spot and stumbled upon Sweet Diner. We ordered the cornmeal waffle and regular belgian waffle with fried chicken, eggs, and breakfast potatoes. Amazing! We enjoyed everything. Our waiter was fairly attentive and there wasn't a huge wait on receiving our food despite the place being pretty packed. It's clean and the ambience is nice. Came for breakfast on a Tuesday morning around 930 so not crowded at all; got seated and waited on quickly but food took over 20 minutes to come. My wife had the berry pancakes which she pronounced as about the best she has ever had. I sampled and would certainly agree. They were slightly crisp on the edge and warm and fluffy inside. The fresh berries were excellent. I failed in not ordering pancakes or waffles - went with the 3 eggs, toast and red breakfast potatoes. Poached eggs were done as I like, but they went overboard on the vinegar so could not get over that. Wheat toast was blah and the potatoes were rather flavorless and slightly undercooked. So overall 2 stars for my meal, 3 stars for the service and 5 for the pancakes. read more

It was very busy when we went, but the wait wasn't all that bad. We were able to get drinks while we waited and there was a large separate waiting area for those in the queue. We liked being able to monitor our spot on the list through Yelp, and got a notification when the table was ready. Our food was delicious and worth the wait! Everything seemed very fresh, well-presented, and cooked perfectly even with the big crowds. Also just loved the decor and it was a fun vibe. Very clean and bright. Stopped by for brunch while visiting Milwaukee for the first time this Memorial Day weekend and I have to say this was my favorite establishment of the trip. Everything about SweetDiner is a winner. First off, the restaurant itself is beautiful. I'm talking major instagram aesthetics. Albeit pricier, the portions were generous and the food was incredible. I had the Southern Eggs Benedict w/ avocado, of course, and the breakfast potatoes. It was all so so good! Really cute and modern brunch place. My clients recommended this place to me and it was delicious! They have a variety of dishes for you to choose from and crush pressed juices as well. I got a green juice and guilt free omelette. I was able to customize my omelette and changed the protein. The chive biscuits were delicious, you can upgrade your toast for $1 more to this biscuit. They gave me potatoes instead of fruit for my dish but they were accommodating and gave me both. Overall I would give this place 3.8/5 rating. read more

I visited sweet diner after hearing good things from friends and family highly recommended it. We arrived on a non busy morning which was a good thing we got seated inmediatly. However we got a crappy waitress. She acted like she didn't want to be there and was anoid... so needless to say we got some attitude. Every time we asked for something...we wanted to substitute turkey instead of chicken. We didn't mind the up charge but I guess they don't cater to customers. They said they don't do that... we wanted a plain carrot juice and we were told they make fresh juice so we didn't think it was that big of a deal to press some carrots... but any way they said no. FYI please don't say you guys cater to your customers when you clearly don't and its such of a bother. I am very disappointed with this place. the food is ok, i have had better iorder a Montecristo and wanted turkey instead of chicken any way we won't be going back anytime soon and strongly recommend people to stay away if there looking for a cater experience as this is not it its more of a glorified Denny's and more expensive and I don't mind paying for good food and quality service this place was just a disappointed. read more

The service at Sweet Diner is top-notch. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always willing to accommodate special requests. As far as food, I've never had something I didn't like. The skillets are a standout, with hearty portions and a perfect blend of ingredients. The grilled cheese is another must-try, with gooey cheese and perfectly toasted bread. Their soup is also good and changes every day! The French toast is light and fluffy, with just the right amount of sweetness, and the chicken and waffles are crispy, juicy, and so satisfying. Hello Yelp readers: I had breakfast the other day at Sweet Diner. First I want to say, WOW, what an amazing space. I felt like I was in Chicago or New York. it was that fancy. Exposed blackened brick, 20 foot ceilings, and very modern and large. two words: Warm and Inviting. We had a nice view from our table of Chicago st as well. Our server was fabulous, very sweet, I fail to recall her name now, but she was so accommodating, she even found a higher chair for my height-challenged friend!!! I had the good ole traditional eggs over easy, side of potatoes, and bacon with Rye toast. i ate every last bite. She had a monster sized waffle. & we were outta there with a $30 breakfast. We are planning on going back in two weeks for breakfast again!! If I recall, they are hosting Thanksgiving lunch or dinner at SD too. Call for details. But first go just for breakfast!! Pros- Beautiful Buildout Cons - - Food, the food started off great but is now too greasy, especially on the egg dishes. They've also started skimping on things like jelly, when they open it was a high end variety individually packaged with options like Raspberry, Orange Marmalade, and Black Berry. I recently had the pleasure of brunching at Sweet Dinner. I'd heard great things, and they definitely lived up to the hype! Arriving around 9:30 on a Sunday morning was perfect - easy parking and no wait. We snagged a cozy booth and started with some delicious coffee drinks to warm up. The menu was accessible via QR code, though navigating between sections on my phone was a bit tricky. But I persevered and was rewarded with fantastic biscuits and gravy and corned beef hash. The portions were generous (almost too big!), the flavors were incredible, and the ingredients tasted fresh. I highly recommend the biscuits and gravy! While the ambiance was initially relaxed, it became louder as the restaurant got busier, and the music made conversation a bit difficult. I dine often here as I work just down the street. Davonte is the only good waiter I have ever encountered. Some of the fluid is outstanding such as the me Chilaquiles and some is horrible. The bread they serve is the worst and if you don't ask for jam they just bring butter. I ordered a Chai Tea Latte and it can with a ton of whip cream (gross!) and about fours sips of latte. Our last visit was extremely disappointing. As most restaurants start out great and go downhill as their popularity increases SweetDiner is no exception. Our hostess was rude and the wait was 1.5 hours on a Sunday. We walked away to Tre Rivali down the street and had a wonderful brunch with out the wait. Wow- what an experience today at Sweet Diner. This was our first time here but it won't be our last. How amazing is the décor when you enter this restaurant. We picked a busy time to come on a Friday it was after 12:30 and the place was packed. Good to see. We got greeted right away and had a table within minutes. Our server was so helpful and guided us through the menu, so many options. We settled on the daily special that our server suggested Corned beef hash skillet and the Berry Blast pancakes. We weren't let down at all with the food or the service. Our server was so happy, friendly and attentive. The manager stopped by to check on us and spend a little time at the table. False walls offer a feeling of privacy without removing you completely from the energetic atmosphere. And that's just the ROOM! The food is clean, local and made to order any way you prefer. Innovating combinations and even the gluten free pancakes are to die for! Their house mimosa with a touch of raspberry or complimentary Pilcrow coffee make any wait time enjoyable. Sweet Diner was a breakfast highlight during my time in Milwaukee! I tried the Meat Lovers Skillet Bowl, Chicken and Biscuits, and the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, and every dish was amazing. The skillet bowl was hearty and packed with flavor - definitely a meal that sticks with you. The chicken and biscuits were perfectly done, and the Buffalo chicken sandwich was deliciously tangy. Drinks were spot-on too, especially the dirty chai latte, and the coffee was great. Beyond the food, the atmosphere and aesthetic of the restaurant really add to the experience. None of the drinks (gin mostly) went with the food in ANY kind of way. Nothing 'New American' about anything. The bar must have run out of appropriate glassware since all our drinks came in a brandy snifter. The drinks arrived after our food and we were never offered a second round. Food - eh. Unmemorable, but not offensive or disgusting. Again, would have liked a steak with my gin drink -- or maybe a margarita to go with the chippy salsie. One dish was unavailable, but not communicated at the order. We ended up needing to refill our own waters. You get the idea. As far as the space itself - cute. But small. Can't say it was cozy? Always liked the Ambassador, and the bathrooms were a fun distraction from the service. Minus the part where they ran out of (cloth) hand towels. So much potential - with a lot of revisions. Nothing I would want to do again - just like The Rave. We shall call it "The Fritz"

I like to try something a little different, so I ordered the Avocado Toast with Eggs. I requested my eggs over easy, and they came out perfectly cooked. For my side, I chose the hash browns instead of the fruit. I asked for them to be extra crispy, and in hindsight, I should have asked for them to be extra-extra crispy. They were still very good. Service: We arrived right as they opened, so there were only a few occupied tables. We were seated immediately. Our server did a great job getting us settled in, gave us plenty of time to look over the menu, and never made us feel rushed. The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout our meal. Atmosphere: The restaurant has a welcoming feel. Large windows fill the dining room with natural light, and the tables and booths provide plenty of space. The noise level was low enough to enjoy a quiet conversation. I also liked how they used wood posts and beams to break up the large dining room, making it feel more intimate. Nice touch. Overall, it was a solid breakfast experience. I'd love to see a few more inventive daily specials to complement the menu.

The pancakes were delicious and my friend enjoyed her meal as well. It was really the eggs. I would usually say something bit I was with a friend and we were having a good time. The counter service was a great bonus and gave the place that classic diner feel. Everything we ordered was fantastic. The corned beef hash was some of the best we've had, the Western omelette was loaded with fresh ingredients, and the meat lovers skillet was hearty, packed with bacon, sausage, ham, and plenty of flavor. Every plate came out hot, the portions were generous, and everything was cooked just right. Friendly service, great food, and a classic diner atmosphere. If you're in the Oak Creek area, whether you're a local or just passing through like we were, this place is absolutely worth the stop. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town!

After my last breakfast experience of $22+ for a chili cheese omelette for one person from a dive…read morerestaurant I came here for breakfast for two people which was $30 with one coffee at a nicer diner. This is a solid breakfast spot and every table was in service towards the end of our meals. We had a chili cheese omelette and the country fried steak breakfast. I had the country fried steak this time but I did have the chili cheese omelette on my last visit and I didn't snap any pictures because a customer had a medical emergency and an ambulance and fire truck came to the restaurant but I remember liking it. The decor is nothing fancy but it's not a dive with over priced omelets like my breakfast experience, look at my last review. The country fried steak was noticeably bigger than most places around town except for NA cafe which is a real country steak and I just expected a frozen restaurant supply quality. It was golden brown with that commercial sausage gravy which is the norm for 99% of breakfast restaurants around town so I'm not going to knock them on that because I'm a country fried steak guy all my life. The sunny side up eggs were cooked perfectly. The extra crispy hash browns were cooked perfectly and the sourdough toast was better than the average restaurant where you couldn't tell if it was white or sourdough with that chew. Overall it's a solid breakfast spot with all my visits and at $13 it's $9 cheaper than my last breakfast experience at a dive restaurant and hits the spot.
