Went with hubby to try this place as we were perusing the mall area and wanted to grab something for lunch. Not impressed. Hadn't eaten here before. The staff wasn't friendly - cashiers, and the other staff member who was there not very helpful or friendly nor did anyone bother to explain how anything worked. Priced higher than I would have expected for the amount of food and quality of the food. I picked the chicken avocado bowel with blackened chicken - came with rice and lettuce which was kind odd combination, as well as avocado, chips, dressing, etc. Not a ton of toppings to pick from. I chose to not get the onions. They were pretty skimpy on the meat as others have pointed out. For the price, didn't think the amount of food gotten was that great. husband got a custom bowl with blackened chicken - didn't seem super exciting. Otherwise the restaurant was clean, and had good seating. We got some water, drinks were a little pricey. Probably won't be back. I think the restaurant can work on the friendliness (or lack thereof) of the staff, as well as the food offerings. read more

If you're looking for a healthier version of chipotle, you should try this place. They have bowls and plates, similar to Chipotle but with some greener options. You can expect to see spinach, kale, sweet potatoes, and other veggies with wild rice and even couscous as grain options. The plates are well though out and flavorful and some come with dressing for extra flavor. They have both hot and cold bowl options. I've been looking for a place like this for awhile, where I can have healthier options when I'm not looking for just a plain salad. This location was a bit busy at lunchtime and the service was okay, so plan accordingly. Went in for a salad around 7:30 the other night, and there was literally only one lady in front of me being helped amongst about 5-6 workers. I stood there for so long (at LEAST 5 min- I really wanted a salad) with no acknowledgment, no hello, no be right with you or anything. It's got an upscale fast food vibe with prices to match but for me the food wasn't worth the money. If you're a vegan and hungry, get french fries. I would really love to give them a better rating... The food is good but it is wildly over priced. I wouldn't bother getting in line if you don't have much time for a lunch break because the staff has no sense of urgency and I've waited in line for 10-15mins before. I had the chicken teriyaki, was not what I expected. My selection was mediocre. It was a lot of greenery (hence the name), It required more chicken. However I'm trying to eat more healthily so it did the job. Service was fast, you chose your options as you go or you pick from a pre planned salad. I was solo today, the ambiance allowed for concentration. They had good music playing in the background. If you're working from here the music would be a bit loud. read more

I was surprised at just how good my salad was. Typically salads can be bland. Not at SweetGreens I had the vegan shroomami salad. Everything is made to order ( think chipotle's). I love love salads and to have this available outside of the city is great! I had the opportunity to try them before they opened to the public. They have a great selection of salads and built your own option with healthy toppings. It might be a little pricy but you get a very generous amount. They have vegan options available as well. I ordered the chicken Buffalo and it was so delicious and filling. Anthony was the one who took my order and he was so polite and made sure he gave me exactly what I did and didn't want on my salad. Ordered takeout for dinner, proved to be a great choice! I had shroomami with extra spicy broccoli, and the toppings all came in very fresh. The salad has a nice harmony of flavors and smells, especially with the basil and spicy pumpkin seeds. Do I like this business? Well... sorta kinda. The portions are generous and the quality of the food is amazing. But just today I have had a negative experience. Every time I have been to this specific location, I notice that there are 4 people operating the business maximum. 1 is always on break, 2 in the kitchen doing prep work and online orders, and one taking your order. There have been times when I walk in and there are two people ahead in line and it will take maybe half an hour to get to my order. Today was another one of those experiences. This sweetgreen needs a lot of work. No matter what time of day that I visit this location, there is always an insanely long wait time. Sometimes it looks like there are 2 people running the entire restaurant. When there is a line going outside the door at the same time, it makes the wait even longer. I do not have the time or patience to stand in line for 30 minutes at a fast casual restaurant. The last time that I got delivery from here, my salad came with a few drops of dressing in a cup. This was after I requested extra dressing and waited an hour for my food to come. I was dissatisfied enough to contact customer service. Thankfully, I received a full refund. For the price that this food is sold at, I should not be receiving a bowl of dry leaves. And that's not even getting into the ridiculous amount of fees that sweetgreen charges for delivery (a $12 salad turns into a $20 one! really?). I'll return in-person if there are more staff. Delivery, though? Never again. There are some major improvements that need to be done here. read more

Happy to see SH open in Oakbrook. I loved the takeout order last week of the Harvest bowl. Decided to try 2 different salads today. Husband loved his Buffalo bowl- tangy. Even with a request for medium dressing, my salad was on the dry side. Food was good. Need more staff though. Tables around us and outside were never cleaned the whole time we had our lunch. and the floors were full of crumbs (I saw an empty salad dressing container on floor. Needed something fresh, and saw this place had just opened up a location in the oakbrook center so I gave it a shot, I am nothing but blown away at the complexity of flavors going on in this salad, I got the garden Cobb with spicy cashew dressing. It's so fresh and so full of various flavors and textures. They dont skimp out either it's a massive salad, packed with it's toppings:D!deffinetly worth it's price, if not a phenomenon value. I also want to point out that just about everything is compostable, from the vessels in which it comes in to the fork and wrapping for said fork. I tried this place out with a few friends. The food was decent but a bit on the pricier side for quantity. However, it did taste really fresh and healthy which was the goal here. The staff were willing to answer my questions about the food, but it seemed like they were more busy with other things. The atmosphere of this place is summed up in one word...sad. The salad is good, but the employees don't look particularly happy to be there. There were customers in line, and it seems someone (manager) could change some of the work the employees were doing to move the line along. Wow, I just remembered why I don't eat at my nearest Sweetgreen..what a shame. At my old job there was one across the street from us in downtown on Erie. So good! The teamwork was great and it was very fast paced but still nice! This location however is the opposite. Very, very, and I mean extremely slow. I came last year and had the same issue! Don't know who is training them but a lot the employees were moving at a sloth pace. Mind you I was in no rush, even with my sick, crying 2 yr old. It looked like no one wanted to be there. There was no good teamwork. At first I thought they were understaffed because the line was never ending it and just kept getting longer. Then more and more employees popped out but they were all doing different things. 4 in the back prepping or making mobile orders. And 3 in the front but only one was attending to the humongous line. Finally when I thought more employees where going to come to help, the one gentlemen left to the back and now it was the womans turn. At other places like chipotle there are 2-3 people in the front. One does the base, the other the toppings and the last one rings you out. There was only one person doing all 3 tasks here and there was never any teamwork. This place just..makes you not want to comeback. Even scooping the ingredients into the bowl is like watching a slow motion picture.
