I got to eat at this Sweetgreen location for free during their soft-opening, but I didn't want to do a review until I tried them for a regular visit. I wasn't that familiar with Sweetgreen specifically, but it is pretty straightforward. It's very customizable bowls and salads, where you can get a large variety of fresh ingredients in a bowl. This is almost "too" customizable because there are a huge variety of options, some with an upcharge, and some without. You order from a tablet, and it's pretty easy to get what you want. The food comes out made to order, and came out pretty quickly. This interior is very clean and new inside. They do have indoor and outdoor seating as well. It's also all packaged so you can easily take it to go. I tried the Steak Honey Crunch bowl, but I had them add a few things. The spicy honey mustard dressing was good. Husband got the Shroomami, which I am pretty sure was vegan. That's a good thing with customization, you can go higher protein, vegan, etc. read more

Tried Sweetgreen again today, it's been awhile. Ordered the Autumn Harvest Bowl. Not sure I would order an item with chicken from them again. The texture of the chicken reminds me of meat that has had carageenan injected. It has a rubbery texture that makes you wonder if it's fat when you're chewing. The majority of the bowl is the greens. The actual nuts & bolts are somewhat scarce. The jalapeno chicken wrap was ok but again full of greens rather than toppings. I regret not taking photos as it would back up my statements. I like that their ingredients are fresh and it's a quick bite but I think if I wanted a salad with chicken I would opt for Starbird. read more

Don't Kale the Vibe National chain of salad, bowl, and wrap purveyors that's nearly 250 restaurants strong in almost twenty states. This is their sixth South Bay location, but the first one I've visited. They have a strong company ethos of using sustainably sourced seasonal ingredients from farms and local providers. While all that is fine, the big draw for me is their "automated makeline system called the Infinite Kitchen." Basically, it's a robotic conveyor belt system that dispenses the ingredients into the bowl and requires almost zero human interaction beyond boxing it up and replenishing the supplies. While others are fighting AI and the robot invasion tooth and nail, I, for one, welcome our new robotic overlords. The Good: * In-house entertainment watching the robot do its thing. * You order at the kiosk and the food gets made automatically with zero human interaction. My favorite. * Get the app for rewards and pre-ordering. * Easy large shared parking lot. * App provides you with all the macros of your meal, beyond just the legally required calories. I mean, if you're into that stuff. Basically, when you're 400+ lbs, a few extra grams of protein ain't amounting to much. * You definitely feel healthier after eating here. This is the kind of food that " scrapes the sides," if you follow my meaning. The Meh: * Some of the food here tastes a little old like it's been premade days in advance, which if we're being honest, it probably was. Especially the meats--they have that leftover food taste. The Ugly: * Keeping with the above theme of food, but maybe it's the way the food is dispensed from the above-mentioned robot, but the quinoa comes out like a solid brick of grain. I'm pretty sure I could've taken it out back to have a catch with it. Conclusion: Is the robot revolution upon us? Sure. Do I foresee it taking over? Not in the immediate future. Will I be back? Possibly. It is nice to have a fast, convenient, and healthy option for lunch at a reasonable price. read more

Yesterday was my first time here, and it will also be my last. The food doesn't justify how rude the employees can be to me and to other patrons. Unfortunately for me, I had a coupon that didn't have a code, so I had to order at the counter. I ordered a custom bowl with a decent amount of ingredients. The employee didn't read the ingredients back to me, but I just assumed she got all of them. In hindsight, don't trust them with this. I grabbed my bowl and then went home. Once there I noticed that the bowl was completely wrong: it was missing a few items and had different ones thrown in for good measure. When I went back, the employee behind the counter just seemed annoyed that I was complaining about my order. I pointed out what was wrong, and was hopeful that they could correct it. After waiting 10 minutes, the bowl came out. Unfortunately, it came out wrong again. It was missing chickpeas and tomatoes. I figured it would a quick fix. The employee scooped some chickpeas, but then said it was wasn't possible to get the tomatoes. She spoke to someone that said they could get the machine to get me some tomatoes, except that it would take another 10 minutes. This seems like a clear flaw in their system. Such a joke. Not once during this whole ordeal was an apology offered. A simple "sorry about this" or a "thank you for your patience" would've been cool. I have to thank them for making it easy for me to never come back. There are far too many good food options around, that I don't need to waste my money here. read more

I keep getting inconsistent quality from this SweetGreen. When I place an order for pick up, something is always off: no bread, dressing not mixed in as requested, extra ingredient ordered, but missing a key ingredient from the salad. Yesterday my Godmother and I ordered a Kale Caesar salad to split. We requested an extra bowl, then we left with our salad. We were headed to a secluded spot to enjoy our treat, and something told me to look at the salad. I stared at it for a bit, it looked very small, but my brain couldn't register what was missing. I tried to divide it in half, and there was very little dressing. That's when I'd realized: the salad was lacking KALE! I returned and the young girl who helped on the register was great to remake the salad, add a ton of kale, mixed it in and gave one more slice of bread. She was great! I wish this location made salads in front of you like all the other SweetGreens I visit. Maybe then there would be more consistency around orders. I was so excited to have one this close to me, but every time I've gone, I've just experienced one issue or another. Not giving up hope yet, hoping this will become my favorite location of all time. read more

I attended the soft opening today and have mixed feelings. On the positive side, the food quality was excellent--the salmon was perfectly cooked, and the avocado and cucumber were incredibly fresh and delicious. Because it was a preview event, the meals were complimentary, which was incredibly generous. However, two things missed the mark. First, the greeting at the door set a strange tone. The staff member letting us in explicitly told us to be "kind" to staff since it was their second day--while his coworker used some profanity just as we were walking up. It felt like a pre-emptive reprimand before we even walked through the door, which wasn't a very welcoming vibe. (I should mention that I also work in the service industry & have acted in a managerial setting, so I do understand the nastiness of some folks. However, I'm all about not shaming people & making assumptions before walking through the front door.) Second, portion consistency needs some work. My salmon bowl barely had any rice at the bottom and the salmon piece was on the small side, meaning I finished my meal long before my daughter finished hers (and she eats super fast, I was waiting awhile, and you can compare the bowls from my photos below). It's also worth noting that the Miso Salmon Bowl is $21.45 after tax. Compare that to World Wraps for $19.37 which includes the tax & service fee, however, at the latter restaurant you get more for your $$$). Maybe this was an oversight and they were low on rice? The ingredients are fantastic, but hopefully, management can focus on a more welcoming customer service and consistent portions before the official grand opening. Ambiance is nice and minimalistic. I have been to the Sweetgreen location in Pruneyard and wanted to try the El Paseo location since I had a coupon. At both locations, the people who took my order were not too friendly. This visit, I had the Autumn Harvest salad which was actually pretty tasty, but the salad was wilted and looked old. Not sure I will return unless I get more coupons since the service and food were not great and it is pretty expensive. read more

We were anxious to try this new restaurant. We will never go back even though the food was okay. As to the ambiance, the restaurant is small and noisy. We chose to sit outside. There were three very skimpy umbrellas and the tables were not even big enough to put your food on. They need more shade on the patio. Service. What service? You have to order on computers which were not up to the task. After one half hour we went to the counter to see if we could order there. We did get a really nice young man who helped us. Came in during evening hours and ordered one salad to go from the kiosk. It took 30 minutes to get my salad. There was a total of 3 workers and it was very busy with customers. Everyone was waiting on their food and we were all disbelief how slow the process was to get orders completed. I noticed this establishment now uses a machine that prepares everyone's orders (bowls) and it was so slow. The two young font line workers were getting confused as the bowls came out and could not get the bowls through in a quick manner. Many customers were getting flustered as we all tried to wait patiently. Using a machine to prepare bowls is not working, it just slows everything down. Please add more humans during busy times! Also, once I got home my salad was not great. Chicken was hard to chew and cold and the veggies lacked flavor. I'm so disappointed as I've been to Sweetgreen's before and never had issues until now.
