I've been told that the bowl I got was much larger than bowls normally are, so I'm giving extra points for that. I ordered the Chicken Pesto Parm quinoa bowl for lunch and it was HUGE. The entire container was filled and it came with 3 sauces - 2x pesto and 1x hot sauce. Chicken Pesto Parm ($13.95) - I always find it hard to justify spending over $10 for a salad when I can make a salad at home for $5 or less, but this was a pretty large and tasty one. The chicken was nicely roasted and not too dry, the parmesan had a nice bite, and the breadcrumbs added a good crunch. The quinoa, spinach, and broccoli got lost a little bit, but the tomatoes were plump and tasty, and the bowl as a whole was pretty well balanced. I think I wouldn't normally go out for a salad for a price like this, but if I had to, I'd get this again - it was only 525 calories too! read more

My first time at sweetgreens and it a very pleasant experience. The staff at the front were very friendly and patient with me since it was my first time, she even offered to let me try some of the items I had questions about. The place was clean and the hot protein options were actually hot. I got a Romain lettuce, quinoa, tomatoes, red onions, carrots, and for protein I opted for blackened chicken and roasted mushrooms. I havent been here in ages so the sign was a surprise. However we were stopped at the door with this stupid sign saying they dont take cash. WTH? I popped in here yesterday to grab a late lunch to go on my way back to the office. I literally only had two minutes to spare to get back in time for my meeting and the sweetgreen staff had me out the door that quickly. I ordered the chicken brussel bowl (seasonal bowl?) and scarfed all of it down which is rare for me (I'm typically a slow eater). I want to note that it's a decent (read filling) amount - which is a contrast to Chopts seasonal bowls that seem so tiny and never filling. I appreciate the expediency of my order being complete. Honestly, I was trying to fumble to sign into my app which slowed me down more than anything else... I should have been more prepared. I do want to add the caveat that I went at 3:42pm on a Thursday with no line. So that might have been a factor but I still can appreciate that there are some places that are hella slow even with no line or customers. So thanks for the great service sweetgreen. You really can't go wrong with SweetGreen. They source their ingredients from local farmers, offer affordable, healthy salads (No unhealthy wraps), and provide an inviting space to eat your dinner. They have a few permanent salads or you can make your own salad down the line. I usually go for their seasonal salads like the Maketto Bowl (Offered the Fall of 2016). This location is right next to the Foggy Bottom Metro Stop and have about 10 tables or so and outdoor seating. read more

This location of sweetgreen is super convenient to where I live. It's small, the staff are nice and efficient (never had issues with them), and you get what you order. I usually order sweetgreen as a 'detox' when I've had too much other food, and Harvest Bowl is usually my go-to. If I'm feeling adventurous, I'll swap out the apples for Brussels sprouts, woo, the goat cheese for cheddar, or the almonds for walnuts, woo! My only issue with sweetgreen is sometimes the roasted chicken has chewy bits in it, which is a complete turnoff for me. This actually happens more often than not, and as I eat my harvest bowl right now, I came across some chewy (What is that?? skin? cartilage? ahhhhh) pieces. This review is going to be based on service, food, and experience. For reference I have tried all classic salads and warm bowls except for OMG Omega. I really love sweetgreen. I love what they stand for and I love their food. Options are anywhere from classic salad options to salad with a twist. This location is very close to my office which makes it my number one spot for lunch. When I first started here, the employees at this location would give me a hard time if I were ordering more than one salad during the lunch hour since I was holding the line.Our corporate cards do not work with the app so anytime we wanted to grab lunch, we have to physically go and order it. Service: I can't really generalize the service here. Majority of the time it is great, but when there is a line out the door and they are nonstop working the staff can get a bit frustrated but that is completely understandable. Food: The only complaint I have is when they put chicken instead of tofu. This has happened more than once and I either take my salad back or end up picking through the chicken, My favorite salads are the kale caesar and the guacamole greens. Experience: The staff here works really hard to make your salad as best and quickly as possible, I have good and bad days here. Days that salads are made perfectly and days when I order tofu and they give me chicken. Some of the staff members go out of their way to get to know you which I like since I see them almost every day. I highly, highly recommend to order ahead during lunch hours. Lines are typically out of the store and it can take up to 30 minutes to get your lunch because of the wait. This was close to the hotel and there was a derecho happening, so I ran over here for a warm bowl and a salad. Popular decision; I waited in a line of 7 people for about 15 minutes. I ordered two straight off the board, no upgrades or swaps. At the end of the line, they ran out of tofu for the night (it was 7:15 pm; they're open until 10) and could not complete my order. I had already paid. The food was excellent, as always, but the staff seemed to be having an internal conflict. One person seemed to be training, the other two were doing their best, but the fourth person behind the counter was slamming tongs and bowls and throwing a fit. She seemed like a supervisor, or just seemed to be the one in charge, or maybe she was just in a bad mood as her new tattoo healed (it was covered in clear wrap), but she belittled the other three in front of the line of customers, which was about 12 deep at this point. "Why didn't you get me an avocado?! I asked you for an avocado. No one gave me an avocado. Why? What's your problem?" Super rude. This is my go-to after a long day of work. I travel to DC quite a bit and love to stay in Foggy Bottom. While there are other locations near here, this one tends to be closest to the hotel I usually stay at. My first order at sweetgreen was about a year ago straight from their menu. I don't remember what it was but it hit me hooked! I've been making my own ever since! They've started making their own cold-pressed juices which I also love! I'm going to try them all. I tried the satisfy, purify and energize last time I was in DC. For $7 a bottle, you get the 12oz size. While this may seem expensive compared to whole food's 16oz juices at $6.99 plus tax, I prefer the flavors of sweetgreen. read more

Realized halfway through (I was really hungry,) that the base was kale and not spinach as I had ordered. Always enjoy getting a quick lunch to go at sweetgreen! I'm a big fan of the harvest bowl, but I've also done some make your own salads, which are always good. The ingredients are always fresh, which is a big plus when you're making salads! There isn't any seating inside (a few tables outside) so I always get my food to go. So excited about my new home Sweetgreen with Sweetpress. This is very close to work and I can make it there everyday which I've been doing. The staff here is great - very friendly, just a nice group. There is no indoor seating, so if you want to sit inside, I'd recommend walking over to the Foggy Bottom location. The sweetpress juices are somewhat reminiscent of Blueprint cleanse juices, and I really enjoyed purify which is a green-based juice. Let me just go on record for taking credit for this. I wrote a review on 4/16/09 that stated: "So what I propose is that Sweet Green open at 8 a.m. Yes - 8 a.m. That way many of us can pick up that salad on the way to work in throw it in the fridge when we get there, and avoid having to venture out at lunch with an extensive line, at that. Since green smoothies are all the rage in the raw food community, maybe they could sell those in the morning as well. Trust me - spinach pineapple smoothies are to die for." Well, they went with juices which makes sense because it can be done offsite. And this location opens at 8 am! So my advice to Sweetgreen now is to really promote the juices a la Blueprint, and those things will fly off the shelves. $7.00/pop is a lot cheaper than the fedex/dry ice cost to get juices cleanses sent from New York. I also think the fact that this location opens at 8 a.m. needs more promoting. Should be more in your face that hey, I have a busy day today, not gonna be able to get away from my desk - let me just pick up something on the way to work. I wound up here because dc dosa wasn't open for some unexplained reason. I figured that sweet green was a known quantity. I knew what I was getting. I was wrong. Smells like a locker room. Has minimal, uncomfortable seating. Has better seating outside, but the heat lamps weren't on and it was below 50 degrees. But the worst thing was the food. I ordered one of their winter seasonal salads that has "wild rice" in it. Unfortunately, about a quarter of the grains were uncooked. It was confusing, because I would get a mouthful of crunchiness, and then I would check the grains, and they were cooked. It took many bites to realize they mixed in uncooked wild rice grains with cooked grains. They look very similar, but they are not. So yay, I had an inedible salad...I have no idea how they managed that. From now on I just need to stay away from Foggy Bottom when I'm hungry. read more

After our yoga class, my two gal pals and I were happy to find this sweetgreen around the corner. We stopped in and bummed they do not serve Fro-yo at this location, BOOO. Torn between the seasonal salad (with strawberries, mint, dried cranberries and cheese), I opted for something more savory and ordered a Misoba salad. I asked that some kale be added to the mesclun salad blend, soba noodles, avocado, raw corn, carrots, seed mix, cilantro. My salad scientist happily obliged and topped my salad off with medium amount of miso sesame ginger vinaigrette and sriracha according my request. Salad came to $8+tax. Not bad. My girlfriend wanting something small and light chose one of their juices made off sight. Some carrot, ginger, beet, blend in a standard bottle for a whopping $10. Haayyy-zeus! Does a shot of tequila come with that because it should because holy moley, $10?! You can get a mega jamba juice or robeks for less than that. I get that its "all natural, freshly squeezed, blah blah" but not for me. I'll stick to my hearty salads there and get my Sweetgreen salads/fro-yo fulfilled at another location. Yikes! read more

Their kale Caesar salad with chicken is awesome - nice ratio of greens to dressing (I got the salad with light dressing) and toppings. This salad came with bite sized pieces of chicken and a crumbled Parmesan crisp, which really added a lot to the salad! The kale was tender and the dressing was very garlicky - just how I like it! I went early, so was able to avoid the lunch rush, but their system seems efficient (more so than choppd) and the staff was very friendly. Sweetgreen, I love you. And the fact that you happen to be located one block down from my hotel means that I get to have dinner with you every night for five nights straight. Yes, I am perfectly serious and yes, apparently I am a little OCD (or maybe just a little fixated, you pick). Tired, but hungry, we just could not face the thought of room service and while this may seem silly, at three blocks out, Trader Joe's was just too darn far away. Did I mention that we were exhausted? DC is like Vegas - everything LOOKS close, but once you start walking you realize that it's not THAT close. It was almost 9pm and we realized that we might be out of luck, but decided to see if Sweetgreen was still open. We rounded the corner, trudged a few more steps, and lo and behold, the lights were still on! We entered and were greeted by a smiling face, someone who obviously enjoyed her job - I love to see that! After checking out the menu, we each placed our orders and watched the ingredients come together. Not only are the salads completely customizable, they also give you the option of light, medium or heavy dressing - thoughtful! It's all in the details, folks. Salads made, we paid and trudged back to our hotel. We fell onto chairs and then fell upon our salads. WOW! Holy deliciousness, Batman! I ordered a Misoba salad: mesclun, soba noodles, avocado, raw corn, carrots, seed mix, cilantro; topped with a miso sesame ginger vinaigrette and sriracha. gluten-free. Medium dressing, medium sriracha. The flavor combination knocked my socks off. Really. My socks hit the floor. It was that good. After licking both my fork and the bowl, I realized they were on to something. We've tried Chop't in NYC before and while we liked the salad restaurant idea, none of their flavor combinations really wowed us. Sweetgreen, however, took salad to a whole new, wonderful level. So much so that we ended up stopping there each night, around 9pm, after a full day of sightseeing. The only change I made after my initial order there was to add chicken - and that just added a nice extra layer of flavor, not to mention some needed protein. Worst sweetgreen I've ever been to. I waited for almost 30 minutes for my salad. When I got there I was told there was no more steelhead so I was waiting on that for a while and then when the salad was finally ready I was told there was no bread and they had just put it in the oven so there was no point waiting on that also. Furthermore, when I finally got home with the salad I waited for for 30 minutes the avocado was still whole, not at all mixed up. And I had gotten "medium" heavy dressing but the salad was severely under dressed!! Very disappointing because I live in West End so this is the closest sweetgreen to my house. In town for a conference and needed an early bite before a work dinner and this was across the street from the hotel (Marriott Georgetown) where I was staying. The gentleman behind the counter was this dear combination of humorous and accommodating -- while he was mixing up my salad, I called him a "salad artist" and his co-worker said, "yeah, Picasso!" It was fun then to mash it up and say that he was the salad Picasso. I wish I had gotten his name to put in this post but spaced out! The salad was such a yummilicious treat (beet, goat cheese, arugula, kale, spicy cashew dressing, walnuts, and some chicken) that I went back the next day (April 15) and the same gentleman was there and I over heard him say it was his birthday. We all said "happy birthday" and wished we could have done more to make it more of a celebration :) Please know that he is soooo terrific and has a gift of turning an ordinary meal into a real moment because he really is attuned to what people are saying and responding so nicely. This is one of the worst Sweetgreen locations. If you want to order a salad and have them mess up or forget key ingredients then come here. I ordered the peach burrata and I thankfully noticed while I was still in the store that they forgot the burrata. I then made it home and discovered they used the incorrect dressing (green goddess?) and apples instead of peaches. I realize this is a first world problem but still rather frustrating. How hard is it to put the correct ingredients in a salad and why do so many sweetgreen employees struggle with this? Are they giving the employees joints before they start work each day? Oh and I haven't even covered the attitude they have at this location. Go here very often since it's close to home and I've only had positive experiences. I was surprised to see the bad reviews. Maybe they've made some changes. I suppose it's worse than other locations in the sense that it's tiny and they don't offer things like the juices, but the staff is nice and I've never had any issues with my salads. I've gone at busy times as well and the line moves pretty fast. The toppings are also generous. Most importantly, they are not Chop't (this is *key*). Highly recommend the harvest bowl with beets instead of rice and the guacamole greens with shrimp instead of chicken (if you're feeling spendy!). I'm actually not a big fan of their chicken but that's maybe just because chicken is not red meat or seafood. I also recommend using the app for rewards. read more

Ive had a number of issues lately with this Sweetgreen location and I felt it was time to update my review. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy their salads, in particular the guacamole greens. I order it every time now. But lately, there's always been an issue at this location. So often the person helping me will forget an ingredient in the salad. Usually it's a lime but sometimes it's other more main ingredients. And this time, my salad was only half filled. I was shocked to see how little there was. I understand that the dressing causes it to shrink but this was shockingly small (check the photo). The servers though are incredibly friendly but still, Sweetgreen says they give you bigger salads than Chop't. Well, after tonight, I'm not so sure about that. read more
