Swift and Sons Tavern is a nice spot to grab a drink or a bite before a Cubs game - that's what we did and we enjoyed the visit. When you first walk in the door you are greeted with a big bar and a beautifully decorated restaurant. It is open, has tons of natural light, and is one of the most inviting establishments I think I've been to in a long time. We had a small table to the left of the bar but it was perfect for us. On top of that, we didn't have to wait long for any type of service, be it orders or food arrival. We kicked things off with drinks, a cocktail and a mocktail (compliments to this place for pricing the mocktail right where it should be, which is to say less than an actual cocktail), both were delicious. Moving quickly into apps, which we only had apps given that we were going to a game, we made some choice selections. The food was, just okay. We had the Pimento Cheese dip and, unfortunately, found that the honey drizzle masked too much of the cheese flavor (and I love me some pimento cheese!). My grilled oysters, however, were tasty. Additionally, we had a salad that was fine. As you'd expect, the prices at a classy spot like this are higher but if you go into it expecting that you won't be surprised. I'm happy with our decision to give S&S a try. On a next visit I'd look forward to trying other items on the menu, probably an entree. read more

I've always gone for dinner here, but their brunch is worth a visit! The staff was very friendly, which I really appreciated considering my parents were visiting from out of town. We started with the Monkey Bread, which we definitely recommend. I do wish the individual pieces were coated since it seemed to be only the top that had any butter/cinnamon flavor. For our entrees, my Dad loved the Birria Breakfast. My Mom enjoyed her Grilled Chicken Salad, but felt it was too big of a serving. I really liked my Avocado Toast, but it had too much Sweet Potato and not enough avocado on it. My parents did not like the coffee. Swift & Sons is one of my favorite restaurants in Wrigleyville, so I'll be back! read more

We stopped in Swift and Sons Tavern on November 20, 2021, just before The Purdue Boilermakers destroyed the Northwestern Wildcats across the street from here (at Wrigley Field). That's right Swift and Sons Tavern is located right across the street from the Iconic Wrigley Field Marquee. What an incredible location/view! The owners of Swift and Sons Tavern also own The Girl and the Goat so you know the food is going to be excellent. We had raw oysters and some banana bread along with some delicious libations. Joined friends for drinks here and it was a strange experience in terms of service. The layout of the restaurant itself is nice, pretty expansive with lots of different seating options. Ordered a drink from one person only for a different person to bring two drinks that weren't what we ordered followed by the original person bringing what I did order. I'm so disappointed. I was so excited to try Swift and Sons as it has been on my list for years. I am now regretting not just going to the one in the West Loop as I hear that's the one that's way better. We went to restaurant week and overall the food was not awesome. I kinda got discouraged and didn't take any photos. We found some of our food not exactly warm, over salted, or just meh. A special highlight for me was we ordered the fillet and I'm pretty sure it was blue with just the sear LITERALLY RAW. The cocktails were fine -they don't have espresso, but you can do a cold brew martini. Overall just not super awesome for the price. We also were sat in the back with children actually running around, YELLING. This was not worth navigating weekend Wrigleyville parking. I wouldn't come back to this location but may try the West Loop one in the future. read more

Cute corner spot right across from Wrigley Field. Food was excellent. Ordered the Tri tip hash and the flavors were incredible. Not too much sauce, crispy potatoes,flavorful and fresh. Didn't mind this place, is it the best in the area? Probably not, but service was great and they have a great happy hour deal! Came here for happy hour which is $4 beer, $6 glasses of wine, $8 seasonal cocktail. Oysters are $1.50/each. Great right? Happy hour special is from 4:30-6:30 BUT the happy hour specials are extended on Cubs home games which is dangerously good! It's Wrigleyville so it can get rowdy, but grabbing a drink here is definitely a little more high-end which is perfect. Appetizers are alright, heard mixed reviews on the calamari. We had the oysters and pretzels and lots of drinks! Pretzels were decent but nothing grand. Wish they had a little more shareable appetizers given it's a "tavern." After two years of eyeing Swift and Sons Tavern, I finally got to try it on Friday night. I've always been drawn to the vibe and was really excited to try it finally after years of just walking past, talking about it, and never going. My boyfriend and I decided to try it out for date night and will start by saying that the host, Johnny, was very welcoming, kind, and professional among arrival. We were a few minutes late and I called ahead and Johnny was more than kind with accommodating us being about 4-5 minutes late to our reservation and was just as kind when we made it to the restaurant (thank you, Johnny!)! To start off our meal, I got the Bad Blood cocktail to drink and we ordered the Pimento Cheese Dip to share. I went to school in Kentucky and am used to a lot of pimento food items and will admit I enjoyed this appetizer and thought the chile honey was a nice touch. I also enjoyed my cocktail as I typically am a "fruity cocktail" gal. For my meal, I ordered the Shaved Brussel Sprout salad and let me say, I do not think I received what I ordered. I received some type of salad with no brussel sprouts in sight and it contained some kind of spring blend of lettuce which I quite honestly am not a fan of. I didn't eat more than two bites as it was not good (in my opinion) and our server hardly came by throughout our meal for more than 10 seconds so I didn't even get a chance to let him know I thought I received the wrong item. To close out our meal, I ordered us shots at the bar (which was right by our table) because I was honestly a little frustrated with the dining experience and let me say, the bar tender was honestly phenomenal and I cannot say enough good things. I think his name was Chris if I remember correctly and honestly, between his service and personality, we would come back just for him/to sit at the bar. He was personable and fun and made our shots perfectly. To be honest, if it wasn't for the fabulous Chris, I don't think we would come back. The food wasn't anything special and our server honestly treated us like his absolute last priority for the whole two hours we were there which was extremely disappointing. As someone who has been in the service industry, I understand being busy or having a hard night but given my food wasn't what I ordered (or they just decided to give me the wrong kind of salad without asking me) and the fact that our server RARELY checked on us/would tell us he would come back and simply didn't, it was just not a good experience. I wish I could rate Swift and Sons Tavern better but sadly, I feel I would not be being honest with the experience I had. All that said, THANK YOU CHRIS AND JOHNNY FOR BEING AMAZING! What class act individuals who made the not so great experience 10x better and we will be looking forward to returning when Chris is working at the bar. read more

Our server was also very attentive, although maybe not completely knowledgeable of the menu. The bar itself is quite pretty and there are TVs scattered around, which makes sense for the Wrigleyville neighborhood. The food was hit or miss. The onion dip was delicious and the shrimp were nice and fresh, but the burger and steak were both overcooked and the chicken was a bit of a hot mess of a dish. I think it can be very tricky to take an upscale brand like Swift & Sons downscale like they are trying to so with this Tavern concept, as people's expectations of the name are always going to be elevated. It does bring a more upscale option to the Wrigleyville neighborhood, so that is nice. read more

We came for restaurant week and overall I'd say things were pretty average - good. We have been to the other Swift and Sons location so we were excited to try this one out! Inside is very welcoming and classy for Wrigley, and you can't beat its location if you're trying to go to Wrigley Field. We each got several dishes on the restaurant week menu including the Wisconsin cheese plate, French onion soup, duck rillettes, chicken breast, filet, butter cake, and grapefruit semifreddo. We also ordered a Mac and cheese side that never arrived but they easily took that off our bill. For the food the standout was the butter cake and Wisconsin cheese plate. Smaller portion size but very delicious! Our problem with the menu was that the portions felt a little inconsistent, and we saved up some room for entrees after quite a large second course, but the filet was the smallest portion of steak ever, which was really disappointing. I wouldn't be too upset about the inconsistent portions and good but not great food if the bill wasn't SO EXPENSIVE. I get this is a nicer restaurant, but we each had one drink along with our tasting menu and it was with tip over 100$ per person. For that price point I really would love more of a wow factor, and to not just have an okay meal. This isn't a restaurant I wouldn't try again, but I think for the ambiance, portions, price and value, and overall vibe I would recommend the Fulton Market location, which we've been to before and was absolutely impeccable! read more

Overall the experience was not pleasant. The fountain coke was flat and when we complained they didn't believe us. I asked for my NY steak to be medium/ rare I got medium / well very dry steak. Swift & Son's has a lot going for it and we really enjoyed our time there! The interior is beautiful and sunny, overlooking Wrigley Field and the associated people-watching. Staff was super friendly and helpful with recommendations. All of our drinks were incredible. The Smoke on the Water was the favorite at the table, while my Paloma ranks as one of the best I've had! On Saturdays there's even a table-side magician you can request ($) and he's an absolute blast! Danny was so friendly and SO talented. Our minds are still blown by some of his tricks. He amazed a couple tables while we were dining and he had almost the whole restaurant's attention. Unfortunately some of the food fell short of the rest of the 5 star worthy experience. My Fried Oyster Benedict was so disappointing. The dish desperately needed salt and the bed of spinach was clearly straight from a frozen bag. It was a so, so watery and flavorless. It was practically inedible until our waitress brought salt and pepper over. However, the rest of the table enjoyed their hash, shrimp po boy and biscuit and gravy (though she said the gravy was TOO salty?) I went here the night of a concert at Wrigley. The experience started off super weird as two of us got to the restaurant before the person who made the reservation. They refused to seat us until the person who made the reservation arrived (I guess neither of us looked like we were named Brian???) which I've never had happen before. Full party, yes. But is this place that 'hot' that people are stealing reservations? I somehow doubt it. When the other two people (and yes, the person who made the reservation was there), we stood there for, no joke, five minutes, while the host fiddled around with the seating plan and didn't say a word. Like I said, super weird. We were a party of four with a reservation and no weird requests. I was a little salty but the upper level seating is really nice and comfortable, plus it was a great place to hear the music. I ordered a Cosmopolitan and it was REALLY bad, almost tasted like it was made with sour mix, but I was determined to have a good time so I switched to wine and enjoyed some grilled oysters. Thankfully, the rest of the night went swimmingly and I'm glad I shook it off. The fried chicken was surprisingly excellent. I would probably say this is a 3.5 experience but I prefer to round up and, ultimately, I had a very fun time here. read more

As you see from my previous pre-COVID review this was my second visit here post-COVID with my family dinner reservation of 7 on a Sunday at 5pm. When we arrived we were immediately escorted via their elevator to their second floor to a table for 7. We had a nice view of Wrigley Field from our table. I enjoyed my two old fashions for $14 each. The four adults shared and enjoyed our 16 oysters including four peach trees for $3 each, four hama hamas for $3.50 each, four plymouth champagnes for $4 each, and four blue pools also for $4 each. They were great. I also enjoyed my perfectly cooked medium rare hanger steak frites for $28. Our server Nicholas served our table nicely. My total bill was $268 less gratuities. read more

S&S is a local favorite. Dressed up American classics with a touch of refinement. Highly recommend the pretzel to start (finally found a pretzel big enough to make a German blush). If you go for brunch, any item involving a biscuit will not disappoint (cheddar bay style biscuits). Bloody Mary's are topped with olive, cheese, jalapeño and the classic lemon and celery stalk (and is one of the best in Wrigley). read more

The menu seems to offer a lot, but when you really dive in, there isn't much going on. The prices are high for the quality you get. The food takes forever to come out even when the place is only a quarter full. The hangar steak is 6oz at best, not 8oz as described. Skip the dips on the appetizer as it is really disgusting and borderline inedible with a few stale chips for $14. I remember this place to be much better, but it keeps getting worse every time I come. Drinks are expensive with a small pour. The employees were nice. But the worst part, they charge a benefits surcharge of 4%, $3 to pay, and their recommended tip is 24%. This is wild. They literally want the customers to pay for food, employee benefits, credit card merchant fees, etc. I'm surprised they don't charge to sit down. HOW DO YOU CHARGE TO PAY?? WILD! read more

Came here with my fiancé for some happy hour and definitely got a lot of oysters! They had selected drinks for happy hour for a great price and I got a rose which was crisp and light. My fiancé's spicy margarita was delicious and had a kick as well. We ordered 12 oysters from happy hour and 12 chargrilled oysters. They came out pretty quickly and we're all extremely fresh and delicious! We also split the steak and provolone dip with fries which was tasty. The staff was very accommodating when some of us were a few minutes late for our reservation. We were seated upstairs and it was a little louder than I expected but it was right after a Cubs game so I'm sure some of the diners were still celebrating the Cubs win. It definitely has a different vibe than the West Loop version. Food was good. The spinach dip had a nice heat to it. I went with the Tavern Burger. It was a decent burger. All the components worked well. The fries were mediocre. I know it's a Wrigleyville restaurant but I expect a bit more from a Boka restaurant. Fancy up the fries, Boka! Swift and Sons has a prime location within Wrigleyville. The restaurant is spread out over 2 floors, and my friends and I got to sit upstairs near a window that overlooked Wrigley Field. This restaurant isn't as low key as some of the other restaurants/bars nearby (mostly sports bars), but you don't need to dress up to come here either. Our waiter was very nice and informative throughout our visit. We came during restaurant week, but I ended up ordering off the regular menu. I started with a glass of the Avissi prosecco and it was very good. The oysters I ordered were really fresh tasting and are something I recommend getting if you like raw oysters. For dinner, I had the crab and avocado salad. This was also good. I didn't order a large variety of items during my visit here, but I would be open to coming back to try more. read more
