I ordered the Cobb Salad. I must admit how skimpy the ingredients are. The bacon is probably a tablespoon. There's 1/4 of a hard boiled egg. Zero avocado. The chicken is a decent amount and tastes good but I'm disappointed in this salad.

My girlfriend and I had breakfast here a few days ago, just as the COVID restrictions were starting to ease up. There were only two other patrons present, so we had no difficulty finding a seat, despite the social distancing awkwardness. The food was solid--perfectly cooked eggs, crunchy bacon, well-seasoned potatoes, and some darn good biscuits and gravy. Service was fast and incredibly friendly. The only areas in need of improvement are seating and ventilation. The booths are harder than a rock, and patrons will find that they smile like they've been frying foods for hours after leaving.

Went back to try a hotdog with slaw. The hotdog, with sauce and onions is top 3 in WV. The slaw makes it a top 10-15 candidate. The slaw is tasteless and only brings down the hotdog. They need to get better slaw to put it back in the top 3 bracket

SO GOOD. I've lived in Charleston my entire life. Tried just about every restaurant there is and I can say with confidence that you will not be disappointed. Today was my first time visiting the Swiftwater Cafe and I will be sure to be back. The people were friendly. The food was beyond delicious. 10/10. Definitely recommend. read more

I'm new-ish to Yelp, haven't left many reviews. Stumbled across Swiftwater this morning. Needed good, fast, and cheap this morning. This spot hits all three, and I felt good about supporting a local crew. Got bacon egg and cheese on wheat, biggest coffee they got, water for the road. Staff is polite and looks you in the eye. I eat at Swiftwater multiple times a week because of their friendly staff, good food, and quick service. This is the place I go when I'm short on time and big on appetite. I easily can get in and out of there in a less than 10 minutes if I need hot food, and only a couple of minutes if I grab food from the cooler. Their daily specials are delicious and varied--including their juicy Big Ed Burger and Big BBQ Sandwich. Also, their BLT's have a whole lot of bacon (I mean 5 slices, you kidding me??) and two slices of juicy tomato. And, if I actually ate breakfast, I would eat there every morning--their breakfast menu is as unbeatable as a Jevon Carter full-court press. read more

In town for work and just stopped in based on yelp review! The place does not disappoint. Cute mom and pop type breakfast shop. I had big breakfast platter and food was hot, tasty and quick. The single star is when you show up 1 hour before closing. Your choices will only be what ever is pre madeand sitting in the refrigerator. I guess tomorrows' customers should say thank you for our eating of 'leftovers from the day' as they would be more likely to purchase FRESH MADE items when the shop reopens in the morning. Pricey lunch, staff were so disengaged chit chatting with themselves they forgot the cookies we purchased. I was only visiting the area, but need to question Yelp reviews if they are only from the locals who don't know good sandwich shops! read more

Swiftwater Cafe rocks! Its food is fantastic; owner and staff are good down home folks that run a great little business with way better food than large chains do! This is my favorite lunch spot in Charleston. I almost always grab a southwest chicken wrap from the case, but I will sometimes order chili, a barbecue, or the Italian sub. They do have crinkle fries, which I don't like, but other sides are available. The brownies are pretty great. read more

Hands down my favorite lunch spot in town. There is no replacement for fresh food made by great people. I've never had anything bad. The place is consistent, fast and friendly. It might not be the most creative menu, but it is by far the best in town because they care about the food they make, which makes everything better. I've eaten at after lunch place in Charleston and I would choose Swiftwater over them all read more

This is a quick lunch spot where you order at the counter and get a number. Food always comes out quickly. There are also ready to eat wraps, salads and sides in the cooler. Fountain and bottled drinks. All of the staff are extremely friendly. Lunch is $5-9 but fresh and always quick and correct. Everything I have had has been tasty. They also serve breakfast and have a couple soups of the day. There is seating inside and outside when it is nice. I prefer the hotdog special- 2 hotdogs with your choice of toppings, chips, and a drink for $6. All beef hotdogs and great chili! read more

I've eaten at Swiftwater twice now. The staff is very courteous and swift (pun intended). The cafe is smallish with a seating capacity of about 25-30. I've tried the hotdogs and the hamburger. Both were very run of the mill. The price is very reasonable for the hamburger (w/bacon and cheese) and fries I paid $6.88. The hamburger wasn't bad just nothing to write home about, the fries were atrocious, soggy and cold durring the lunch rush. Two hotdogs w/chili and a small drink with chips was approx $5. Again, nothing terribly wrong with the hotdogs, the chili was kind of sweet which doesn't appeal to me and I requested cheese and got a slice of american and would have expected cheddar. The drink which came with the hotdog "meal deal" was so small I thought the clerk was kidding when he handed me the cup!! All in all I don't think I'll be giving them a third chance. read more

I discovered this cafe through Yelp. I had the most wonderful, quick, and appropriately priced lunch ($6-8). I had their hickory pork BBQ with potato salad and it was the best in the city. The most exquisite lunch I've had in Charleston under $10. I'm so happy I've discovered this new lunch spot. read more

This is my favorite lunch spot when I want to grab a quick (swift!) bite alone. If I'm feeling gluttonous, I'll go for the hot dog special and if not, they make a good salad too. Occasionally they offer hamburgers. The owner and staff are super nice and I've never had a bad experience. It's not fancy, but it's fast and it's good. read more

I love the location and vibe of this place; however, the food was disappointing. The restaurant has that hole in the wall feel you want when you visit a new city and want something local. I've been working across the street from Swiftwater for six years, so this is my go-to place. Great cracked pepper turkey and swiss sandwich, great chef salad and Cobb salad. I love the big Ed burger with those delicious, slightly crunchy roasted potatoes too. I've had breakfast there too and it was really good. Biscuits and gravy, and bacon, egg and cheese biscuit, sausage biscuit; all were great. Prices at what you expect to pay downtown, but not unreasonable. This place is consistently very good every time. I've never had a bad experience there. Friendly and fast service. Give them a try! read more

First of all, I love the dedication to customer service from this place. Friendly and quick moving staff. I go in frequently for both breakfast and lunch. Can get in and out in minutes or sit down and enjoy the good food if I'm not in a rush. Lunch specials rotate and are creative however my favorite is the Wednesday and Friday Big Ed burger days and I always go for the seasoned red potatoes as my side. Delicious. Just seems like a generally well run establishment. I like that it's as local as it gets with a really cool owner that understands how to take care of customers. read more

I'm sorry but I didn't get my server's name but she was very nice and attentive and appeared to not mind being there . but overall I had a good experience and will return to try everything on the menu one order at a time.

I quickly said, "medium rare". I like my fair share of redness in my beef. After a considerable wait, it arrived along with the fries. One bite in the burger and it was VERY obvious, it wasn't medium rare. In fact, I don't believe it could have more well done without being charred. It was sooo dry and the flavor was nonexistent. The fries were pretty good. When the server came to ask about everything, I told her that it was far from medium rare. She then said, "oh, I forgot about that". All in all it was probably the worst investment I've ever gotten with $16.

I wanted to try something new and interesting and through my Yelp research I found this spot. It's located in downtown with metered street parking free Monday-Saturday nights after 6pm and all of Sunday. Luckily, we were able to find a spot easily. Inside was modern and relatively clean. We had to wait a little bit to be seated as they were pretty busy; however, this place had a decent amount of seating and space. Service was good overall, but it wasn't as consistent as I would've liked for actions such as water refills, asking for extra napkins, etc. This was partly because they were very busy that night. They have a variety of food options - apps, salads, sandwiches, pies (pizzas), and dessert. We ended up ordering a large pizza (thin crust) to split - half Thai and half Chicken Gouda. Both were yummy although the crust was a tad burnt - nothing bad to the extent that taking bites were an effort. Overall, I preferred the Thai since I've never come across a Thai style pizza and I could really taste the curry sauce. The only downside of the Thai was that the shrimp were slightly overcooked, which could be potentially explained by us ordering a pizza split in two styles with them cooking the entire pizza evenly versus what is needed for each ingredient. We finished the entire pizza between the two of us, but I could see someone having some leftovers. If possible, they might want to do some minor pest management. The entire time of our visit a fruit fly or gnat was hovering around us and the food. We tried to catch it and protect the food, only for it to ultimately take a permanent dip in my water. My overall assessment was that it was a good place to try in the city. It's not something I would crave, but I wouldn't mind coming back again if I was in the area.

Which had good flavors (as anything covered in cheese would) but if I'm paying $60 for a medium rare steak, it's a shame that it came out medium well. Service was good but the waitress was pretty pushy with the extras like we were insane for not ordering appetizers and not letting her bring us a glass of 4 roses. Ambiance was fine. But the experience was not worth my money, not even if it was half the cost honestly.

We ordered the New York steak and the Brussels sprouts special. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium, and the Brussels sprouts hit that ideal balance--crispy, flavorful, and just right. Everything we had was packed with flavor. The drinks didn't miss either--ice-cold beer and expertly crafted cocktails all around. If you find yourself in Charleston, this spot is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommend.

We reached out to Teddy to place a catering order for a lunch business meeting we had in WV (our Company is from NH). During the ordering process, he was very accommodating to our requests and very responsive when we needed to get a hold of him. He showed up with his Son to deliver our catering order and our team thought they were amazing! They delivered the food to the building and were right on time. This is my first time in Charleston, WV. My husband and I checked out Swiftwater Cafe from a recommendation on Yelp. It was a quaint little cafe with a good selection of deli, sandwiches, soups & salads. The sign said Best In Town for the Hotdogs and got curious. They were amazing! The slaw texture was great and worked well with the chili. Everything on that Hotdog complemented each other. I also tried the Cracked Pepper Turkey Sandwich and it did not disappoint. Service is also quick and though the line keeps getting long, the crew is prepared and can keep up. read more
