For being a chain, their massaman curry is delish. And I've eaten a lot of massaman, albeit the Americanized version. But hey, if anyone wants to buy me a plane ticket to Bangkok I'll be able to eat real Thai curry and make more accurate comparisons...I'm just sayin' :) After their massaman curry with brown rice and sticky rice with mangoes for dessert, my life is complete. The curry has plenty of potatoes and chicken and carrots and a lovely taste. Massuman is my favorite type of curry and I order it pretty much everywhere I go. This is one of the best I've had. And the sticky rice with mangoes - OMFG I could eat it three times a day. It's just rice and mangoes with (I think) coconut milk to pour over and too, too good. This is bad. Swing Thai is right by my work, and even though I have TONS of food in the fridge (E is gone for the week and my mother is convinced I'll starve if she doesn't give me enough food to feed an army), I just might stop there on the way home. First off, I really wish I could give this place a 3.5 stars. Swing Thai can be depended on for some solid pad thai and a HARDCORE thai iced tea. I have been going here since 2001. It was an interesting turn when they started the "waiter" service a few years ago. It used to be not unlike Noodles & Co., where they just brought you out the food after you ordered in the front. The waiter service really adds nothing to your experience aside from that tip at the end of the night. Aside from the pad thai and thai iced tea, I also like the veggie spring roll. My husband and I usually just order 1 (they cut a big one in half), and split the plate for a small appetizer bite with some tasty peanut sauce that comes with it. The patio area is about 4 feet from Colorado Boulevard (you'll see when you enter the restaurant), so I wouldn't eat outside during any kind of heavy traffic unless you want to breathe in some fumes. People totally complain about the parking situation, but I appreciate that they have a dedicated parking lot, unlike "street parking only" that some closer-to-downtown restaurants are limited to. Just be careful if the lot is packed---it can easily become grand central station, and the majority of the public never quite remember that people backing out of a spot legally have to YIELD to the cars driving through the lot. read more

Ummm.. so I don't remember exactly what I had, but it was the item with shiitake mushrooms and snap peas in the title. I thought it was flavorful, very filling, and reasonably priced. I came here with my boyfriend, who had the Pud Thai.. wow, that was actually really good. We are gonna come here again, and probably often, I think it's one of those places that you are suppose to try everything on the menu... at least once. Lastly, I opted for the Thai Iced Tea to drink. Swing Thai is a lot like Noodles & Co. The main difference being that Swing Thai has table service and Noodles & Co does the order at the counter thing. Noodles & Co is also priced about right for what they are and Swing Thai is a bit overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it's still a fairly inexpensive place to get a meal, but the food is not as good as I think it should be for the price. My main complaint with Swing Thai is that it is difficult to eat their food. Plates are overflowing, spring rolls are overstuffed, that sort of thing. So every time you try to get a forkful/chopstickful of food, it just kind of goes everywhere. Maybe some would find overflowing plates of food a good thing but it makes me feel sloppy and gross. Also, some of the dishes sort of taste all the same. The Pad See U tastes nearly identical to the Drunken Noodles - and that's not a good thing. One thing I do really like here is that when you order something with veggies instead of meat, it's a good selection of veggies. A lot of places rely on celery, carrots, bean sprouts, and call it a day. At Swing Thai though, the veggies are bountiful and very tasty. Swing Thai is hands-down my favorite Thai destination! Yesterday was my first visit to the location on Colorado Boulevard. We arrived later afternoon and there was only one other group dining at the time. We had our choice of seating and received swift service from the friendly wait staff. Our order was fresh and ready within minutes and delicious! We both had the Pad Thai with Beef and my daughter enjoyed the Crab and Cream Cheese Wontons. Our dishes were well-presented and tasted consistently amazing just as I'd experienced at previous visits to other locations. My daughter said she loved it and would definitely dine there again. Oh Swing Thai, how I love you. I can't believe people aren't raving about this place! For what it is (cheaper, fast Thai food) I think Swing Thai can't be beat! I live about a block away, and go to Swing Thai often. The wait staff are always friendly, and the service is quick. I usually split the coconut lemongrass soup with someone, and then have the Pud See U for my entree, which is delicious. Thinking about it is making my mouth water right now. The noodles are perfect, the sauce is delicious, the bok choy is cooked but still crispy. I always ask for it extra-spicy, and unlike most places I've been to, Swing Thai really serves it up extra spicy! And I don't know why people are saying the portions are small...I can never finish my entree! How much are these people eating?? Pretty much I'd say Swing Thai is the perfect place for a low-key, delicious weekday meal. They also have carry-out and delivery if you live in the area. What's not to love? read more

Sorry Melanie S., but Swing Thai is definitely NOT like Noodles & Co. It's some of the best Thai I have ever had -- and I grew up in the Bay Area! Oh my goodness, this shit is delicious. You can really taste that there are like, 20 different components to the broth that they then put into their soup with like, 20 more components. This place takes care when they are making food. I've had lots of things on their menu and decided to spring for the nightly special last week, I think it was called ka soy. Egg noodles with some pickled vegetables and chicken in a coconut broth. YUM! The pickled taste cut through the richness of the coconut just right. The chicken was perfectly tender -- it had been simmered in the broth. And on top of all that I made two meals out of it because I got so much. I like this location a lot -- I've been to their two other locations downtown and on Tennyson -- this one isn't as romantic as downtown, but it's beautifully decorated, bigger and airier than the Tennyson location. read more

3 stars = Price high for Thai food, Portions were small and food was mediocre. 3 Years ago I used to love Swing Thai. Food was great, service was good, and you could get a good meal for around $12. In the past three years portions and quality have gone down. I ordered take out last week and got my usual chicken and shrimp pud thai and decided to try something new..Satay Chicken (which I love from other places) and a drink came to $19. I don't mind spending $20 on take out but its insulting that the portion on the Satay chicken is tiny 4 pieces of chicken the size of AA batteries on skewers (they were good not great and seriously but not worth the $5.50 ... the pud thai has lost its luster and was okay. We came here as a group of 6 on Saturday. I ordered the drunken noodles (medium) and my husband ordered the pad thai (hot). When my order came, the dish was so pale, it was extremely unappetizing. My husband wouldn't even try a bite. In terms of spice factor...wow. We were completely underwhelmed. I've had spicier pad thai at Pei Wei than my husbands "hot", so that's saying something...sadly. Because of this, I can't say I have the most to offer because I simply love their Pad Thai that much. There's a few strong points and a few weak points... The decor is gorgeous. Its the most lovely, albiet americanized, but beutiful decor in a thai place that I've ever seen. The temp inside was awful. Think Thai jungle, and then you will understand. The thai tea is the best I've ever had. Its not too sweet and it was very fresh and well brewed. The service was very nice, prompt and the server treated me in a way that I've come to accept from tradition thai service. There is a certain respect and demeanor that comes with real thai service. At first I thought it was demeaning to the servers, but as I've come to learn more about thai culture and have close friends who lived there, I've learned that anything less is just unacceptable. I appreciate the servers upholding traditional thai values towards their guests here. Ok the food... I ordered the mussuman curry. Its my fave thai dish and they just so happened to have it today and its not on the everyday menu. The potatoes are HUGE and cut with a special tool that gives them a beautiful shape and design and they really grab the sauce. The sauce was very rich and tasty. It could have used more coconut milk, but its so far the best I've found in denver. The chicken was terrible. It was all dark meat and was chewy and gross. I took one bite, spit it out and picked thru the rest, praying for white meat. Alas there was none, so I cast all the chicken aside. they seem to put peanuts in a lot of thai food here in denver. Peanuts are traditional thai ingredients, but not in everuthing. Still they added a nice flavor, texture, and protein since the chicken was useless. This is a decent Thai place. Parking (via side lot) is usually not a problem. Food is good, portions are on the smaller side. I would give this place a solid three stars, but service is great every time we go, so I bumped up to four stars. Servers are attentive and very polite. Downside? I'd like to see a bigger menu and better descriptions WITH pictures. On two occasions I ended up with a meal I didn't really want, i.e. a soup when I thought I was ordering noodles and vice versa. I don't really care if it's not "authentic" (although I suspect about 3/4 of the people who say it's not have never been to Thailand anyway), everything we had at Swing Thai tasted good, and that's what counts in my book. My mom warned me that the coconut lemongrass soup was a whole meal by itself, but I didn't believe her, so I got the fried vegetable rolls. They were a little bit burned on the very ends, but the sauce was great. We also ordered fried rice, which even my "no fried food ever" mom ate and enjoyed. The portion was a little small but enough for 3 of us to have a reasonable amount. My coconut lemongrass soup, though. Ahmahgah. I got it with tofu, noodles, and veggies, and I had enough leftover for easily one more meal (that I'm eating right now, actually). My fiance hates coconut, and was totally offended by the flavor, so you know it was good and coconut-y. The tofu was well cooked, the vegetables weren't so cooked that they were soggy, and the noodles were, you know, noodly. The medium was a little closer to mild but it had a little kick. Today, it's more like very saucy noodles than soup. I love saucy noodles. The Thai Iced Tea was just meh and the Thai Martini was friggin delicious, which is weird because I don't even LIKE Red Bull. Apparently I'm a sucker for lychee liqueur. Also, our server was polite to the point of it almost being uncomfortable. Like, I felt bad asking him for things because I just wanted to invite him to sit down with us and relax for a second. My assistant and I were urged by a friend to go to Swing Thai in our attempts to find something to meet the dairy free needs of the day. Having never tried Thai food before, I think this was great success. I guess it's a more Americanized version, but was worth a shot. All the staff were very friendly, especially our server, who always kept our drinks full and left with a smile and a bow. We both had the Pad Thai with chicken, my assistant ordering it hot and I medium. It was a delicious and decent amount of spice that cleared our sinuses well enough, that's for sure. We got our food very quickly, still steaming. You could tell the ingredients were fresh. At first it didn't look like they gave us large portions, but half way through I was so full (not the so full, then feel starving half an hour later full either). My girlfriend and I stopped here about a week ago for a quick dinner. We both had Pad Thai- i had shrimp and she had the veggie- along with some appetizers. She enjoyed the spring rolls while I loved the crab/cream cheese Rangoon. They came with a sauce that added just a perfect amount of flavor to add to the Rangoon. It's not the normal sweet and sour type sauce, however. The Pad Thai was excellent and plenty of food to leave you full; possibly leave with some extra. The only negative I had for my pad Thai was the shrimp. The tips of the tails were left on the shrimp so it felt like I was eating the inedible shell every couple of bites. read more

So, Swing Thai is NOT where you go to enjoy the pad Thai your Thai granny used to make. The dish has some nice flavors, but it has been significantly sweetened and otherwise adjusted to appeal to the American palate. That being said, it's not half bad and it arrives at the table promptly. The green papaya salad is a lighter summery offering (also a little sweet for my taste)... just be sure to watch out for the peppers if you're heat sensitive. One major upside for celiacs and vegetarians is that their menu has all items clearly marked to address your concerns which is the main reason I keep coming back. I feel like the food here used to be better (and the locale seemed busier) 5 years ago, but it's still ok food at an ok price in a location that can get the food to your table surprisingly quickly. Those who refer to this restaurant as fast-food Thai are pretty on the mark and sometimes that's exactly what you want. If you're looking for upscale Thai fusion cuisine, you'll have to look somewhere else... and you'll probably have to pay a lot more than the $10-12 per plate they charge at Swing Thai. When balancing the pros and cons here I'd call it a 'Thai' but am still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt ;) read more

I was really surprised at the multiple poor reviews for this place. I am a fanatic for a good pud Thai, and this is the best place I've found in Denver for it. To be fair, I've only ever ordered the drunken noodles and the pud Thai, but every time the hubby and I eat here, we couldn't be more pleased. The noodles are always perfectly done, and while the pud Thai could never in a million years be considered diet food, it's flavors are always fantastic. While it is a little pricier than some other Thai places I've been to, it's always worth it. The service is excellent most of the time, I think I've only ever had one time that it took more than ten minutes to get served, and then the place was totally packed. I guess the best advice is if you go to Swing Thai, order either the pud Thai or the drunken noodles. They are absolutely fantastic. read more

My husband and I used to live in Denver and Swing Thai was our favorite thai place we liked to get. We are visiting our family and friends here from DC so we decided to get food here once again while we have the chance. I usually got swing special and drunken noodle which were my favorite. But this time I decided to get Pad Thai instead and I loved it! The flavor was so so incredibly good. I also love their service. People here are really friendly and nice. Tried Swing Thai for the first time since choosing the Vegan lifestyle and Swing Thai had good options for my partner (who is also Vegan) and I. We ordered 'pick up' which can be a slightly unsettling situation when you have food allergies and need to make sure your specifications are "heard". The staff at Swing Thai nailed it! I had Swing Thai prior to becoming Vegan (and loved it), but my partner had not. He loved it too! The food was delicious, the spices, the flavor...it was the perfect dinner we were looking for! This is a new favorite! A different thai place that we sometimes go to is always a pain to order from - they never answer the phone, odd hours, and it just never seems to "work" how it should. This place was a breeze, the phone ordering process was smooth and the girl on the phone was super nice. The food is DELICIOUS. We got the Thai BBQ chicken (delicious. authentic tasting.), Pad Thai - also delicious - I love that it's gluten free. I got a side of veggies to supplement the Pad Thai and it is a great combo. I also ordered the jungle curry and that is also great. Comes spicy but its yummy! The medium Pad Thai was a perfect amount of spicy. Had dinner after the spending whole day in Rocky mountain state park. The restaurant has a cute bar at the entrance. Friends and I took the booth. We ordered for pork dumplings, masaman curry, green curry and pad Thai. None of us were disappointed. The food was good and the portions were perfect. The server came to our table more than once to ask for extra rice, sauces and drinks. The service was good too. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The main reasons: excellent service and a gluten free selection. We were immediately seated upon arriving, had a waitress come by within a minute with water for the table. We got our food quickly and it was all correct. I drink a lot of water so I usually end up with an empty glass fairly quickly however the waitress was on top of keeping our glasses full (a small thing but really great!). I had the basic pad Thai with medium spicey-ness. I thought it was a little mild for medium but still good. The atmosphere was very modern and overall interesting to look at. I noticed a fair amount of people picking up take out orders too. Pricing was reasonable, esp since I ordered shrimp as the meat for my pad Thai (though I would of liked more shrimp in there overall). Will be back! read more
