Bad Food Bad Service The general consensus, they don't give a s**t. The temperature inside was freezing it must have been close to 50 degrees. My date has an allergy to eggs, she told this to the waiter and ordered, vegetarian (spicy) Pad Tie with no egg. She had to send it back TWO TIMES when the cook finally figured it out he made it mild. Both of our meals were under cooked. The vegetables were cold and raw. That's not the waiters fault; but he was a slacker. We were his only table. He didn't even bother to walk to our table and tossed our food over the banister. He ignored us we didn't have silverware and had to flag him down for water and drinks. For desert we ordered the mango and sticky rice. It tasted great; but imagine trying to cut a slippery mango with a soup spoon. I couldn't get his attention and finally got up to fetch two forks for myself. The pad thai here is leagues better than the other restaurants that deliver to me, and delivery was faster, friendlier, and more competent. However, the portions are much smaller, the curry was too spicy for me to eat, and the delivery guy must have smoked heavily because he and the air inside my bag smelled like an ashtray. Actually, for a chain the food was actually decent, but the customer service was a little lacking. My tale of woe began when I stopped here on a Monday night for a quick "to go" order. This ain't the worst and it ain't the best. The waiter service was very attentive and fast. The interior is calming and comfortable. The food tasted fresh and was prepared very quickly. My complaints are: 1) Vegetables and meat are oddly cut and WAY too big for the ridiculously tiny plate that my food came piled atop. Seriously, everything need to be cut in order to be bite-sized. As it was presented, without cutting, I am pretty sure I would have resembled a cow chewing cud trying to get the meat and veg into my mouth and down my throat. 2) The plates for the noodle dishes are way too small. I've driven by this place a dozen times but never stopped. They are close to the new Trader Joe's. There is a parking lot, but it was full so I parked on the street. They have a limited menu. I ordered Massaman Curry. It had 2 chunks of potatoes and a handful of peanuts. The server/bartender was attentive. Swing Thai is a special place in my heart. I go there solely for the food. The service, if you dine in, is suitable, but nothing special. The atmosphere is relaxed, but I am cold every time I sit in the dining room. I have tried several things on the menu. There has been nothing I hated. I stand by the spicy jungle curry, pad Thai and Swing Special. All three dishes are amazing. The lemongrass soup is special, too. Swing in for takeout and enjoy these amazing flavors at home. We were accused of breaking the candle center piece. The waitress demanded we pay for the center piece and pay in CASH. I'll make sure to let all my friends I know not to waste their money here. We asked to speak to management. They have no management on-site. An employee said that the could not contact either the owner or management because they don't like to be bothered. They asked us to call a phone # and leave a message. I did get a call back on Monday. He never apologized and said that it is standard to charge customers if they accidentally break the center piece. This is not authentic Thai food... but it is still very tasty food. it's sweet, spicy and tasty.,.. not quite "Thai" .. the noodles and curries are sweet and rich... the vegetables are often wrong or substituted for some local American variety... but one of the better tasting Asian-esque renditions you can find in Colorado. Ended up here with some co-workers after trying to go to Tommy's Thai first (it was closed for the holidays!). Feeling a bit dejected, we headed here instead. It smelled wonderful from the moment I walked in. I got my usual thai standard: Chicken Pad Thai, "thai hot". I can usually decide based on how good this dish is how the rest of the food will be. If the pad thai is bad, I usually do not come back. Well, the pad thai was delicious. It was a bit on the sweet side, but still yummy regardless. The thai hot was almost too hot for me though, my nose was running like crazy and I kept taking gulps of water between bites which probably made things worse. I will come back, but now know just to stick to the regular "hot" level. Not as good as Tommy Thai's though, and if I am already in the area I will probably go there instead, but this place is pretty good also. Edit to add: I went back a second time, and the food was not nearly as great this time around. They skimped on the servings and I felt cheated for what I paid for. The food isn't awful, which affords it the "A-OK" star rating, but it's expensive, the staff is entitled, and the portions are tiny. The Good & Bad Rundown: + good pad thai, but not great; i appreciate the texture of the noodles, the balance of the sauce, but still sweet + nice modern decor + clean - pricey (i.e. i paid 12 bucks, they prob made 10 bucks profit) - small, small, small portions - flavor profile: balanced but sweet; substitution of American ingredients for Thai ingredients; lack of depth from missing flavors/ingredients Ultimately, Swing Thai has a serious price and portion imbalance that their flavor quality cannot adequately withstand. The service here is very courteous and truly gracious, unfortunately the food is just average. My green curry tofu was a little sweet - too sweet. My date ordered the jungle curry with beef, and it was hot, but not in a good way. I like to take different sauces and smother my rice, and neither of these sauces made my rice(which was gooey) any better. If the service hadn't been so great I would never have reason to come back here - I probably won't anyway, but I will reiterate that the service made this place special. read more

I have been here a few times, for both lunch and dinner. Perhaps I have been spoiled by other thai restaurants and their hefty portions, but Swing Thai is the exception. For the prices they charge, I would expect to get a plate of pad thai large enough to share, but it's barely enough for me! That being said, the flavors of the food are delicious. It just pains me to leave a place without being totally full/satisfied, and paying more than what I think is fair. This place is great and was exactly what I was looking for that day I was there last week. I had Drunken Noodles and it was fantastic! They have real Thai people working there and they were just as polite and friendly as could be. I never knew why that dish was called Drunken Noodles, I thought it was just an American made name since we do that a lot. I asked my waiter and he explained it to me. If you go there, ask them about it. It's pretty interesting. I also had a chicken spring roll with peanut sauce. The spring roll was huge which was great by me. Excellent authentic Thai! At the waiter's suggestion I ordered "dark curry" with tofu - and it was delicious! I've been to Thailand and the food at 95% of the Thai places I've been don't come close to the deliciousness and complexity of flavors of the food I had in Thailand. Most Thai restaurants drown everything in coconut milk - and call it "authentic". It's really just salty, bland, and coconut milky. The dish I here had at Swing Thai has layers of flavors - different spices, seasonings and heat - the beans were still crunchy (!) and the tofu firm and flavorful. I loved it. Can't vouch for any other dishes but I expect that the team in the kitchen that created my excellent curry knows what they're doing and the rest of the menu will be excellent, too. During a stay at Rose Hospital (as a visitor), I decided it would be best to venture out and get something other than Hospital food - Thai sounded great. I called in my order and the guy at the other end sounded like he could have cared less about my order - imagine a stoned sounded twenty something.... Anyway, I ordered Coconut Soup, Panang Curry, and Mango Sticky Rice. All were exactly the description listed on Yelp for 2-stars - "Meh - I've experienced better." Could not put it any better. Pretty tasty thai food. Went here for lunch with my girlfriend on a Tuesday. The decor inside is excellent, not too flashy or hokey, but tastefully done (imo). Ordered the 'pud thai' set to 'thai hot' and got exactly what I was hoping for. Enough zing to bring a bead of sweat to the forehead without making it look like you were crying. My girlfriend got the 'swing special' which is a stir fry dish and it too was delicious! The prices are reasonable, at $8.50 and $8.95 each. I have been eating here since I was 8 years old and the food and service keeps me coming back. It has vegetarian options for my mom, vegan options for her friend and great may for me. It's one advantage is it's open on Monday's when most Thai places (or at least the great ones) are closed. The pad Thai is okay, not the best but probably better than delivery. The Tom Kha is also okay, had some heat and hit the requirements for a decent Tom Kha. The biggest negative is the service. We found it on the slow side and on the unfriendly side. The waitress poured water in our ice teas and was overall pretty forgetful. Honestly it's probably better than a delivery option but there are better Thai options in Denver. read more
