Great and efficient breakfast experience. The place has clean vibes all around. No gross sticky surfaces here! Coffee bar/options are solid and well executed. When ordering a red eye they brought the single shot of espresso in the coffee cup and topped it off with the coffee from the carafe right in front of us. Good move to make sure we got exactly what we ordered. The coffee was topped off often and when we were leaving, they were more than happy to bring us a to go cup. The menu options are vast - you name a breakfast food, they got it. The food came out very quickly and was well prepared. Good flavors all around. I tried the eggs Benedict with bacon, arugula and avocado. Well executed! The portion of breakfast potatoes was enough for 3 meals (and savored all 3 times). The waitstaff was on point. Yes to Syrup in St. Charles! Gathered here as a family for the first time to celebrate my moms birthday. Haven't been here since it was the old Colonial back in the day. The renovation is absolutely beautiful and gives a bright, airy dining experience. All the orders were incredible portion sizes and good tasting. The staff was super friendly and very on top of checking in on us making sure we had everything we needed. The menu has a lot of variety but there isn't clearly "build your own" anything. My friends are some picky eaters and wanted to customize their own skillet and omelet. Also, it's on the pricey side for brunch places. We were able to do some simple plus/minus ingredients without additional charges so that is a win. I got the butcher which is a 5 egg omelet. Yes, FIVE EGGS. It is huge. It was good but the cheese was hidden far inside. Like a 3rd way in before I hit any. They could have been more generous on the cheese considering the size of the omelet. They do not have hash browns. Just potatoes. Didn't care for them. Not crispy or particularly flavorful. Pancakes were alright. They come dusted in powdered sugar, which they do warn you about on the menu. Apparently, I am not a fan on that either. We held up the table longer than expected waiting for a friend who flaked. Our server, VJ, was very nice and gave us a lot of time to peruse the menu. I settled on the Crabby Cake Benedict. I'm glad we decided to get there early at 8am because there was no wait list but it was already starting to get busy. There were SO many options on the menu (it was almost overwhelming), and they even had some boozy drink options. We decided to go for some coffee and juice, all of which were quite tasty. Our food arrived quickly and was perfectly proportioned. In fact, it was almost a little large despite getting the smaller plate sizes, so I'm sure the larger plate sizes would be huge! Everything was delicious and tasted fresh! After our meal, we were able to hang around for a little even though the restaurant was getting busy. I've been to Syrup in Algonquin with my mother, but recently discovered a more convenient location for me off Randall Rd in St. Charles. I enjoyed my second Syrup experience even more than my first! This time I had brunch with a good friend and let me tell you We were both impressed with not only the portion size here, but the quality as well. Everything we tasted was top notch. To drink we sipped a Maldon Sea Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate that was AMAZING! We also tried the Mango Habenero Limeade! Wow! My friend talked me into trying it and I was blown away by the sweet-tart-spicy-sweet-again experience that was this joyful limeade. We ordered a few items to share and each of them were soooo good! I loved the HUGE portion of biscuits and gravy... there was plenty of savory sausage and there was more than enough gravy for the 2 large biscuits that come in an order. I'm pretty picky when it comes to my gravy and this definitely hit the spot. The breakfast potatoes that accompany several of the menu items are ok. The good news is that you can tell they are fresh not frozen. The lack of uniformity of potatoes is a giveaway that they are chopping them by hand in the kitchen and not pulling them out if a freezer bag. Maybe the biggest surprise was the Crabby Cake Benedict. I enjoyed the tender-sweet crab meat coated in a crispy fried panko crust served over fresh greens. No soggy breadcrumbs here. The eggs were poached to perfection and topped with just the right amount of hollandaise sauce. I would definitely order it again.
