I recently enjoyed a wonderful meal there after five months of strict healthy eating. I had been cautious about flavorful food because of health concerns, including three strokes. When a friend invited me to lunch, I first said I would go to Angie's for a salad. She kindly offered to ask the chef to go easy on the salt and soy sauce, which put me at ease. The food turned out to be fantastic. Every bite felt like a treat after my long stretch of simple meals. The flavors were bold and satisfying, and I loved everything. The service was just as good. The owner walked around the dining area serving tea to guests, which gave the meal a warm, personal feel. His friendly manner made the experience even better. I'm already planning my next visit to try their dumplings. This was the best lunch I've had in five months. My friend covered the bill, so I don't have a receipt to share. read more

Their food is fresh, flavorful, not overly greasy and they will accommodate most of your requests when ordering delivery -can get varying spicy levels, etc. Staff is friendly. My family & I came here for an early dinner. We ordered the dumplings with spicy chili oil, juicy pork dumplings, crab puffs, salt & pepper calamari, pork garlic & chili oil, Mongolian beef, chicken fried rice & general tso chicken. We were the only guest in the restaurant so service was nice and quick. The server was really friendly. The crab puffs didn't have crab in it, it was just cream Cheese but they were cooked perfectly. The general tso chicken wasn't as crispy as we'd liked but it was still good. All the other dishes were good. Definitely cured my Szechuan cravings so that we didn't have to drive another 45 mins to Mesa or Temp area. read more

Not many patrons inside when I walked little past 8 pm. It was on my way back to the hotel from the conference center. The soft shell crabs ( one of chef's specialties) I ordered was supposed to be spicy but I did not feel any kick. Too much battering and the flavor was just okay. My Girlfriend wanted to try this place as we live nearby So we both ordered what we thought would be good. My girlfriend got the Orange peel chicken, and... it tastes like a Chicken Mcnugget. Very bizzare and not really like orange chicken. I ordered General Tso's chicken and... It was pretty bland. It yas mushrooms and and Bell peppers and had more flavor than the chicken. We also got the Chicken Chow fun, Which was admittedly good, however; my girlfriend found it to be extremely greasy and couldn't eat too much. Their lunch special is offer every day of the week for $9.98 - $10.98 is very filling. It comes with soup, choice of rice, crab puff and an egg roll. I'm docking a star because their xiao long bao are consistently bad. They're always oversteamed and stuck to the paper, there's no Chianiiang vinegar or even a soup spoon. Szechuan Cuisine is awesome for Chinese. Feels like a hole in a wall spot, the dining area feels casual and the service is prompt and cordial. They have a lunch menu that comes with soup and an egg roll which is wonderful. I recommend coming then if you want to save a bit but we get a few dishes and share them and it's spectacular. The flavors are great and the portions sizes are good. Overall a really great experience and definitely one of my go-to Chinese spots over in our area. I recommend it! read more

I've been in to eat once pre-covid and ordered pick up the last night. We ordered the following for pick up. Everything was pipping hot when we got home. Pot stickers - def seemed pre packaged . Cooked well. Sauce was bland. Egg roll- my husband ate these and said they were good. Spicy dumplings with chili oil - used the same dumplings as the potsticker. Just with chili sauce. And solidly NOT spicy. House pan fried crispy noodles - pretty good but the shrimp was a little off. Chongqing Spicy Chicken Special- fantastic but def not spicy. Salt and pepper pork chops - great! But also not spicy. Orange peel chicken- my son liked this a lot. General Taos chicken - husband did not like. And no one else ate it. Lemon chicken. - everyone liked this but thought it was a bit in the sweeter side for their preference. Their Asian American food is subpar IMO while their more authentic food is pretty good for the west side. When they say spicy it is def not spicy. I found that other reviews of their authentic Chinese food stand to be accurate. Service was fast and friendly and you can't help but support this local mom and pop shop. They have been here forever. Szechuan cuisine has amazing food. Everything we have had from here is packed with flavor. The place is clean and family owned. The dumplings, shrimp with vegetables and the star of the show is always their spicy chicken wings!! They are crunchy and I don't know what they flavor them with but it's AMAZING! They are served with chilies and chunks of garlic.. it's all eaten! I was intrigued to go somewhere new. This restaurant doesn't really present well upon arrival, i.e, ZERO curb appeal. Undaunted by aforementioned curb appeal, I walked in and was eagerly greeted by an employee guarding the cash register. This soft-spoken gentleman allowed me to choose my seat, which was pretty easy since he and I were the only people in the place, sans the kitchen cooks. The menu was abundant, and I quickly descended upon a spicy favorite: General Tso Chicken and a frosty beeeeeeer. (Insert Homer Simpson voice) My meal arrived within mear minutes... like 4 or 5 minutes. Oh my... either crazy fast or crazy pre-prepared. Oh well, I dumped my rice bowl on the plate and scooped my General Tso over the rice. I was half expecting freezer burned chicken fresh from the microwave however, I was pleasantly surprised by how it tasted. It may have been previously prepared, but probably not because it tasted much better than expected. Halfway thru the meal, the soft-spoken guy asked if I would like more rice (more rice??) Heck yeah!! Like Flash, he reappeared before I realized he left and left another cup of rice for me, the hungry stranger. I dumped the rice over the remaining main course, planning on taking it home for tomorrow (yeah, right), and before I knew it, that too was gone. Stopped by here on our way out. We were so hungry. This place is a strip mall restaurant. It's very clean looking. And large. The portions are smaller than many similar places. The prices are very comparable. Our meal started off with egg drop soup. It was absolutely delicious. My companion had the lemon chicken with white rice. They were happy with their selection. The egg roll had a smoky taste. It didn't seem to affect much. I chose the sweet and sour chicken. The chicken itself was good and as expected but the rice and peppers were definitely off. The rice tasted burnt and had a smoky type of taste almost chemical like. The peppers were bitter and chemical tasting. Not pleasant. To the credit of the restaurant they did exchange the rice when I brought it to their attention. I didn't say anything about the peppers since I had already eaten the 2 pieces I'd been served. Anything the rice or peppers had touched wasn't very good at all. I picked through my meal and ended up not eating it. The gentleman serving was very attentive. Service was quick. In my review a year ago, I said we would come back after things returned to normal from COVID. Well, things aren't back to normal quite yet, but we're getting there. Szechuan Cuisine is a low key, family run operation. It isn't a high end, white table cloth place. What it is and excels at, is delicious Szechuan inspired food, made by loving hands, who have made the same family recipes for years. Yum. Expect to pay $10 to $15 each and a few dollars more Tsingtao beer or soda, sorry no plum wine or mixed drinks. Lots of photos to help you make up your mind. Don't let the strip mall, average Chinese restaurant look fool you. This place makes some unique and high quality food. The chongqing chicken is a special dry chill style of breading on the chicken. This is a great dish and the only other place I've been able to get it is at Han Dynasty in NYC! Happy I was able to find a place in AZ. The Dan Dan noodles are also a big favorite of mine here! This place is a hidden gem and worth trying. You can tell they put a lot of love into their dishes. On a Sunday afternoon stopped by for take out. It's a nice quiet restaurant in a small shopping center. Took a chance and it was good. The food was definitely cooked fresh for us. Took about 20mins or so. Ordered enough to share. The portions were ample and the to go packaging was great, no spills. The flavor overall was good. Nothing a little extra soy sauce couldn't fix (for me). The broccoli in garlic was delicious. The wonton soup was surprisingly hot and tasty. The lamb skewers surprised us with the red pepper flakes. We ordered takeout, it was piping hot, the containers were heavy, the pricing was comparable, the taste was okay, a little on the bland side, cream puffs tasted sour and not in a good way, I had one bite. Just moved here in this week. I was looking for Sichuan restaurant and then this place shows up. Very good taste with relatively cheap price. Lunch special seems to be good and cheap too. On a recent visit, the food prep time was fast (as it should have been due to very few Customers), though the server moved at a snail's pace. The beef in the Beef with Snow Peas was good, although slightly grizzly. The Onion Pancake was a bit greasy and had no hint of onion flavor. The Chinese Green (Bok Choy in Garlic Sauce) was mostly "stalk" and minimal in "leafy" greens. The Pork Juicy Dumplings fell apart and much of the "juice" (soup) ended up at the bottom of the steamer. No chopsticks were provided. The price point was good. Your order will never be right, even if you repeat yourself. I don't know why they keep this same server, but it's truly a joke. Ordered 'salt & pepper prawns NO HEADS', (because the menu specifies). My husband even repeated it when he brought water to the table and, per usual, it came with heads. Took it back and they just took the heads off and reserved it. With shrimp that sticks to the shell. Crappy shrimp, too. It's no wonder that the 4 times we've tried to give them another chance there's never been more than 2 filled tables. Good luck. read more

There appears to be a dirth of authentic Chinese restaurants in the Phoenix area so it was nice to come upon this unpretentious spot. Fairly authentic Szechuan cuisine with spartan decor in a non-descript strip mall. While the servings were not large, the prices were very reasonable, so the value was there. Having eaten at all the major Chinatowns, and Hong Kong and China, while this place wasn't the best Szechuan I've had, it did justice to this style of Chinese cooking with adequate amount of spice and flavor. As good as it gets for being in AZ. Service was super-friendly. They have a Chinese-American menu AND a authentic Szechuan menu so ask to see both. The best dish we had was the water-boiled style beef dish with plenty of spice and meat. Typically, we've had this type of dish with fish (tilapia), but this item did not disappoint. Definitely order off the Szechuan menu unless your palate is timid. Looking for Chinese food with a lil' bit of spice? With good value, no extra charge for rice. We ordered water boiled style beef, spicy dumpling and dan dan noodles. The best dish was the water boiled style beef. It also came with a small bowl of rice each for us. That was very nice. The beef was tender and the sauce was very flavorful and went well with the rice. The dan dan noodle was very wet with spicy sauce that is not very spicy. The noodle should have been white and not yellow. Weird. The spicy dumpling was also drenched in spicy sauce. Again it was not very spicy but the sauce worked better for the dumplings than the dan dan. All in all, it was nice to eat some authentic Chinese food in Phoenix. read more

Came in during lunch. Their lunch specials are not only budget friendly but you get a lot of food for the bank. Start out with a slaw salad which had remarkable flavor. Got my go to appetizer which are crab puffs. Could have had a bit more crab but nice crisp taste. Main course was garlic chicken with steamed rice and an egg roll. The way the flavors combine to make it seem like a happy carnival in your mouth is a pure delight. This Chinese Restaurant is different and offers American Favorites and also a White Menu of Szechuan Cuisine. It's not a fancy restaurant but has a grade "A" from Maricopa Health Inspections. I've been here FOUR TIMES and had a variety of different experiences here.....My first two visits were outstanding. Must get dishes for us were the Casserole and the Spicy Chicken noodle off the white menu. These visits were FIVE STARS****** For my third visit we let the owner pick for us. He served me Jalapeño Chicken and My husband a plate of duck that was not horrible but a little dry. This visit was THREE STARS******** For my recent fourth visit we ordered off the White Menu (Chinese Menu) we shared Onion Pancakes, Spicy Sour Cabbage and the Kung Pao Chicken (again white menu was expecting authentic style) I will say the Spicy Sour Cabbage was very good and it was made with Szechwan Peppercorns. The Kung Pao Chicken was in a sweet sauce and lacked Szechwan Peppercorns. It also wasn't terribly spicy. It was nothing like an authentic style Kung Pao I had someplace else. The owner wasn't there and nobody asked me how things were or I would have told someone..... You can get 5 star food if they feel like serving it to you... Communication can be a problem here. This is still one of the best Chinese Restaurants on the west side but it not perfect. 3.5 stars rounded up because I did have some excellent dishes here. read more

There are two menus and I highly recommend anyone looking for more authentic Chinese food to order off the shorter double sided white menu. I loved the Sichuan "water boil style" fish (水煮鱼). The spicy cold beef was also a huge hit! The XLB (xiao long bao or "pork juicy dumplings" on the menu) were good but not particularly remarkable - I would get if I were majorly craving heavenly Shanghai soup dumplings though. We ordered the lamb skewers (okay), egg rolls (good), shrimp pan fried crisp noodles (good but small serving), Chongqing spicy chicken special (okay, needed chili oil and veggies), Sizzling rice shrimp (okay), Beijing garlic chicken (good but very skimpy on the brocoli). Also ordered Mu Shu chicken to take home; haven't tasted it yet. Agree with another reviewer that the dishes were not as large as other Chinese restaurants.
