First time trying this spot and I really liked the food! I ordered the Szechuan Chicken, Orange Chicken and Fried Dumplings. The Szechuan Chicken was BOMB! I asked them to make it a little bit more spicy then the usual and they accommodated for sure. I have a hang up with the Orange Chicken tho it was good with flavor but I needed it to have more glaze and the only main issue I had was the grilled orange peels that were added blended in so well with the pieces of chicken that I had full bites of complete orange peel. It was a little confusing from the outside as the signage was in Chinese only. We stopped by before a middle school play performance and we really were not prepared for the portions. We had egg rolls, mu shu pork, cucumbers in spicy sauce and shrimp in black bean sauce. The shrimps were large, flavorful and just perfectly cooked. There was just so much food! Ordered the spicy tofu w minced pork, hot and sour soup, crispy chicken in spicy garlic sauce, garlic egg plant, and the house chow mein. The crispy chicken in spicy garlic sauce and house chow mein were both excellent!! So good actually we came back for seconds the following week. Our two kids loved the noodles so we will for sure be going back. I would definitely order the crispy chicken in spicy garlic sauce (not too spicy - almost like an orange chicken with hints of garlic and spice), house chow mein which comes with a variety of protein (beef, chicken, fish, shrimp) and the eggplant In garlic sauce was great too. This is a hidden gem behind the 99 plaza. It is one of the classic no frills Chinese places that have minimal decor. You're not coming here for the ambiance but for a good family meal. The service is a bit staggered and you might take some time to get someone's attention that you want to order. It could be better but Chinese restaurants are rarely known for customer service- be patient and have questions ready on what you want to order. This is a Szechuan cuisine restaurant but they have other dishes as well. I don't eat a lot of spice but some other family members do. We got a couple dishes with a bit of heat but I could enjoy it with rice to balance it out. The fish was mixed with a spiced gravy but it was not overpowering. The Dan Dan mien noodles had the peppercorn kick and the sauce sinks to the bottom so you need to mix it all up to even the flavor. The green onion pancake was a stand out for such a small appetizer. It impressed us cause it was so finely crispy and crunchy with the green onions blended inside with a bit of chew on the middle. Usually it can be too crunchy or too chewy. The cured pork belly with leek dish was so flavorful. It is on the saltier side but it is meant to be and eaten with rice. With the leeks and other vegetables it has just enough of the rich balance. The prices here are on the best we have seen for the value and quality of the food. You would pay 20-40% more in Bellevue for the same dish and quantity. The bok choy was literally better than Hakkasan. Guess I don't need to pay $100+ anymore haha. Seriously, stop what you're doing and come here. This is a classic Sichuan (Szechuan is Americanized and no one in China will know what you're saying) dish. It's wonderfully flavored with all the subtle spices of that region. I know the number of dried chilis looks intimidating but that's a bit more for color than heat. It is crispy, tasty, and very filling. Add a veggie side dish and some rice and you easily have dinner for two or three. I've ordered it twice and both times great. First of all I can't eat garlic or onions and they were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions. I always appreciate any restaurant that will work around my issues. The restaurant is small and in a small and tucked-away shopping center. It does a very good business inside and take out. Anyway, back to the food... It was delicious! We got an order of potstickers (10 per order which is alot but well, we ate them all), I got egg drop soup (I didn't see just one bowl of wonton soup which is usually what I order) and I got pork fried rice. My husband got hot & sour soup, his go-to-soup at Chinese restaurants. He said it was delicious! And his order of pork with bean curd was the best he has had. Ever. I have to agree, cheaper is not always better I order from here and Christmas because I'm by myself and yes I ordered that much for just myself. Now the steam dumplings I think is what saved it they were really good I really enjoyed them you definitely need the dipping sauce with it but otherwise it was very tasty. And I'm sorry but if you mess up rice, like, you just shouldn't be a business. The rice was good and normal, thank goodness. All in all it was just OK, overpriced honestly, definitely super oily. Good numbing spiciness...without a ton of whole peppercorns that might take away from the experience when chewed. Love the quantity of this place... it's about half a container more than other places (combined)...originally I thought the second container was rice but was pleasantly surprised when it was the fish. It seemed to lack the amount of cabbage that I've had another places but I'm not really complaining about that since the fish is really the star.
