The woman that greeted us when we came in, was extremely friendly and struck up a conversation with my wife who is also Chinese. Cantonese food is always a treat and I ordered the beef chow fun. It took about 15 minutes, but was worth the way. Delicious fresh noodles, and a nice generous portion. The beef was thinly sliced and not overcooked. My wife shared the portion and we both remarked how good it was. Plenty of parking and they are in the same parking lot as the former big lots and Papa Murphy's pizza. Solid place. What we call old school Chinese although honestly I don't really know what that means except it reminds us of the Chinese restaurants we went to when we were growing up in California. Tons of items on the menu, many of them what you find at Chinese restaurants all over the U.S. We ordered chicken chow mein, shrimp and BBQ pork fried rice, eggplant with vegetables, and prawns and vegetables. The food was cheaper than our area, and the containers were just packed. The food wasn't too greasy or heavy. Tons of vegetables which we loved. Very satisfying meal. My friend told me about this place near our fave foot massage location. She's Chinese, and knows how picky I am when it comes to Chinese. I will travel to San Francisco or Richmond BC just to get good Chinese food. But sometimes there's places that will be sufficient enough as long as it's tasty. This place is a little more Americanized for the customers they serve, but all in all they have good flavors. First time we took food home, the past couple of times we dined in. When you see a lot of Chinese patrons, large group even, then you know it had to be good. The menu had the typical fare what Americans usually order. We tried both, the set menu, and a la carte. The set menu really was too Americanized for our taste, but the other dishes had great flavor once you order a la carte. Service was adequate. They've got the spinning wheel in the middle of the table, so you can share all the dishes with your group. A couple things about reviews bother me. With Mexican Restaurants, people often say, "This is the best Mexican I've had north of Southern California". With Chinese Restaurant, people say, "This is the best Chinese food outside of Chinatown". I will start by saying, this is not the best Chinese food outside of Chinatown, nor is it the best Chinese food in the area. Sans Wok Express is better, but they shot themselves in the foot during covid. They shut down the dining room and became takeout only. Although Chinese food is the ultimate togo cuisine, I like my items fresh out the woks and anything deep friends becomes steamed when you get it to go. This place changed ownership, about 3 years ago, I've been here about 3 times since and I'm sure I reviewed this places, but I assume someone complained about the review to have it removed. On multiple occasions, I ordered Potstickers, and was told they didn't have any. In all of those cases, I came in for lunch, so maybe they only serve them for dinner, but it's on the menu, so I expect to be able to order it. There has also been way too much confusion. People coming in for pick up and their order is delayed, or no one attending to the register. One guys wife was on face time, yelling at the host because their take out order was 15 minutes behind schedule. Last night we came in at 7:30. There was a table available, but it was dirty. It took the person 15 minutes to clear the table, because every time, someone wanted to pay their bill or get a water refill, he stopped clearing to serve them. How about you assume we are customers, you take 3 minutes to clear the table and seat us. Once cleared, he asked us to take a seat, and the seats were wet, because of the wet cloth he used to wipe everything down, he didn't even take time to dry the seats. Since we had already waited 15 minutes to sit, we had reviewed the menu, so we ordered right away. Our server took our order, and then began clearing other tables, before putting our order in. 1 minutes later, he grabbed our ticket and brought it to the kitchen. It's now, 7:55. At 8:05, mind you they close at 8:30. We asked if we could have our soup and he said, "I don't know". This was the first time soup didn't come right out. These guys really don't know what they are doing. Soup came out at 8:15 and out food at 8:25. We went with combo meals. Hot and Sour, was just sour, no chicken stock flavor. BBQ Pork was tender, but lacked flavor. The Chow Mein was actually the star, even though it should not have been and the Almond Chicken was crisp, but the gravy had no flavor. Service was slow and regrettable and the food was not flavorful, I don't see a need to return, they just can't get it right here. read more

Tried this place today, I got wonton soup and special fried rice that had pork chicken and beef. Both were delicious! Sad the fried rice didn't have peas or carrots in it though. So didn't look amazing color-wise but it did have excellent flavor. The server was nice and attentive and the price was really decent! I would definitely come back here! I wish I could give a good review but the service was so very bad and they were rude and they gave us a glass of water and never asked for a refill. I was watching other tables with big loud parties getting all their food before I did even if I came earlier. I waited one hour for soup and two plates and another hour for another two plates. Also they took fifteen to thirty minutes for them to take my order and I had to ask them to take my order. After I left without tipping, the manager ran outside and asked for a ten dollar tip. I would give this place negative stars if possible! They have poor service, it takes longer than an hour just to get soup for my family of 7. Then, after our meal, the manager runs up to us asking for a $10 tip when they never even refilled our water. They also were focused on other families that just got into the restaurant. This restaurant is a gem in Renton's Fairwood neighborhood. Come here for delicious, authentic Chinese food! My mom even comes up from Pierce County just for this restaurant - and y'all know how hard it can be to impress a Chinese mama. Tonight we ordered the mapo tofu, a fish and fried tofu dish, the garlic eggplant, and the Mongolian beef (not pictured bc we ate it too fast). Everything was stand out! My favorite was probably the fish and tofu dish that came out sizzling, but it's honestly hard to pick a favorite. If you like eggplant, seriously don't skip out on the eggplant! They of course also have the standard orange chicken and such. They also have an awesome lunch combo with those American-Chinese options that we sometimes get too. It's also very good. Sit down service comes with free tea. Unless you're getting a combo, you do have to order rice separately with entrees. Service is basic but very fast - our drinks were never empty. Highly recommend eating family style so you can try more dishes! I don't bother reviewing places often but really love the food at this place. Five stars for sure. read more

Wild Garlic has become one of my favorite restaurants. This is one of very few places in the Greater Seattle area where I can get authentic Cantonese dishes. The restaurant is quite small but I love it because I think we get more personalized service that way. When it is busy, the kitchen may be a bit slow but quality is never compromised so I have no problem even if I have to wait a bit once in a while. I really appreciate the consistent quality dishes produced by them. Unlike many other Chinese restaurants, Wild Garlic does not have a tank for live seafood. Patrons can bring their own live seafood, and have their kitchen prepare your favorite seafood dishes at a nominal fee. I have not been disappointed thus far. I was looking for a new Chinese place after I discovered mine had closed. I came across this one while I was in the Renton area and thought I would give it a try. Well, I am glad I did. Their food is very good and authentic tasting and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. I first tried the egg drop soup, and the mongolian beef. Both of them were very flavorful and delicious. I would like the mongolian beef to be extra spicy next time I order it. We shared the potstickers which had the perfect pan fried crunch and the sauce that comes with is good. We also shared chicken and shrimp fried rice, I picked the chicken out because it had a weird look and taste. But the shrimp and rice were good.
