Tri-R Heating should receive zero stars for their unscrupulous behavior…read more Last week, my wife smelled gas in our home. Peoples Gas came out and detected a leak in the on/off valve in the gas supply to the furnace. The valve was removed, the pipe capped, and we contacted the heating company. We inherited Tri-R from previous owners, and have used them several times for heating maintenance each year. What we did not know, was that the owner of Tri-R passed away recently, and another company took over the business. On their inspection, we were informed that the pressure valve would need to be replaced (they claim a $500 part!) and the total for the work would be $800. And, also, that the main pump motor was not working. When we indicated that the pressure valve was new within two years and they had installed it, was when we were informed that the work was provided by the previous company (under the same name). Additionally, there was NO paperwork, NO records, NO warranties on their work. I objected that we were not informed of this transfer of business, and they would not warranty previous work. One of the three burly workmen suggested that if I wasn't satisfied with their prior work (annual inspection), he suggested I could "go f*&! yourself." My wife, who was present, tried to calm the situation, and was told she was a "mother- f*&!er" and could "go f*&! yourself," too. Even more incredulous of their behavior, was that when we called the main office to complain of this abuse and swearing at their customers, we were told "my crew would never do that, my husband wouldn't lie to me." No matter what we tried to describe about the situation, the owner's wife would interrupt and deny. After several chilly evenings, we got a reliable contactor to replace the gas valve, reconnect the furnace to the gas line, and drain the overflow tank (which Tri-R neglected to do on their annual inspection, and claimed that was the reason for needing a new pressure valve). The $500 part? Working fine. The main motor pump? Humming along, with never a problem. Total cost? $250. If you're in Chicago, NEVER call Tri-R Heating, unless you enjoy being deceived. The previous owner was honorable in his service, and must be rolling in his grave.

As I sit here reading some of the negative comments regarding services that were performed by RCM,…read moreI feel compelled to post my experience that I have had for the last 7 years with this company. Not only has RCM maintained my furnace and a/c unit on several occasions , they did a full installation of a new unit. I should have listened to Chris from the start when she suggested to replace my furnace on the first service call they made. At the time money was tight and I just needed the temporary fix (bandaid) to keep it running. They answered every call no matter what time it was, they were there! Even after making the suggestion of a new unit. I have never in any of my dealings with not only Chris but the field personnel as well ever had anything negative to say about anyone at RCM. My experience with them has been A++ and nothing less than great! I must add one other note. My 22 year old son bought a house this past year and unbeknownst to him his furnace was going in and out during the winter months. Keep in mind they had just had a baby boy so there was a newborn in the house. My son called me at 2am to tell me that the furnace went out and it was dropping below 50° in the house. I rushed over with heaters to get the temperature up and called Chris at the wee morning hours . Not sure exactly the time but it was before normal working hours for anyone. She cared for that newborn like she was part of our family and I will never forget that! She had a service member from her team over at his house in less than an hour and repaired the furnace. So excuse me in advance when I say this, RCM is a normal business that is here to perform a service and in return make money. When I hear false comments like some of the previous posts that are so FALSE AND SO FAR FROM THE TRUTH! This is one of the best companies that i have ever dealt with regarding home improvement or services. Because you dont get anything for free and dont get your way doesn't mean to jump on social media and slander someone's service that by all means dont deserve. You cannot put a price on the service that these people give! Thank you to RCM for not only having great service but having quality products at a competitive price!

As a maintenance manager for over 100 stores across the states, this company is one of the most…read moreunprofessional vendors I've worked with. Briefly put, we agreed on $350 diagnostics fee for 2 units and everything that might be needed in excess will be called in for approval before proceeding. In addition to before and after pictures to be taken + a manager's signoff. A few hours later I called the office and was told that the technician has left site and the total cost was $545 for resetting a breaker and replacing a couple of fuses. (Only got 3 pictures that are of no benefit and no signoff was obtained) I offered to pay $400 because the amount they requested wasn't approved and the their answer was that we either pay the full amount or they'd return to the store and uninstall the fuses. Definitely not a company that I would recommend and of course this is our last time we work with such unprofessional money-hungry people.

Stay away from this business! My entire cooling and heating system was left in an inoperable state…read more I called for a diagnostic of the air conditioner today because cool air isn't coming from the vents. I was told the diagnostic would cost $149. I asked to be informed of any repairs that had to be done. Technician checked the system and recommended replacing unit. We discussed replacement unit and cost. I was ready to pay deposit. In the next 10 minutes I was told that the model I selected is old and not available. New model costs $1000 more. I asked for a proposal to decide later. Technician told me that the visit costs $396. He said that he fixed air conditioner that was not working. He never told me that he is fixing anything. Through our the visit it looked like he was figuring out the problem. I talked to the owner and we agreed that any repairs that were done will be undone so that I do not have to pay for repairs. Then the technician removed all the wires from the board making both heat and fan unusable. He did not just undo the "repairs", but made entire system unusable including fan and heat which were working before his visit. See the photos to show what was done!

Reply to 2 reactions from Harmonic on my 1 star review…read more 1. A. & K. claimed A. fixed my heater Tuesday; lie. Bad customer service. Harmonic deserves 1 star, but all the starts below 5 are NOT indicated on the Google graphic of the numbers of review stars 1-4: false. 2. I never promised a review pull-down for a discount. My husband & I have better things to do than having an "agenda" as Harmonic accused. My husband was on a business trip. 3. I never called for an emergency repair. I did not switch from repair to cleaning & maintenance. I asked A. if C & M was possible afterward, unaware of 2 more with no heat. Harmonic called me "selfish" for this. 4. Any possibility A. and K. have unconscious biases towards people like me? They accused us of "manipulating" what? To save a few hundred bucks, while we spent in the tens of thousands at Harmonic's better former (aquired) company) you imagined up? 5. How could Harmonic accuse me of lying about my pain. Because I was able to and had to carry my 10 lb dog for a short moment because of her barkin? Why do I even have to explain my chronic severe back pain and mostly failed back surgeries and weak immune system? 6. I had no "agenda," but getting my heate fixed. I am not playing any "game" as accused. I am standing up for myself. 7. K.'s statistics on the number of my Goole reviews are false. 8. A. & K. are the ones who were "aggressive, harsh, unethical, disrespectful, and manipulative." Stop projecting and gaslighting. I wish I would remember to record conversations when I am alone with a person like A. Why did K pull down his absurd replies on Google?
