I had scheduled a full set of acrylics at 1 pm and I am a regular customer for the last few years, however this time I didn't have the best quality service. I was asked what shape I would like and told the nail tech "almond" and showed her a picture to which she responded the picture doesn't match what you want, because I asked for the nails to be less pointy than the picture. She then told me that "You change your mind too much, I don't have time for you to be like this." She cut my skin while filing my nail and when I went to pay asked for $60, when it is explicitly says on their website and in the nail salon that a full set is $45. That is without tip included, I was told that I will be charged $55 when asked why the service was going to be so high. This was not one of my better experiences with T and T. read more

While visiting Truckee from the bay area I called T&T to ask about the precautions they were taking for COVID to determine if I felt safe going in for a pedicure. The woman gave me information and offered me a slot where no one else would be in the salon. I opted to go the next morning knowing there would be other patrons. I was pleasantly surprised when Jenny took me to the chair she had reserved for me to guarantee I had ample space near the open door. She took my temperature then showed me the sterilized implementations she would be using, It was clear to me she had recognized my cautious attitude and went above and beyond to make sure I felt safe. I expressed to her that my priority was getting my severely overgrown cuticles cleaned up. She took her time nipping, trimming, and shaping my nails. I was originally planning on skipping the massage since I wanted to limit my exposure but she had put me at ease and I'm glad I didn't because she gave a great massage! My toes were the envy of my girlfriends at a social distance picnic the following weekend. If you're visiting and looking for a safe and responsible place to get a pedi I highly recommend Jenny at T&T. This salon isn't clean and I don't think they use the proper cleaning protocols on their tools. The nail tech that gave me a pedicure definitely over cut my cuticles and now 2 days later, I have what looks to be an infection happening on my big toe. I believe she knew that she had cut too far because she kept spraying my feet with alcohol, which burned in other places too (probably because she filed to far down as well. I'm not sure why this salon gets a 4 star. I wish I would have done my due diligence and checked the place out before booking. Very disappointed in my experience here, the nail technician did not do a proper French nail dip set, she did a dip base and then put gel nail tips on the top and they had attitude while applying them. Then they were already chipping the same day I got them, it was not worth the $50 and I have been upset about it since! WOW, where do I start!! I moved to Truckee almost a year ago & it's always hard to find new places to go but NOT for T&T Nails. First of all they are extremely welcoming, polite, the salon is clean which is BIG for me. In the last 24 hours Truckee has been hit with a large snow storm, the owner of T&T Nails called me yesterday (on a Sunday) to see if I can come in then cause the following day weather will be worse. This morning the owner called me again to tell me that they are taking longer on highway I-80 & can I come in a little bit later. Of course I can!! Had a rough day I needed my feet done. I made an appointment but unfortunately I ended up having to stay at work longer than I wanted and I was late... For my appointment but You would never have known it by the generous, kind and thoughtful way I was treated when I walked in... Yung, the Owner, Was welcoming... and would not even let me apologize... She was so kind and made me feel like I was an old friend... She did my feet and quickly went over my hands even though I did not ask her to... She blew me away... My wife and I came in the day before our wedding to get gel manicures and pedicures. The whole experience was uncomfortable and disappointing. We felt that there were far too many people in the salon to comply with COVID regulations (between 15 and 20 people in a very small building) and the technicians kept telling more customers to come in over the phone. A few of the technicians were not keeping their masks over their noses, which made us nervous. We were also uncomfortable with the fact that our technicians were going in between customers without washing their hands. This is not sanitary or safe with the current pandemic. Our nails also are not holding up very well at all. Two of my nails are already peeling and it hasn't even been a full week. In the past, I have been able to go 2+ weeks with a gel manicure. read more

Just got a mani pedi for my upcoming wedding. The people working were so sweet and patient while it took me 10 minutes to decide on a color. I loved the mini massage and hot stones. Called this morning and was able to get in today with the girls. I haven't gotten my nails done in forever and had no clue what I wanted. But when we got there they helped us and were extremely nice and understood my lack of knowledge on nails. They had a huge array of colors to choose from. The nice lady does not know how to do a full leg wax. The wax was not the right temperature so it did not go on smoothly, going on very sticky which hurts. She does not know the leg positions to make the skin taut, or to hold down the skin to make it tight, and so she frequently did not pull up the material successfully. That hurts very much. And it cuts the hairs, rather than pulling them. She tried to do only the front and back of the leg and only 2/3 high. I had to push her to do the sides and the full leg. Then I had to push her to fix missed patches (it is very dark in there). Now, in the light, I can see she still missed a lot which I need to fix. At the end, before I could even pay, she demanded a tip. Very unprofessional. Will not go back. read more

3 stars here is pretty generous for this place but I felt that it was more than just 2. The pedicures here are ok. Small salon. Lots of nail polish colors to choose from. 6 pedicure chairs that are just ok but do have massage features. Basic pedicure was basic and I feel like it was a little pricey compared to our prices down in the Valley...BUT that just might be how things are here in Truckee. My gal massaged my legs amazingly. Out of the 5 of us there, my pedi was ok. One gal got her cuticle nicked and all her nails are different lengths and shapes; one had to give lots of direction on her pedi; one took forever on her mani; and one had an aggressive cleaning under her toe nail that made her jump and say owwww! My favorite place to go! I even drive from Tahoe City because they are the best! I massage chairs and extra long foot rubs are well worth the drive and they do such a good job! I took my whole bridal party and soon to be mother-in-law here before my wedding and they were able to accommodate a large crowd easily! Today I got my nails done by Gold and he did an amazing job! I hate to post negative reviews but I'm pretty bummed out that I have these nails. I have given this place 3 chances and all 3 times I have left so disappointed. This time was the last. My nails are very uneven, the acrylic doesn't go back close enough to the cuticle so they look like they're already grown out and they are not at all what I wanted. I asked for a design on my nails and my nail tech asked what color I wanted instead. I though they meant for the base, but after applying that they said I was done and didn't even do the design. :( pretty bummed out about this because I don't want this to feel like a waste of money but it 100% was! I have friends who like this salon so I'd say give it a try but don't be surprised if they don't come out great. read more

The ladies working here were very nice and accommodating to squeeze in four of us same day for a little birthday pampering. I wish I could say it was a great service but unfortunately I felt very rushed and not a lot of attention was taken with my nails. Understand with shut downs, limited capacity and such they are trying to make up business but it would also be nice to not feel like I'm being rushed out the door with chipped nails one day later for the $ spent. I have had a lot of good manicures here in the past but my manicure this time was bad. The technician was overly aggressive with pushing back my cuticles and with the nippers and painfully cut right into the skin. She then used an obviously well used and too rough of a file on the area and my other nails. She continued to used the nippers after I told her several times to stop. My finger was painful and throbbing throughout the night and now into the next day. I'm continuing to disinfect it. T&T does have good nail technicians but you never know who you will get when you come for an appointment. They need to ensure all the techs are qualified and follow state guidelines, like not reusing files between customers. After this experience I'm not confident to return. I am writing this only in the hopes this doesn't happen to another customer. read more
