    Jalapeño burger with bacon.
    Carly W.

Seeking to try more of the dinning options in Wellington, I chose Avuncular Bob's T-Bar Inn for several meals recently and was pleasantly surprised with how tasty they were! PROs: ++ Their menu features a variety of tasty eats to satisfy any diner! I've had both the Jalapeño Burger and the Breakfast Burrito. While I preferred the burger - both hit the spot! ++ The kitchen knows how to cook one helluva burger. My medium is always perfectly on point. ++ The staff is always super friendly. My to go pick-up have been very pleasant! ++ There's ample parking both on the street outside and in the designated lot to the west of the restaurant. ++ Inside has a homey, small town mid-western diner feeling - and I really dig it. One of these days I'll have time to dine in! CONs: -- With a substitution charge to swap my french fries for onion rings, I'd hope to get a few more than 5 onion rings. Especially, because damn they're good! Can we at least raise that number to 7 - k, thanks! -- When I pay to add bacon to my burger I'd hope that they ensure it is added to my burger. Even though there's a couple cons I've experienced grabbing a meal at Avuncular Bob's, I'd still say it's worthy of returning. #wheninwellington **Pro Tip: Breakfast is served until 12pm and dinner starts at 4pm. You can't order breakfast or lunch online - so if you want to order ahead give 'em a call. Also, for those wondering like me, avuncular refers to the uncle on your mother's side of the family. Now you know!

What a nice surprise for two weary travelers! We were on a cross country journey and stopped in for a break from driving more than anything. Our hostess/waitress couldn't have been more welcoming! Our service was fast and with a smile. She seemed to be the only person waiting tables but gave everyone great attention. Our food arrived just as described on the menu. The place has a "hometown" feel. For the folks who live nearby, we think you are lucky!

Food was great! The homemade thousand island is so good! Loved the fish sandwich, and my friend said their green chili shoppers was good! Great service and awesome atmosphere. Great little oasis in the middle of nowhere.

We got the chicken pot pie, quarter rotisserie chicken, and salmon quinoa cakes. Rotisserie chicken is a must order! Very juicy and delicious. Salmon quinoa cake came with a large portion of salad and was pretty good. Chicken pot pie was the best I ever had. The cornbread croutons are very delicious. Also, the service was very good!

Eh. Over recent years, I've had very hit and miss experiences at the downtown Austin's. Yesterday…read morewas another disappointing miss. We stopped in for a late lunch, arriving around 2. We started with a beer for my husband and a mocktail for me. The mocktail (blueberry lemonade) was simply not worth the $7 price tag. Mostly ice - filled to the literal rim of the glass. So full when I took one of my first sips, ice fell to the floor. There was just a splash of ginger beer; it could've used more but, alas, no room with all that ice! When I mentioned it to the server, she explained that's how they make them. She offered to bring me another, but it seemed clear she meant I'd be paying for it. No thank you. Next, my food. I tried the salmon burger (new to the menu, I'm told) which is actually a salmon croquette on a bun with some lettuce and vinaigrette. It's HUGE and not in a good way. The first few bites were okay, and I thought the heavily breaded effect was due to biting into the edge. As I continued eating, though, most bites felt like a mouthful of bread. I can only hope there was minced salmon in it, but the ratio was so heavy on breadcrumbs that I couldn't detect it. Not the slightest hint of pink on the inside either. I ate about 1/2, my hungry hub finished it. The flaws of the salmon burger didn't seem worth pointing out to the server after the response I got with the drink. Later, as we walked around downtown, I felt like I had a lead sandwich in my stomach. My husband had a better experience than I. His bison burger came out great. No complaints. Unfortunately for me, I think I'll just have to order very specific things when coming here now. Austin's has sentimental value for me - it's the first place we dined after moving here 27 years ago. Because of that, I keep giving them second chances after they fall short. I just wish they'd return to the days of "you can't go wrong", everything is awesome.

Love this place and will be thinking about it on our next trip through town. Wow! What a vibe!…read more Things were picking up by the time we got there for lunch. We were greeted by a really nice blonde girl that showed us our seats. She was down to earth and was just beaming with great vibes. Then we got Matt. As if the experience wasn't already great from hanging out with friends, Matt invited us with an amount of aloha that is only found in Hawaii! We ordered chips and onion dip. The ramekin that the onion dip came with was really small compared to the amount of chips we received. It was delicious! Maybe substitute toasted bread next time? I ordered the poke and that was outstanding! It came with a creamy ginger dip that tied things together. For being landlocked and in the mountains, this is a dish I will remember! Matt also brought out a Hong Kong sriacha that definitely elevated everything. The reggae (music), positive vibes, and down to earth feel was a great way to end our trip before getting back to the grind. What a place!
