Tucked away in the tiny burg of Wellington, Colorado, just south of the Wyoming border, Bob's is a terrific place to grab a simple, yet super tasty, breakfast, lunch or dinner, surrounded by rustic American farm decor and original 1800's hand tools on all the walls. And, with a full bar, you can just belly-up and feel like stepping back to a more simple time in America when we had far fewer frills and nonsense. I had breakfast at the T-Bar today which I was really looking forward to. I ordered a half order of biscuits & gravy which comes with hash browns and added 2 over medium eggs. My eggs were barely cooked over easy when they should have been medium. The worst thing were the biscuits & gravy. I don't know when they were made however they were dry and hard, inedible. The gravy had no flavor & did nothing to soften the biscuits. My friend ordered a French toast mini breakfast which she said was ok. There aren't many breakfast choices in Wellington and it's really sad when the only option is so disappointing! read more

Solid American, morning, noon and night for what... 80 years? All good and tasty, esp the breakfast. Great specials daily and the cowboy fave prime rib night every Saturday. My experience since 1990 is a friendly, fun and tolerant good ole boy place. You can't lose money here unless all you consume is alcohol. Dancing is popular on weekends. If Broncos or Rockies or Nuggets are winning, they do game banquets near and during the playoffs. Super Bowls, etc., are big events and much of town may show up to cheer. Many Harley riders stop here for lunch on cross country rides, esp those on the way to Sturgis Rally. Recent changes in management, we hope, will not much change the ambiance. We have this a try but not impressed. The service was slow, the biscuits and gravy was not good at all. The gravy seemed to be made with water which had no taste, the sausage was very limited and also no taste. Hashbrowns looked like they were cooked on an unclean grill. Seeking to try more of the dinning options in Wellington, I chose Avuncular Bob's T-Bar Inn for several meals recently and was pleasantly surprised with how tasty they were! PROs: ++ Their menu features a variety of tasty eats to satisfy any diner! I've had both the Jalapeño Burger and the Breakfast Burrito. While I preferred the burger - both hit the spot! ++ The kitchen knows how to cook one helluva burger. My medium is always perfectly on point. ++ The staff is always super friendly. My to go pick-up have been very pleasant! ++ There's ample parking both on the street outside and in the designated lot to the west of the restaurant. ++ Inside has a homey, small town mid-western diner feeling - and I really dig it. One of these days I'll have time to dine in! CONs: -- With a substitution charge to swap my french fries for onion rings, I'd hope to get a few more than 5 onion rings. Especially, because damn they're good! Can we at least raise that number to 7 - k, thanks! -- When I pay to add bacon to my burger I'd hope that they ensure it is added to my burger. What a nice surprise for two weary travelers! We were on a cross country journey and stopped in for a break from driving more than anything. Our hostess/waitress couldn't have been more welcoming! Our service was fast and with a smile. She seemed to be the only person waiting tables but gave everyone great attention. Our food arrived just as described on the menu. Came here for lunch because it was close to the hotel. The interior looks like something out of the 70's. But hey, it's not dirty, just old. The waiter was attentive. They were busy but not packed so it worked out well for us. The food was ok. Mine was on the salty side but I grew up in a house where salt wasn't used much because of my dad's health. My younger one loved the Mac and cheese bites. I was disappointed they don't serve all day breakfast as that was what I was looking for. They stop serving breakfast at 11am. The service is TERRIBLE! We waited 90 minutes for our luke warm meal. The server was not attentive, what so ever, until the check was brought. I asked twice about our food to be told "the kitchen is a little behind" A 'little behind' means maybe 20 minutes NOT 90 Minutes! Nobody makes eye contact nor mentions we were there so long with no food. No apology just snarky rude people ignoring customers. We will NEVER spend a dime here ever again! Tried Avuncular Bob's for the first time on a Saturday morning. Lots of great things on the menu to order. And the prices are very reasonable. My friend and I chose Avuncular Bob's as a midway meeting place for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised! The place is clean and the waitstaff were very pleasant. Coffee was good and the prime rib scramble was hearty and tasty. My friend lives in Johnstown Co and I am usually in Cheyenne WY so this is the perfect midway gathering place. I live in Loveland, my folks in Cheyenne. We met for lunch, beings it's about half way. It took 45 minutes to get our food. Two Philly cheese steak sandwiches and a club sandwich. The food was okay. Nothing special. They were packed when we arrived. They had plenty of waitresses, and they were hustling. The food was just slow coming from the kitchen. We stopped for lunch today. Not busy. I had the Mini Shrimp Basket with Onion Rings...... Huge portion of medium Shrimp and the Best Onion rings I've had in decades.....both served hot and crisp. My husband Had the Patty melt and frys.....prepared perfectly and also served hot. They're many warns that their not fast....but they're not slow and the food is worth the wait. The Cafe still has that hometown Cafe feel....you sit at the lunch counter or grab a table......we havent seen Knotty pine paneling for a long time and some of the fun knick knacks From years gone by adorn the shelves. My initial response is 'meh'. Sunday afternoon. 2:30pm. First visit. We ordered fried chicken dinner and chicken fried steak. Plus added dinner salads. The waitress never checked on us after the initial order. Then she brings our entrees. But no salad. She forgot the salads. Food was ok. Standard diner type quality. I swear the fried chicken was in fact a cut up Cornish game hen due to the small size of pieces. We ordered dessert. Coconut pie and red velvet cake. Cake was very good and large piece. This is the first place I ever had Rocky Mountain Oysters. Dont let the "Inn" fool you as this is a diner/restaurant/bar. The diner area is separated from the restaurant and bar area. The T-Barr is where all the locals hang out. Its the hottest spot in town any night Smelkers isn't open! read more

Hadn't been to the restaurant since Kenny and Brenda owned it. Ordered a sausage breakfast burrito with green chili. Disappointed with the plate presentation as it was very uninspiring and plain. Plate needed to be wiped down. Serious lack of flavor with burrito. I'd never would believe that was the original T-Bar green chili. And to my suprise were the diced green peppers with the eggs. The guy seating/waiting was a bit of a jerk. He turned my father in law off so bad we left and ate at the Mexican place across the street. This place seriously needs a Bar Rescue. Slow service, long waits and employees yelling at each other. Kind of a cross between a biker bar and family restaurant. Randomly happened in here on a weekday excursion to Northern Colorado, and was pretty happy overall. Came here with my Dad, and we were about 2 hours beyond annoyed-hungry. Luckily, T Bar Inn came to the rescue. Their meatloaf was surprisingly good: two big chunks with a good gravy, some mashed potatoes, veggies, and a small roll. For $8.95? Sweet. Staff was great: on point, talkative, interactive, prompt, and just really nice. Lunch hit the spot, we were in and out in a little more than a half hour, and the impact to my wallet was minimal. Checked out the other side of the restaurant where the actual bar is. They seemed to have good deals on drinks, a bartender that made eye contact and walked over to serve me, even though I was just looking for the bathroom. It's ok, and that's being generous. When I went I wasn't too hungry so I ordered fries and some mashed potatoes. I also ordered a wine. The wine took forever to come and they weren't very busy. They had 1 choice for a white, one for red and one for rose. The name of the white wine was White wine. They couldn't tell me what kind. Same with the red. The wine they served also came from a can... I can go to a liquor store and get canned wine if I want, I thought it would be from a bottle. The wine was very bubbly, like a seltzer. Not too good IMO. The food took forever to come out, and again they weren't very busy. My fries were not good. I ate one and didn't eat anymore. My mashed potatoes were cold and horrible. It's difficult to make bad mashed potatoes but they weren't good. Beyond bland that salt and pepper didn't even help. Honestly, I'd just go to McDonalds or Taco Bell for better food. I know this place is under new ownership but today's lack of service was just unacceptable. We've been coming to the T Bar Inn for several years now, mostly for breakfast. The service has always been on the slower side but worth the wait. Today was the exception. We came in to a half full dining area expecting we had passed the Sunday morning rush crowd however, we sat for 10 minutes before anyone came for our drink order or to bring menus. Then, after finally ordering, we sat for another 45 minutes with only one follow-up by our waitress for a refill on coffee. At that point, we had seen people come and go, get their food, eat, and leave and we were still sitting without anything to eat. My husband got irritated so we left............ after waiting 45 minutes. This has completely ruined my day........... we won't be back! read more

My boyfriend of many years is originally from Wellington, CO. I have seen this town develop from a small town to a one stoplight wonder and finally to someplace that has entire housing developments popping up on a monthly basis. There is one place that has remained a glory of the town - the T Bar Inn. The biscuits and gravy are the bomb - just came here over the weekend and four of us all ordered the same thing - you know it's good when that happens.
