The food was really really bad. I don't really know how you can screw up hash brown but stale grease maybe... Maybe that's it! Eggs in an omelette... Same thing. They are advertising for a cook. Absolutely disgusted with this place. My daughter-in-law went to eat at this Cafe. My daughter-in-law was wearing sweats and a mini shirt because she is pregnant and it's hot outside. Not only did the owner kick her out for what she was wearing but also called her a Slut! Nobody and I mean absolutely nobody deserves that. I am a Fort Collins local and I know ever open has been here for a very long time but this is absolutely unacceptable. read more

Two of us went to go eat there on Saturday morning I was then charged $61 for a half an order of biscuits and gravy and a full order of biscuits and gravy I went back on Monday and told him that I was charged $61 the lady said she would fix it then I was charged $48 I called her back and said that was wrong and she said that I left a $15 tip on my piece of paper I said no I did not I left $5 tip on the table and I didn't even write anything down for this I think I should get a full refund for all of it for the crap I've had to go through and she said well I'll deal with it at 2:00 in the afternoon she was very rude and I'll never go back to that place again read more

North of the river, and very good for what they are, which is a diner style comfort food joint. I've had the chicken-fried steak and it is on point, fairly tender and glazed with a nice peppery gravy. Good portion size too, always need a to-go box. It's a value to eat here, like a greasy spoon should be. Parking lot is a bit small, Prius sized stalls for Ram trucks and 9-person SUV's. read more

We are always on the look out for brunch spots, so we had to try this place. It is the most "classic, old school diner" we've been to in the area. The good, and the bad. The food we had was okay--nothing fancy, decent flavors, moderate prices. The ambiance isn't at the level of the truly classic diners, it's just a big sunny room with a bunch of tables. But something about it is different than the modern, off-the-wall brunch places you otherwise find in the area. It seems to have a regular clientele, so seems it may appeal to a certain crowd. While I was there eight people entered without masks and the wait staff said nothing and began serving them. Likely more interested in a tip than the safety of the other customers and kids in the room. This is the first restaurant I have visited since Covid that did nothing to enforce the mask mandate. Stopped by this morning on our way through town and had a quick bite. It was recommended by a local. The food wasn't too bad, but certainly nothing special. I had chicken fried steak, eggs, hash browns, and toast. The steak was pretty good, eggs were ok, hash browns barely ok (definitely needed to be cooked longer), toast was fine. Coffee was ok. I'm sure there's better options around. Works in a pinch I suppose. Staff was friendly, restaurant seemed clean and prices were fair. read more

Mother's Day weekend. Usually it's spent doing things like breakfast in bed that was lovingly made by the kids with a home-made card covered in glitter or brunch at a favorite restaurant where nobody has to worry about dishes. Our tradition is to plant spring flowers in the yard, although those plans have been thwarted by snow for the last two years. This year we decided to go hiking and take the boys fishing for the first time up Poudre Canyon, taking advantage of the nice spring weather before it turned nasty. Whenever we have a day trip up into the mountains, it's mandatory that we first have a hearty country breakfast at a greasy spoon diner. We originally planned on stopping at Vern's. While driving up the soon-to-be-revitalized North College, we drove passed Ever Open Cafe. My husband and I looked at each other, both knowing that Ever Open hasn't been reviewed. It make an interesting breakfast adventure! He then quickly (and safely) made a U-Turn, pulling into the sparse parking lot. I spent an entire week researching details and history of Ever Open Cafe. Hours upon hours of flipping through endless pages on Google, I came up with pretty much nothing. Odd considering that Ever Open has been around for 50 years. So, this is what I know about the small little diner: * It's been in business for 50 years, thanks to the signs claiming so as we drove up to Ted's Place. * It was also possibly known as Al's Cafe at some point. Don't know when or why it changed. * It was also known as Ever Open Cafe and Gas Stop, although there are no longer gas pumps there if it was indeed a real truck stop. * Just like the typical American diner, they have homemade pies and chili. * Oddly, they have free wifi. And that's it. We walked into a place that seemed to be left back in time while the rest of the world around evolved and changed with technology. It reminded my husband of the diners in a very small town his family was from, with a population of a little over 900 people. This is the general feeling of North Fort Collins, anyway. Once you cross the tracks, it's totally different than the rest of the city. When going in, we didn't expect much. Actually, we were ready to relive the horror stories that we'd been told about Ever Open. Really, it wasn't that bad. Was it good enough to make us stop by every time we took a trip up the canyon? No. But we did have a meal that filled us up for a good hike and some absolutely amazing fishing where The Preschooler caught his very first two fish. Not exactly the prefect Mother's Day brunch, but definitely, the perfect Mother's Day. read more

I've lived in the ft collins area for my entire life and have never braved the ever open until today. When we first walked in, i was pleasantly surprised to see so many people. The waitress was very nice. Tables were clean. That's where the two stars came from. First bad taste was the coffee. We had bad creamer and the sweet gal was nice enough to switch it out with black... but the rest of the creamer remained on the table... Then the food... the hash browns were stale and cold. The veggie cheese omelet was ok. Kind of bland. But the green chile cheese omelet? I'm not even sure what the hell it was. We wouldn't have been able to place that odor if it weren't for our visit to the zoo a few days ago. It tasted like dung. From the monkey house. Or maybe it was cow manure. I have stopped here before and had a great cheeseburger. This time I was there for breakfast. It was a good breakfast for me, eggs, hash browns, toast and bacon. My wife had an omelette that was disappointing. It was basically scrambled eggs with the rest of the ingredients , mostly cheese, spread on top. So, I wouldn't order an omelette, but a basic breakfast was superior. Staff was friendly and there was a group of older gentlemen that apparently breakfasted here every morning, very congenial place. read more

Hmm... I was ready to love this place, but it just didn't pan it for me. The diner has a minimalistic but classic feel to it. The tables and chairs are solid with no frills. On this particular day, two women were handling all of the tables as things began to fill up. Our waitress was not able to handle this small rush (still, only about 50% of the dining space was filled at most) and quickly became frazzled. She set a priority on getting orders in and rushing food to tables, but that left us there for nearly 20 minutes waiting for her to drop off the check. Refilling drinks fell down the priority list, too, so it felt like we were no longer taken care of once our plates hit the table. We went with breakfast dishes and the food was decent. There was nothing that I'd write home about. I ordered the cheese omelet which came out looking very deflated. It seems that the cook scrambled the eggs, dumped some shredded cheese in, and through it on the flat top which meant that the characteristic fluffiness with oozing cheese stuffing was lost. The bread used for the toast was pretty unremarkable. Prices were relatively reasonable. Feel free to stop by if you need to, otherwise I'm sure you can find some place better. read more

My wife and I had a craving for a Monte Cristo. We didn't know who served them since Bennigan's closed, so we did a Google search and Ever Open Café came up. Since it was about a block away, we decided to go for my wife's birthday. We have had Monte Cristos many times but it has been a while. We were excited to have one. We decided to split one because they are rather large. We ordered an extra side of fries and two side salads. the salads were decent, but very small. But side salads are small anyway. then the entrée arrived and to our disappointment, they brought us a small, soggy grilled ham and cheese sandwich with a little powdered sugar sprinkled on top. we got a tiny container of strawberry jam or jelly that tasted spoiled and was so thin, it was like colored water and we could not eat it, or drink it. The fries were old Ore Ida frozen fries and tasted like they were freezer burnt and very old. So, after the major disappointment on our wasted meal, we got a bill for $40!!! yes, for one entrée and an extra side of fries and two side salads. One very small Pepsi and one water. How do you charge almost $6 for a small order of frozen french fries, $6 for each side salad, about a cup of lettuce, sprinkle of cheese and a few diced tomatoes, $3 for about a cup of Pepsi, and $13 for a very soggy, small, undercooked grilled ham and cheese sandwich? Needles to say we will never go back to the Ever Open Cafe in Ft. Collins. This is the first review I have ever done so this must tell everyone how awful our experience was read more

The decor is nice and clean. The coffee was awful. I like a good coffee, and with sugar and cream it was still the worst I've had in Fort Collins. I got the veggie skillet, assuming it would be a hard thing to screw up. The food came out longer than it should have for how simple the food was and for the volume of customers that were there. My hash browns were not brown at all. The mushrooms tasted canned. I got a side order of pancakes that I'm pretty sure were Bisquick. Would not go back. read more

Every Sunday my parents would take us here and know having children of my own and being able to take them here to eat biscuits and gravy is an honor. Long wait (both for the food and followup service) as others have posted was the primarily hassle. It was sunday morning but the place wasn't very crowded. I ordered steak and eggs, she ordered biscuits and gravy. With sides of bacon and sausage. My sausage patty was so-so, her gravy was really good, as were the eggs and toast. The sirloin steak was about what you'd expect from the "Steak and Eggs" steak at a greasy spoon. Had a freshly-microwaved taste, was a little overcooked but I ate most of it. Hash browns were decent. Price came to $33 for the two of us, which surprised me a little considering it's a small diner. I think what bit us was the extra cost of the sides. read more

I don't know how many times I drove by this place on my way to the mountains since I came to Fort Collins, but last summer after a camping trip we finally stopped and had some breakfast. Maybe it was the meal I ordered (an omelet with green chili, IIRC), but this was one of the best breakfasts I've had since I moved here (up there with Vern's and Farmer's Table). It's a nice, roadside-style diner and it had that friendly, retro feeling to it. I highly recommend this yummy place. read more

There is a good reason this place has been open for fifty years and the other reviewer of this café completely missed out on why! I agree this is not the right choice for a birthday celebration or the best choice for Mom on Mother's day, but if you want good value and decent food you are at the right place. You will find enough variety to satisfy almost any craving. The only way you will spend less money is to buy off someone's dollar menu, but you'll also get a lot less to eat. I have stopped here for lunch with my Mom and I haven't felt guilty about her insisting to pay for our meal. On my last visit for breakfast I tried the green chili omelet. The plain scrambled eggs were covered in green chili with chucks of pork and accompanied with plain potatoes grilled to the perfect crunch, a solid 8 out of 10 for this simple yet satisfying meal. On this weekday morning I felt like the only one in the place that didn't eat here every day. The friendly wait staff new everyone's name, even mine, which was to my surprise " Hun". If your goal is to impress someone this place is not for you. For a satisfying meal that you can afford on a regular basis and enough variety that won't let you get bored, you can't beat The Ever Open Café. read more

But the food was mediocre at best and the green chili was so bad I couldn't even eat it. My husband had the meatloaf and it had some weird fatty stuff on the outside. Ever Open (I remember when it was actually open 24 hours) needs to attract new customers. I live nearby, eat there occasionally. They had free Wi-Fi but took it out. I give them good marks for getting your food to the table quickly when they are busy on weekend mornings. One great experience - years before I moved to Fort Collins I looked at a mobile home for sale. I discussed this with the waitress that evening. She asked where it was. The following discussion saved me from what could have been a costly mistake. One bad experience - there was a group of racist skinheads with tee-shirts proclaiming their ignorant views. Am glad they did not know what I was thinking. North College is changing as a result of street improvements Phase II completed and Phase III on schedule for construction start in 2014. Will Ever Open be able to attract new customers? They have fast food all around plus the deli at King Soopers North Marketplace - College and Willox. They made one change recently. Instead of having the tv turned to some garbage (World's Dumbest Criminals) with the volumne up, today they will have CNN or sports with captions and volumne muted. read more
