It's apparently hit and miss at this establishment but last month I had a check engine light problem and needed it repaired to sell my vehicle. I wasn't charged a ridiculous diagnostic fee And just the amount for parts and labor.so far so good with no issues! Today I called about a rear strut job on my other vehicle and was given an extremely high quote although 1/2 price of the dealer labor rate which was about 40% higher than another local auto shop.I was hoping for a better deal so I went with the other shop.I may have talked to someone other than the owner so depending on who you talk to you may have different prices/results. read more

Came back and he handed me the key and led me into the shop to pay, said he also checked the floor and brakes and everything looked good. Don is as good as it gets. I come here for my oil change and any other car related problems I have. He knows me, my husband, my kids (if I'm towing them along). He's very nice and knows his stuff. I always try to get here first thing after dropping off 2/3 kids as it can get busy for oil changes. If it'll take more than an hour he'll straight up tell me and try to get me come another day. The wait area is shabby but I usually don't spend more than 20-30mins at most. If I do take it in with a long wait, I usually walk to a nearby coffee shop to kill time. read more

I recently got in an accident and looking for a local shop to work with. As flusterred as I was with the accident, I drove to the shop not knowing what to expect, that's when I came across Ray. His demeanor was so relaxed. He was so kind, helpful, and knowledgable. I asked a million questions about the process. How long it would take? What insurance would pay for? How is the payment handled? Whom to pay the deductible to? What if there is any additional damage? He was so patient and explained the entire process to me. I learned that the industry was heavily regulated and the price is pretty much set by the insurance company. The only variable was the quality of the work, I went based on the Yelp reviews. Well, I got my car back today ahead of schedule and the work is amazing. I asked what if the paint starts to fade because I park outdoors? He said, don't worry about it, it comes with a 10yr no fade satisfaction guarantee. They went above and beyond with all the details. After disassembling my bumper, he noticed damage to the headlight. He took pictures and submitted to insurance on my behalf. He worked with suppliers to get OEM parts. Because one light was new and the other about 10yrs old. He had his guys polish the other headlight to make them match at no additional cost. I mean, you just couldn't ask for more. He didn't even have to touch it to be honest. So in conclusion, while you don't walk into a body shop everyday like you do a restaurant, you never know what you're gonna get. I found a hidden gem in Cerritos/Artesia, and I highly recommend. My daughter's car broke down on highway 5 and the tow truck driver towed it to Kings Auto Repair. She called her boyfriend to get her and she continued on her trip. Juan and Ramon diagnosed the problem as the transmission. The car was under warranty and since my daughter was 300 miles away in the Bay Area, I (also hundreds of miles away) arranged for the car to be towed to the dealership. Ramon worked with the tow truck driver to get the car picked up and on its way, and asked for no money for diagnosing the problem, or helping the tow truck driver take the car away. Sure, stereotypes are annoying...even more annoying when you fit one perfectly. Yes, I'm female. No, I'm not interested in car type things at all. Yes, this makes me a prime target for mechanics looking to make an extra buck. They can tell me that I need a new flux capacitor, but they got a special deal and for me it's only $800 and I'd believe them. I have no choice. Luckily, this isn't the case with King's. Don is ON it. No mumbo jumbo about nonsensical car parts, or getting a rebuilt part here or there and whatnot. Just straight up auto repair. And generally pretty quick too...although I do recommend comin' first thing in the morning to beat the crowds a bit. After many a bad experience a Jiffy Lube and EZ Lube, we even get our oil changed here regularly. Sure, it takes a bit longer, but for $25 and a job well done, it's more than worth it. read more

Honest and best Body repair shop that you will find in Orange County. I've got into car Accident this morning on my way to work. Called AAA, and from Westminster to here was 13 miles and my membership only covers 7 miles of tow service and rest is extra charge per mile. But without a second thought I chose King's Body Shop even if it meant extra cost to tow. Owner David and Ray who works here are amazing. These guys are very funny too! My heart was sunken from unexpected accident which my Insurance didn't cover, but after talking with these guys I was feeling so much better. They were able quickly determine what the issue was (my alternator) and even took the extra steps to scope that it was indeed the issue without trying to upsell me on additional areas that may not have been the issue. So I came here because my bumper was stickin out on the side after someone hit me. The guy at the body shop kept asking about what insurance cover I had and what deductibles were applicable. I hate having to deal with anything related to my car. Oil changes, repairs, paint jobs, etc. Forget it. Me+cars=clueless. So, when I was looking for a new place to get an oil change, I turned to Yelp. I read nearly all of the reviews on this place and figured I'd be safe. Yelpers have yet to fail me!! I went on a Friday morning and I was met by Don, the owner. He quoted me $25 and about 15-20 mins. Someone started working on my car ASAP. I was all prepared for about an hour's wait with breakfast from home and a book. After Don quoted me, he just kind of walked away, talking on his cell phone. He didn't take my name or number. I kind of stood there for a minute and then just sauntered over to Artesia Park. I found a decent bench to sit on, munched on my banana chocolate chip muffin and started reading my chic lit. 10 mins. later, I see my car being pulled out of the garage. That was fast! I walk back over, pay, and leave. As I pay, I notice the tiny waiting room for the first time. It has about 3 chairs (I'll know to wait there next time) and a water cooler. Don is a man of few words; no friendly exchanges, he didn't even crack a smile. Well, I'm not there to chit chat so that's fine with me. I got an oil change and left happy. Don also drilled my front license plate on my car (yeah... i've had the car for 2 years without one) and fixed a flat tire that i didnt even know i had. total cost was $35. no upselling or bullshit surpises. the service i got was pretty basic, so i cant yet recommend this to everyone i know, but i will come back based on two things - the aforementioned extras that were of no charge, and the fact that they made sure i had done the major maintenance items for 90,000 miles already. to me that showed that they know cars pretty well and knew what my car required. which is awesome because i am not good with cars in any way whatsoever, which my be obvious based on my above comment that i didnt even know i had a flat tire. during the hour long wait, i walked to the artesia public library and read a book. being in a quiet, air conditioned place full of books is def not a bad way to kill time. to get there, you walk west on south street for a block and turn right on clarkdale. another option is to hang out at the park, but there was this beetle that wouldnt leave me alone and it freaked me out. ANYWAY. the auto shop is pretty small, so if you plan to wait it out you should have a plan and wear shoes you can walk in. read more

I woke up and skipped the Saturday morning cartoons to get my front brakes replaced. Before going there, I had initially stopped by MIDAS on Rosecrans and Pioneer, and scoped out their rates. It was pretty steep and I didnt want to spend 240+ just to replace my front brakes. So my second choice (should've been my first..) was King's Auto Repair. Like every bargain hunter, I've read reviews on Yelp before my departure. 8:30 rolls around and Don comes up to me and instantly remembers my call this morning. The place was a tad busy. He then told me just to leave my car there, and that it would be done around 11. So I walked down the block, got me a cup of java, bought me the heaviest apple fritter that I've ever held in my entire life, and sat down at Artesia park reading the OC weekly. Time flew by quick. By 9:30am, Don took the car for a drive and drove back into the garage. I don't know why I asked...but I felt I had to question if they can resurface my rotors, I've got a 07 Scion tC. So Don tells me that I don't need to get my rotors resurfaced, as their pretty new still. Great guy. He could've charged me for that. Don changed the front brakes using the original pads. And he also mentioned that I had to change my oil, said that it seemed low. I gave him the go. So roughly, it was 110 for the front pads, and 25 for an oil change!! Here's my thesis: You can literally feel the quality and the great job these mechanics do. They are the most honest groups of mechanics I have ever had the pleasure of meeting with so far. Affordable rates. Just professional all around. I thanked Don for the service and told him about the Yelp reviews, he's been getting folks coming there lately and they've mentioned this site as well. Although he hasn't read them, he's happy that this little workshop on South street is getting good reviews. I recommend this place highly if you want truth, quality work, and affordable rates.
