Had a whole day set up with reservations back to back. Speakeasy first, dinner next and last hookah and dessert at Tabac for a 10:30 reservation. Got here 10 minutes early checked in and waited and waited and waited 45 min later and 35 minutes AFTER our RESERVATION we got sat. We also had to ask a few times about being seated because they barely acknowledged us or reassured us waiting outside 30 plus minutes. Totally killed our vibe in that moment!! So fyi your reservations mean you'll get a seat eventually but not on time!! Maybe they shouldn't allocate time slotted reservations they can't fulfill within reasonable time or set time limits to accommodate the rest of their guest being it's more of a lounge than restaurant. The lighting and ambiance is nice but food and hookah was ok. read more

Service here is just terrible, you'd think for it being a Wednesday their seating availability would be open. We originally made reservations for inside but with San Diego's beautiful weather we asked to be seated outside. Since we were only two we got seated in a small table for only two. There were two ladies next to us (super loud and saying bad words in Spanish) seated in a 4 guest table. My husband and I asked if we could move to the next table to us to give us space and also not feel crowded next to the ladies. The waiter said we could but would be asked to move after so they can seat other guests....uhm the restaurant is half empty why would you need us to move? Seems to me like the only way to get good service is if you are middle eastern. Food option is limited, it's mainly focused on appetizers and hookah. read more

Came here around 10:30pm on a Friday night for some food rather than hookah. The place was packed but we were able to get a table for three relatively quickly inside. The outside area was packed with people eating and smoking hookah's but the inside had a few tables and was nicely air conditioned and comfortable to sit at. We ordered a number of appetizers and entrees including Dolmas, Hummus, lamb and chicken shish kebabs and a salad. Overall the food was tasty, nothing spectacular but pretty decent for a hookah joint. The salad was fresh with crisp lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and pomegranate. The hummus was average. The lamb and chicken skewers were tasty, the lamb was good perfectly with great flavor and no gaminess. Overall we had a decent meal here. read more

I came here on a Sunday with no reservations,and was seated immediately. The seating and overall vibes are beautiful. I got the appetizer platter and the kebbe was pretty good. All the dips were also flavorful. Keep in mind though that there is a 2 hour limit for seating because they get busy on weekends. The mocktails are presented beautifully. Although they do not have a license to sell alcohol (yet) I really enjoyed everything about this place! BEST Chai Latte I've ever had! Also tried the Turkish Coffee. We really appreciate that level of service. The owner, Muhammad, as always, was so friendly, welcoming, and polite. It's that personal touch that makes us love coming back and bringing friends along. This is the only Turkish restaurant in SoCal that I genuinely enjoy going to, it really feels like being back in Turkey. I don't usually write negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I feel it's worth sharing. In my experience, this restaurant plays games with its menu pricing. Instead of clearly stating that their Turkish breakfast costs $80, the menu lists it as $40 per person, which gives the impression that it is a single-person item. In reality, this breakfast is never served for one person, it is always served for two, which means it is always $80, not $40. This information is not clearly explained on the menu, and customers only realize it after ordering. For an item that is effectively an $80 breakfast, the portion size was extremely small and did not justify the price. The way this is presented feels unclear and creates a false expectation about both the cost and the portion size. We were required to order four dishes/food because we were a party of four. Part of the food came so late. Tea was served when we were almost finished eating. The restaurant appeared understaffed, with only one waiter and one person running food for the entire dining room, which likely contributed to delays and a lack of organization. Overall, the pricing was presented in a deliberately confusing and misleading way, the portions did not match the cost, and the service was disorganized. We walked up and were immediately greeted by two lovely ladies, for some reason our reservation didn't come up in their system but they still managed to sit up. This was Tuesday at 7:00pm. The ambiance is nice, doesn't feel like you're in little Italy. They offer hookah and it was actually VERY smooth. I ordered an Amalfi Breeze, obviously non alcoholic, they don't serve alcohol at all. But it was still very refreshing and tasteful. Our appetizer was Mezze Platte and it did not disappoint. Our server made sure to come by and check if we needed more bread, which I appreciated but we passed. For our entree we ordered the Shish d'Angello, and the Pesto Tulum flatbread. Shish d'Angello, let me tell you, absolutely amazing. We asked for it to be prepared medium well, and it was tender & paired well with the lavash which to me (being Mexican) was a form of a tortilla. Pesto Tulum flatbread was very tasty and it wasn't too cheesy. At some point throughout dinner I felt a little chilly and our waiter, Murat, took it upon himself to bring a blanket. Every seat gets one but if you're sitting on the actual booth there isn't one hanging. At the end we ordered the Dubai Dream and oh my god it was sooooo good. But you have to make sure you get a good bite all the way to the bottom of the glass. But it's truly so good, I couldn't stop eating even though your girl is trying to lose weight. TABAC needs to completely start over with their staff, they have zero customer serviceability. Zero. We showed up 1:00 on a Saturday, the person who sat us pointed to a QR code and almost just grunted at us. I hate QR code menus and we were not told which menu to look at breakfast brunch lunch dinner what the hell, I asked for water please as we walk there and it was 80° out. I after 5-10 minutes I stared at the staff until someone finally came over and I asked again for water and ask what menu we should be looking at and he said just breakfast, 0kay that's weird. Another 5 minutes go by and he comes to take our order and I still don't have any freaking water. After a third time asking for water they finally got it that I wanted water. We ordered the yogurt board (absolutely delicious) and had to ask is there any salad or hummus? And then he said we could order a salad off the appetizer menu and I'm like this makes no sense what menu are we supposed to be ordering off of at 1:00 on a weekend. So yogurt board, salad, no bread, had the beg to get a water refilled, then no staff, nothing, so how are we going to pay the stinking Bill since nobody's coming back? We had to stand for 10 minutes waiting for a check until a staff member finally noticed us. This was ridiculously bad customer service. Wow. read more
