Finjan is such a beautiful Turkish coffee spot and easily one of my favorites. I love their drinks, they are incredibly flavorful, high quality, and always presented so beautifully. I'm honestly obsessed with their ceramic plates and cups, they add so much to the whole experience. They serve great coffee, and you can also try traditionally made Turkish coffee here, which makes it feel even more special and authentic. Their baklava is top notch, and the food is just as good. My favorite is the fava bean toast.. so delicious and unique. Overall, such a lovely spot with amazing drinks, great food, and a really thoughtful presentation. read more

Finjan Coffee Shop is an absolute treat. Arab cuisine and café culture are incredibly rich, warm, and full of character -- and Finjan does a beautiful job bringing that experience to life. I absolutely love the fava bean open sandwich. I almost always go for the Arab cold brew, and their Karak is fantastic as well. The Turkish coffee is completely on point. I'm a huge fan. I was on the hunt for a good early morning matcha and remembered how much I liked Finjan Coffee at their Mission Valley location. It was so good I've recommended it to a bunch of people, so I decided to check out the original Kearny Mesa spot out of respect. In my head, the first location should be even better since that's where it started, but that wasn't the case at all and it ended up being pretty disappointing. I ordered online and it showed a 19 minute wait for just a drink, which felt long for around 6:30 in the morning. I placed it anyway, but when I got there the plaza was basically empty. It's in a quieter area near military and recruitment offices. My drink was already sitting at the pickup counter with my name on it, so I was in and out in seconds. There is some outdoor seating with music playing, which is nice, but I didn't stay long. I ordered the same matcha I got in Mission Valley because it was that memorable. The only difference was dairy milk instead of oat milk, but that shouldn't have changed it this much. The color was the first red flag. It was super light, almost pale green, instead of that bright vibrant green you expect from good matcha. You can usually tell quality just from that. The taste didn't match either. The Mission Valley one had a strong matcha flavor with a slight sweetness from the date syrup, and the knafeh cold foam pulled everything together. This one tasted weak and kind of flat. The cold foam was still good and tasted the same, but that's only a small part of the drink and not enough to save it. Now I'm honestly confused because I've been recommending this drink to people and if they came to this location first, their experience would be completely different. It just didn't live up to what I had before. I'll probably go back to the Mission Valley spot to see if that version is actually the standard, but this one left me pretty let down. read more

I got the chance to try Finjān Coffee at a mobile booth they ran for an Eid event I attended. It was so delicious that I will absolutely seek out their shops whenever I get the chance! I tried their karak tea (a milk tea with spices and sugar) and it was absolutely delicious! I also tried their baklava (pistachio and walnut) and both were great. Their knafeh, however, was standout. I had never tried kanafeh before but I got to have it fresh and warm and it was divine! Came back to this coffee shop to try more of their drinks and food offerings! The honey cinnamon latte was refreshing and flavorful, especially if you like your drinks on the sweeter side. I also tried the crunchy knafeh, which was a great contrast of textures, with a salty sweet cheese filling. It was also quite big, easily shareable with 2-3 people. This was my first time trying Finjan and I had a wonderful experience! I love an orange latte so when I saw it on the menu I knew I'd have to order. It might be one of the best orange lattes I've had to date. It wasn't overly sweet, but the orange flavor comes through so well without overpowering the coffee. I would highly recommend if you're looking to try something on the fruitier side. The drinks did take a while to be prepared, so it might not be the best spot if you're in a rush, but they truly seemed to be crafted with intention. Perfectly crispy on the outside, warm and soft inside, with just the right amount of sweetness - exactly how good kunafa is supposed to be. Fresh, rich, and super satisfying. They also have a pretty wide beverage menu and a lot of other food options, so I'm sure there's more worth trying, but the kunafa alone is reason enough to come here. I literally have nothing bad to say about this place, it will forever be my favorite coffee spot of all time! It deserves more than five stars! This is the place I take everyone, especially out-of-town friends, because it's truly just that spot. You honestly can't order a bad drink on the menu and trust me, I've basically worked my way through all of them. Their seasonal drinks are always creative, fun, and actually worth trying. Saw Finjan Matcha on my FYP and decided to give it a try, my first time ordering the knafeh cold foam matcha and it was made pretty standard. The second time I ordered was the best as the knafeh cold foam went well with the paru matcha and the color was incredible, with the pistachios on top being noticeable throughout the drink. I was hoping the third time around it would've been the same but was completely thrown off when I had a very milky matcha :( felt like there was no matcha in the drink and it just kinda tasted like I was drinking straight oatmilk for $8. The difference between my first, second, and third time getting the matcha is like a night & day difference and safe to say I won't be visiting again for the inconsistency. :( read more

I like sweet cheese and crunch so this was like a dream come true. i also got the knafeh cream cold brew. the cold brew was very acidic but that sourness disappeared when mixed well with the salted knafeh cream! service was alright. it didnt really feel friendly to me... i most likely wouldnt want to go back because of how awkward/cold the environment seemed. made me feel like i didnt belong there :/ read more

I've been here twice now hoping the first time was a fluke and unfortunately it took 20+ minutes both times. The first time there was only 2 people before me. Normally for coffee I like extra cream for a more balanced coffee flavor but the cold brew itself is so good it doesn't need anything additional buuut you might as well just get the Knafeh Cold Foam Cold Brew because it's delicious and you deserve it. The avocado toast is very popular but don't sleep on the Fava Bean Toast; it's a great breakfast high protein, fiber and flavor! Also so grateful they open before 7am or 8am. I stopped by Finjan's last weekend and ended up ordering a latte and the avocado toast. I only grabbed a photo of the coffee, but trust me the toast was massive. Way bigger than I expected and honestly so good. I had my heart set on the waffle, but they were out, so that just gives me an excuse to go back. This is a unique middle eastern coffee shop that serves authentic Turkish coffee (which is what I came specifically to try). I got Nutella Turkish coffee (with a side of milk), walnut baklava, monkey toast, and knafeh. The process to make the Turkish coffee is so cool! They add the coffee grounds and water (plus optional Nutella) to this cute little copper pot that they heat up in sand. I got a small side of milk (no charge!!) as I was worried that the coffee would be too strong as they serve it basically like a shot of espresso, but it was totally unnecessary. The coffee is super smooth & rich and doesn't need any milk to mellow it out. I recommend that you DO NOT stir the coffee when you get it, as it is served with the coffee grounds still at the bottom, or else you'll have to wait for it to all sink down again. The monkey toast was great, the fruit was fresh and it had a ton of peanut butter. I also enjoyed the baklava, perfect crunchy layers and not soggy at all. The knafeh is made to order and served warm. I recommend you eat it right away while its still gooey and soft! I would love to come back and try some of their other lattes! I was looking for a coffee spot that served food and a friend recommended this place. It's got plenty of parking which is a plus. It's in a little Plaza with other restaurants next to it. I ordered the pistachio Latte iced. I was hoping to order some food, but their menu was kind of limited with mostly smaller fare, and there was nothing that sounded appetizing to me at the time. The person I was with did order some of the avocado toast, it did seem a bit pricey to me, but she said it was good. My latte was good, and I like that they crushed pistachios on the top. It also wasn't overly sweet with a ton of syrups and things, so I like that. The seating inside is very minimal, they do have a few spaces outside, but again not very much. I know this is very common with a lot of coffee places so I wasn't that's surprised. The cashier at the counter was very nice and she answered all of our questions, and had patience as it was our first time. I didn't feel like the menu was a bit small, not only food-wise, but the drinks as well. Since it is October I was also a bit surprised not to see more fall themed items, which is something a lot of other places to that I enjoy. Nice decor including middle easter/Turkish lanterns. Spacious outdoor patio and indoor dining including a long bar with stools. Not super fast, not super slow. Average coffee shop prices (which are too high IMO). We both ordered flavored coffees. My husband said he couldn't taste any vanilla in it. Stellar coffee! Drinks aren't that sweet which i absolutely love! I wish the Rose Cardamom latte was a permanent menu item it was that good. The Nutella Turkish coffee is amazing too! Baklava is fresh and delicious, and labne toast is a great snack. I will say the Turkish coffee takes really long to make. Like super long (15-20 mins for us). What makes a good coffee shop? Well, for starters, it doesn't have green logo with a topless mermaid. Which means the coffee is sourced from a reputable local roaster. Selection: Not just coffee, but food and dessert as well. I ordered the seasonal iced Salted Tahini Honey Latte w/ regular milk and my friend got the basic hot Vanilla Bean Latte. If I wasn't still full from my meal at Tahini's, I would've tried Baklava or Knafeh. I'll return next time with these treats in mind! Enough tables indoors and outdoors. This is a very cute coffee place in the Mission Valley Food 4 Less shopping center that shares a space with a Mediterranean place called tahini. The coffee place is tucked to the side and there's actually seating for people who want to study there. The menu is a little bit small and on the wall, but does have some truly unique flavors of such as an orange latte. I tried their pistachio latte which comes out to seven dollars with an alternative milk, which is on par with other coffee places. But note that this pistachio latte does use real pistachio in it cause you can taste some of the pistachio crumbles. It is not sweet at all, but a little bit more on the savory side. Their additional desserts as well if you have a sweet tooth, but I can definitely see this place as a hangout for a quick study or gathering with friends. It's been pretty quiet for the most part and it's next to the bathroom in terms of ambience. If you're studying and you get hungry, then hit a tahini that's attached to this place. Only downside is that this place closes at 5 o'clock. Staff was super helpful and helping me pick and letting me know which ones were overly sweet. I would definitely come here for a change of pace and Mediterranean flavors. read more

A really nice, fairly new coffee shop in Kearny Mesa. It's right next door to the restaurant Tahini, and I believe it's owned by the same people. The vanilla bean latte and Arab cold brew are both really tasty. The cinnamon and mint are great additions to the Arab cold brew that elevate it a bit. The blueberry mint refresher is pretty nice too, almost like a mocktail. The avocado toast isn't bad, but I always feel like avocado toast that's over $9 needs meat or something extra to justify the price. It was presented well and was fresh, but I'm not sure I'd order it again. The interior is pretty cool, and the seating is nice. There are plenty of high stools at a bar, and there are also numerous booths and a few tables outside. The staff is friendly, and the shop is very cleanly. It's definitely worth checking out, and is one of the better coffee shops in this part of Kearny Mesa. read more

This place is a gem. Amazing! There's not many coffee spots in the area that serve great espresso, this one is my favorite. I love ordering online before I leave for work. I typically get a cappuccino with almond milk here. I also love their iced latte unsweetened with almond milk. They have sphere ice, ice game on point! One time a woman working was so kind and made me a mint iced latte with fresh mint (which is not on the menu). She was so kind to do so, I hope they add this to the menu in the future! But I would be lying if I didn't point out what others have been saying lately: the time from ordering to getting that order is taking longer and longer. They are amply staffed, but somehow there is a notable diminution of celerity. Last time I was here, in a practically empty cafe it still took 9 minutes to get my espresso drink. Their variety of Turkish coffee is way more than I'd seen before. You could choose what level of sweet and they even have a Nutella Turkish coffee. Now that's a no-brainer for me! Yummm! The Nutella Turkish coffee- yumm again. I also ordered naturally a piece of baklava (pistachio) and a hot salted-pistachio latte to take home for hubby. Just as I was about to pay for my order, I saw their seasonal menu which has a butternut latte! Sign me up! Yes, I'll have one of those too please! Love butternut squash- we have a dozen at home right now, I make a butternut squash coconut curry soup every week during winter. But I digress. The latte mug and Turkish coffee cups are so too cute!! Finjan had been on my list for a while now and I'm glad I got a chance to come visit. The menu is unlike any I've seen before. Their menu leans to Middle Eastern flavors and they serve Arabic and Turkish coffee. I enjoyed a Basbousa cold brew, a spring special cold brew that has hints of coconut in the cold foam and the stewed fava bean toast. Amazing tastes. The coffee was well balanced and not too sweet. The toast was a large portion and good enough for dinner. The barista was so great and she answered all my questions and gave me some suggestions for my next visit. The knafeh is the clear favorite item to order. It is made to order so it comes out hot and flaky. I've saw many of the patrons order this and it's definitely on my list to try next time. The barista also noted the baklawa is made fresh in the morning and if I wanted to try that, to come early. I will also do that since it's one of my favorite pasties. We came back two more times and the coffees came out fast! They must have been short staffed in my prior review. Orange Mocha was incredible, one of the best coffees I have ever had! It's a fresh, orange infused syrup. I order almond milk and they steam the milk very well, so it's creamy and not foamy at all. You can tell the ingredients are quality.
