Some of the best food comes from these 'hole in the wall 'joints such as with this spot where taxi cab drivers frequent. My cousin goes here several times a week and is obsessed with the biryani and I am a huge fan of the butter chicken and the minced meat, usually chicken beef or lamb. The people who run this place are very friendly, though you might have to remind them of exactly what you want but if you treat them nice, they hook you up with bigger portions or give you things for free to try it out such as when I was asking about their halvva, a colorful sweet, kind of bright orange in color. The place is clean, full of random taxi cab drivers or a group of them that met to eat and chat. Late at night you will find random people like me walk in because they know the secret about how cool this place is for feasting. I love the naan here, it is very close to the Peshawari naan which is the absolute best. This place is open all night so its a great late night spot and I alway seem to find parking rather close to the front entrance. Hearing all these different languages and watching the Urdu news stations is always interesting. This place is highly recommended and they also make food for parties or special events. read more

I stopped by here on a whim the other day. I am always intrigued with different types of food. Granted, it is a cabbie joint, so you have to know what you are getting into. It was kind of interesting. The food was just so-so, but the service was really bad. Did I mention parking was horrendous? I think the city has to do something about this cabbie joints b/c they really make it hard to park in the area. Also, I found something very odd...it seemed like a lot of the men in there were going down into the basement. I am not sure what is going on down there, but I definitely did not want to find out. I am guessing that it is an actual functioning mosque in the basement. Not sure how legal that is, I am guessing you have to have proper zoning to be a place of worship? I cannot believe I even spent $20 at this "restaurant". I walked in having super high expectations after seeing the Yelp reviews here. I ordered the Frontier Chicken and it was completely bland.. I actually had to throw it away. The naan was very hard and it was like eating with a cracker. The service did not help either. Everyone was very unhelpful and just plain rude. I met the manager as well and he had a very bad attitude and didn't seem to care about his customers. I don't think I could ever recommend Tabaq to any of my friends/family. read more

However, the biryani here was absolutely delicious. The goat was tender, and the taste was just awesome. I felt like they added Dalda to the biryani because it was very greasy--not like fatty goat, but more like the texture of Dalda. Then, they brought me a spoon, but both biryanis had unclean spoons. One of my friends got pissed off and said he's never coming back. For me, though, I loved the biryani. The chapathi and goat curry were good, but not amazing.

Relatively clean and have counter service. We got a table and then walked up to order our food. We ordered a paapri chaat, a hunter beef sandwich, special noodles khausa, a bihari mayo roll, pani puri and a small fry. We also orederd some pomegranate flavored Limca and a coke. The food came out as it was ready and was fresh and hot off the stove. The khausa and the pani puri were hits with the family. The noodles were cooked well and the sauce and gravy from the beef was very flavorful. Everyone enjoyed that. The pani puri the kids loved to the point that we had to ask for more puris. The pani (spiced water to dip the puris in) was spiced and balanced well and the chickpeas and potatoes were sprinkled with a spice blend that gave them a depth of flavor then just plain boiled vegetables with salt. The hunter beef sandwich was good although a bit dry. The flavor with the toasted bread and addition of veggies and mayo complimented the beef well. The roll was spicy for most and was decent but not spectacular. The paapri chaat was refreshing and delicious. The star of the evening was the gola gunda (shaved ice with syrups and condensed milk drizzled on top). THe kids loved it and it came in a bowl with plenty of syrup and condensed mile. It was tasty and refreshing. We liked it so much that we stopped by twice more on our trip just for the gola gunda. I would definitely be going back, if for nothing else than the gola gunda.

I ordered the chicken chili roll and Bihari mayo roll. The restaurant wasn't too clean and seating area was small, they do have a small patio with additional seating. The person who took my order was nice and straightforward with my order, a little hard to understand though with a language barrier, but expected for the area/location on Devon Ave.
