I've eaten Indian Food for over 30 years and have always found it tasty and vibrant. But the main problem I've found is that most restaurants put out the same 20 or so greatest hits. Not Tabla. They bring a whole different perspective to the table. There food is tasty and savory. Not too spicy and very colorful. I got the Chicken Tiranga which is a mix of 3 different types. Butter Chicken , Chicken Tikka and Tandori Chicken. All served over a bed of onions, peppers and cabbage. This dish is very colorful and they represent the 3 colors of the Indian Flag. . I also ordered two staple items. Mango Lassi and Garlic Naan. The wait staff was excellent and attentive without hovering. We catered from Tabla recently and the food was really tasty. Manjesh, who took care of the delivery was also super helpful and prompt, and helped my wife work out the menu based on his experience with all of the catering they do. This is the first time we eaten here since the brand change/ownership change. This could have easily been a four provided the time promised and service. Overall the food was of good quality and flavor with the shrimp saag standing out the most as my favorite. It's definitely difficult to find good balance between the saltiness, creaminess and spinach, and the fact that shrimp was available was a pleasant surprise. With mild spice there was still a bit of heat to it so possibly the restaurant is a Hyderabadi influence still. Chicken tikka masala - the sauce was definitely closer to a sweet vodka sauce for pasta without the vodka, so probably more enjoyable for those that prefer much sweeter to less. Tomato and yogurt blend is well done and, again, a little heat for the mild. Chicken fried rice under the Indo-China menu was lacking noticeable spices, but good use of egg and diced green pepper, carrot, thinly sliced onion, cabbage. The fresh chutney which we had left over kebabs actually complemented this well. Recommend anyone to add this in. Sheek kebab was lukewarm but good spice blend with the lamb, and definitely medium heat. They were either prepared first or they don't travel well. We put our order in at 5:33 pm and were told 45 minutes to one hour. Fair enough. We showed up at 45 minutes and it looks like the banquets y'all was being used for engagement or wedding. Good on them for providing that service. The told us another 15 minutes so i took the kids to Redbox. Came back at 6:30 and was told 2 minutes and it was being boxed. Food finally came at 6:47 pm, meanwhile I see 7 to go orders on the shelf ready to go with times AFTER we ordered, most after 6 pm. When the food came, no apology, attempt to make it right, or acknowledgement that we sat there for another 15 minutes after the food was to be ready. Long story short, the service and fulfillment time has not improved under this new name or management, and/or they're biting off more than they can chew by staying open when they're catering an event. If you're a fan of Indian, I recommend you try it however we'll be sticking with driving the extra 10 minutes to stick with our current favorite place in Charlotte. read more

Ordered through door dash. Order the Tikka masala, a biryani dish, and chicken 65. Overall the food was not tasty and they only gave us half of a small styrofoam container of rice for the Tikka masala and did not provide rice for the chicken 65 dish. Also they provided the wrong chicken dish. The chicken 65 is supposed to be a dry dish however they provided a chicken dish not as described with a lot of curry sauce. Finally on the Tikka. The Tikka came in a very small plastic container that you would normally get a small portion of wonton soup in. Overall the food was definitely not worth the price. There are plenty of Indian restaurants in the area that provide better tasting food in larger portions for a better price. read more

Service was unbelievably slow. They messed up our order and it was kind of them to take it off of our bill. Food was even more disappointing. Very good Indian Authentic restaurant. Most of the menus are from south India, so if you like South Indian food, This Is The Place For You! Veg platter was for just $8.99+ tax, and has unlimited refills. They also have Mango Lassi ( mango shake) which is also unlimited and it is very good. I would definitely recommend you going here. The food at Tabla was awesome and the staff pleasant and courteous. The menu was wide enough to satisfy all in my group, and the portions size matched the price, plus we each had a take-home box. The atmosphere was OK and our table of four had no problems conversing and drinking. I will most heartily return. So why not 5 stars? The menu's description of each meal was lacking enough information (particularly for novice consumers of Indian food) and staff though friendly were not helpful or appeared unknowledgeable in this area. I eat here at least once or twice a month. The best value on the menu is the lunch thali. The assortment varies each day, but it typically comes with a tikka masala, a spicy curry or saag, a samosa, an appetizer, a cup of rice, a dessert (usually gulab jamun, somtimes halwa), a full piece (4 wedges) of naan or roti, and some kind of snack (usually papadums). The non-vegetarian thali is always all chicken items, including the appetizer (usually a Manchurian chicken, tandooi, or kebab meat). When ordering delivery via UberEats, all this is only $14 but even a few dollars less in person. Their soups and biryanis are also quite good. There are only 2 issue I've had. For one, occasionally when ordering delivery there is a missing item, though 90% of the time it is complete and correct. Secondly, the spice level is quite variable. Many items (including all thali items) don't offer a spice level selection, and often many (or even all) of the items are quite spicy, while other times it is reasonable. I enjoy spicy foods, but sometimes it's a bit much. Most recently, even the papadum was so spicy that it made me cough, but it was still tasty. read more

Since we were the only non Indian people, we assumed it was authentic. A little disappointed there were no Dosas on the menu. But there were several naan choices. Disappointed there was no iced tea. It doesn't matter the ethnicity of restaurants. People in the south like iced tea. We started with Gobi 65, which was the spicy cauliflower. Very good! For my entree, I ordered the butter chicken. Another great dish that made me forget the yellow surroundings and the annoying noises. When I asked for a beer after we finished the meal, I thought they were having to brew one up for me. So slow. The food was good and it salvaged the entire experience. They could make it a better experience, with more efficient service and some art on the walls and less harsh colors! So glad a friend told me about this place. It's been a few different spots but right now I feel it's the best Indian food in South Charlotte that's not Blue Taj. This is perfect for takeout or Door Dash delivery. We've done with now. We get Chicken Tiranga which us 3 color chicken. 3 different flavors that are all really good. If we have any leftover we use it to add to the leftover Butter and Chicken Tikka we also order every time. We also order extra basmati rice for leftovers.
