We took our friends recently to Tabla. This was our second visit and the food/service did not disappoint! We ordered the Gobi Manchurian for appetizers which was good. I wish it had a bit of more sauce on it but the flavors were great nonetheless! For the entree, I had the malai kofta and my husband had lamb chops. (He had the lamb chops on our first visit and decided to get it again since he loved it so much!) The malai kofta which is basically vegetarian fried balls in a spicy creamy sauce was delicious. It was filling and I liked the garlic naan as well! It was my friends birthday and our waiter overheard, he brought out a small chocolate cake with ice cream which was delicious. Honestly terrible, after almost 2 hours of wait we sat down and explained to our waiter the dietary restrictions we had. The waiter then rudely said we have nothing for you. We were shocked, but we were very hungry so we asked about one menu item and he said we can make it. Then I we wait and wait. People after us with bigger order getting their food and we keep asking and our waiter says it will come. Then it finally comes and I can whole heartedly say that it was not up to standard. For the price it was mediocre, not bad but not good. On top of this the restaurant was loud and rowdy because customers were complaining on the wait time, with fairness you can't say 45 minute wait time then have customers wait for beyond 2 hours. After an already bad experience the same waiter comes with the bill and the tip range is shocking, starting at 25 percent. He doesn't even walk away, instead he stands there looking at what tip my mom will give. This caused her to be anxious and not see the custom tip option, but if a waiter is looking over your shoulder on what tip you will give them then you will be pressured and angered. She gave him a zero tip, as it was an option, and he stormed off with anger. Honestly one of the worst if not the worst experience I have had at a restaurant and I don't recommend this place. read more

I feel horrible because my wife and I came to this restaurant a while ago and I promised that I would yelp, but time got away from me. Maybe I can redeem myself. For me, this is one of the hidden gems of Park Avenue. The unique combinations of cultures allow you to eat at "multiple" cultures and multiple regions in one restaurant. The food was amazing. We did not have a bad dish and they feed you well. We left full, and we felt we got our money's worth. The only minus is the place is small, but there's seating outside on the Ave if you want more atmosphere. My advice: don't walk past this place. So many times we focus on the big guys, but this place will not disappoint you. The other thing is the staff is humble. they were really easy to work with and very accommodating. Last night my husband and I came to Tabla for my birthday dinner. From the time we sat down until the time we left was complete perfection. It's such a pretty spot and the decoration was very nice. Tucked away off the hustle and bustle of Park Ave, follow the koi to the magnificent large tree (next to Le Macaron) and be inspired! We visited at lunch time, they have a generous lunch menu that includes a soup, main entrée, rice, naan and a dessert. The service was kind, prompt and so helpful is deciding what would be totally satisfying! FOOD // we had to try their samosas (my favorite); a blend of potatoes and peas, the dough was cripsy and tender. Not heavy at all. The tamarind sauce was a nice touch, not too sweet but did add a fruity note. As part of the lunch special, we were served the Lemon Coriander soup. It was a beautiful bright broth, full of citrus notes. It was very refreshing. For our mains, we ordered the Chana Masala (medium heat) and Kadai Chicken (spicy). The portions were very generous! The chana masala was pleasant with warm spices and perfectly cooked chickpeas. The kadai chicken was fully of lovely aromatics, I even pulled a whole bay leaf. The chicken was fall apart tender and made my heart happy! The accompanying jasmine rice was fluffy - beware of the cardamon pods! And can you even go wrong with naan? Their version is buttery and soft. I could eat many baskets of that! For dessert, we were served a sweet little finish, Gulab Jamon. A simple syrup soaked donut. This sweet bite was the perfect end to help calm the friendly spiciness of our meal. If you're looking for a place to dip your toe into the world of Indian cuisine, I highly recommend Tabla! Really tasteless Indian food. Disclaimer: I don't like my Indian food with a lot of heat but I do love flavor. The Butter Chicken really disappointed. I had it earlier in the week at the kiosk in the Apna Bazaar and theirs was fab even though it wasn't spicy hot. Had Tabla's fried cauliflower with "Manchuria" sauce: the cauliflower florets were over battered and the sauce was an overly salty combination of something like ketchup, soy, and hoisin. I have never eaten at an Indian restaurant before so when my buddy Mike asked if I wanted to go to lunch at an Indian place I quickly said yes. The place we were originally going to go unfortunately closed at 3pm for a couple hour break before dinner service and we just didn't get there in time. We jumped on here and found Tabla. He had never been here before and I had nothing to compare it too. So, off we went. The restaurant is set inside a small high end shopping mall in the Park Ave district of Winter Park, FL. They offer out door seating, indoor patio seating, and in restaurant seating. We opted for the indoor patio which placed us underneath a big indoor tree and adjacent to some indoor Koi ponds. We ordered a couple of different things and shared. We started with the Vegetable Samosas. A crisp, deep fried pastry filled with potatoes and peas served with two different dipping sauces. The samosas had a bit of a spice and the sauces paired very well. As for our main course we ordered 2 different entrees and shared, giving us the opportunity to try a couple of things. Me never having Indian food we thought we would order a staple and get the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken cooked with Tomato-Coriander sauce flavored with Bell Peppers & Onions. It was very good and I enjoyed it. We asked for it medium spicy. The chicken was moist and tender and the sauce was very flavorful and robust. The second entree we ordered was Malai Kofta. This is a North Indian Delicacy made with Vegetable balls cooked in a Creamy Tomato-Fenugreek Sauce. These were delicious. They came served on a bowl, covered in the sauce. The balls tender and when cut open were perfect for absorbing the sauce. Not to spicy abut loaded with flavor. Both dishes were served with a side of rice and we ordered a side of garlic Nann bread the was beautifully fired and had the perfect amount of oil and garlic on it. For my first experience with Indian food this was definitely a winner. I look forward to trying it again and I will for sure be learning how to cook some. read more

Disappointed. We know this place is good -- we've experienced it. But we were thoroughly let down by the service on 12.27.21. We had thought ahead, knowing it's the holidays and snagged a 7:30pm reservation for 6. Everyone local and their tourist brethren would be on Park Ave during the week leading up to New Years, so the reservation was pretty essential. We showed up at 7:25pm and the restaurant was packed -- next to no seats anywhere to be found the servers were trying their best to keep up. There was a host who was doubling as the takeout manager, trying to keep up with both -- not easy. All the while, about 5 parties waiting to be seated, each with 4-6 folks. The host got our name, but didn't seem to have any record of any reservations, yet when walk ups would happen, they would turn those folks away, saying they would only take reservations. One walk up party of 6 actually made a reservation with the host for 20-30 minutes later (pro move by them, tbh). We waited for 10 minutes and nearly half the restaurant finished their meals and left, but no one was bussing tables to sit those of us waiting. We checked in with the host every 5 minutes or so, even offering to bus tables, but he and the other servers just seemed overwhelmed. We waited 25 minutes past our reservation and literally no one having been sat in a half-empty restaurant, we cut our losses and moved on. Throughout the struggle, the staff was still kind and hoe stay doing the best they could. Taba is nice . Customer service isn't the most welcoming or the most attentive but it isn't horrible. Sitting outside under the tree isn't bad at all . Noise level is very minimal and the food is pretty authentic . Nothing special to go out of your way for but if you're in the area and have a taste for authentic Chinese/Indian food , i would recommend it. We were greeted by our wonderful waiter, Naresh, who was really on top of things. We never were in need of anything. The restaurant itself is beautiful and tucked away from Park Ave. we started with the Indian craft beer called Bira. It was refreshing and paired perfectly with our meal. We ordered coconut shrimp ( perfectly cooked), lemon coriander soup and a lentil coconut soup( forgot the name). Both soups came out nice and hot and seasoned to perfection. Our main meals of Chicken Tikka, Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken were all authentic and spiced to our liking. The atmosphere was relaxing and service top notch.
