This review is for 3.5 stars. Table 509 inside the Indigo hotel serves ups some really delicious breakfast. I had steak and eggs a couple times and it was delicious. The steak had nice grill marks on the exterior but was still juicy and tender. The potatoes were nicely roasted and they did good on the eggs. I enjoyed my hearty breakfast each morning. My friends also got their breakfast burritos and bagel. Theirs looks good too. The downside was that we noticed the first day that they took a very long time to bring out our orders that a couple of us had to request for it to-go but they forgot our toast. We came earlier the following day so we wouldn't have to rush. The servers seemed like they were stressed and were trying to keep it together. The area offers plenty of seats to accommodate any group size. read more

I stayed at Hotel Indigo and they offered $15 food/drink voucher per night. Of course I had to take advantage of this! I ordered room service from here twice. It was to get a hold of them and get my order in. Angel was my server for both encounters. He was very polite and considerate. I ordered the breakfast burrito with sausage and another time it was with bacon. I don't think I saw any tater tots in my breakfast burrito though. It came with salsa verde and it was a great pairing because it needed some spice. The second time I ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon and the tater tots were much more noticeable. This bar & kitchen is located inside the Indigo Hotel. Food and hospitality were awesome! Sarah is an amazing waitress, full of energy and is a ray of sunshine. Robert is the man! His bartending skills are quite excellent. He definitely has some skill behind that bar. Other than the Sarah and Robert show, the other staff members were nice. Located in a Hotel lobby walked by this place. A traditional breakfast menu and nice establishment gives it a nice feel. Nothing really stands out here except ambience. Went with blueberry pancakes and a two egg Plate. Pancakes were super fluffy but burnt outside and doughy inside. Bacon definitely day old. Service wasn't the best, or even average. We enjoyed breakfast here every day of our trip and ended up trying many things on the menu - Island Avenue Parfait, Soyrizo Scramble, Cali Sausage Burrito, 509 Chilaquiles, Triple Threat Scramble. Everything was delicious, particularly the Soyrizo Scramble. Sooo good! But what really made this experience wonderful was Sergio. He was super friendly, attentive, shared tons of knowledge and advice with us about local culture, things to do, and history of both San Diego and Tijuana. We came here to try their Breakfast at a place called TABLE 509 BAR and KITCHEN. It's actually located inside the Hotel Indigo. This place is a walking distance from PETCO PARK, like you can see the Petco Park stadium from the entrance of Hotel Indigo, where the restaurant is. The entrance to this restaurant is at the main Lobby of the Indigo Hotel. I don't see any Dress code since most of the people who are dinning are Tourists. They have Breakfast and Dinner, but their Dinner is not back yet, they are only serving Breakfast. They also have a Roof top Bar that I did not get to see 'coz they open at 5 pm. I got to explore the inside of this Hotel 'coz the Bathroom for 509 Kitchen and Bar is located all the way to the other side of the Hotel. Our server was really Fast and he let us choose where to sit. I chose the table next to this Rain Curtain. I expected to hear rain fall sounds, but it was so quiet, the water falling continuously was so Pretty to see while we were next to it while eating. We ordered: *2 COFFEES *509 CHILAQUILES *INDIGO SCRAMBLER My husband's breakfast was simple, but good. I'm not sure if the Chilaquiles had the right taste 'coz I've never had Chilaquiles before. It's kind of a bit Sour, but with Hot Sauce and egg it was good. Located in the lobby of Hotel Indigo at the Northeast corner of 9th and Island, we stopped by here for dessert and cocktails at the bar to cap off our night in Downtown San Diego. The place looked very nice. Aside from a great looking bar area and sexy tables, there was also a "water wall". No, it didn't splash all over the place, so that's a plus. My girlfriend requested a virgin cocktail with ginger beer, and it was excellently-made. It contained ginger beer, ancho chili, honey, and another ingredient I don't remember. Whatever it was, it tasted great. She did not miss alcohol at all, as it left her feeling very satisfied as if she had an alcoholic drink. The chocolate cake we had was also delicious. It was garnished with strawberries as well as a base of chocolate and caramel sauce. It wasn't very busy when we were there. Perhaps it was at a part of downtown that didn't have very much traffic. Also, there was no event or baseball game happening at Petco Park yet for the season, so that made sense. I'm sure they get much more traffic when there is something going on there. Parking: Tough. Find street parking, especially after 6pm when meters, yellow spots, and green spots are free without time limit for the rest of the night. There are also structures if you don't want your car out in the open for people to see and touch. FYI: - It's not the cheapest, so don't expect any deals or bargains. However, more expensive doesn't necessarily mean better, as our server/bartender recommended a cheaper and simpler drink to pair with our dessert. - Service is very good. Yelp is suggesting me to consider "food, service, and ambiance" in here, which I have to say have all been my favorite experience at a restaurant within a hotel in the US. Actually, it ranks well above a lot of other breakfast places I've tried through Yelp reviews. The convenience would have been enough, but I loved the diversity of selection options while still maintaining a theme of American tastes. The ingredients weren't skimped on like I see so often with American breakfasts. Lastly, like a lot of people in here, Sergio was our friendly and memorable host that really sold me on this place. Convenience Hotel restaurants should take care of the basic restaurant needs of the guests. This place does that. It serves food in a hotel. The location and open wall-less exterior are a nice comfortable architectural arrangement. It is right by Petco Baseball stadium. And it is working on being hip (flower/plant arranging class during happy hour, constant music). The hip nonstop music, lead me to take my breakfast and coffee somewhere else to find a quiet enough place for a phone call. It is a bar, and the drinks came out of bottles. Very little unique. There are 4 beers on tap which can be ordered as a flight. Food is also basic. Happy hour had no food choices (2 dollars off a 15 dollar beer or 3 off a 14 glass of wine-not enough to really call it a happy hour. Service was slow and difficult. read more

Food was so good we were in San Diego for four days at dined at Table 509 three times! The restaurant inside of Hotel Indigo in the Gaslamp area. I managed my expectations since "hotel restaurants" can be a toss up. Arriving back to the hotel hungry and tried from a conference, we decided to give it a try. The chicken burrito bowl was absolutely amazing! Tender, slowed roasted chicken (has a slightly smokiness taste but forgot to ask if it was smoked), with black beans, lettuce, cilantro rice, corn, pico de gallo and a cilantro cream. I snapped a pic of the dish only to send back home with the message, "Recreate this dish!" All the ingredients were fresh, and fun plating and good portion size. My colleague ordered the TJ fish tacos and enjoyed them. Her meal came with chips and salsa. The house made chips were seasoned with tajin seasoning and maybe a bit of salt. They were absolutely delicious, we asked for seconds. We ordered a slice of double chocolate cake that was deelish, and easily fed two. On to breakfast! Two words people: Harbor Pancakes. OMG! So good we have them two days in a row! Warning, it's large portion that feeds two hungry people. Buttermilk stuffed banana pancakes with candy bacon pecans, and maple butter. We made the "mistake" of ordering this goodness before we headed to our conference for the day (what we really needed was a nap lol). The pancakes are served with a side of fresh fruit and we added a side of sausage. The service was great, very personable and accommodating, and good pricing. I came to table 509 to watch a college football game while staying at the hotel. I was actually impressed. It's not easy to do a bar right in a hotel but table 509 hits the mark. I dropped in late last night to pick up some protein rich snackies and was definitely a bit disappointed at the entire experience. I got to the bar and quickly scanned the menu. Originally wanting a burger I switched to steak tacos last minute just in case (a coworkers husband picked up a case of FP from a burger recently). I ordered, checked in and showed him my 20% off coupon. While looking at the menu my hip had started to hurt so I asked for to-go, only realizing when I paid and got up to leave that I never got the 20% off. Getting back up to the room they had put the box in the bag upside down so my meal wasn't really tacos any more. The meat was overly spiced and not the least bit tender. Hard and dry under the copious pico they'd slathered on. The service was offhandedly polite and nothing made made me a fan of 509. Ah well. We are staying at the Hotel Indigo while repairs are made on our condo and have now been here for over a week. So...needless to say we have dined at Table 509 quite a bit for breakfast, lunch & dinners. All of which have been great. Their menu isn't extensive, but what they do offer is delish. My favorites have been the Margherita Flatbread, Sweet Potato Fries, Filet Mignon and the burger. Everything here is really fresh, flavorful and creatively presented. Much better than most hotel restaurants in my opinion. Another nice part is that they are extremely dog friendly here, so much so that our dog enjoyed most meals with us and they even let your pup sit on the chairs or benches while you dine. We also enjoyed the rooftop bar with firepits, amazing views and my favorite part the doggie pool and grass area. Love it! Both on the rooftop and in the dining room the service was right on target. We never waited for anything and all the staff is genuinely kind, helpful and friendly. Couldn't have asked for a better dining experience while we were away from our home. read more

I've had lovely meals at Table 509. It's located next to the Hotel Indigo lobby with a good number of seats and a bar area.The Happy Hour looks promising, but I've only had breakfast and lunch here. For breakfast, I've tried the Croissant Sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese. It was good, but the diced potato hashbrowns were really good. Their Chilaquiles was even more delicious. Perfect salsa, egg, and crispy tortilla chips. For lunch, the Wedge Salad was creatively prepared, and tasted wonderful for its portion. With only handful of patrons dining during these times, the service was excellent. And even from ground level, the view isn't so bad either, especially when they open up their large windows. After these great experiences, Table 509 has become one of my favorite hotel restaurants. Don't forget that this is a dog-friendly property, so feel free to bring your pups with you here or upstairs at their rooftop bar! read more

I stayed at the hotel so this was the easiest option by far. It is one of the best hotel bar/grills I've ever been to, and I strongly suspect it flies under the radar due to its attachment to the hospitality industry. There were plenty of guests here but also happy hour-type groups. My burger was juicy and just the right size--not too big to wrap my mouth around it, and not as small as some trendy queue burger chain. It came with a steak knife sticking out of it and some skinny fries sprinkled with delicious truffle oil (upgrade). They had some very decent beers on tap, though the Red Trolley was kind of meh (it's all over San Diego as it turns out, sort of a mass-produced "craft beer"). Professional service and you can watch your games on the nice, big TVs without any nutty sports bar shenanigans. read more

Views from here are beautiful. You can see Petco park and all around downtown as well as the Coronado bridge. It has a grassy area for dogs to...well...you know. That's not a lot of fun to watch. It's to the left of the bar in the corner so there's plenty of other places to sit. Lots of outdoor couch and lounge type seating. We got 20% off for checking in with Yelp. My wife and I stopped by on two different nights for some late night snacks. They were out of calamari both times! We ended up trying the ribs, garlic fries, and sweet potato fries. The food was good. One of the times we were there, the waitress charged full price for items that should have been discounted for happy hour. Our last morning in San Diego... where to eat? I had hoped my sis and I would have a long afternoon before heading back to our respective homes in Houston and Scottsdale, but no, she had to be home to see to her children in the afternoon, but we still could grab breakfast before she left for the airport. Since we didn't have much time to try another breakfast bookmark, and since she'd seen that a check-in at our hotel's restaurant would grant us 20% off, we decided we'd see what it was all about. (We'd been to the the hotel's rooftop bar the night before and had a great experience, so perhaps breakfast would also be nice.) Aside from being a tad pricey, and we'd already expected that, it turned out to be a good meal. I already had my mind set on grabbing an almond croissant at the Market Hall nearby and another mocha at Copa Vida at the corner on the next block, so I just ordered black coffee, while sis wanted coffee and a San Diego Scramble, which came with two eggs and your choice of three items (she wanted ham, bacon, and spinach), fresh fruit, and choice of toast for $13. Coffee was delicious, and I was able to have a few bites of the delectable scramble. The pieces of ham were Goldilocks-perfect (not too big, not too small) and seared- some were pleasingly-caramelized- and the chopped bacon pieces were thick, crispy, and not too salty. Spinach leaves looked bright and tasted fresh. Presentation was nicely-done, so even at $13 a plate, it didn't feel like we were being ripped off dining at a hotel restaurant. The atmosphere at Table 509 was elegant, even in the morning, but it definitely would've been very nice to spend time here during the evenings. Bartender Myke was our server (I believe that's how his name was sewn into his shirt) was very pleasant. Since he spent a few childhood years near Houston, he and sister had a nice conversation of the areas they were familiar with. Valentines Day is one of those special days when you show your better half how much they mean to you. I was at a conference on San Diego and that fell right in line with Valentines Day, fortunately my girlfriend had some extra PTO and decided to make the visit with me. I knew there was a street fair on Fifth street on Valentines Day so a lot of the restaurants would be occupied. So had to go to Plan B, which would be hotel we were staying at since it was light showers outside. The Hotel Indigo's restaurant "Table 509" offered a Valentines Day special and we decided to check it out the Fixe Menu for couples. The main offering was halibut and a New York steak plus a choice of a white and or red wine. We started out with a slight hitch, our salad was running a little late so the chef offered us a complimentary shrimp with risotto appetizer. Then the waiter brought us the wedge salad with cherry tomatoes, sweet bacon and choice of dressing. We both selected the halibut with sprouts, macadamia nuts on top of bed of small red potatoes as the main course. The halibut was baked to perfection. We finished off our Valentine's Day dinner with a delicious chocolate mousse cake, vanilla ice cream with a fruit glaze on top.
