We ordered chicken wings-- comes with 8 and several sauce selections. Nicely crispy. The salad with baby bib lettuce really hit the spot with carmelized walnuts, fresh sweet bib lettuce and lots of other toppings and a nice light vinaigrette dressing. Flatbread pizza was a surprise also. Crust was cooked through and good mix of toppings with fresh mozzarella. Brussel sprouts were heavy with a creamy sauce but full of toppings of bacon, onions and herbs. Brussels sprouts were cooked well. We ordered a pizza, not sure what it was called but it had both meat and veggies on it. It was filling and good! Decided to come here for a team lunch since it was right across from work. The menu looked promising, especially the cubano. My coworker and i decided to split the crispy pork belly cubano, funghi flatbread and the truffle fries. Cubano was just ok. The pork belly was a little dry. The flatbread was just ok as well but we felt like it was lacking something. We enjoyed the truffle fries the most. It was pretty empty but we came right when it opened. Lots of seating. Very quiet on a Tuesday afternoon. Naturally, received attentive, pleasant service. I enjoyed a draft beer, pepporoni pizza and the bibb wedge salad. The pizza was descent, I prefer a crisper crust but the proportion of sauce, cheese and pepporoni was perfect. The bibb salad was just as tasty as it was pretty! We were staying at the Embassy Suites while spending the weekend down in San Diego and after spending the day exploring the city we decided to try New York West for dinner since it's conveniently located in the hotel. We ordered their oven fired pizza called the Cugine which has a garlic ranch sauce with chicken, bacon, basil and mozzarella cheese. It was very very tasty! My wife and I are local to San Diego, but like to get a room at the Marriott during Comic Con to make a proper outing of it. Saturday night we stopped here for dinner after a long day on the show floor. The young lady who came to greet us did so with the enthusiasm of someone who had been helping tourists and out of towners all weekend (she did not look happy). We asked for an outside table but she only offered us the bar. Hungry and ready for some food, we took our seats and were warmly welcomed by probably the best staff member they've got: Cody. Cody welcomed us with a smile and positive attitude and got to taking care of our food and drink orders. Being a bartender, he was juggling about 8-10 people at any given time, but was excellent at anticipating our needs. For example, we ordered some fries and before we could even think to ask for it, he grabbed a ketchup bottle and slid it in front of us while heading to another patron further down the bar. He really had his head on a swivel and engaged and stayed on top of everyone's needs. The food itself wasn't revolutionary, but solid. My wife and I shared a hawaiian flatbread, caesar salad and garlic parmesan fries. The fries were the best. Cody single handedly saved the experience for us. Chances are if we stuck around and the service was anything like the first impression, it would've been a 3 or less. The right staff can make all the difference. For starters I cannot say anything about the pizza besides that it's great, I ordered a very straightforward pie with meat, veggies, red sauce, cheese, etc. The crust was just thick enough and crispy. It's a small venue, full bar, sports on TV, etc. The hostess could have shown some customer interest or personality, but other than that, it was okay. This place is nice but definitely has a sports bar vibe. Lots of New York themed photos on the wall. We got there late so they were only serving food for 20 more minutes. They were really nice about making sure our orders got in and we got everything that we wanted. We ordered Cheesy Bolognsese & Rigatoni, Basil Pesto Spaghetti, and S'more Lava Cake. The Bolognsese pasta was not my favorite but I think it's just the pasta style. It was well cooked and the pasta sauce was plentiful (and very full of ground beef). The s'mores cake was so thick and moist. It was fun to have the toasted marshmallows on top but they and the graham crackers weren't actually incorporated into the cake. Very accommodating to our family with children. We weren't hotel guests or there for a conference - I didn't even realize it was adjacent to the Embassy Suites until we got there. We got a table with no wait for dinner. Loved the soft pretzel! We were staying at the hotel and were totally wiped out from traveling one day and Legoland the other that we ate here two times on our trip! I would eat here again. I didn't get a good look at the inside because we just did takeout both times and ate in our room. I can confirm that there are tables and chairs! My experience with the staff was limited, but I found them polite and professional. The order was correct both times and they gave us utensils. I ordered the pepperoni pizza one night and Mediterranean salad the other. The pizza was good not great. The Mediterranean salad needed a lot more dressing than I got and was mostly lettuce. The other ingredients were pretty sparse. I definitely recommend if you are staying at the hotel. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Chicken wings: cooked well and were juicy. But 6 for 19$ not a great deal at all. Shrimp pasta with bacon and breadsticks i think 29$. Needed more sauce. Good amount of bacon, needed more shrimp. The breadsticks were thin, but good. Hawaiian flatbread: around 24$ and was not good. I would never like hawaiian pizza if this was my first experience. Very bland. Service: 1/5 Chris was attentive to us but before him we waited like 10 minutes to be seated and other patrons got restless and started seating themselves. They seemed short staffed so hopefully they hire more to have faster service. Can't say I recommend this restaurant or will be back. Glad to say I tried it though in case I or anyone else I know stays at the hotel and needs to use the 25$ credit. read more

The food here is ok for hotel restaurant fare. The service...not so much. We sat at the bar as we often do when we dine out, and it was almost 15 minutes before anyone took our order. No, it was not busy. When someone did finally take our order, the greeting was lukewarm. There was a young lady singing and playing the guitar in the lounge, somewhat amateurish and VERY loud for this relatively small space. They have a decent selection of tequila and whiskey and some local craft beer offerings. We got the charcuterie plate to go and when we got back to the room a short while later we were very disappointed with what we saw. It was not appetizing at all. Basic black olives tossed in with some seasoned peanuts, greasy sliced meat and half melted cheese. Maybe we were here on a bad night. read more

Fast and friendly service here! The prices are comparable to the same meals in other restaurants. Their location is attached to the Embassy Suites, but they have an entrance from both inside the hotel and outside. I ordered a hamburger with a lettuce wrap and a side of fries. My friend ordered the same, but with a side of mustard too. She picked up the order and when she got back to our room she noticed the mustard was missing. We were also surprised that there was not one napkin in the to-go order. Other than that everything was great. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were very good, though they were a bit salty. I enjoy salt so that was fine with me. We also got a lot of fries and I got ketchup too so I was happy. We would definitely go back here again, but we hope they can maybe expand their menu a little bit at some point. If not, it's cool, but we would only come here for more burgers. read more

Yes this is the the best. I have been coming here for about five years every time I come to the embassy suites. Before Covid the shrimp dishes were to die for. But unfortunately since the virus they have to reduce the menu. Sad to say the virus has hit us very hard. So here I am partaking of there menu again. Their pizza are great. I ordered the truffle fries. They tasted good but mostly like regular fry's with parmesan cheese on top. Not special. My husband ordered a pizza he would rate it 3/5, my daughter and I got Alfredo which with both really like and my mom got fettuccine and clams, she did like it. The server her brought our food and the server who checked on us after we're different then the gal who originally took our order. They were both kind and attentive. We ate our food with no complaints however I don't think I would eat here again. I want to finish off this review with bringing up our originally server again. She was very kind to our daughter but continued to call us pet names with every interaction. She even gave my husband a drink and called him "Good Looking". Found this place by chance. GF and I attended Padres game (left before they won in extra innings). We walk to Gaslamp and it looked like a super spreader event. People packed in with no masks. Ordinarily this would be a great place to eat & drink. Started walking and came across a BBQ restaurant along Pacific Coast Highway. While we waited to be seated, we looked them up on Yelp, bad reviews so we ran away as fast as we could. Another 2-3 blocks and we found New York West and it was still open. We had a nice table outside on patio & there was a flat screen so we could see Padres win their game. Menu has been modified but had many options to our liking. We settled on the Metza pizza and the garlic Parmesan wings. Pizza had a lot of meat, thin crust that was nice and chewy. The wings could possibly be the best I ever had. Service was good and waiter gave good beer selections based upon our preferences. As we dined, several groups arrived but the kitchen was already closed. I was staying at the hotel for work with a colleague and wanted to grab some beers before calling it a night - we arrived about 2 hours before close. After about 45 minutes they turned off the TV, started stacking chairs and forced us to close our tab. We asked if their closing time listed online was wrong and they said they decided to close early that night, even though we were mid-beer. They gave us 10 minutes to finish our beers (which were overpriced). And it's not like we were drunk or rude, in fact we were just casually chatting to each other only the whole time. This place wouldn't be in business if it weren't attached to a large hotel. read more
