I live in Oakland but travel to Concord to have dinner with some friends. I haven't had sushi lately, but this was worth the drive. If I can give more than five stars, I would. The service was excellent, and the waiters were very friendly. We ordered many plates to try as we have a large group. Every item was nicely displayed. The raw tuna and salmon were all very fresh and delicious! The restaurant sits inside a large parking lot. The restaurant itself was nice and spotless. I wish I remembered all the dishes we ate to share, but apparently, I couldn't remember all. However, for the appetizer, we started with the cucumber shrimp salad and the seaweed salad. I am not a fan of seaweed, but this dish was unique and quite tasty. I love them all! Oh, by the way, you got to try their soft shell crab and their beef yakitori, and the beef was so lovely and soft. Anyhow, I am hoping to gather a few friends and come back again. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night. We walked in and waited to be seated it took some time to be seated even though the restaurant wasn't full and staff was moving about. After we were seated other parties who came in after us were seated immediately. We ordered 4 simple rolls. They brought us out 3 of them and we never received our fourth roll. We asked the waitress about it and when she returned with it, she seemed to have an attitude about it. The rolls were okay. It wasn't amazing sushi but it wasn't bad either. This place is pretty average at best. The good news: The place is a very short distance from my house, so walking is not a problem. The bad news: I will never be coming back here, so the distance does not matter. The staff wear the best fake smiles I have ever seen. Catch it quick, because as soon as you see the smile appear on their face, just like that it's gone. They are very short with all the customers, almost throwing the checks down on the tables before quickly scurrying away. The green tea was VERY fragrant, and really tasted funny. I ordered the Steve's maki roll, and a spicy tuna roll. Both rolls looked the same when they were brought out on the same plate: Six small pieces, covered in sauce. I have never had a spicy tuna roll with sauce on it, except maybe from Safeway, and never this much of it. The only way to know the difference was to try each one. Steve's roll comes with yellow fin tuna, and another type of fish I can't remember. The fish on the rolls did taste fresh; however, the rice was extremely gummy, and at points hard to swallow. My absolute favorite place to go for sushi. I have tried other places around town and this one is by far my favorite. Steve, the owner, always greets me by name and takes fabulous care of me. The staff is really friendly, and the sushi is hands-down the best around. Their signature salad dressing is also fantastic. I usually buy it in a half a quart to go. My favorite rolls.... Tried the donburi (katsudon and teridon) and were not impressed. I ordered the teridon thinking that one can never go wrong with Vietnamese folks preparing grilled pork. Alas, the pork teriyaki came mildly grilled with minimal grilled marks and drizzled with the usual overly sweet tasteless sauce then accompanied by cooked bean sprout over rice. Pork was bland and not tasty. Katsudon was subpar and thoughtlessly served with some napa cabbage tossed in with the egg and rice. About the complimentary items: miso soup was very salty and the lightly pickled cabbage dish tasted like it was prepared many hours ago. Only the green bean tasted ok. Green tea ($0.50 pax) did not taste or smell good. Did not dare try their sushi. read more

Its a pity this place is not recognized as one of the most creative and outstanding places to visit within the local area. Otherwise you lose a sense of satisfaction each time you pass this place. Cons: Wait time was about 20 min on a Friday night. No hostess just a sign in sheet on a clip board. The gyoza was so greasy it was dripping oil. Upon the first bite we both had to spit it out as the meat inside was bad. My plate was dirty and had greasy finger prints on it. Prices were a little high. Pros: Sushi was good and tasted fine. The rating is strictly for the sushi. They have pretty basic rolls, but I am not satisfied with them since they don't have a lot of options. Also, they don't make anything really spicy enough for my taste. The biggest bummer? They don't carry jalapeños. There is only so much you can do with sriracha... As for the other food? I think it's ok. The teriyaki beef is decent, and so is the tonkatsu (which is really crunchy and has a great panko crust). The serving sizes are great for the price you pay. My family all wanted Panda Express. I was in the mood for sushi. There was a roll that sounded similar to a roll I loved from another place in Walnut Creek. I ordered to go to take next door. I ordered the Godzilla roll (was in the mood for crunchy deep fried roll). I usually don't get a fried roll. After I paid at the back counter. I looked around and there were papers everywhere and seemed dirty & cluttered. I thought, ewh, well it's far from where they prepare the food. I should have taken a picture. Ready to eat my roll. The roll was suppose to have avacado. I swear there was no avacado! It was tuna (not tasty) with no avacado. In general there was no flavor. Nothing compared to the fried roll I have had at a different place. I went back to tell them after I had a roll and the woman said the avacado was fried. She pretty much just kept saying the avacado is fried. She was rude, practically shushing me away. So I guess when it's fried the avacado disappears at this restaurant. In any case, I don't recommend this place. Not impressed at all. Service to go wasn't good. Place felt dirty and the roll I got was awful. Next time I'll wait to go to my other favorite sushi spots. Review based on dinner visit last Friday, around 6:30 PM. Pros: -Tempura appetizer was good- very hot and fresh, not greasy. -Nice restaurant interior. Nothing too fancy but clean. Booths are the way to go; they have a few tables for 2 that looked way too small. - Tammi's Maki roll was good but had way too much sauce on it. Order it with light or no sauce and it's a winner. Cons: -Teriyaki is mediocre. The salmon and beef are both well cooked but there is almost no teriyaki flavor. The sauce was way too lightly seasoned. Even adding soy sauce did not help too much. Portions were on the small side. - The salad that came with the dinner was drowned in dressing. The dressing itself was tasty- like 1000 Island but with a soy/ginger kick- but it was WAY too much. -Diet coke came in a can. I hate this; if you can't install a proper tap/fountain, then don't serve soda unless you state on the menu that it is a can. Canned soda does not taste like fresh soda from a tap! Verdict: Was not bad per se, just average over all. Some positives and some negatives. Will probably return in a few weeks or months to try something different, like the udon or sukiyaki. Stay away from the teriyaki, though. read more

I came here around 530pm and ordered items to go. It seemed fairly busy so I figured it should be could however I was sadly disappointed. I ordered two California maki (California roll) and chicken teriyaki. California maki was small, overly sweet, and the soft crab dry and tasteless. The chicken teriyaki was small cheap cut up dry chicken pieces with skin and gristle. The sauce overly salty and liquified. The salad was warm and wilted next to the chicken portion, the pickled veggies limp and old. Overall one star given for fast speedy service. My advice would be don't waste your money. read more

Tachi sushi bar has the best selection of fresh sushi choices. My favorite is their juicy, plump tachi chicken and tempura combo dinner plate with crisp, tender pieces of tempura shrimp and veggies. Their miso soup is the best I've ever had, with the right size and amount of tofu, seaweed and green onions. Their house salad is so delicious, best I've had in any sushi bar, the dressing so tangy, creamy and sweet. And they are the only sushi bar I've been to that has these amazing string beans with peanut/soy bean sauce. My favorite sushi would have to be the temgi maki with juicy, fresh, crispy pieces of shrimp tempura topped with very fresh pieces of tender unagi freshwater eel meat with avacado and sesame seeds with their special sweet sauce drizzled on top of the roll. read more

Went to Tachi Sushi tonight for dinner with my family, it was a pretty crummy dining experience. Sat us at a dirty, sticky table by the front exit door. When I asked to have the table clean the kid only cleaned the corner in front of me and then left. I thought he was walking around me to clean the other side but by the time I realized he walked away he ignored me when I tried to call him back. Everything they brought to they just wanted to set in front of me and leave, no attempt to bring other people in my party's order. Asked to get a spoon for my 4 year old to eat his rice and plopped a dirty spoon in front of me and ignored me when I tried to get their attention. Never came to give us refills on our empty drinks. When I asked for the check and a to go box, the kid almost started to pack up the food but then stopped and walked away while I was getting out my credit card and again when I tried to get them to come back they ignored me. By far my favorite Japanese place in the area. Sure on busy nights you've got to improvise a little, because the wait list is one where you have to write your own name down and they expect you yourself to be honest and polite enough to follow the right order, but once you sit down and get your food this is all worth it. In fact, the food is so good that we sometimes can't wait another week to have Tachis and just phone in for take out! All of the sushi we've tried here is delicious, the hand rolls especially. The tempura is always good, as well as the miso and udon they make. Seriously, just come here and try it out for yourself! Came in last night for dinner with my two friends. First impression is the service was not very friendly. Through the dinner this is what continued to be the impression. The waitress would take our order and leave abruptly and it was just see us and go through the whole dinner. It seemed like an inconvenience for us to ask for something we wanted. Once she saw that we left a tip her attitude toward us totally changed to being friendly. They have TVs inside where we were able to watch the football game paying which was awesome. We received our food shortly and did not have to wait a long time. I ordered the avocado roll with a side bowl of sushi rice. This was my first time trying an avocado roll and now I am obsessed! The roll was filled with avocado they gave a very generous amount. My side of rice was delicious to, I love sushi rice. This restaurant is NOT authentic Japanese!!! Its a cheap mock up of one. If your reviews on this place is good you really don't know good Japanese food!! The quality, quantity is ridiculous. The manager is rude and has NO tact towards customers. We ordered some food and when we collected it it was wrong and we rung him but he insisited we were wrong and he was right. Ever heard of "customers are always right". Well this manager obviously has not. Definitely don't recommend it. During this Covid 19 as we patronize restaurants to help them stay in business I expect good service and being humble as you rely on us customers to keep your doors open. This restaurant is at a great location. Lots of parking. I have the Phillip's Maki Roll which was Very Very Good! The fresh salmon on top was fresh and tastey. They are fairly priced (not expensive) and very friendly without being overbearing. I enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Would recomend! read more

Great for both lunch and dinner - it does get a bit busy around dinner time, but around lunch there's usually only a few people in the restaurant. Their lunch specials are really good - lots of food, my only complaint is the teriyaki plates don't have a ton of teriyaki - but there's plenty of sides to fill up on and the price is great ($9-$10).
