My family and I have been coming to Taci's Beyti for over three years. We used to go to Sahara's down the street for years, but once I discovered this gem that was all she wrote for them. Taci's Beyti is so good that I've recommended them to so many family and friends, I honestly think Taci should give me a 10% referral fee for everyone I send their way. Anyway onto the real reason why you're reading my review...the food. Appitizers everyone should order: Tarama- delicious caviar dip that goes perfectly with the free, warm, fluffy bread that they give every table. Liver Cubes- tender pieces of lamb liver, intracitly breaded and pan fried with olive oil and garished with red onions and fresh squeezed lemon on top. Cheese cigars- Deep fried Phyllo dough and feta cheese. If you're sharing this dish with the rest of for table, make you grab one because these disappear rather quickly. Shepard's Salad- what a refreshing salad. Fresh herbs, sumac, red onions, parsley, cucumbers and tomatoes all tossed with lemon juice and olive oil. Add shaved feta cheese on top for extra yumminess. Lamhacun- this turkish flat bread packs so much flavor with finely diced tomatoes, sweet bell peppers, and minced lamb. Cheese and sausage pide- I call this turkish pizza. It's a classic and family favorite. Main dishes. Doner Kebab with Yogurt. The Doner gave me a boner ;-) Precisely sliced gyro meat covered in tomato sauce on top and white yogurt sauce on the bottom, all this is sitting on top of pieces of pita bread sitting there just soaking up all the sauces. Take your fork, stab some gyro meat, make sure you get both sauces and pits bread, put it in your mouth and prepare to go on a journey to turkish food heaven. Shish Kebabs Perfectly marinated cubes of meat, great size and taste. Nothing more needs to be said about them. I used the word "perfect" a lot in this review because that's exactly what this place is. Everything from the food right down to the service. The staff is very welcoming and attentive. Trust me if I would give this place 6 stars I could. Can't wait to go back. Oh and I almost forgot....this place is BYOB. So that makes it 7 stars in my book. read more

Taci Betyi was not arbitrarily chosen as Zagats #1 Turkish restaurant. Deep in the heart of Brooklyn where more than a few excellent Turkish restaurants are found, Taci's Beyti impressed four hardcore Turkish food lovers with a slight, but noticeable "je ne sais quoi" (a quality that cannot be described). Everything was freshly made, fragment, well prepared and seasoned. A big local, ethnic crowd came pouring in shortly after we arrived, further validating our decision to eat here. It's a big place, occupying two storefronts through an opened wall in the middle. It gets darker as you move away from the window. Fortunately we had the window table with good light and a parking spot in front so we could see our car. (Readers Note: Whenever New Yorkers can see their car from the restaurant, the food usually taste better as stress and anxiety wane allowing our taste buds and other senses to emerge! .) I've refrained from posting a poor review of this place for a really long time but enough is enough. Service must be improved. WOW. This is some of the best food I've ever had, including on my travels in Turkey. Hands down the most incredible falafel, the kabob meat was tender and flavorful, the hummus was amazing and the Turkish bread was out of this world. Will continue to order from here again and again! Very disappointed with this place, especially given the other reviews. The food was not very good. We got the Lamb Sautee which was just chunks of lamb and tomatoes on a scorching hot skillet. The menu describes it as having herbs and spices, but you really couldnt taste anything but tomato. Zero complexity. Zero depth of flavor. Very one note. The white rice that accompanied the dish was not hot and tasted like it had been sitting out all day. Not fresh at all. The waiter was nice enough to throw in some fries, which were also cold and limp. The second entree was the Sea Scallops which also had very little flavor. I went with the side salad, which was described as mixed greens and was really just an iceburg salad that was slightly overdressed. On a positive note, they do give a good amount of scallops for $24, but the taste is sooo lacking. The service was ok, but it felt a bit rushed. The waiters were constantly darting back and forth with food and feverishly turning over tables. I get that it's a busy place, but it makes for a frenetic dining experience. In retrospect, I wish we would have gotten the lamb kebab and/or the gyro instead. I just felt a bit weird paying $20 for items I normally get for less than $10. read more

Taci Betyi is a traditional authentic Turkish restaurant hidden away in Brooklyn (at least for those commuting from Manhattan!). We came here on a Saturday evening with a very dear Turkish friend who is a regular. The wait was quite long (took us an hour to get a table) but worth the wait... We ordered the Eggplan Salad, Mix Meze from the cold appetizers along with the Sigara Boregi as a hot appetizer and then the Kiymali Pide (similar to a thin crust pizza but way better - never had anything like it) and then finally the Baklava and Kazandibi (the desert was simply delicious)! We topped it off with a delicious Turkish coffee. The service was impeccable and they don't rush you at all no matter what the wait is. How you get seated depends on the size of the party and which tables free up - the larger parties seemed to be seated quicker. The ambience was nice and had a very friendly atmosphere. They had a nice flavoring with the feta cheese inside. I dipped them in tzatziki sauce which made them taste even better. Cons--When we walked in it took awhile to get a hold of a hostess, as there was no hostess stand by the door. The main entree also took a long time to come out. Another SOLID meal! This place is delicious! We ordered the Lamb kabob which was tender and my daughter loved it! The bread was fresh and hot! Honestly that bread was our favorite part! Ha! Before COVID my biggest frustration with restaurants is how inconsistent the food can be and now withCOVID and the challenges restaurants have faced all my go-to delivery spots have gone off the deep end. If you are a feta cheese lover, you should start off with getting the sigara under the hot appetizer menu. It is an egg-roll concept with feta in the middle. The baby calf liver cubes is delicious and seasoned well, and for the health conscious, the classic hummus is also very good. I ended up ordering the mixed grill meats, figuring the best food to try would be the different variations of lamb meat. It was not a bad decision at all! At least for most people in the city, this place is far. Every time I've been here, I've driven. Despite the inconvenience, I've become a faithful customer because the food is simply the best. Hands down this is my favorite Turkish/Middle Eastern/Greek/Israeli spot in the city (I get that they're diffident but their similarities far outnumber their differences). The best part is unsurprisingly the food. I'd say that about a third of their menu is different varieties of kebab. I usually stick to the Adana kebab, which comes with yogurt sauce and toasted pita bread, which when mixed with the meat and yogurt, tastes a bit like croutons. Every time I've gone, I've started with the lahmacun (aka Turkish pizza). I've never had lahmacun elsewhere, so I can't say that Taci's Beyti serves "good" lahmacun. However, it's simply one of the best appetisers I've ever had. It's meaty and bready without spoiling your entree. Tonight, my girlfriend got the swordfish, which was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had in a restaurant. Best of all, it's BYOB, so it's never too expensive to have a big meal. read more

I have been to a few Turkish restaurants. This one is a hidden gem in Brooklyn. The place is decorated in its unique Turkish style. The customer service is good. They seat you down right away and take your Order. I've visited this place two times. On my second visit, I fell in love with the place. The first time was giving me a taste of the unique way they prepared Turkish cuisine. On my second visit. I order the Shish Kebab on hot yogurt and chopped pita bread. This plate was delicious. I also recommend the Diced tomatoes with garlic,onion, as an appetizer with the house Turkish bread. They also have a wide selection of wine. I have loved this place since I first discovered it while still in high school (2000). Since then they have expanded to have 2 dinning rooms, upgraded their decorations, and the food and service has stayed great. I love the calve's liver. This is the make it or break it dish of a Turkish restaurant in my weird book of what's yummy. Occasionally, I'll get an order of just that to go. Whenever I come back to Brooklyn my parents always seem to have a new "great" restaurant they've discovered that's better than a place I really liked when I used to live here which really frightens me because it usually is terrible. When my father tossed me the take out menu to browse before we left the house and I looked on Yelp I was feeling hopeful, but still nervous because after all they do have a terrible track record. When we arrived at the restaurant I was pleasantly surprised at the "A" rating and a bit taken aback by the decor which to me looked a bit like the lighting at the pirate ride at Disney. We were promptly seated, and given a basket of bread. And then we waited and waited until we finally had to tell them that yes, flat water from the tap was fine for us. Being that I no longer reside in New York, I was a bit sad when I ordered an iced tea and it was in a can, but that's because 10 years away from the city will do that to you spoiling you on fresh brewed iced tea. We ordered the white bean salad, hummus and a small Shepard's salad with feta as well as a shish kebab and shish kebab in yogurt sauce. The white bean salad was served cold in a red tomato based sauce and lacked flavor. The hummus was very good and creamy. The Shepard's Salad was served at the perfect temperature, but had a bit too much dill on it for my taste and I would have preferred for the tomatoes and cucumbers to be cut to a smaller size like I have had at other restaurants. The shish kebab was served with grilled onions and peppers as well as tomatoes and a hot pepper and grilled pita bread. The lamb was cooked to perfection and you are able to get tzaziki to go with your food by asking. The shisk kebab in yogurt sauce comes over cubed toasted bread with sliced pepper on top in a creamy yogurt sauce with some tomato sauce mixed into the side as well. The lamb in this dish is not as good as the regular shish kebab, but I enjoyed the sauce. I enjoyed the fact that it did not appear that we had a designated server and everyone appeared to be working together to ensure that the tables were taken care of. We were brought bread, and checked on through out our meal, and our plates were cleared in a timely manner. I was too full to even try to eat another bite but if I had a chance to go back here before headed home, I definitely would. read more

Superb Turkish food. For appetizer, be sure to try the pan-fried liver cubes and the Shepherd's Salad. The cubes are small enough such that the taste of the liver is mild and not objectionable to those whom are unconditioned to the taste of liver. The salad is served at a perfect temperature such that all the ingredients blend to form a very pleasing taste. For entrees, you cannot go wrong with the mixed grill and the doner kebab in yogurt sauce. The doner is served over the yogurt sauce which has small chunks of bread that have absorbed the sauce; thus, the dish yields a very pleasant mixture of flavors and textures. Don't skip dessert. Finish the meal off with some Turkish coffee and a sweet Mediterranean dish such as Kunefe. If you don't know what Kunefe is, then do not hesitate to try it. Worst comes to worst, you'll like it. At best, you'll love it! My final two notes are that the service is outstanding, and the restaurant permits you to bring your own alcohol without a charge. read more

Tacis is very accommodating for large groups, and that is the best way to go, if you ask me. You can try a little bit of everything that way. Some of my favorite things are: -shepherd salad -liver cubes (sounds gross but seriously so amazing) -hummus -sigara boregi I'm usually obscenely full by the time we get to the entrée, let alone dessert. Super tasty food. Even everybody r saying it's Turkish, I would add more authentic Turkish. Every dish carry a touch of certain herb which makes that dish taste a bit different then any Turkish restaurant. Baba-ganush was well prepared not mushed to paste consistency, but really nicely diced. Liver cubes deep fried to perfection, still maintaining it moisture. When you order their main course not grilled but cooked meat always comes with some gravy that complete it presentation, taste and overall experience. Yes fish dishes here r slightly more expensive then in regular Turkish Restaurants, but it taste totally different, I guess cause they r marinating this fish and you really taste how fresh spices that they r using to prepare it. Dined here on a Tuesday evening and it was pretty busy. I loved the decor and the lighting inside. We started off with some appetizers including the feta cigar rolls, the spinach triangles, eggplant spread and the shepherds salad. All the appetizers were great. The salad was so fresh! For an entree I got the chicken kabob. It was pretty good, but I think I actually enjoyed the apps more than my entree. The food was great but I deducted a star for the service. We ordered our apps first and then needed a moment still for our entrees. Our server never came back until we had already FINISHED our appetizers. We had to ask another server for him to come over so that we could put in our order. Our server was chit chatting with another table for so long and was very frustrating since he had not put in our order. Luckily another server stepped up for his lack. read more
