After visiting Fort Morgan and the nearby military fort, we decided to stop at Tacky Jack's 2 for lunch. Dining options in this area are pretty limited, so it seemed like a solid choice. We were seated fairly quickly, and the view of the bay is definitely one of the restaurant's highlights. The service was a bit slow when it came to bringing extra plates and sauces, but nothing that completely spoiled the meal. My brother thought his chicken was a little dry, but I actually thought it was very good and flavorful. The fries were delicious and cooked just right. Overall, it was a good meal for what it is. If you're exploring the Fort Morgan area and need a place to eat with a nice waterfront view, Tacky Jack's 2 is worth giving a try. read more

We both ordered the lunch special which included 1/2 a sandwich and a cup of soup. We wanted the BLT sandwich and asked the waitress how many pieces of bacon were on it in case we wanted to get extra bacon. She said 2 pieces. When we got our sandwiches which were on a small piece of white bread cut in triangles, I opened it up to 1 piece of bacon, a piece of leaf lettuce and a mealy tomato slice. I took the tomato off and touched the tiny piece of bacon. It was cold like just out of the fridge. I asked the waitress for extra bacon and specified that I wanted the bacon hot. After a few minutes a waiter brought me 3 pieces of hot bacon. Once assembled, this sandwich was good. My husband ate his with 1 piece of cold bacon. The soup we got was the gumbo which had a great flavor and was very filling. Even though Tacky Jack's 2 is just up the road from where we stay, we won't go back for food. read more

The fish and shrimp were great but the oysters were average. The restaurant was super busy and tables were very close together. Went on a summer night around 7. They have a large area outside on the marina to wait for a table or watch charter/fishing boats. They originally said they would not be able to sit a party larger than 6 but then were able to accommodate our party of 8 upstairs right away (no wait) on the outside patio deck. I like this restaurant, but I guess my biggest complaint is it's not very clean. The bathrooms have seen better days. A lot of broken tile on the floor and just in general not real clean. We had excellent service and our food was really really good. I would give it four stars for the food, but three stars for the actual building itself. The view was pretty phenomenal which we really enjoyed sitting inside because they had a chilly wind, but all in all I would say this place Needs to be upgraded. Hmm I tell it like it is. I'd give the store in Gulf Shores a go before passing judgemental on the company. Food was good. Actually really good. My only issue was the Taxky shrimp good flavor and all but reading the menu is said shrimp on a bed of rice. Yes there was rice about 1/3 cup and a large bowl with 10 shrimp swimming in the broth. More like a soup. The server said well it's running short so the kitchen cuts back. Uhh 23 bucks for an appetizer. And bread on the side was a 2" slice e of baguette. I'll order the chicken. If you wanted to open a restaurant in a secluded place out away from most everything, this is how you do it. In Gulf Shores slash Fort Morgan, Tacky Jack's 2 is part of the Fort Morgan Marina so you'll have a nice view of beautiful boats docked in the marina and during the day enjoys some of the domesticated pelicans and sea gulls. Located almost at the very western most tip of the peninsular outcropping of Gulf Shores, TJ2 basically sits out in the Gulf at the south end of Mobile Bay. I wouldn't mind returning during the day, but I bet the view is great. TJ2 is right off Hwy 180, but way down 180 and there's nothing else around for miles. Your choices of places to eat around that area are very limited. Located right on the water, I worry though that if a bad storm comes through, I hope they're well insured. We arrived on a Monday evening the week of Thanksgiving so it was a very slow night. I think there were only 25% full. They do open and serve breakfast so they are a full service facility. The wife wanted to sit outside so I apologize for my photos not being up to par, but it was a nice brisk evening. We were escorted quickly to the outdoor deck area. It was beautifully decorated with large string bulbs strategically placed. We were seated at one of the many tall tables with chairs. There was also some nice music playing just at the right background music volume level. Our server arrived almost immediately and took our drink requests. He returned 5 minutes later with our drinks where we asked to start with some gator bites. Again he was back in about 5 minutes with a small basket of brown bites on a large bed of shredded lettuce. We found the gator bites a little salty with some pieces being a chewy and overcooked... so not off to a good start. But they were served with some remoulade sauce that was very good. Tammy tried the Bushwacker. Matthew ordered the Lava Flow. I had the virgin pina colada. TJ2 knows how to make blended drinks. Don't know if this is every night especially on busy nights, but I kid you not when I say that our food arrived in record time. For a second I thought I was at a mexican restaurant! The rice to gumbo ratio was a little too high, but hey I'm Asian and you know how we love our rice. The color and flavor of the gumbo was spot on, but they failed on my okra requirement. And one of the best parts was that it was temperature hot! In my book you get a star just for serving hot food! One of my worst pet peeves is consuming food that has been sitting at room temperature. Matthew's grouper sandwich with fries was also very good. The fry on the grouper was spot on. The fries were hot out of the fryer and perfectly seasoned. Tammy reported that her blackened fish tacos were just alright. I loved my fried fish tacos. The coating wasn't too thick and again the filets must've just come out of the fryer. The filet was simply placed in a soft tortilla on a small bed of cabbage, shredded lettuce and a smattering of their special Tacky sauce. Our waiter wouldn't reveal what was in it, but I suspect it's a variation of their remoulade sauce. It was delicious. Now my blackened crawfish poboy was not as inspiring. I know we're not at the height of crawfish season, but I've seen popcorn larger than these crawfish. And I knew I should've ordered them fried, but they overdid the seasoning and it was way too salty. Also the poboy bun should've been at least toasted a little, but this was how they make their version which is not what I preferred. I appreciated that they left off any sauce and let you choose what you wanted to dress it with. They did serve it with lettuce, tomato and a couple of sliced pickles. Our server brought us a plate of little containers of sauces: ranch, tartar, cocktail, and salsa for the chips that came with the fish tacos. They were all homemade except for the salsa which was either bottled or canned. Our server was outstanding and checked on us constantly. The timeliness and temperature of our food was outstanding! The drinks were great. The atmosphere and view was worth the drive. Their menu had a few more choices I wouldn't mind trying so yes I would return. If you're in one of the beach resort condos nearby, honestly there's not that many places "nearby" if you want to eat out. TJ2 will stay on my list. read more

Tacky Jack's 2 in Fort Morgan was pretty good, but their prices for crab clawz were a lot higher than other restaurants of higher caliber in the area. They were $38 and did not include any sides. We got the bushwhacker and they suggested putting a peanut butter liquor shot on top ("floater"), I don't like peanut butter liquor, but it tasted really good on this cocktail - it made it look taste like a Snickers bar milk shake. The wings were perfect, I'm pretty picky about my wings too. They were juicy, but also crispy on the outside. Nachos were fantastic. We got to see a wild dolphin in the sound.
