I was actually in denial about the fact that whenever I'd go to eat @Taco Beach 2099 Bellflower Long Beach, Ca. I'd get sick, flu like symptoms . Today my friend who loves this place wanted to eat here, i reluctantly accommodated him. After praying over my food, (veggie taco) I discovered, EXTRA things (bug like creatures) in my food. When I brought it to the waiters attention, he seemed puzzled. He then said "he didn't know" and had to ask the chef. I personally asked the chef, what are these black creature like things in my food? His response, "I don't know" Maybe black beans. (?) I didn't order any beans sir, and you and i both know these aren't any part of any type of beans. Cold tacos - twice in a row. I'm normally a huge Taco Beach fan. Live right down the street, been walking there for years for dinner, lunch & miss their weekend breakfast. But, two weeks in a row we went for Taco Tuesday and we're served cold tacos. I'm not sure if the meat is reheated or what is going on but my husband doesn't even want to go back again. One star is being generous. I can't say anything about the food because we were never given the opportunity. We were told to seat ourselves, she brought us chips and salsa and took our drink order. Then that was it....a group of 3 came in and took all her focus. We were told that she would be right with us to take our order but never did. After 30 minutes, giving her an opportunity to come to us. She never did. Her focus was clearly on this group of 3. All the other tables that came in after us were clearly being taken care of....I almost felt invisible. I would love to say it was super busy, but it wasn't. Will never eat here again i thought it was just me but my first experience I got the same treatment the only black person again and didn't get recognized only to be served chips and salsa and white boys walks in get served chips and salsa and their drinks on top of ordering and receiving their meal before me but as well as walked in after I was seated. Mind u it was not crowded at all sat down at 3 and didn't get to order until 3:17 and before I got to finish with ordering my waitress walks off before I even got to ask for something else didn't receive my order until 3:30 and had to leave out to be back at work off my lunch break at 3:47. I have driven past this place soooo many times and have always been curious about it. I got the sense that it would be a quick taco stand kind of vibe. I already have a go to for tacos so I never stopped here. Today I was at a meeting nearby and when it was time for lunch I took the opportunity to try it out. Now I should have checked yelp first, because anything less than 4 stars is a usually no go. I didn't, which means I got to satisfy my curiosity after driving by so often. One word-decent. The atmosphere wasn't what I expected. It was sit down service, either at a table or the bar. I had expected standing in a line to place my order. I was a little worried it would take too long because I was on a limited schedule. Service was a little slow to get started even though they weren't busy, but they were friendly enough. I got my meal fairly quickly, which was nice. I ordered the shrimp tacos, one Ensenada style, the other diablo. They were-decent. Definitely a generous portion, not some wimpy little thing. The Ensenada style had a great sauce and lots of peppers. The diablo was VERY spicy, with lots of tomatoes and onions. Beans and rice were decent as well. On the whole an OK lunch that wasn't overpriced. Definitely not a place I would make a special trip for, but if I ended up here I'd be fine with it. read more

We picked this place from Google search of nearby Mexican food. The music was loud and we had trouble hearing the cashier when placing our order. We ordered California carne asada burrito, ground beef tostada salad, and small Bud Light for $28 not including tip. We gave them a tip when ordering before we were seated because of Covid you must order and pay first. It was not deserved. The server never came to check on us after the food arrived. The burrito was so dry with little to no sour cream. It had meat, fries and some cheese. The fries were very dry and old looking. Tostada salad was so so. Would not recommend this spot. read more

I don't think I'd ever come back, but if I did, it would definitely NOT be for a take out order. Do not, do not order anything to go here (actually, my tip is to avoid it all together). My order was simple - two California burritos, a two taco tinga combo, six additional tacos a la carte and cheese quesadillas which, for some reason was not registering with the woman taking my order. There were only two other people in the place and the music wasn't loud, so I knew it wasn't that. She simply could not understand what I was saying no matter how slowly I tried to explain it. Well, it turns out there's only one guy in the back doing all the cooking, so you're going to have to wait. And wait. And wait. Finally, I believe my food is ready but no - they messed up the order. The person preparing the food is so annoyed he throws the two tacos into a styrofoam container on top of two orders of beans I did not order. I order three Mexican cokes and they're room temperature - $3.00 each doesn't buy me refrigeration? I finally get my order and have to open each container up because they're all just thrown in there. I ordered two puffy brisket tacos which were soggy, falling apart and ice cold - obviously, Han Solo made these first. Oddly enough, the reason I'm giving a star here is because the brisket was quite good, albeit ice cold. I open up my tinga tacos and they have melted cheese and red hot beans stuck all over them (which I didn't order). The two taco combo was a separate and I had already given it to my friend - these weren't supposed to come with beans. So I had to eat the sloppy mess like behind the 7-11 in high school on a Saturday night. The cold cheese quesadillas were good - I can only wonder how good they'd be hot. For the record, I took the order across the street - it's not like I drove to Pasadena. (Okay, so it looks like she charged me for two (2) Tinga taco combos even though I ordered one. The service wasn't its best, we were there when it was empty, ordered before seating and we paid. We weren't getting that much attention as there was alot of parties who came after us.. Stopped here for lunch. Their menu seemed to be great and the taco Tuesday all day menu was amazing! The food was good, service was quick and friendly. I can say that the lunch hour for when we went after 1 pm was easy seating, food came out quick and parking was very easy. The waiter checked in a few times but not as much as I'm use to. read more

Happy Taco Tuesday, which in my opion, should be everyday. Taco Beach on Bellflower Blvd. has a great,staff, serving large portions of the Mexican food we all crave. There is a wide selection of Cervezas to choose from so, drink responsibly. During this crazy time of COVID, the management of Taco Beach have taken advantage of down-time due to temporary closures, to spruce up everything and it shows. Now, you'll find there is seating available in the parking area, street-side and the rear screened patio. However, it's the last part of this seating option which prevents me from giving four or, five stars in this review. The rear screened patio area is not very large. When I placed my dinner order early on a Friday evening, I was directed to sit in this area because the street-side area was being rebuilt and the parking area seating was, I assume, reserved for larger groups. When I asked the waitress to be reseated in the parking area I was told, "You'll be fine". I was the only person in this crowded area to wear a Face Mask. Feeling uncomfortable with this arrangement and not being able to be reseated in the parking area, i asked to have my meal packed to go. I feel for local restaurants having to think outside the box to continue operating with all the Public Safety restrictions in place. PPE requirements are for a purpose and meant to be safe for all. Unfortunately, not everyone wants to comply. In this situation, since I was unable to be reseated, I took the option to take my meal home rather than enjoy a hot meal and feel safe doing it. To be fair, Taco Beach as I said, serves great food and the staff tries to be as nice as possible. The portions are large, the beer is cold and it has a good vibe. Came here tonight for dinner since we were craving Mexican food. My sister had been here once before and she said good things- so thought I'd give it a try. Chips and salsa came out immediately. The chips hot and fresh- even though they were closing in about an hour. Appetizer: calamari Entrees: creamy habanero shrimp enchiladas and Baja tacos combo Appetizer was really good. But probably not the best idea because I was starting to get full. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. Both entrees came with rice and beans (choice of retried of black). The shrimp enchiladas were really good, but I could have done without all that creamy stuff on top- but I know it's part of the name of the meal so... yah. Haha. The baja fish tacos looked, felt, and tasted like it had been in the fryer a little too long. So over fried that we couldn't taste the fish. Overall- I'd come again. We were just passing by and thought it was time to try a new taco place so we came here. They were busy , they took forever to take our order BUT the food came out really quick once they did, they brought our chips and salsa which were fresh and delicious we even got refills on the salsa which was awesome . Their horchata was one of a kind , and when we got the tacos (I ordered 2 Baja fish tacos and 1 chipotle chicken) and my fiancé ordered (1 carnitas , 1 shredded chicken, 1 Baja) ; I thought the Baja tacos were delicious BUT they needed more fish. They were pricey and it was 2 full sized tortillas , but not enough fish . It was a lot of cabbage. The chipotle one was generic no toppings which it needed . My fiancé said the carnitas taco was delicious , tender and juicy with flavor , he didn't care for the chicken one as it was generic , and he said the toppings for those two looked like Taco Bell , so they should make their presentation a little better. Maybe add some salsa too. He loved the Baja taco but also said it needed more fish . Over all the staff were kind and helpful . We had outdoor seating because of COVID which wasn't bad at all. Indoor seating looked nice and fun for later on , I would only come back if I'm in the area but I wouldn't choose them for a taco night. read more

This small business is the best taco spot in the area! I like to order the Baja fish tacos or the spicy Ramone burrito. The burritos here are HUGE, which is good if you have a big appetite or want something out of the ordinary for lunch the next day. Also the Baja sauce is to DIE for, and you haven't lived till you try it. The food is excellent Mexican cuisine. And it's not just the food. The decor is great from the monkey's surfing on the wall near the bathroom, to the wrestling masks above the bar. Lastly the servers are so nice and have great personalities. My favorite are waitresses Tulsai and Roni. They bring a sort of lightness to the table and are always making sure that they know what you want. Tulsai told me about the Baja sauce and I make sure to have it on everything I get. Great work ladies! read more

I am not too sure what to think about this place. They have a large bar, lots of seating, patio, I like the layout. The food is pretty good (Chips & Salsa are delicious), though I've had way better fish tacos at Long Beach Fish Grill. The service is what gets me every time! The ladies are nice enough, but not very attentive and possibly have dyslexia. The first time we went there we waited almost 20 minutes to order, we had eaten our entire basket of chips while we waited for our server to return. Then my order came out wrong, so we had to wait again for the corrected order. If I remember correctly she discounted it on our bill which I appreciated but I prefer better service in lieu of being inconvenienced. We came back last week, and the service was a bit better though she didn't come back till the end of the meal to refill our drinks. She also put in one of our orders incorrectly, even though when she repeated our order it was correct. So when everything came out, we had to send the one plate back, again they comped that meal. Hopefully the service gets better, I can't see them staying in business long if they always have to comp people's orders. read more
