It never really occurred to me before to yelp a Taco Bell before but the service at this location exceeded my expectations to the extent that I had to. It was spotless when I walked in, the cashier (Cintrez?) was extremely nice. She even checked on me while I was eating to see if I needed anything. I don't think I've ever had that happen before in a fast food restaurant. Then the food. It was 10 times better that the Taco Bell's I usually go to. The food was fresh, the fries were actually crispy for a change, and the soft tacos were actually full of stuff as opposed to the usual half full ones I get. This is how a Taco Bell should be. I'm awfully conflicted about this fast food franchise. We really enjoy their box specials throughout the year. But, always in the past they have included fries or chips in their box specials. Not that we really need any extra calories, but when you get accustomed to certain things and then it's not offered or provided, unless you pay extra of course, it's a little disappointing. I know it's not just this location because I looked it up when I got home. Service was excellent; the young lady at the counter was friendly and THEY offer a Senior discount. I want to be fair because for the price and service they should get 5 stars, but I guess I'm being petty because I didn't get fries or chips with the meal. Made an online order, walked up to the counter to the 3 bratty high schoolers that were working that shift, wasn't greeted, tried speaking to the cashier but he completely ignored me and continued to mop the floor without saying a word to me. The 2 other girls gave me attitude when I asked if the order on the counter was mine and gave me a nasty look. I then realized they messed up on my order, they didn't give me the correct freeze drink and gave me nachos instead of cinnamon twists. My memories of the Second Street Taco Bell go way back to the days when they were located in the original brick building at Second and Madison. That original building is still there, but occupied by another business. This modern day version is located to the south of the original, in the other side of the street. The inside is spacious and clean, and the self service taco sauce has always been fully stocked. I typically go with "Fire" but have recently taken a liking to the green stuff. I have been here on several occasions, but I've never used the drive thru or had anything from the breakfast menu. On my most recent trip, I killed two birds with one stone and drove through and got breakfast. I opted for a sausage breakfast taco combo with coffee. The Mrs. went with a sausage burrito combo with OJ. Both the taco and burrito were hot and fresh. The hash browns and coffee were some of the best in recent fast food memory. If you opt for OJ, there is a thirty cent uncharge. Breakfast for the two us was a touch north of ten bucks. If you're thinking about breakfast, keep in mind breakfast ends at eleven. I will definitely think outside the bun and return for many more runs for the border. read more

This will probably be my last visit here. Last night I ordered 2 chalupa 5 dollar boxes and some other things, and the chalupa was not fresh or hot. It kind of got a pass because we were hungry. I usually just blow it off it's just not worth the hassle for one item, but this time they forgot two items and didn't even wrap one of my tacos it was at the bottom of the bag all the lettuce and cheese fell out and there was barely any meat. So this time I went back got my two missing items and 2 tacos all they said was sorry like it was funny or something. frickin ridiculous. I have 5 people in my family and ya we order a lot but it's not that hard make the item put it in the bag. Should have offered me refund. They put out a decent product for the price. Its not authentic Mexican food, but thats not a realistic expectation for an establishment like this. Its better to think of Taco Bell as a place that makes "Mexican inspired" food. Their chalupas are great as are their quesadillas.
