Came here for lunch, pretty busy and fast service. I like the salsa bar,, that's a plus. Pretty simple menu, ordered asada, pastor, cabeza, barnacoa tacos. Tacos had pretty good amount of meat but I was little annoyed to see that asada was $1.96 more.. WTH Love the salsa bar so I can load them up to my liking. I did taste the meat by itself before I ate them loaded. Cabeza was pretty good, pastor was very disappointing, had that cooked meat with some sprinkle of seasoning. Barbacoa was probably the tastiest but I got a big chunk of fat in my bite.. I love fatty meat so i didnt have issues but I can see someone not loving fatty part of the meat taking a bite. Asada probably was my least favorite. Lack of flavor and definitely not worth over $5. Nice atmosphere with music and friendly staff but over all it was not for me specially the price of that darn carne asada taco. Don't plan on coming back.

Friendly service and great food! The only two things that weren't to "my liking" were that they put our 2 orders of tacos on the same plate instead of separate (was with a coworker) and the music was soooo loud next to the area to wait to get your food. I am never one to complain about the loudness of music but I would suggest moving the speaker to a different location or higher up. Tbe food was delicious and had a great variety of toppings.

I love taco boys! Always delicious, fresh and affordable tacos! I only took a star off because the barbacoa is a little too greasy for my liking, and the bartenders aren't usually all that attentive. Other than that, this place is my go-to!

Great food and fast service. The drink size is huge! I got delicious horchata but could not finish it. Chicken is juicy delicious. Asada and pastor are also good. Many varieties of salad to choose from. There is one real spicy salsa. Lots of TVs to watch sport games. The seats, mostly are high tables or bar style, are more for a small party. The restaurant is a bit hot on the summer day. I love the sinks out in the front to wash my hands (before and) after enjoying the delicious tacos.

The food DELICIOUS, the service friendly and fast the ambience festive! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE! The meat was NOT skimpy on the Birria Taco! Flavorful tender meat serve with consumé that I finished with my spoon. If you're ever in Tempe, COME HERE!!!! You will not be disappointed!

I had seen the crowds of people at the Taco Boys at Roosevelt Row, so I was glad to see that there was a new location on Mill Avenue. We went for lunch on a Friday, and it was very busy. It was packed with ASU students, as well as just the general public. It is all counter service, and they have a salsa bar. There is a bar as well, but it was not open when we were there - - maybe somebody would have gone over there to serve a drink had anyone ordered one. There's also patio seating outside, which is a good thing for people watching on Mill avenue. We ordered the Platos, one chicken and one carne asada, and it was plenty of food. It comes with a stack of delicious tortillas to make tacos with along with beans. On the day we were there the beans were very very soft, almost like liquid. I did not like them. It may have just been that bad so I'm not sure if it's always like that. We will definitely go back. The platos were very good value and we would order them again.

We love this place the tacos are delicious, the salsas and toppings are abundant, and our dog was welcomed with open arms (and even treats) Great ambiance and the staff had a great vibe

My visit to Taco Boys was a 10/10 experience. I have visited before so I was somewhat familiar, but wanted to see the ASU vs BYU game there to see how it was during games. I did walk there, so I cannot speak on the parking situations for people that drive. The staff was just as welcoming as before, and always make sure that you get everything as you asked for it. Customers were all friendly as everyone was an ASU fan rooting for the same team. I attached the Menu to this post, it friendly for non-spanish speakers, so that is one less worry. The atmosphere was amazing. Everyone was welcoming and the service was awesome. They have an amazing TV setup, with one big screen and a plethora of other screens available, inside AND outside. Overall, I would 100% go back there for any sporting event, or even if I am just craving a good bite.

Came here for our Friday lunch date a couple of weeks ago (but forgot to write a review)…read more We had a couple of their tacos (I had the Al Pastor as it was only available on a Wednesday ‍ and the wife had the Costra taco and it was all pretty good. Great flavors. We shared their Flamingo (crispy rolled flour tacos stuffed with cheese blend and roasted anaheim pepper, topped with lettuce, sour cream, avocado salsa, pico de gallo and cotija cheese) - VERY GOOD! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We both had the Modelo Especial with lunch as well, as you gotta do it right! Service was quick as it wasn't that busy when we arrived and were seated - but it got busy not long after.. You can see its a popular place and right in the heart of Tempe so no surprises! It's not a noisy place but far, and quite open, so its pretty average for noise. We will be back - as there are some great foodie places around in Tempe, and Taco Chelo is definitely one of them!

First of all, eating anywhere in Tempe, starts with a frustrating time.... Trying to find parking and having to pay to park. I don't understand why restaurants don't have parking for customers. Idk maybe I don't know where to look. Second, it's hot AF in here. I feel sorry for the guys cooking. It's 105 today and the restaurant is so small, it's probably impossible to keep cool during the summer. Finally, the food. It all tastes very fresh! NO SEED OILS is amazing. I feel like I have won something when I find a restaurant that uses olive oil and beef tallow to cook in. Best corn tortillas I have had for sure. We basically tried one of each taco. (Although some of the tacos we ordered were wrong, so we just kept adding) not a big deal, because they were delicious and we loved them. I felt like the carne was chewy but my husband loves chewier meat. The taco with the marlin was my favorite. And the one that came out kind of like a cheese crisp. It's loud in here and again the space is very small. They do not serve wine at all. But yummy margaritas! The bartender is working solo and working hard! She busted her butt and did an amazing job. And smiled the entire time. She was awesome

It's quaint, never a wait, and it has become our family go-to. We always have wonderful service and great meals with freshly prepared ingredients. The shrimp dishes are incredible, remnant of Puerto Peñasco with shrimp that "pops" (if you know good shrimp, you know what I mean!) They have Negra Modelo on draught (hard to find that!), and their margaritas are delish. You can't go wrong with chimichangas or combo platters! They have moles on the menu but we typically opt for more traditional Sonoran style. If you are on the search for amazing traditional Mexican food in South Tempe - you found your spot!

My sangria was good as well. However, the amount you get for around $8.50 is a joke. Its a small glass with just a little bit in the glass. The chips & salsa were good. The spicy salsa is the opposite of the one you would think is spicy out of the two, so pay attention. Hubby got a combo with a tamale & ground beef burrito with rice & beans. He said everything was good. He also ordered a side of guacamole. I thought I got a picture of the guacamole & sour cream. It's crazy how much they charged for them. They were the small plast condiments containers, but they charged almost $5 for the guacamole. I don't remember the extra cost for the sour cream, but it too was way too high for the tiny size. I got a chicken chimichanga with grilled chicken instead of the shredded chicken which came with rice & beans. It was all good. Our server was friendly & did a good job. We loved the decor. It reminded us of being in Mexico. The table & chairs are really cool too. I wanted to love this place, but the cost of the sangria, sour cream & guacamole are just too high for me to justify coming back.

The meats are so good. We also use to love the sushi side. During Covid, we tried the sushi for the first time. We were hesitant as it's a Mexican joint, right? Not a Japanese specialty shop. So to my surprise, I couldn't believe the sushi especially the Las Vegas roll and their Nigiri cuts were pretty dang good. My disappointment seems to be this last year with the sushi just hasn't been the best or fresh tasting. The Las Vegas roll was always nice and warm but with an awesome cold center and fried to perfection and the sauce just right. Lately it's been the opposite. Super over fried were all you can taste is old burnt oil and it dried out and the sauce just bland and not helping at all. The other thing that bothers us is the lack of wasabi they give! If you're not going to give us full flavor, at least give more wasabi to help mask. I will say they give you plenty of soy sauce packets (just barely any wasabi).
