I was driving my friend home from Campbell and when she realized the route I was taking she started chanting, "Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!" Don't have to twist my arm. Years ago when I lived in Europe I was returning home for a visit and made my usual request for Bravo before going home and my family informed me that the Bravo location by our house closed. They had waited until then to tell me because they were afraid I would never have come back if I knew. I was sad, but I did refuse to go home until they took me to the other location. Anyway, we were waiting in line and the woman in front of us was talking about the chili Verde in religious terms. So when it was our turn we ordered 12 tacos for my friend (she really, really likes the tacos) and I ordered the chili verde for the first time. The owner informed me I was going to love it and he's never steared me wrong. Well, I bit into and my knees went week. You come here on the regular and the food is good but if you come by on Taco Thursday all of the Tacos are cold. You have cold cheese cold lettuce and now cold meat. Found this place while driving theough the golden state. Food is off the hook. Cheap. Burritos are fat and full of meat. Dont let the poor health department scores worry you. Its awsome. Was so good i went back for another burrito and since it was taco tuesday got another set if those too. My mistake was i went to the hotdog shop next door and bought an ice cream and then hit the road. About 15 min up on hwy 280 my stomache started to bubble needless to say i couldnt make it to the restroom. Suprisingly it looked the same in my shorts as it did in the burrito doe. We used to go here years ago so we thought we would give it a try again. This is our second time in 2 months and each time was equally disappointing. Not only is this location filthy, the food was terrible. We paid $26 for 3 Super Tacos that had very little beef in them and had a strange taste with stale taco shells. My 300th review goes to one of my favorite places for "fast food" tacos. The food is several notches above Taco Bell. They don't serve the "authentic" tacos like taquerias or food trucks...this is more like a "Americanized" taco - with the hard shells. They basically have three types of tacos: super, bravo, delite. Only difference is corn shell, fried flour shell, and tortilla. There's other stuff on the menu that I've never tried because their tacos are just that good! Don't forget to try their hot sauce. Update- I asked my boyfriend to try taco bravo again after seeing a couple reviews that indicated that maybe they switched back to the softer taco shells. I can confirm that as of Thursday, August 19, I did indeed enjoy the old taco shells! My boyfriend however ordered a bean burrito because he was unsure whether the taco shells were the old ones or the new ones. Hopefully when we go back next week and he tries to order some tacos they will be the old shells. If you would ask me two months ago they would get five stars. But the new taco shells are pretty much in edible and my boyfriend and I now have to stop going there because we are worried that we will break our teeth on $.99 tacos. I'll be looking at yelp to see if they change back to their old taco shells, but as long as they are carrying these new ones, we are done. If you were out of your mind you might throw tomato and sour cream on there. Mild and hot sauces could change the game, or were they the same with a different label? I've killed too many brain cells between here and there to recall. These days, I'm more of a taqueria person, ever in search of comida autentica wherever I may roam, but once or twice a week for some time now, like a hermit crab that crawled into an OG shell, Taco Bravo on S. Bascom has been chiding me to come hither every time I go to Trader Joe's across the street to get my shop on. Recently I caved, simpler times I craved. Taco Bravo is not a taqueria, it's plain jane American taco fare. Sometimes that's a good thing, trust me. The menu is simple. Prices are not cheap but also not out of control. Portions are grande. I've been here a couple times, and so far I have tried: - Beef crunchy taco: tasty simple ground beef with fresh lettuce and a heavy handful of shredded cheese. Not a bargain price-wise but they do them for 0.99 on Thursdays and that seems about right. - Chicken soft shell taco: shredded chicken mildly spiced with cheese and lettuce. Priced a little over two bucks, the portion was hefty and at lunch I could make a meal of one. I liked this. - Mini super nachos: watching these being made is like, "what? omg, again?" I'm still not sure how they fit so much food into such a small package. 'Nuff said. Order one yourself, but share it. Let me know what you think. They have three pump-thermoses full of taco sauce to the side. I thought maybe: hot, medium, mild? Nope, same, same, same. It's not my show, so I'll go with it. Their one taco sauce is basic but good enough. American-style Mexican food isn't really my thing these days, but I'm glad I gave Taco Bravo a try. I definitely recommend it and may go back again. Taco Thursday's is the best At $1.29! Regular price is $3.99. It's a great bargain to eat here if you're craving tacos. The shell is super crispy. The cheese is grated fresh so it's nice and soft. Bean burritos is my favorite backup when it's not taco day. Sometimes the burrito is small I felt sometimes. Just depends on who makes it! So beware! The refried beans are made there too so it's really smooth and creamy. Yum! If you get the amazing nachos. Get the chips on the side and just dip it in there. Interesting enough, this spot is more Taco Bell style food than the good 'ol street tacos I'm accustomed to (but not a bad thing). I ended up getting 2 ground beef burritos (meat, onions, beans) for a little over $12. NEW SHELL FROM HELL I've eaten Taco Bravo tacos since high school. For an "American" taco, they were to die for. Spicy meat, delicious sauce, lots of cheese, AND, the perfectly light, crisp, fresh shell. Well....I hadn't been since before Covid until today. I was in the area, so I gave in and went to go wolf down tacos! With the first bite I noticed the shell. It was soooo hard, thick, and stale! It took away the pleasure of eating it. My jaw even started hurting it was so hard. I love Taco Bell been going there for years. Today my son and I stopped by to get nachos and 2 tacos. The person working at the counter was very rude to my son. When we got home the guy making the nachos must have put 2-3 teaspoons of salt on the chips. The were not edible. My son noticed he had been very friendly towards the Caucasian customer . There were "thank you have a nice day conversation. He didn't say one word to my black American son. I don't think I will be back until they get better help!
