A taste of real Mexican food. They have 3 locations and Food and service are great! This is Tacos Al Pastor #1. Can't wait to try #3. I loved the chip and salsa, the special of the day was 3 tacos of Cabeza and they had a torta with fries and a drink for $12 dollars. We got a chimichanga and an al pastor super burrito. Bland. Even with both red and green salsa, still bland. Which is not a word that should ever apply to Mexican food. I don't understand how they're still in business, located across from Taqueria Eduardo and in an area stacked with taqueria options. I have been trying out new taquerias because I have yet to find a go-to place close by home that I can can become a regular at. First timer here; easy to find plus there's a parking lot in the back with a handful of spots - you can also enter from the parking lot side. I ordered takeout and decided on a super burrito with carne asada and everything inside. It was somewhat busy so it took about 15-20 mins for my order to be ready. Got home and realized the super burrito was one of the smallest "super burritos" I've had. A bit disappointed because for $13, I would've expected the portion to be larger. The burrito itself wasn't bad but also wasn't amazing.. the tortilla was slightly over fried to the point where some of the edges were crispy which caused it to come unwrapped. Overall, it did the job and filled me up but I am still on the hunt for my favorite taqueria. read more

Ordered a regular Carne asada burrito today. I've had their cocido before but wanted to try out their burritos. It was a big disappointment, unfortunately! Everyone knows what makes a bad burrito is way too much rice and the flavor of the meat. My burrito was 2 for 2 on that one. Way too much rice and had to add salsa to every bite for flavor. I am a fan of their red salsa as my sister buys it by the vat and always shares. Their horchata is really good as well and I like the fact they give you a lot of chips. Their cocido, salsa, and horchata were great, but it would be a reach if I gave 4 stars. This place has the potential to be solid 5 stars if they made everything like their salsa! I'll definitely be back for their cocido and salsa, but I will stick with my regular burrito spot. read more

It's been here for years. Today 12/10/23 was the first time we've been to it. The food is good. It's a taqueria. What set them above the average for us was the chips and salsa. While you get this other places the salsa had a unique quiet spice and flavor. The other thing was they serve beer bottles and hand you a glass with lime and tajin. Another plus. They have two tv's one playing the Niner game and another playing something different. It's a service counter and they bring the food to you, service was quick and polite. read more

I used to eat here 30 years ago when it was owned by Elias, he sold it and the recipes have stayed the same over all that time. That's a good thing as they have some tasty mexican food. I'm going to let you in on a secret, kind of like animal style at In-N-Out. They have a burrito that is not on the menu but they still remember how to make it after all these years. The "Burrito Especial" is Carne Asada, Pico de Gallo, and Bacon, that's it. I always add some rice but it's an awesome burrito for sure! One thing that stands out is the chips and salsa. The chips are thin and crisp and the salsa, Elias old recipe, is one of my favorite dipping salsas ever. It's just got enough heat to satisfy but loads of yummy tomato lime flavor. This is my go to spot on this side of town for enchiladas! I tend to phone in my order ahead of time, they are close to work and it's very convenient. Tacos Al Pastor is one of our go to restaurants when we're in the mood for Mexican food. I usually get the enchilada plate, which comes with 2 enchiladas (I usually order chicken), rice, beans, and a small side salad, and I am always satisfied whenever I order it. The chicken has a great flavor to it and isn't dry at all. The sauce is very flavorful and the added rice and beans just make the plate complete. One thing that really stands out is their service. They are always quick and if you're looking for a place to stop for a quick meal this is your place. I had dinner with 2 buddies on a Wednesday night. The place wasn't that busy, so we were able to order our food with a minimal line and have (almost) any table in the place. I ordered the carnitas plate with a large pina agua fresca, while my friends ordered a burrito and two fish tacos. Our food came out in 10 minutes. There was a very generous helping of carnitas, along with a side of refried beans, rice, small salad and 3 very warm corn tortillas. All of the food was very tasty. Even though I was very hungry, I had to leave a little bit of beans and rice on my place since there was so much food. My friends did enjoy the burrito and tacos and said they would be happy to come back when we were in the neighborhood. The only reason I'm dinging this place one star is that the meat choices are quite ordinary. Lengua is the only interesting meat on the menu, and their seafood selections are also sparse. This place is close to home so we literally go once a week. Don't get it twisted though, it's purely because of proximity and not quality. The past couple of months, things have significantly gone down hill. The burritos hardly have any protein, the super burrito and the regular burritos are the same size. You have to beg for chips and salsa even though you order 6 burritos they try and give you one little brown baggy of chips. This is THE best place for Taco Tuesday. $1 dollar tacos filled with delicious good quality meat (none of that bean filler). Different options as well. I've been coming here for several weeks now and I've never left disappointed. Soup is tasty! We got al pastor taco and pozole for early lunch. But I think we're used to the other place's al pastor. The flavor here is good so I'm giving 3 stars. I wanted lime not lemon and they didn't give extra cilantro for the soup. I needed to take the cilantro from tacos. Good thing they have oregano on the table so it save the day haha. Have been to the Meridian Ave location 3 times for soft tacos al pastor for lunch, to go. Tacos are good and large but today I asked for a lime instead of lemon. "NO problem" I get home and there's a lemon in the box. Also the tacos have beans and no salsa, WTF? THAT IS NOT A SOFT TACO! My lunch is ruined and I have nothing but rage for bad service. If I want a refund I have to waste gas to go back, and when I tried to call I got no answer, a hang-up, and straight to voicemail. 4th call:"You need to talk to the owner, he's not in until 4:00" Yeah well, I'm not waiting for him, I'll just post this instead. I chose the taco plate and in my head as I was waiting for my turn to order, I was imagining this giant plate with three or four tacos topped with onions and cilantro. BOY! WAS I WRONG! It was literally one taco with rice and beans on the side. I was so disappointed! But I gave it a shot and was hoping it'd be a very good taco. Nope. It was mediocre. My taco fell apart and I ended up eating it with my fork. I mean that is a no-no for me. Tacos are meant to be finger food. It was a little bland, the salsa for the chips had GREAT heat, but the food had not at all, so as far as a preview of the spice level the salsa was not accurate. Also there was very little meat in mine, it was mostly beans and lettuce. (I ordered a shredded beef chimichanga) I'd probably give it another try some time if I am over that direction, but it was kind of a haul to get to.
