I have memories that go way back of this place and it has and always will be one of the best Tex-mex restaurants. It's right by the beach (walking distance) and service is quick and friendly. Normally this place is packed but we came on a slow night and service was incredible. They use to have you order at the bar but a server came to us and the restaurant was beautifully updated. I loved the indie music playing. They also had our basketball game playing. Ariel was our server. She was attentive, friendly and a huge reason we enjoyed our visit. They give you complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is pretty plain but I enjoyed it. Our food came our surprisingly fast and we were all pleasantly surprised by the portions. My husband got the Chings or Chongs which was like chimichanga sushi rolls. My husband loved it. I got the taco/enchilada combo. I love the taco shell and the food was very filling with nice portions. Our baby loved their pinto beans and guacamole. Our son got the chicken nugget kids meal and he was so stoked because his chicken was dinosaurs. We paired our meals with margaritas and they were really good. Not your average sour mix flavor. Overall it's great tex mex style food for awesome prices and great service. I want to come back for taco Tuesday.

We have been coming to Taco City since the 80's when Carlita owned it. Once it was sold, it's continually gone down hill over the years. Tonight we decided we will not be going back. The service was AWFUL. We sat for one hour while people that came in a long time after us got their food. We could see food sitting in the window and no one would take it to the tables. They claimed that had two new kids working in the kitchen. We finally had to take our food to go because we were going to be late. I opened my to-go box because I was starving and wanted a few bites and the food looked absolutely disgusting. The ground beef had super hard chunks in it that you couldn't chew. Ive never been so disappointed. We won't return.

Taco City 2955 S Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 4 Stars Just reading my random name generator caused my senses to vellicate just a bit as I was staying beachside for this meal. Blinking benignly up at me was the name of a restaurant that had been in the same location for over 40 years. At this point, Taco City has to be a local landmark and they must be doing something right. They also have an express counter at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, though that doesn't necessarily mean anything as servicemen and women like anything that isn't an MRE. As I was not, nor have I ever been in the Air Force (thank you to those that have been in any branch of our Armed Forces), I hooked a Louie just shy of the Cape and pulled into "civie" Taco City. I was greeted warmly upon entering and taken almost immediately to a table. Glancing at the menu, I noticed that it was much more diversified than your average Tex-Mex cantina. My server soon approached, introduced himself as Sequoia and asked if I was ready to order. I noticed that Sequoia was also the manager or at least the manager on duty. I found him to be very outgoing and sagacious while unreservedly answering all my questions. You didn't think I just went in and ordered blindly, did you? Do you? If not, I would suggest you start. The most important being, is this dish assembled or made? I asked Sequoia for an order of Chings or Chongs and Dos Hard Tacos (chicken). I sat back and soaked up the fantastic atmosphere of the place and quicker'n a cat on a hot tin roof, Sequoia returned with my food. If it tasted half as good as the aromas running ahead, I knew I was in for some decent chow. Snapping the prerequisite pictures, I grabbed my tools of epicurean destruction and commenced to "reviewing." First up was my order of Chings or Chongs. This looked so interesting on the menu that I had to order it, and I was not disappointed. Consisting of shredded chicken fried in a large flour tortilla served along with freshly shredded iceberg, hand chopped tomatoes, Mexican cheese and black olives this dish was as delicious as it was unique. The chicken was tender, juicy and full-flavored. Turning my attention toward the Hard Tacos was not as easy as one might think, but I had a job to do. Grabbing a taco in my mitt, I took a good-sized bite and was delighted. This was also pleasant on the palate. Everything was fresh and one taste tells you it was made, not assembled in the kitchen. Well done, kitchen miens. Is Taco City going to win a James Beard award? Absolutely not. However, they aren't aiming for that either. What they are aiming for is what they provide and that is a fun, interesting menu with a great deal of heterogeneity in the crowded Tex-Mex field. This place is well run and the food is above average. The Big Boy says, "If you're looking for some Tex-Mex grub with a jovial atmosphere and decent food, try Taco City. I'm guessin' they will be here another 40 years." If you are in or have been in the Air Force and have eaten at their Express cafe, please let me know what you think/thought of it.

Always our go to place for Taco Tuesday! We've lived here for 23 years. locals favorite place! $2. tacos and free chips! Good and affordable! You will not be disappointed!

Pleasantly surprised!! I had the Chiquita burrito and it was full of flavor. Also the jalapeño poppers appetizer was pretty good. Only down fall is I took the food to go and it comes in aluminum containers which can't be reheated in the microwave. That's not a serious issue but just something to keep in mind if you Didn't have plates like me.

Service was very friendly, but had a weird vibe in that you had to order at the bar and then take your seat. And salsa for the chips is dolled out in little plastic ramekins....weird?? I had mahi tacos - they were ok, a bit fishy. And they were nestled in a bed of chopped up lettuce - also weird. Save yourselves all that wasted romaine and get some taco stands people! Husband had a pork carnitas in a tortilla with green salsa looking thing, and 17 year old ordered the Hombre which was filled with huge chunks of slow cooked beef, with a bunch of chili-like sauce poured over the top. Nothing terrible, but nothing fantastic either.

My husband works at Cape Canaveral, so he comes here all the time and I always have major FOMO so he decided, one day, to take me to the beach, then here for lunch. We were super early, so we waited outside with the dog until they opened. A few minutes even before they opened, I was welcomed inside. They immediately had chips and salsa ready for us. I said we will be sitting outside since we had the dog. They took our order and said they would bring our food out. The server was efficient and told me where to find the silverware & limes/lemons. While we anticipated our grub, my hubby went to wash his hands and before he returned, the Fire Balls were served. They have optional Cheese, Jalapeño Ranch & Sour Cream to accompany. I selected "D. All of the above". Shortly after, my tacos and husband's Chings & Chongs made their entrance. Everything was amazing. They even have their own hot sauces. The Scorpion taste like either Ghost Pepper or Carolina Reeper. I couldn't taste the Garlic Habanero because the heat of the Scorpion never really died, so TIP OF THE DAY: try the Garlic Habanero BEFORE the Scorpion. The view of the outdoor water eliminated the stress of the day and we enjoyed our food in a relaxing environment. DEFINITELY will be back. The only "con" is that the paper to-go bags don't fit the to-go boxes well.

Every time I'm at the beach I must stop here! I love this place!!!! To start, their salsa is amazing! They generally hand you some with chips free. You order at counter and they'll bring food out to your table once ready. Today, I ordered the #7 a taco, relleno, and an enchilada. Amazing! Enchilada also came with refried beans and rice. My favorite was the taco and prolly next time will stick to those. My partner had "Macho" chicken burrito and loved it also. Fresh, delicious this place is a must! They also have a pretty decent beer list and wine based cocktails. I wish I had this restaurant in my neighborhood! read more

Okay, so, the place is a dive. But it is the perfect mexi-american taco place for a beach day or a quick lunch. The tacos are tasty, chings are amazing, and definitely get dessert! (The chips and salsa aren't my fav, but hey, they're free.) On my birthday I drove an hour to get here and have a nice beach day. I would gladly do it again. read more

Decent little spot right by Coco Beach. It's really divey and a bit touristy but they mean well. I got the jalapeño poppers for an appetizer and the Ching and Chong for an entree. For my drink I had a pomegranate margarita. The margarita was A bit bland but there was a decent amount of Tequila in it. The Ching and Chong was really good. The guac they put on the tortilla worked really well with the chicken and the jalapeños complimented the cheese well. The jalapeños were very good (albeit small) and the jalapeño ranch sauce was good as well. I gave the place three stars however because they we're a bit slow, they ran out of ice, and it seemed a bit discombobulated in the kitchen. The food was delicious however. read more

Been going here for over 25 years. Never disappoints. I see some of the 1 and 2 star ratings on yelp. The food is greasy but that's what makes it so good. If you like Tex Mex in a laid back atmosphere this is the place. read more

Love this Cocoa Beach institution. I may have reviewed it before....?? But it's worth a follow up. Honestly, I'm shocked that it only has 3.5 stars. Never heard of it??? A little further South on A1A..... It's away from the busier restaurant and retail area. Worth the extra mile. Get the hard shell tacos.... Any variety. You. Will. Thank. Me. This by place by far was AMAZING, food was genuine Tex-mex, guacamole was creamy and authentic, service was friendly and thoroughly enjoyed the Sangria and the beer was I-C-E cold!!!!!! Free chips and salsa were great. I almost ate the whole basket. The shrimp tacos were delicious. Great place. The aquarium setup was nice to watch while we were waiting for our food. They got fed while we were there. read more

Great prices. Hometown vibe. Pretty good Mexican food. Everyone is So friendly. Always happy after I've visited. I've been going here for years. Get the cheese dip, the #6, #7 or go a la carte. Skip the Margs (not real tequila - no liquor license) and go with a local beer on tap. My ONLY complaint is that there isn't a Merch wall where we could get a souvenir t shirt or the stickers that I see plastered all over town!! read more

The food is exceptional and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I have been by this place for three years and had never stopped. Finally made a visit and am very disappointed that I have never stopped earlier. The atmosphere is comfortable and clean. I will definitely be back. Taco Tuesday will be on the calendar in the near future but we stopped on Thursday and it was still well worth it. read more

I haven't been to this place in over 20 years - from what I remember, its changed only slightly - no better, no worse. The place is just a little over being divy, but that's what gives it its charm. You can pick your own table, pick what you want at your table, but you order your food at the register. The staff is friendly, maybe a little slow and distracted at time, but overall good. My wife had the beef tacos which were made with homemade hardshells and I had this concotion called the Cholo (Mexican slang for a young Mexican thug.) Both dishes were superb. No dessert this time, but their menu only had one thing on it anyway. If you're looking for a place on the beach, like that relaxing dive-like atmosphere, and want to each really good food at a reasonable price - this is the place for you. read more

Note, Yelp says they are open on Mondays, but as we found out the hard way, as of Fall 2017 they are closed that day. Nonetheless, we returned on Tuesday for $2 tacos. The tacos were fried up in the hard shell with a real finely ground and flavorful beef filling. Shredded iceberg and shredded cheddar was everywhere and they were a good deal. The chips were good quality, but I thought the salsa was a bit lacking, almost too much like something from a jar. I also had a frozen margarita, and that was decent. The location can get real busy and seating is limited, but it is a worthy stop. read more

I am not saying this place is bad, but I know I won't go there again most likely. Got the sampler, whatever it is called and I will run it down. First, the salsa with the chips and salsa has to be Pace Picante sauce because it isn't like any other texican restaurant salsa I had. The tacos remind me of taco night in northern Wisconsin, 1990. You can make better tacos at home. The ingredients were fresh, they just did not taste great. The chile rellanos used jar salsa, it had to. It was probably the best thing out of the three. And the enchilada? Pass! The cheese was runny and had no binder to it. It was like eating a rolled taco with cheezwhiz, but cheezwhiz has better flavor. Sorry, but this place did not do it for me. I am hoping I find better Mexican down here. The beers here on tap did kick ass though, so there is that. read more

Place keeps busy! Went in on a taco Tuesday. $2 tacos and drafts. You order at the register and they bring it out to you. No table service. There's a small offering of frozen drinks but no bar. Just beer and wine. I got a cheese enchilada and it was nothing special. My friend got a couple of tacos and said the corn taco shells were too greasy. They looked it. Service is good and there is a small parking lot. I probably wouldn't go back. read more

Taco city was a staple of mine growing up. My family and I would come here anytime we'd stay in cocoa beach for vacation, so I've been familiar with the joint for about 20 years. I should mention right now that I love tacos. It's been about 10 years since I had been here so my wife and I decided it would be a good spot to catch a break from the beach sun and relax with some a/c while enjoying heaven in a hard shell. Taco city has an ordering counter when you walk in, so we were greeted by the friendly hostess and she handed us a trey of fresh chips and salsa (delicious, and dangerously, unlimited). I decided to go with the two taco plate (hard shell, 1 chicken 1 beef). The shell is perfectly crispy and the meat was very flavorful for each respective taco. I recommended my wife get the legendary hombre. I used to destroy these as a kid and I almost forgot how massive the portion is. Needless to say, she wasn't able to finish it. Against our better judgement, we also ordered an app of the fireballs which weren't as spicy as I remembered but still good. I highly recommend getting away from the touristy area of cocoa beach and checking out this side of towns staple spot. read more

Taco City has been one of my favorite little Mexican places since I moved to Cocoa Beach. Friendly staff, excellent location, large portions of food. The chicken wet burritos are awesome amongst many other entrees. And after you finish your meal you can walk right out the door to the breath taking beautiful Cocoa Beach. It's a favorite weekly stop for me. read more

Service was so bad. I walked in and already didn't feel welcomed. The woman next to me seemed like she's been there multiple times and knew the staff and they offered her all this extra stuff I had to ask questions to get something so simple like salsa?? This place was pretty packed for a rainy Sunday afternoon. I went for the first time with my family. The menu is pretty large and has a few things that sound good. You order when you walk in and pay immediately. Then you are given a tray with chips and salsa and your drinks and someone later brings out your food to your table. The food took a bit, but it was pretty busy. Once we got the food we were not that impressed. I would say the tacos and enchiladas definitely lack some flavor. Being that we drove a decent bit to get here I am not sure we would go back. It was pretty packed though so they seem to have some loyal customers. read more

I like this place. It reminds me of Neptune's Net north of LA, on the coast of county line surf spot. Surfer low key, quick service, straight up food, bar. I like the grilled fish tacos, crunchy, fresh, ha at avocado sauce. My son thought the enchiladas were bland, that's why I deducted one star. But I well come back for sure. read more

Stopped by this place waiting for my Airbnb to be available. Walked in and sat at the bar and was immediately helped by the server at the bar. She let me sample the pineapple cider which was delicious. Starting off vacation with chips/salsa and a beer. The salsa didn't seem like the fresh salsa I'm used to at Mexican restaurants, but it was still good as they add cilantro added to it. I got a small famous guac that was tasty, but might not be for everyone as it isn't spicy and not chunky. The server suggested I order the Chings or Chongs so I got that with chicken, no lettuce, with melted cheese on top. It was pretty tasty. Added the cilantro salsa on top. It comes with guac in the middle. I also got a hard taco with beef due to the advertised angus beef. It was pretty good. They added a lot of cheese on my taco for me. I took off one star for the salsa and guac. Great service. Good food. I would come back again for a quick bite. read more

Yum. I failed to take a picture. I was beyond hungry, so it wasn't on my mind. 3 of us had grilled fish tacos (mine on corn tortillas which is the only way to eat fish tacos IMO). The tacos were much bigger than I expected, and they came with huge sides of rice and beans. I would have appreciated less since I almost ate it all. :-) We had no room for the fried cheesecake. Great, relaxed, eclectic atmosphere. read more

My experience was pretty much the opposite of the other reviews I saw... my food was excellent, obviously made from clean, fresh ingredients. I got the Chings and Chongs with cheese ($1.99 upcharge for cheese is kinda steep, especially when I offer to trade out the guac tub that comes with it; avocados are way more expensive than cheese... The cashier didn't even check with a manager, just denied it.) There was definitely an opportunity for them to get 5 stars from me, but the laze'faire attitude the cashier had just gave me the impression she was just counting the minutes until she could leave. A single smile goes a long way with me, even if it's obvious you have to force it. I'll be back though; and might try one of their seafood options, it smelled delicious as I was leaving. read more

Went to Patrick AFB - Cocoa Beach and stopped here for lunch. The gal at the counter was very friendly & helpful. She explained how ordering worked as it was our first time. We had beer as we waited for our order. The food was just okay. We'd eat there again as it's a great friendly place. read more

Established in 1980.

Taco City has been in business for over 30 years. It is one of the oldest restaurants in Cocoa Beach, Fl. The restaurant is known for the laid back, beach like, atmosphere with great "one of a kind" food and staff.

Meet the Business Owner: Joel aka Bobby G.

Taco City has been a part of Bobby's life since he was 10 years old. His mother has worked at the restaurant for almost 30 years. Whether it was busing tables at age 14 or surfing behind the restaurant, it's always been like a second home. After spending four years in the Army he found himself working finance in a car dealership. Never really happy doing finance for a living, he went back to school to get his BBA. Shortly after graduating, an opportunity to own a Cocoa Beach icon presented itself. Without hesitating he grasped the dream and never looked back. Along with his mother, as owners of Taco City their goal is to continue the legacy built by the previous owners and ensure the locals favorite restaurant will be around for decades to come.

They've been around a long time, so I'm sure we will try again in another couple years.

My wife and I are retired and were recently traveling in the Cocoa Beach area while in Florida. We decided to stop at Taco City for dinner and were very pleased with the results ! I had burritos and my wife had a combination of hard tacos and enchilada, we were both really happy with our meals. I especially liked the chips and salsa they provided as an appetizer. I think the chips were homemade and we each got the kind of salsa we prefer. My wife likes it REALLY hot, me, not so much. Didn't seem to be any trouble at all for them to meet our seperate needs ! The restaurant was clean and the staff was most friendly and helpful to us as travelers, I can't imagine that anyone that lives in the area or traveling through would not have a wonderful meal if they are lucky enough to stop in. I second ALL of Misty M.'s comments. These people have NO BUSINESS WHATSOEVER running a restaurant. MARINARA sauce to go with tortilla chips????!!!!! REALLY???? WTF???? This was by far one of the most underwhelming meals of my life. Took friends from Melbourne and was MORTIFIED at the utter lack of quality of everything. The staff is SO obnoxious I felt like I was at a college sports bar in a University town, which Cocoa Beach is definitely NOT! I will never go back, and I will discourage anyone I know from bothering and wasting their money. read more

This place has been around since I was in the 4th grade. It's not disgusting as some on here would have you believe. If their order was wrong and they got back in line, then they are a dumb ass. The little guy knows everyone in town. The Slater brothers even worked there at one time or another. You know, Kelly, Sean, Skippy? The food is alright for the price, and don't let anyone tell you other wise. Expect more if you pay more. That is why you order at the counter and wait, and go back up to get your food. The food is tasty, though i can't speak for everything on the menu i have had most of it. Now of course everyone has their own taste, however if you're looking for a place to settle for lunch or dinner as a casual meal and hang out for a while this is the place to do it. What's great is after eating you can walk out go to the beach behind it and just walk and look out and be memorized by the beauty of the ocean. Moved here from Texas and I can tell you I want to hook a chain to their sign and rip it down and drag it down a1a in my truck. What a discrace to all Texans to have "Tex -mex" on your sign. Prompt "order at the counter" service. Chips didn't taste particularly fresh but may have been the type. Portions were large and pricing good. Taste was average. read more
