Decent little spot right by Coco Beach. It's really divey and a bit touristy but they mean well. I got the jalapeño poppers for an appetizer and the Ching and Chong for an entree. For my drink I had a pomegranate margarita. The margarita was A bit bland but there was a decent amount of Tequila in it. The Ching and Chong was really good. The guac they put on the tortilla worked really well with the chicken and the jalapeños complimented the cheese well. The jalapeños were very good (albeit small) and the jalapeño ranch sauce was good as well. I gave the place three stars however because they we're a bit slow, they ran out of ice, and it seemed a bit discombobulated in the kitchen. The food was delicious however. read more

Spent the day at the beach and asked around 2 different locals said Taco city on A1A and 30th Ordered the Guacamole and the hotter salsa I could make a meal out of just that, super fresh 6 people in are party. Everyone said the same thing this is great food. You have to at the counter that's what gives it its local charm. Cool place. read more

I haven't been to this place in over 20 years - from what I remember, its changed only slightly - no better, no worse. The place is just a little over being divy, but that's what gives it its charm. You can pick your own table, pick what you want at your table, but you order your food at the register. The staff is friendly, maybe a little slow and distracted at time, but overall good. My wife had the beef tacos which were made with homemade hardshells and I had this concotion called the Cholo (Mexican slang for a young Mexican thug.) Both dishes were superb. No dessert this time, but their menu only had one thing on it anyway. If you're looking for a place on the beach, like that relaxing dive-like atmosphere, and want to each really good food at a reasonable price - this is the place for you. read more

Note, Yelp says they are open on Mondays, but as we found out the hard way, as of Fall 2017 they are closed that day. Nonetheless, we returned on Tuesday for $2 tacos. The tacos were fried up in the hard shell with a real finely ground and flavorful beef filling. Shredded iceberg and shredded cheddar was everywhere and they were a good deal. The chips were good quality, but I thought the salsa was a bit lacking, almost too much like something from a jar. I also had a frozen margarita, and that was decent. First, the salsa with the chips and salsa has to be Pace Picante sauce because it isn't like any other texican restaurant salsa I had. The tacos remind me of taco night in northern Wisconsin, 1990. You can make better tacos at home. The ingredients were fresh, they just did not taste great. The chile rellanos used jar salsa, it had to. It was probably the best thing out of the three. And the enchilada? Pass! The cheese was runny and had no binder to it. It was like eating a rolled taco with cheezwhiz, but cheezwhiz has better flavor. Sorry, but this place did not do it for me. Place keeps busy! Went in on a taco Tuesday. $2 tacos and drafts. You order at the register and they bring it out to you. No table service. There's a small offering of frozen drinks but no bar. Just beer and wine. I got a cheese enchilada and it was nothing special. My friend got a couple of tacos and said the corn taco shells were too greasy. They looked it. Taco city was a staple of mine growing up. My family and I would come here anytime we'd stay in cocoa beach for vacation, so I've been familiar with the joint for about 20 years. I should mention right now that I love tacos. It's been about 10 years since I had been here so my wife and I decided it would be a good spot to catch a break from the beach sun and relax with some a/c while enjoying heaven in a hard shell. Taco city has an ordering counter when you walk in, so we were greeted by the friendly hostess and she handed us a trey of fresh chips and salsa (delicious, and dangerously, unlimited). I decided to go with the two taco plate (hard shell, 1 chicken 1 beef). The shell is perfectly crispy and the meat was very flavorful for each respective taco. I recommended my wife get the legendary hombre. I used to destroy these as a kid and I almost forgot how massive the portion is. Needless to say, she wasn't able to finish it. Against our better judgement, we also ordered an app of the fireballs which weren't as spicy as I remembered but still good. I highly recommend getting away from the touristy area of cocoa beach and checking out this side of towns staple spot. read more

This place was pretty packed for a rainy Sunday afternoon. I went for the first time with my family. The menu is pretty large and has a few things that sound good. You order when you walk in and pay immediately. Then you are given a tray with chips and salsa and your drinks and someone later brings out your food to your table. The food took a bit, but it was pretty busy. Once we got the food we were not that impressed. I would say the tacos and enchiladas definitely lack some flavor. Stopped by this place waiting for my Airbnb to be available. Walked in and sat at the bar and was immediately helped by the server at the bar. She let me sample the pineapple cider which was delicious. Starting off vacation with chips/salsa and a beer. The salsa didn't seem like the fresh salsa I'm used to at Mexican restaurants, but it was still good as they add cilantro added to it. I got a small famous guac that was tasty, but might not be for everyone as it isn't spicy and not chunky. The server suggested I order the Chings or Chongs so I got that with chicken, no lettuce, with melted cheese on top. It was pretty tasty. Added the cilantro salsa on top. It comes with guac in the middle. I also got a hard taco with beef due to the advertised angus beef. It was pretty good. They added a lot of cheese on my taco for me. I took off one star for the salsa and guac. Great service. Good food. I would come back again for a quick bite. read more

Yum. I failed to take a picture. I was beyond hungry, so it wasn't on my mind. 3 of us had grilled fish tacos (mine on corn tortillas which is the only way to eat fish tacos IMO). The tacos were much bigger than I expected, and they came with huge sides of rice and beans. I would have appreciated less since I almost ate it all. :-) We had no room for the fried cheesecake. Coming from Arizona I can tell you that this is definitely not Mexican food. This is what happens when white people try to cook outside their ethnicity. The salsa was like tomato paste and simply was no bueno. I got the hard tacos and the shells seemed over fried. The rice was more Cuban than Mexican. And the beans just looked nasty. Why does my plate have to come out of the kitchen so hot as hell when all I'm ordering are two tacos. Also two hot plates on one tray, how the heck am I supposed to separate the two dishes without getting burnt? Lazy! Also when we walked in the place the air was really musty. Rather go make tacos myself and sit outside and feel the cool breeze of the ocean. Please do yourself a favor and don't come here. Never again sir, never again. UPDATE 5/6/2012: I have been harassed on two occasions by "alleged" customers of Taco City because of my review. I think that the owners should invest their time and money into improving the quality of the food. We wanted it to be good when we visited, but it just wasn't. My experience was pretty much the opposite of the other reviews I saw... my food was excellent, obviously made from clean, fresh ingredients. I got the Chings and Chongs with cheese ($1.99 upcharge for cheese is kinda steep, especially when I offer to trade out the guac tub that comes with it; avocados are way more expensive than cheese... The cashier didn't even check with a manager, just denied it.) There was definitely an opportunity for them to get 5 stars from me, but the laze'faire attitude the cashier had just gave me the impression she was just counting the minutes until she could leave. A single smile goes a long way with me, even if it's obvious you have to force it. I'll be back though; and might try one of their seafood options, it smelled delicious as I was leaving. read more

My quesadilla was soggy and funny how the commenter below said they make Chicago pizza sized ones?? Uh, well mine must of missed the mark because it was small and flat as hell, not to mention SOGGY. And the burrito was just a mush of beef, cheese and tortilla. Paying 10 bucks for the Hombre you would expect veggies like let's say.. tomatoes, lettuce, jalapenos etc. Don't even think twice to splurge on the guac, it's just as terrifying. Overall, the lack of quality on the ingredients and under prepared food will not leave me coming back.
