A lot of the people I follow have been raving about this place, and I was excited to check them out for myself. I don't know if there was too much hype but I wasn't blown away. The tacos were good, but not amazing. I also had a chicken torta and it was just OK. I had a total of 4 tacos, a variety of everything including beef, pork, el pastor, and chicken, they were good but they were SUPER GREASY. It reminded me of the crap at jack in the box. They were sealed up the same way. The only difference was the meat inside was better. Depending on when you go it can take awhile to get the tacos out to you too. They only have a small space to work so if they get huge orders it may get backed up for awhile. It's good, but maybe I had my expectations up too high. But the price is def good value. read more

I love having this place to close to me. Unfortunately it doesn't have a set schedule. So hopefully you can catch them when they're open! To be honest they're are not the best tacos in the world but they are always super nice and very generous on everything: salsa, limes, meat, grilled onions, napkins, etc! What a friendly neighborhood stand! We stopped by this afternoon for a post-hike meal, and when the gentleman took our order, it started drizzling gently. As we waited, the skies opened and started pouring, so the man ran outside and started assembling a tent for us to sit under while we ate. (!!!!!) My husband and I both ordered tacos de tripa and chicharrón. Both meats were well-seasoned, sprinkled with cilantro, and the tripa was especially crispy (the way my husband prefers it). Our taco plates also came with grilled onions, jalapeño, potatoes, and lemon to squeeze. The pricing was also very reasonable- we spent less than $12 on 5 tacos and a tall Mexican coke. Yay! After a night at Super Happy Fun Land a few streets down, my friend was getting hungry and suggested this place after hearing from another friend about the delicious tacos offered here. I have been trying to jump into this food truck craze. I hate waiting, love cheap tasty food, and enjoy eating outside, so when asked if I wanted to try this, it was a go for me! Parking by the stand is very limited, but the neighborhood side streets are nearby with a only a short walk. The menu is in Spanish, which was at first daunting, but the woman at the window spoke English, and I was careful to stick to familiar food items. I ordered two pork tacos, one with cheese, and a barbacoa gordita. The presentation of the food was surprisingly nice, and the meat was well seasoned, but once I started digging in, there were a few problems. One, the food was very greasy. The tortilla on the gordita was falling apart and really soggy. Two, they had forgotten the cheese on one of my pork tacos. Three, the limes they provided were dry. I couldn't even get a single drop out of one wedge. Four, there were no knives! After discovering how greasy the tacos were, I figured the best method to indulge was to just cut them into manageable pieces. Unfortunately, I had to just deal with greasy hands. At least they had a giant bottle of pump hand sanitizer? On the upside, the food was cheap, they provide bottles of salsas and a tray of marinated onions to help yourself to, and the workers and patrons seem friendly. They also like to include some extras like jalapenos, peppers, potatoes, and I even got a surprise hunk of some deep fried internal organ... probably liver mixed in with the potatoes. This was the first time I've had tacos this way. I've only had the koketadas which are the corn tortillas are made in their special red sauce and is served with caramelized onions and potatoes. It's greasy, slightly crunchy, and delicious. The meat was good, I got pastor and fajita. They also give you sauce packets that add so much to the tacos. The only problem I had was that it was a bit too greasy and I had a hard time telling the difference between each meat. Other than that, I liked the tacos and recommend for everyone to try! In comparison to Torchy's regarding quality, I would say that Torchy's seemed fresher and I did like Torchy's flavor more. Service quality was the same. Environment wise, well, tap stand vs storefront as one would expect. This place has Torchy's need in Speed of service simple because there were less people. As someone who spent about 10 years in Corpus Christi, I've been deeply disappointed in Houston's tacos in particular and Mexican food in general. That's changed since I found Taco Keto. I particularly like their tacos al pastor (the meat is shredded pork) and desebrada tacos (shredded beef), but I have yet to try something I disliked. Let's be clear: Keto may not be as good as the best on offer in San Antonio, Corpus, etc., but (1) this is taco truck fare; and (2) they are indisputably tasty. The fact that they come served with grilled onion, potato, roasted jalapeno, two kinds of sauce, cilantro, and half a key lime for your pleasure is impressive. That they do this for $1.75 per taco (this is the cost if cheese is included; it may otherwise be lower) while tasting quite fine makes for an exceptional value. It also makes for a five star establishment in my book. They're open 11am to 11pm. Don't miss it if you're hungry and in the area...it may be a taco truck, but I'd take it to any of the tacos I've had at sit-down joints in Houston, including the several-times more expensive fare at Cyclone Anayas. read more

I'll readily admit I'm a novice when it comes to Houston's expansive taco truck scene. My taco experience growing up was pretty much limited to daytime snacks at Taco Bell, late night runs to Taco Cabana, and getting my grub on at the best dang taco shack there ever was outside of my high school, Soliz Casa De Tacos in Sugar Land. Since returning to Houston, I've ventured out to expand my horizons, trying a handful of taco trucks and taquerias without knowing what I'm really doing. That said, I do know good food, and Taco Keto is it. Taco Keto has gotten a little bit of notoriety for being the "WHO??!?" pick as the top restaurant in Houston based on its algorithm rating, so I felt that I had to do my Yelply duty and check it out for myself. Like Soliz is to me, Taco Keto is a local favorite of UH students. It's located on Cullen across the I-45 highway. As a UT graduate, I think I can safely say I've never been on this side of Cullen anytime in my life. Anyways, Taco Keto is a taco truck on the south side of Cullen across from the Kroger's. There's a very limited parking lot, one long table to sit, and two TV's from the early 90's blasting telenovelas and Spanish-language news. Oh, and there's a colored strobe light and a sign saying "find us on Yelp dot com". Awesome. Tacos are the thing to get here, and my are they awesome. They come with your choice of meat (beef fajita, chicken fajita, al pastor, desebrada, chicharron, tripa, and milanesa. These bad boys are just $1.50, although I think there's a surcharge on the specialty meats. Per the reviews, we added cheese to all tacos, which may also be an upcharge. It's kind of hard to tell how the pricing works out, but our final tally came out to a measly $9. Taco Keto also serves gorditas, tortas, burritos, and an enchiladas plate, a hamburger plate. But back to the business at hand: taco tacos. These things look small when wrapped up, but they pack a big punch. The tacos are wrapped in a spicy, buttered tortilla, the folded clam-style. If you order cheese, the ends seemingly stick together in a dumpling-like form. Tacos come with the carne, fresh cilantro (yum!), grilled onions (double yum!), fried potatoes (triple yum!), and a grilled jalapeno (spicy yum!). There's two liquid hot sauces, the green (milder) and orange (spicier). The fiance picked up two chicken tacos, and I went with a beef sampler of fajita, desebrada (shredded beef), and tripa (tripe). HEAVEN. I started with the tripe (no stranger to it, see: Dim Sum, Pho), and it felt like I was in fatty brisket heaven. Next came the fajita, generous chunks of tender, well-seasoned meat. I finished with the shredded beef, a salty, fall-off-the-bone type of good eating. The accompaniments were equally impressive, the fajita-spiced vegetables adding extra texture and taste. Add in the sourness with a squeeze of lemon and some spicy sauce (I preferred the orange), and I was swimming in Mexican goodness. The spicy fajita and ending bites of jalapeno only enhanced the experience. OK, after writing all that, I'm drooling and thinking about when I can go back for more. AMAZING. TACOS. Located very close to UH, this food truck serves some pretty bomb food. I ordered three tacos and was blown away by the flavor from each bite. Seriously though...oh man. The marinated meat, melted cheese, seasoned tortillas, and grilled potatoes and onions all contribute to produce some amazing stuff. I'm terrible at Spanish and completely botched my order, but the lady was still incredibly kind and helpful. The staff even lowered the bed of their truck so that we could sit there to eat! Taco Keto may very well have the best tacos in all of Houston. They're authentic, cheap, filling, and incredibly flavorful. years ago, I signed a lease on an apartment three blocks away...when I got the keys, before even going inside, I walked to Taco Keto for a burrito. I could go on for days about the meals I've eaten here. The burritos are covered in a spicy sauce and grilled. Served with a grilled pepper and the best green sauce I've ever had. I live right around the corner from this lovely spot. I walked/drove by for many moons before I decided to make the dive into it. On first thought, I thought the food was a little pricey for a taco stand and it took a long time before I returned. However, after a few more successful advances into the menu. I became a TacoKeto junkie. I was literally there enough for the staff to know me on sight what I wanted, then I begin to call in my orders and they knew my voice on the phone. I would like to add that while the staff first language is not English their warm smiles and friendly customer services will bring you back repeatedly, trust me I know! The meats were so-so in flavor she said. :( What did I order? They invited me to come back and to make up for the mistakes they made with my tacos during my third visit. They offered me 3 free tacos, which they didn't I love this place, and I would have gone back either way. My boyfriend had tripe this time, and he loved it. This is my third time eating it. The first time was great. the second time was AMAZING. the third time which was today fell very very very short. I barely had any meat in my fajita taco. It was mostly cartilage. They put cheese on all my tacos when I specifically ordered no cheese. The pork taco didn't have much meat either. It was mostly cheese. My favorite tacos are barbacoa and fajita.
