Shortly after college I lived in an apartment downtown (Cameron Hill - which is now Blue Cross). Taco Mac was my favorite place to go. Amazing beer selection. Good food. Reasonable prices. Great wait staff. And always something happening. I moved away for 15 years and moved back to Chattanooga 4 years ago. Something changed. The beer selection is still awesome, but the food isn't as good, the prices are much higher, the wait staff is still great. I haven't been back much, it's sad for me to remember what it was to what it is now. I guess you can't go back. BTW the ranch dressing is and always has been, some of the worst ranch dressing out there. Seriously, it's gross. Get blue cheese for your wings...even if you hate blue cheese. read more

It was time for some chili con queso, so naturally this was my choice!!! I went with my sister and roomie. Our waiter William was awesome! He was quick and made sure our drinks were full. I also ordered a watermelon margarita and the mushroom steak burger, rare, with a side of Mexican street corn. The margarita was really strong! Which is nice. But it did not taste like watermelon at all. It tasted like peach. (I had to order that because they were out of Bloody Mary mix, even though it was a main item drink) Then we got the food My burger was perfect! I love a rare burger with good flavor. And the A1 mayo was great!!! I was also shocked that the Mexican street corn was so good!!! The food there was perfect!!!! It was disappointing that the drink was not as good as the food. My husband and I came to stay in downtown Chattanooga for the weekend. We do this once a year and always go to Taco MAC. The other times it was really good but the place looked totally different this time. Maybe they totally renovated since our last visit. We used to love the frozen margaritas. They were well blended and in tall glasses. The margaritas we ordered today were in short high ball glasses and not at all the flavor and consistency they used to be. Not worth $7.75 for a small margarita. Chips and salsa comes with a tiny amount of salsa. Not enough for the tray of chips. When we were seated it was at least 5 minutes before a server came to our table. Boneless wings were good. High quality chicken. read more

We were referred to this place from a friend in Alabama. He said it was a MUST try on our recent trip up to Chattanooga. My husband and I were not disappointed! We both had burgers- me the Chattahoochee, and him the Clermont. Amazing! It was my first time having fried pickles on a burger, and let me tell you, my life is changed for the better! The sweet potato fries were the perfect balance of crispy on the outside and tender in the middle. Im going to start off this review by saying I am nit a dramatic person and I really hate complaining but this order was so grossly wrong I had to say something. They honestly derserve zero starAs I am unpacking my order it keeps getting worse and worse. First this chicken sandwich came in black as night and cold no exaggeration. Fries cold and it had nothing to do with the dasher because she delivered it with 10-15 min. The extra ranch I bought can't even use because they didn't take the time out to make sure that the lid was on it correctly. Lastly I told them no tomatoes my salad still came with tomatoes so I picked them out to find a medium black hair in my salad. I know for a fact it's nit my hair because I have a very short hair cut so there is no way possible it's my hair. So at this point I am going to have to get lunch again after I have already ordered because this establishment obviously doesn't care about its customers time, money, or satisfaction. By the product I received this establishment obviously has zero Integrity about the food they put out. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY WITH THEM. I'm so upset. Good help, but food needs work. Okay, so I came to this place on the advice of others. It is an excellent sports bar. Apparently the place is Tex-Mex and I ordered chicken wings. They were below average. They were obviously microwaved, as the bones were hotter than the meat. The lemon pepper flavor I ordered were heavy on the lemon. Not so much pepper, and definitely not as good as Loco's lemon pepper wings. Service was on point. I was greeted by the reception promptly and at the bar the service was also good. I received my order in an expected amount of time. They have both a food and booze menu. I would return for the service and games to watch but not so much for the food. read more

My first time going here was a really good experience. I had wings, drinks and starters. My second time was a carryout for the southern fried catfish and 3 different tacos. I immediately noticed the oil wasnt fresh (i cook alot at home so i know) that the catfish was fried in. It tasted burnt and not that good,but they do have a great atmosphere and good wings. I'm giving 2 stars for the service and only the service of our waiter. I'd avoid this place at all costs in the future. The food is below subpar. They dropped one of my friends plate of wings on the floor and took over 15 minutes to serve him warm wings. No comp on anything - just a simple sorry. (Wait, the manager did give us a comp but wouldn't come out to speak with us.) Let's talk about their Mac n' cheese. If you're going to serve me subpar Kraft Mac n' cheese, please make sure it's at least piping hot. That's not what I got. I got not warm Kraft, from a box, Mac n' Cheese. If your corporate plan is to serve boxed Kraft Mac n'cheese, it might be time to get out of the business. (Especially if you're business has Mac in the name.) I'd take Velveeta shells n' cheese over this every day of the week. Chattanoogans and visitors, avoid this place above all else. Chili's across the street is much better. Actually, go to Public House 5 minutes down the road or Mayan Kitchen a few blocks away. You'll get treated with respect, have hot food, and not get served worse food than your 8 year old can make from a box. Oh, and don't ask for the manager. We were visiting Chattanooga for a mini four day vacation and found this gem around our hotel so we decided to order food and bring it back to the room. The lemon pepper wings were incredible. So, Taco Mac is a great place to watch a football game. But to paraphrase Forrest Gump, "that's all I have to say about that." Other than the insane number of televisions and good beer selection, the service and food are mediocre at best. The sweetie and I have been in a couple times in the past month to watch UT football games. The first time we sat at the bar, the second time at a table. The bar service was acceptable, but far from noteworthy. The bartender did not seem particularly interested in talking to us, nor was he very quick with the refills. We ordered food with specific instructions for the fried items to be extra hot. When our food was brought out, the fries were lukewarm. When we sent the plate back to fix the cold items, it came back out with cold wings! C'mon, people! On our most recent visit, we sat at a table and the service was much better. Food, however, was about the same. I just get annoyed when food isn't brought out as ordered... Especially when the only stipulation when ordering is that the food be hot, as it should be anyway! This shouldn't be that hard! Lesson learned: eat before you come, stick with only ordering beers and grab a seat/table with a good view of a TV showing the game you're interested in. read more

Decided to watch the SuperBowl here with friends and it was perfect. There were TVs everywhere you looked so you didn't miss a thing. This does not take an hour. They are not even busy. Do not go here. It's not worth it. Staff does not care at all. I've read other reviews that say the same thing. Save your time and money. My friends and I popped into Taco Mac on vacation and we're thrilled to be able to sit at the bar during COVID as some states quite aren't there yet. The best part of this was our bartender Kayla. If I lived here I would quickly become her regular. She is one of the quickest, and most efficient bartenders I've ever encountered. We just came here for a quick drink after walking downtown for a few hours. We were seated quickly, but that's the extent of the quick service. It wasn't very busy, and we waited for half an hour for two cocktails and three Sprites. The cocktails were great, but we were 4 minutes from getting up and leaving before our drinks came out. We stop by Taco Mac almost every time we drive through Chattanooga. It's a restaurant for everyone. Adults love the rotating draft beer selection, and my kids love the options on the kids menu. Very few companies allow you to choose "all drum" or "all flats" when it comes to wings. They even asked when using Uber eats app if I wanted one or the other. Their wings were insanely good and the broccoli & cheese side I had was a unique offering and healthier alternative than fries. They were both so good and complimented each other well. read more

This was one of my top 2 favorite places to eat in Chatt. Everything I tried was consistently delicious. My go to dishes were the fried chicken sandwich, the catfish, and ALL of the tacos. The place wasn't packed but I ended up waiting about 40 mins for the food to come out. I was on a saturday around 2:30pm. I think it started bad when they only have one HOSTESS that wasn't there. We waited like 5 mins to get seated. Keep in mind there was no wait. Once we got seated we were greeted like normal and ordered. Then the long wait. Seemed like everyone waited a bit which was odd. It wasn't even lunch hr. Personally we felt ignored. The table next to us, when they got there food, server was like "sorry for the long wait" etc etc but not once did she come by to check or even give us an update on our food. Honestly, I was 30 seconds away to just walk out. Food was great cause we waited so long that all of us were hungry. I don't think I would come back. They need to treat every customer the same. Went to Taco Mac yesterday after a movie. The food was okay, but nothing that set them apart. $7.25 for a SMALL beer seems pricey. But what really did it was the service. It simply sucked. Mr. scruffy beard (our server, Can't give you his name because he mumbled it and the space was blank on the receipt where the server's name is supposed to be) He paid us no attention, to the point we had to place our food order with another wait person. When it came to presenting the check and hoping for a nice tip, he was all smiles, apologies and attention. Good thing it was my partner that was leaving the tip and not me. I wouldn't have been nearly a generous. 10% was far too generous for the lack of service we received. Everyone can have an off day, so I may try them again. But it won't be any time soon. read more

Seated quickly. But then had to wait ten minutes to order water. Talk about waiting time killing you softly... all those beers and no one to serve them.. Actually, there were PLENTY of people standing idly. There were more servers than people in the restaurant. Thankfully, Laura saved the day. She was prompt, when she got to the table, with billing our food and drink orders. With a unhappy 13 month old, a moody six-year-old girl, and a crazy 10 year-old, it was greatly appreciated to get them taken care of finally. The food was good. We got some of the hot wings, which were not very hot. But the house made ranch made up for it. They have a really good take them cheese sticks. Laura knew we had to get out of there quickly so she brought our bill before our food came out that I very much appreciated. Itreally help to speed things along and get it to where we needed to be at 6. I can't say enough negative things about the reception we got upon entry. We were seated at a table for 4 and we had five people. Nobody checked on us the manager walked by us even. It really set the tone for a negative experience. The staff was friendly and attentive. Informed us of what cocktails were favorites. I had the margarita and it was good. The food was delicious. We had the queso carne and wings. No complaints on the taste of these two items. I had fish and chips substituted the fries for mac and cheese. The fish didn't need any salt,pepper or tarter sauce. The flavor was very tasty. The philly cheese steak was also a hit as well as the ranch bacon burger. I will return if I visit Chattanooga again. read more

We were in town for a weekend getaway and Taco Mac was close to the hotel. They were not very busy (it was Sunday night and school had started back). The queso has good flavor but was a little thick. We ordered some wings as well. He wings were cooked fresh to order, very crispy and hot. We had the black garlic and also lemon pepper. I wish that there had been some more seasoning. I was impressed that for the price the wings came with a side. The blue cheese was great-very thick and dippable (not the runny mess one usually gets). We also split some boneless wings with hot Asian chili-also very good. Staff was friendly and attentive. We will add Taco Mac to our places to visit when there is one around. read more
