Actually really liked this place and plan to be back soon. The pork tamale was so good, specially with the sweet mole sauce on top - id probably skip out on the crema and cheese as it's just too much. We tried the rosarito mahi taco, chilango, and tinga taco. Would recommend the mahi and chilango, so good and the mahi is nice and crispy! Love that they also give you chips and salsa on the side. I'd rather save the Tinga taco on a tostada instead though, too much crema and cheese for me. Excited to try other stuff on their menu! In terms of price it's a little expensive for tacos, they are between 3 - 4$ but compared to everything else in Naperville id say this is pretty typical. There are restaurants and preferences for every person. This just isn't mine. It's just too "fast food'ish" for me. It's clean and the staff very friendly. The service is really great. The tacos are made with fresh ingredients and only cost about $3 each. -There are several pros here. I just can't dig bright orange Mexican rice with peas and carrots. Or a load of pork (Barbacoa)so thick and chewy, I could barely eat it. The refried beans served in a big chip didn't entice me. I did however love the Mexican Fries -"Nachos" made with waffle fries. And I liked the meats and combinations of flavors in some of my other tacos, such as the Paneer and the Filet Mignon. I'd grab tacos from here on occasion if I were nearby and needed quick food. I wouldn't discourage anyone from coming. But, just be aware that in quality, it's most definitely north of the flavor of Taco Bell, but still south of Fire it Up. I was starving after an HPF class and so glad they are right in the same plaza. I've tired the other 2 locations and this location has more taco options. Like the paneer taco, chicken tinga taco, and bbq chicken taco with pineapple mango salsa. Oh and they carry dessert too. I ordered the 3 taco dinner al pastor, chicken tinga, and bbq chicken taco with rice and beans, horchata, and churros. I loved the taco meal, but not a fan of the churro too sweet and had leches filling (which I didn't know until purchase). It pains me to give Taco Madre anything less than 5 stars, but this location doesn't come close to the food and service you get at the Montgomery spot. First of all, hubs and I love the chilango taco. At least, we love it at the Montgomery location. The Naperville store doesn't include bacon on theirs, though. We knew this ahead of time and ordered some anyway, hoping they'd still be rave worthy. Not so much. Hubs ordered his 3 tacos (2 filet mignon, 1 chilango) with no pico de gallo. His order arrived with extra, extra, extra pico. The chilango taco was missing cheese. His filet mignon tacos were missing the chimichurri sauce, although he brought this up and a server brought out a side of some for him. He was happy with his refried beans and rice but it's hard to screw those up. My 3 taco platter arrived with refried beans instead of double rice like I asked. I'm fairly certain that I asked for corn tortillas but received flour. My chilango taco had no chorizo in it. In fact, it looked like a regular steak taco. My filet mignon and mahi mahi tacos were fine, though. The mahi mahi was the best of the 3. The tacos here also aren't stuffed to the brim, which is disappointing for the price. The guacamole salsa is spot on and exactly what we expected from other visits to the Montgomery location. We aren't overly picky people when we go out to eat, but there shouldn't have been so many errors here. Especially for items where standard ingredients were missing (cheese, chorizo, sauce). For $28 we left beyond stuffed, albeit slightly disappointed that our orders weren't made as requested. I'll attribute the errors as typical growing pains and plan on giving them another chance. I'll still choose this place over the taco fusion place up the street. Work out the kinks and we'll be back. read more

Good: - very friendly, personable service, with earnest attempts to make sure we were happy and taken care of. - great food (for the most part) - lots of menu choices - cool, happy decorating vibe, comfy seating - very reasonable prices and portion size - free chips and salsa with your meal Not so good: - really slow taking orders at the counter - tables not wiped off - warm salsa, weird and not all that tasty I wasn't starved til I got in there. Everything sounded so good on the menu that I soon was hungry! I just got a couple of tacos this time - one veggie fajita, which had sautéed veggies and a nice slice of avocado on it, and one chicken. Both Mexican style, which means grilled onions and (LOTS AND LOTS of) cilantro. Be forewarned. It's my fault for not looking more closely at the menu on that one. (Not a cilantro fan). So chips and salsa + 2 tacos was plenty but I'll go back later for enchiladas or tortas or even breakfast! The gourmet tacos have all kinds of delicious sounding versions. I think the wrinkles will get ironed out and this will be a great place for tacos. I'm glad they're in town now! read more

Taco salad is weak! They put little lettuce on bottom then hot meat on top of it. The lettuce becomes a hot wilted mess. They over charge for little stuff like sour cream. No cheese. This place is amazing! The food is very tasty. The lady at the front counter was so friendly and helpful with making decisions on food. It was funny because we were so full at the end of our meal, but then she said next time you'll have to try or Fried ice cream. My boyfriend immediately ordered one for us to share. I was so pleased when I stopped here. 1. If you like HEAT, their salsas (habanero in particular) has just that. 2. The pickled carrots & peppers that you normally would get seems like it was marinated in olive oil & Mexican oregano. VERY different but good. 3. I've had the chicken taco & burrito. The tacos in here are really good and definitely the tacos that you would love to eat again and again because that is what exactly I felt on their tacos. Service was bad and they gave me the wrong order. I called to order, they gave me a time for pick up, then made me wait for 20 mins in the store while they were on the phone. The food was already prepared and just sitting there but they could not be bothered to hand it to me. Every few weeks, I type "fish tacos" into Yelp and see what comes up. Today was my lucky day, I happened upon this Yelp listing and decided to check it out. Went in a little after 5 pm and it was quite empty. We ordered mahi mahi tacos, a few shrimp ones and the poblano gourmet taco. They are served with complimentary warm tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were good, the salsa was ok. Our food was prepared and served pretty fast. Within this short timeframe, the restaurant suddenly became super busy and poppin. There was actually a long line for ordering. The tacos were delicious with fresh lime, cilantro, tomatoes etc. Definitely try the mahi mahi, it's so good! The poblano one was interesting too, lots of different flavors. I was too full to try the paneer taco but will order it next time. I love the idea of a la carte tacos because you can try one of everything. The prices are extremely reasonable... especially for a Naperville joint. There is also a good variety for vegetarian and pescatarian diets. Usually I'm limited to one or two things on the menu but there were many enticing options for me. The restaurant itself was very clean and the staff was doing a great job with cleaning up tables so that new customers could be accommodated. Not sure why I've never heard of this place before. Fresh simple recipes, and they fact that they got innovative and put spicy paneer inside tacos, burritos, enchiladas etc.. was a huge hit with my family.. vegetarians don't need to settle for huge chunks of zucchini and other veggies that pass for a fajita.. you can try one of each with either paneer or veggies only.. there is a pretty great salsa bar ranging from mild to wild.. you can kick up your guac if you're feeling bold. elotes, may not show up on the menu but they have a decent cup to split to get you started.
